The silver fox Drexian is exactly my type. If only I didn’t want to kill him.
The Academy’s security chief is gruff and grizzled and makes no secret of his disdain for humans at the ancient school, especially females. Which is why I never should have let him get under my skin. I never should have challenged him to a card game. But once he accepted, I couldn’t back down. I couldn’t let him think he was right about women.
When the stakes of the game get too high, I have nothing left to barter but myself. And Commander Vyk is determined to make me pay handsomely. But will what he requires in payment go against everything he claims to believe? Or will he learn just how dangerous it can be to play with fire?
Legend is the third book in Tana Stone’s Warriors of the Drexian Academy series. This silver fox, age gap, enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance contains an HEA, and will leave you wanting more cunning Assassins, badass Blades, brilliant Irons, and daring Wings.
I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.
I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!
3.5* I really enjoyed the book series so far but Fiona almost killed the enjoyment with the way she is. I still don’t like her character and I am thankful that Vyk was a well developed character in the book. His development pretty much carries me through the book. There are strong female characters and then there are arrogant self-contradicting women who should have never been written into a story. I still do not get the connection of her behavior and the part her brother plays in it. I also don’t understand how Fiona was supposed to be so strong but yet couldn’t stand up to this Devon person. It would have been more plausible if she did come across of the wannabe female version of a tough guy with no substance.
🔥 “There is no going back, Fiona. Not now. Not ever. You are mine.” ~~~ Fiona is an absolute badass! Not only is she an instructor in the Drexian Academy (an Assassin nonetheless) and a very capable military officer, but she’s also bold, confident, strong, funny, fearless and resilient. Even more, she’s an amazing and supportive friend. And I absolutely loved her fierceness and sass. Fiona is a woman who doesn’t hesitate to face and deal with any challenges thrown her way and also stand up to even the most fearsome of the Drexians. She’s an incredible woman and I adored everything about her!
And Commander Vyk is definitely one intense and fearsome Drexian! The former Inferno Force Commander, now Chief of Security in the Drexian Academy has earned the reputation of one of the most brutal and feared warriors, of someone not to be challenged. He’s dangerous, growly, deadly and gruff. But Commander Vyk is also honorable, fiercely loyal and protective. And so delightfully and irresistibly dominant! The silver fox Drexian is quite the male, and despite his actions in the previous books, I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Fiona and Vyk! Those two are like oil and water from the very moment they met. And there’s definitely reasons for that. Nevertheless, I adored Fiona and Vyk together! The tension, the banters, the teasing, constant bickering and challenging each other - every moment they spent in each other’s company was an absolute delight to read! Even more, together they made an absolutely badass team! And when they couldn’t resist the undeniable need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and I absolutely couldn’t get enough! Oh, these Drexians are utterly irresistible. They might be dominant and possessive, but they’re also honorable and considerate and, no matter what, with them - consent is king. Ahhh, swooooooning! Fiona and Vyk were a truly perfect match and, after everything they went through in their pasts, absolutely deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! The school year might be over but things are anything but calm between the walls of the Drexian Academy. A daring rescue mission is undergoing preparations and unexpected enemies are heading towards Drex. All hands on deck will be needed to deal with it all and help might come from the most unexpected of places. With everything happening and the unexpected turns of events, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with danger, suspense, action, twists, betrayals, intrigue, scorching-hot romance and magnificent characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it! And, with how the story ended, I cannot wait to see what happens next!
I loved, loved this pulse pounding and spicy enemies to lovers, age gap, sci-fi alien-human romance. The story had the perfect balance of love, real life issues, spice, humor, danger and intrigue as seen through the eyes of two intense, strong and passionate characters. For an enemies to lovers story to work, the author has to straddle a fine line of sexy animosity without tipping into meanness or abuse and it was done perfectly here. You could feel the push-pull of get away, oh but come closer for both Fiona and Vyk. I love an alpha hero especially when paired with a strong woman like in this story. Fiona is a human military officer and now one of the Strategy instructors at the Drexian Academy. Vyk is a former Inferno Force commander and the current Security Chief at the Drexian Academy. He has spent years to earn fearful respect from everyone and his past makes him not want to be around humans. Fiona knows all about his feelings about humans and it makes her furious. Despite their overwhelming attraction, Vyk and Fiona are like oil and water. In the way of the best enemies to lovers romances, their chemistry sizzled off the page and it pulled them together no matter how hard they tried to resist. Especially after Fiona loses a bet in a card game resulting in the requirement to spend more time with Vyk. To get to their HEA, they will each need to do some baggage unpacking while dealing with threat to the Academy. Throughout the book there were several chapters from POVs other than the MCs which added to the main storyline and helped the story progress rather than detracting from it. I am excited to read more in this new Drexian series and to continue the story arc about Sasha, the missing human pilot. I also loved adding a Taori to the Academy group.
This is the third book in the Drexian Academy series, and while each book could technically be read as a standalone, there is an underlying story arcing over the series that continues to gather pace to find the missing pilot Sasha, who is languishing in a Kronock prison with her ‘rescuer’ occupying the cell next to her. There are also little details sprinkled throughout the story that relate to previous books and in this case would give a greater insight into how Vyk is viewed especially by the human contingency. As for the hero and heroine, well a human instructor in the school of Assassins and a former inferno commander, now chief of security at the Drexian Academy. It was obvious right from the start there were going to be fireworks between Fiona and Vyk just not the kind Fiona expected. Given Vyk’s reputation for hating all things human, the last thing she thought, was that the attraction she felt for the aloof, dominant silver fox would be mutual, in this enemies to lovers, fantasy/sci-fi romance. I loved the character of Vyk. His initial behaviour around Fiona, when he didn’t know how to make his feelings clear and his behaviour towards the visiting captain as he experienced jealously for the first time, made me think of a schoolboy with his first crush. Fiona was the kind of person who would probably consider herself one of the boys and was suspicious of Vyk’s change of heart so just she’s beginning to relax around him, the last thing she expected was her goodbye fling to arrive unexpectedly. Although this might just be the kick in the pants Vyk needs to man up…… or in this case Drex up and fight for who he wants!
Loyalty is the 3rd installment and another fantastic addition to the Warriors of the Drexian Academy series. This is Vyk and Fiona's story. I've been excited for their book since we met these characters in the previous novel and I wasn't disappointed.
These two had an enemies-to-lovers going on but you could feel the underlying tension and chemistry between them. I loved their banter, bickering and the push and pull as they constantly challenged each other and eventually when they couldn't resist, the passion was scorching hott. Individually they were both incredible characters but I adored them together and they made a great team. Inspite of all they went through in their past, I loved seeing them find their HEA together.
Something I'm loving with this series is that it's not just romance between the main couple. We are given an engrossing plot, as the planning for a dangerous rescue mission is still ongoing, an unexpected visitor arrives, enemies are heading for Drex and so much more.
Additionally, the story boast a cast of secondary characters who all play a heavy roll in the story and I love catching up with the couples from the previous books.
This sci-fi / enemies-to-lovers / age gap alien- human romance was an entertaining tale that gave us humor, danger, betrayal, suspense, steam, action and unexpected twists. I loved it and can't wait for the next book. I would highly recommend this novel and the series.
This was a fun story taking place during the break in the Academy's school year. It had a quieter feel and a certain amount of circus to it. It felt like the characters spent a lot of time wandering around the big empty school looking for each other. Maybe I missed why they don't have any ability to text each other and ask where they are? It actually brought a certain humor to the story that I was okay with. This was also helped along by getting multiple characters' points of view.
I also really liked that the Immortal Army of the Taori are being woven into the books.
I'm not big on age gap stories - of course, the male is always the older one. And this MMC is not very likable. He actually occurs as set in his ways and spends a lot of the story struggling with prejudice against humans and women. I guess I had a hard time figuring out why she liked him. Although, his speech at the end is good. She is powerful enough to ask for what she wants and he was grown up enough, and learned enough humility, to give her exactly what she asked for.
My favorite line, from the MFC,
“If I’d held onto grievances as I’d worked my way through the military, I would have been nothing but a ball of fury held together with hairbands and mascara.”
I love this world that Tana has built. I absolutely devour these books because I love the characters and honestly everything else that I come across. This book made me laugh (Vyk’s poor pillow never stood a chance), gasp, and feel every emotion in between. The sparks between these two were flying the whole time (honestly in books previous to this one too). And I will never tire of the possessive and protective nature of these Drexians once they finally admit to themselves that they are in love with humans 😅😅
❤️ Tropes ❤️ 💋 enemies to lovers 💋 alien romance 💋 forced proximity 💋 silver fox/age gap
Fiona has busted her butt to get where she is, and she’s not going to let anyone make her feel like she is less than worthy or capable because she is 1. A human or 2. A female. If that means putting the security chief of the academy in his place, so be it. Of course he had to be her type, all silvery fox and good looking. Too bad his attitude ruins all he has going for him. But he volunteers to help with the mission find her best friend’s sister, who they just found out is alive and not dead, but being held prisoner. They just don’t know where. So it looks like while they try to figure that out, she is stuck spending a lot more time with Vyk than she would like.
Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the copy, all thoughts are my own.
Legend is book three in Tana Stone's Warriors of the Drexian Academy series, and closely follows books one (Legacy) and two (Loyalty). Even if each book has a different set of main characters, the story flows from one to the other, so they are not easy to read as stand alones. I had high expectations for Legend, since I've been curious about Vyk since book one. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. It feels like Legend was written in a rush. The wording is weird sometimes, and the plot isn't consistent at all. Some plot lines that came from the previous books are picked up in this one and then fade away, and new stuff is added out of the blue, but with little follow up. The alien attack at the end seems to have been added just to make sure there was some action in the book. Also, the alternative points of view from random characters from the previous books is confusing and adds very little to the story (this already irked me a bit in book two and it just got worse in this one). So, while I loved the first two books (the first one more than the second, but still), this one I have to rate with just three stars.
Vyk doesn't think human females are strong enough or smart enough to fight side by side with the Drexians. Fiona, the human instructor for the strategy branch of the Drexian Academy, is determined to prove him wrong. Vyk is cunning, and with his years of experience, he's honed his skills in the various branches of the Drexian army. But the human woman vexes him. He wants to get to know her without admitting it. One night during a card game with the instructors, Vyk beats Fiona. After the rest leave, Vyk gives Fiona a chance to try to win back her money. They play a second game. Fiona loses and must spend 3 nights with Vyk per the wager. An old friend of Fiona's from earth arrives on Drex to asses how the humans are assimilating with the Drexians. He has his own agenda. A side story about the search and rescue for a missing human woman is brought up in this story. I really enjoyed this story. The stories seem to get better and more exciting with each new release. I loved the cover of this book. Vyk is one hot older guy.
Right up front I have to say one of the things I love about these books is that now and then we get the POV of other than the main 2 characters! To me, this keeps the flow for the continuing thread of the story that runs through the series.
This is Fiona and Vyk's story. First Fiona is a Bada$$! She is strong, smart, funny and loving with her friends. Vyk is a reformed jerk 😁! Ok maybe not a jerk but he was a harda$$ who needed a swift kick in the backside. This book had me engrossed and involved from the beginning. Is there anything better than the grump that everyone else is afraid of falling hard for the one person who doesn't fear him and will tell him when his jerk-flag is flying? I don't think so! Anyway...characters 5+ stars...world building 5+ stars...storyline 5+5+ stars! Overall..get the book, you won't regret it. You do need to read the previous books in the series so you can follow the thread running through it but believe me that is no hardship! FANTASTIC READ!
The book we’ve all been waiting for…and it did not disappoint. These two, the sexy gruff silver fox and the sexy assassin were everything we knew they would be, all stubborn battle of wills, strategy and heat. A “Friendly” card game that upped the game. Gotta love sexy high stakes, especially with a gruff sexy dirty talking silver fox. One thing I will say is if you want a tour of the school, I don’t think Vyk’s your guy…just sayin🤣.
I love this series so much, and this was a fantastic addition to the already addicting series. This was a fantastic storyline that had you saying WTAF….and uh oh, yup in that voice, you know the one. Oh my gosh, and there are surprise appearances of my absolute favorite warriors…I was so excited, because I love them so much, and apparently I am not alone, because the other females were just as mesmerized by them. You’ll have to read. An epilogue that still has me wanting more, all Tana Stone books all the time, and an hea.
Legend is the third book in the Drexian Academy series and an exciting addition. Commander Vyk and Strategy instructor Fiona lead the way in this enemies-to-lovers, age gap romance that delivers a one two punch of vivid storytelling, action-adventure, passion, intrigue, suspense, and friendship. Vyk has harbored conflicting feelings for Fiona from the moment he saw her and there is no denying that deep down ambivalent emotions duel in Fiona towards the handsome older Drexian. Can the Drexian Security Chief prove to the female he hungers for that his assumptions about humans and females in the academy have changed? A bet and game of cards sets them on a path to a destiny neither could have imagined. With another masterfully written tome to engage and immerse yourself in a satisfying read will soon transport the reader into steamy, romantic goodness.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have read just about all of this author’s books and they never disappoint. But I apparently skipped at least one book in this series because the characters kept referring to some big events that had shaped their lives, but not quite enough so that I understood what happened or why. I did enjoy the story but there were a couple of disconcerting items. One part that seemed rushed was the big drama moment of an invading destructive force that was introduced and solved too easily in just a few pages. The other thing that was kind of confusing was that there were multiple POV’s from new characters when usually the POV’s were mostly only from the main characters. I don’t think they were important enough to the story to have their own Chapters. I found it distracting. However, it was still a great read and I would recommend it. A caveat though; read the series in order for the most enjoyment.
This is a simply wonderful read, great characters and a scenario that will captivate This is a thoroughly enjoyable read I loved the interaction between the assassin and the silver fox and as the friendly card game takes place and the stakes are raised it is impossible not to be blown away by this simply wonderful read. I have to say that you will thoroughly enjoy this read it was simply wonderful and I know that this is a wonderful series and I am sure that you will be hooked by this wonderful read. There will also be some unexpected appearances that will fill your imagination. I found this to be an exciting read and the other females are mesmerised by them and you will enjoy this simply wonderful read, it is an epilogue so you will be left looking out for more. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
This story featuring Vyk and Fiona is, l think, my favourite book in the series to date. I loved the sparring matches that went on between the two of them. Vyk and Fiona have a history of annoying each other from the moment they met, it’s only a matter of time until things literally come to a head. However, a spanner in the works arrives in the shape of a one night stand that Fiona had a while back, why is he visiting and what is his agenda? Loved how the relationship between Vyk and Fiona grew, loved the interactions from the other characters from previous stories and even the Taori turned up. An exciting, thrilling story that l thoroughly enjoyed.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and these are my thoughts and opinions.
This is the third book in the Drexian Academy series and it is an exciting fantastic addition. It was everything I was waiting for, lots of action, adventure, drama, suspense, intrigue, passion, steam, and romance. The story features Fiona and Vyk, I think their book is my favorite in this series out of the three so far. Vyk is a silver fox sexy Drexian who doesn't like humans being at the Drexian Academy. She's a take no gruff strategy instructor. I loved that she has a thing for silver foxes, and their banding heads and constant bickering was entertaining and had me laughing at times. They end up being pulled into a love and their happily ever after they weren't expecting.
I was given an advanced copy of this book and I'm reviewing this book with my honest opinion.
Legend is the third book in the Warriors of the Drexian Academy Series. I have been eagerly anticipating this book because of the ongoing tension between Fiona, the human military academy instructor and Drexian Commander Vyk, the academy’s security chief who doesn't like the humans at the academy, throughout the series. And boy this didn't disappoint. I really love this action packed enemies to lovers steamy sci-fi romance between a brooding and mysterious dominating silver fox and a feisty intelligent female assassin who keeps him on his toes. I enjoyed the different POV of multiple characters which moved the story along and set up the story for the next book in the series. I am loving this Drexian Academy series and I highly recommend this book.
This is the story of an stronger warrior like race intermingling with humans. They learn that humans may be mates for some of them. This book explores how they get along. The humans and aliens work together in a school for warriors light-years away from earth.
This is a multiple pov book with most of it centered on Fiona and Vyk. I love that this is definitely an enemies to lovers. Those are my favorite, but this is interesting in how they approach the idea of mates. For these to at least to me the connection was not as strong as it used to be to seeing until later in the book. The author drops the reader in the middle of the book so you kind of have to navigate on your own to what going on. I love it even still.
This silver fox, age gap, enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance... I don’t know what’s forbidden about it. It’s not like there aren’t already Drexian/human pairings.
Vyk: And I could not bear the rejection of another female, another human who found me lacking. I hope to learn what that’s all about.
Another entertaining read surrounding a threat to not only the Drexian Academy but the entire planet. One of Fiona’s former one-night stands is apparently fixated on her. He also holds an enormous grudge against the Drexians.
Vyk and Fiona manage to solve any misunderstandings between them to unite as a couple after she loses to him in a card game.
Loved reading this story. Another winner in this delightful series. We have a very strong, take no guff, determine woman, Strategy instructor Fiona and an older Drexian warrior Commander Vyk who's now Chief of Security of the Drexian Academy who's gruff, commitment phobic, silver fox going head-to-head throughout this enjoyable romance story. The both of them find themselves drawn toward each other which kept the intensity especially when Fiona's ex fling arrives. Will this end well for Vyk and Fiona? This action-filled, dramatic, romantic story was a very enjoyable read, with very likable characters to root for in this copy I'd received and volunteer to review. P.S. I loved how the main decision of their involvement was at a card game, it's how I met my husband, struck home.
And this story features all kinds of battles! There's Vyk and Fiona, whose frenemy romance scorched my e-reader from angry beginning to incendiary conclusion. There's Devon, whose friendly diplomatic visit to the Drexian Academy covers a personal vengeful streak. There's covert card game and betting battles. There's strategic stealth battles against lethal enemies. It might be a term break for the Academy's Drexian cadets, but the staff and human cadets still present unload a ton of action, angst, and suspense. The absent cadets are missing some crazy good stuff. So are you, dear reader, if you don't grab this book and read for yourself.
Vyk & Fiona were just sooooooooooo amazing together, their dynamic and hatred for each other was so good and so on point!!! Their teasing and the way they were challenging each other was just so good.
Tana did an excellent job with this book and these characters, I could feel everything and even more. Alien's romances are just a must read most of the time and I know they can be cringy but I love them and I loved their relationship, chemistry and just how they will do everything for each other. Like in this book. You definitely will have everything you dreamed for and more.
I absolutely, absolutely loved this story about Fiona who is an instructor from earth and Vyk, a Drexian former Inferno Force Commander, now Chief of Security in the Drexian Academy who constantly banging heads together and dealing with egos. Their constant bickering leads to a love that they weren’t expecting. There are lots of sexy times, but the story starts off slow, but gradually builds until the crescendo and the finale where they live happily ever after.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
I love Tana Stone and the worlds she creates. And those Drexians? Sigh
This is Fiona and Vyk’s story. In the first book Vyk was very anti-human. He made some bad choices because of it. He somewhat redeemed himself in that book though.
In Legend, Vyk and Fiona try to deny their attraction to each other but that doesn’t work out so well. Fiona’s former one night stand shows up at the Drexian Academy under false pretenses and puts the entire planet at risk. The work together to eliminate the threat. I love those silver foxes. I think Zoran is still my favorite though.
I was eager for this story in the series but was disappointed by it. The brilliant strategist Fiona suddenly became a dumb angry high schooler and the reader had to suffer through her rages and anger...it became tiring and stupid. She can't confront and ex-lover, can't think straight, stomps around most of the storyline. What is such an emotional human even is a power position? Maybe.others like pissed off women but dumb ones? I expected so much more in this story!
Get ready for an amazing adventure as you enjoy the third book in Tana Stone’s Drexian Academy series called Legend! Fiona is one of the human female Assassin strategy instructors who has knocked heads with the Drexian Academy head of security named Vyk. The two play a game of Drex cards, and Fiona loses all her money, so the devastatingly handsome Drexian ups the ante: three nights staying with him. He’s too honorable to insist that it include her to have sex, but it isn’t off the table if she agrees, which she won’t do. Then her last one night stand shows up to examine the academy’s human program, but Vyk isn’t believing that’s what the captain is there for, and, boy, is he right, but you’ll have to read it yourself to find out what he’s up to! Great HEA and weaving several series into one by this master writer!
Here we go again!!!! Another panty melting story that you start and don't put down until finished!!! This story has a bit slower tempo than in many of this authors prior releases, but that does not change the fact that it is well written, has great characters and is a master of unexpected twists. I can of course only say for myself but I really loved this story and am extremely glad that I can give it five fabulous stars.
I really enjoyed this latest installment of the Drexian Academy. I found the earth females in the military academy to be quite realistic to what our military women are like. Thoroughly bold and badass. The possessive and dominant Drexians are intriguing as mates as well, and the play on Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars an interesting juxtaposition. Another great book, can’t wait for the next one.
