Seongjun needs to get out some of his ‘frustration’ after starting CLAR1T’s first US tour. Using his burner social media account, leaving directions for a secret signal, he is ready for a fan to take a chance. What he isn’t ready for is the drop-dead gorgeous woman who drops the signal.
Sophia is mortified when she is hauled off by security at the hi-touch for CLAR1T. It was just a small video to show her friend! She’s thrown into a room where the door gets locked from the outside. When the door opens a few minutes later, it isn’t security striding through the door but Seongjun of CLAR1T. She’s even more shocked by what he’s offering.
The ecstasy and freedom they share that night turns into more than just FAN SERVICE.
Samantha Ann has such a unique way of writing, I love that she writes some word and phrases in Korean, so that the reader can learn a little bit of the written language as they read.
This book is short but has a good amount of spice, like for a k-pop fan, it feeds into the delulu fantasies we have. I absolutely love the fact that the main female character is a thicker girl and not the typical Korean standards.
Can't wait for the third book to come out, looking to see which member of CLAR1T will be next.
The fact that Seongjun was the one who posted the tweet to look for his hook-up was interesting to read, poor Sophia had no clue what she was walking into. But, once she got into it she was a wild animal, willing to try anything with Seongjun. I loved the fact that we got a glimpse into the future for these two.
Thank you so much to Samantha for trusting me to beta read the second book of The Idolized Series! As with the first one, I'm so honored to have had the chance to beta read Samantha's work because I love her writing, her stories, and the characters she creates.
This short, spicy novella had everything. It was sweet, sexy, there was a curvy female main character, and a lot of conversation about boundaries and consent, which is so, so important to have representation of in books in my opinion.
Samantha did a wonderful job with this novella, and I already have it on my shelf now as a trophy.
Thank you, Samantha, for writing such a wonderful story.
I will never get over Samantha Ann's ability to encapsulate the reader into her world!
I absolutely love the relationship between Seong Jun and Sophia! Sophia carried herself so beautifully even when she was insecure. Seong Jun handled her with such care!
though very smutty it was also romantic cute and funny. I really enjoyed reading the book. I like that they both kinda of taught each other to live themselves first.
1 Star So basically take the typical premise of a 14 year olds wattpad fanfic, apply it to any fandom of any type and you'll find this exact story of "I met my favorite musician, had a one night stand, he fell in love though he knew it was crazy and he was just trying to get off to release stress, and now we live happily ever after in a whole different continent and no one has a single issue with any of this." Also apply the extremely obvious typos made throughout a wattpad story, random bits of korean a full ass american white girl apparently understands, which makes it feel like a typical asian fetish story, but there are romanizations and translations at the end of each chapter so you have to flip constantly to know whats being said if you don't already know hangeul. The romanizations are very typo'ed as well like the previous novella. Apparently, this is supposed to be helpful somehow, but when I was at lower level of korean understanding, this would have just thrown me for a loop. Means well, but was not executed well at all and not by a native which also brings issues. Female main has a horrible body image which brings in the whole LOVE YOURSELF BTS trope while he screws her in front of a mirror. Not to mention the awful cringe everyone experiences when they are self conscious in some way. We are here for the smut, not to remember how awkward it feels for a hot dude to see our fat rolls. NEEEEXT~
So let me start with I don’t mind the ridiculous premise and total lack of practicality (giant Kpop group and no special access to floor? No front desk even questioning scantily clad lady showing up and punching elevator to what should be a secured floor, bodyguards laying hands on fans, clueless staff/managers) What I wasn’t expecting was to have to read/translate Hangul while reading an English short smutty romance. And not just once or twice for emphasis, but the main characters’ names, common phrases and expletives are all in Korean. With a helpful end of lesson vocab list for every chapter. It was weird, threw me out of the story and was reminiscent of those French and Chinese readers I had in High school. I also get where the consent and affirmations come from, but between never seeing the MMC’s name in English, and having to swap between two languages I didn’t resonate with either character. I do not read romances to get language lessons. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves in some really well known works. If I have to carry around a dictionary, or be fluent in a different language than the one the story is written in then it’s not a story I wish to read.
Seongjun is feeling frisky and needs a little stress relief. His plan? A quick hookup and some much-needed sexual healing. He sends a message from a burner account with a code, and, as luck would have it, his perfect woman answers the call.
Sophia didn't know what the signal meant; she just followed the instructions to use it during the fan meeting. She hadn't expected Seongjun to meet with her and offer her a no-holds-barred sexcapade, but once she realizes what is happening, she throws her inhibitions out the door. Their connection leaves them both longing for more. Do they have what it takes to go the distance?
I've read all three novellas in this series, and this is easily the weakest. Little character building, poor plotting, and a total immersion in fan fantasy that leaves reality far behind. As part of the set it works, but I wouldn't recommend it on its own.
Love the way these books are designed to include Korean phrases consistently and naturally. I feel like I am in a real conversation with an idol! So nice to also see the love build in a way that feels consistent and realistic. Love at first sight is very hard to write in a believable way, but this was amazing! Highly recommend for all those romantics out there hoping for their one and only whether they are an idol or not!
Did his "Do you want to fuck an idol?" line give me violent ick? Yes. But would I be lying if I said I wouldn't break my wrist to sign that NDA if Hyunjin asked me that same question? Also yes.
This is for the delulu girls gays and theys who have a whole folder of edits and imagines saved. We're here for a good time, not a literary masterpiece.
This one was even less plot than the first one😭 I really enjoyed the first book! I enjoyed this one too but we got nothing from this compared to the first one where we at least got someeee type of plot and knew the characters. Super rushed ending as well. The spice was also a tad cringey at some parts. 2.5 stars
This kinda felt like the same book just different characters? Idol wanting to step away from the spotlight, and insecure girl with curves...However, it handled it differently than the first book and I kinda liked it better. A lot freakier too though, but at least I was more mentally prepared, lmaoooo.
Listen. Am I going to sit here and say this book is a masterpiece? No. But will I sit here and admit it fed the part of my delusions that absolutely did not need feeding? Yes. Yes, I will 🙂↕️
it was better than the first? but that’s not saying much. i went to read reviews of this author’s other books and i saw a one star review talk about the gross fetishization of asian men and how these books perpetuate that. i can’t get that out of my head and now i feel icky for reading it.
