Here comes the bride, and whoops....there goes the groom.

Everly Dupree thought getting married for the second time would be the hardest thing she ever did. It wasn't. Drew Parker was the perfect man for her, and their wedding at the renovated Wentworth mansion was everything she'd dreamed of—until Ernie Polk arrived at the reception with handcuffs instead of congratulations.

When Jerry Kaminski turns up dead after making inappropriate advances toward Everly at her bachelorette party, all evidence points to Drew. Now, instead of jetting off on her honeymoon, Everly is juggling prison visits and an increasingly irritating ghost who won't leave her alone until she finds the real killer.

With the help of her reluctant ghost-whispering mother and friends who've become expert amateur detectives, Everly races to uncover the truth. But in Mooselick River, secrets run deeper than wedding vows, and the real murderer won't hesitate to kill again to keep Drew behind bars.

If Everly can't solve the case fast, "till death do us part" might come sooner than she ever imagined.

Dealing With an Annoying Ghost . . .

** 4.5 Stars **
Ernie Polk arrived at the wedding reception wearing his “cop face”. This didn’t bode well. As Everly said goodbye to a guest, Ernie walked up to her new husband and announced, “Drew Parker, I’m placing you under arrest for the murder of Jerry Kaminski.” Jerry had a crush on Everly, but nothing ever came of it since she ignored his annoying advances. Drew was aware of his actions but would never have thought of killing the man! Unfortunately, the public arrest was attracting a large crowd of guests clamoring to see what was going on.

Finally they sent Everly home to cry in private over the disaster of her wedding day. But it looked like whether she liked it or not, Everly would be investigating this murder as Jerry Kaminski’s ghost hovered at the foot of the porch steps of her home before she could get the key in the lock. He invades her privacy and, much to her disgust, he greedily stares at her cleavage as he says he expects her to solve his murder if she wants to clear her husband’s name. Unfortunately, he’s right! This is going to be a most unpleasant “investigation” until she can bring Drew home for their delayed honeymoon!

The tone of this book was so morose. For good reason though. After all, the opening is Everly’s new husband Drew getting taken away in handcuffs by Officer Polk during Drew and Everly’s wedding reception! Why? Drew’s fingerprints were found on a murder weapon. Drew, a killer? Pshaw!

And of course the victim, Jerry appears in his ghostly form for Everly to be victimized by his incessant flirting and accusations about Drew killing him.

So the entire book is about Everly and her amazing friends pulling together enough witnesses and evidence to exonerate Drew. The actual killer? That’s a sad one, actually. I won’t say whodunnit, but I was more disappointed than I usually am in cozy mysteries.

Next book in this series is “Mourning After: A Ghost Cozy Mystery Series (Haunted Everly After Book 14)”. However, we’ll be waiting awhile before we can read it because it won’t be released until September 27, 2025.

My next cozy mystery to read is “Murder & Misdirection (Florida Keys Bed & Breakfast Cozy Mystery Book 6)” by Danielle Collins. It has been 2 1/2 years since I read book 5! Hopefully I’ll remember all the characters once I get to reading.

Deuces to your Cabooses!
See you in the funny pages! 😉

Another great book in this series. The characters are great and the murder mystery is very puzzling.

Even before it started. When a travel snafu cancels Everly Dupree's honeymoon plans, her friend Amethyst offers the perfect solution: a beachfront rental in Oakville with friends, relaxation, and most importantly—no ghosts.

Everly should have known better. Two days into her "ghost-free" mini-honeymoon, the neighboring food truck festival is in chaos over a missing vendor, and not one but three persistent spirits have crashed her vacation. So much for peace and quiet.

When the missing woman's scarf turns up in the boat Everly and Drew have been using, what began as a simple getaway transforms into another supernatural investigation. With the local police eyeing the newlyweds suspiciously and a trio of demanding ghosts refusing to cross over, Everly's beach retreat has become anything but restful.

As the evidence mounts and dark secrets wash ashore, Everly realizes this coastal town harbors dangers as deep as the ocean itself. If she can't uncover the truth soon, her makeshift honeymoon might end with another murder—or worse, her own.

A Murder and a Solid Arrest?

Join Everly and Dre, hey wait a minute where’s Drew? Umm well, you see it’s like this the night before their wedding Drew was with the guys at the local bar to celebrate a bit, while there, a man known to chase other men’s women came up to Drew and told him to lay off Everly because he had no chance with her because she loved him. Drew knowing his relationship was solid just let the man who’s name was Jerry speak and turned around ignoring him, now that would have been fine but later that night Jerry was murdered, and if you haven’t guessed by now Drew was arrested for Jerry’s death. Now I could go on and tell you the whole story but I figure by now I have your interest just dying to know what happens, but if you want to know that, then I recommend you buy this book and read it for yourself, like I always say, you won’t regret it;)

Newly-wed Drew is in jail for supposedly killing a jerk who flirted with his now wife. Of course Everly and friends are doing everything they can to learn more about Jerry Kaminski and why someone would want to murder him. When Everly figures it out, she confronts the killer in the time honoured manner of all foolish protagonists.

"I know you killed him."

"Well, yes, yes I did. Now let's leave this safe place with all these people around and go talk about it in privacy."

Why do authors make their characters do such a stupid thing? It really isn't necessary. A little thought could provide them with a more interesting ending where the character doesn't look like a fool.

Spooky addition to the Haunted Everly After series by Regina Welling Erin Lynn
Right after their wedding, Drew is arrested for murder.
Problem, Drew had had a disagreement with Jerry, the deceased. Other people in town also had issues with him, they just had to figure out which ones.
Advantage: Everly and her friends, both alive and ghostly, are on the job to prove Drew’s innocence.
For every suspect they come up with, none seem to fit or they have an alibi.

So, the wedding happens, the groom is arrested by police and now it's up to Everly and her friends to try to prove he didn't murder a most obnoxious guy.

The wedding night? Forget that. The groom is in the clink. Then the ghost of the dead guy shows up and we learn that dying didn't improve his attitude at all.

There's going to be a hearing and if Everly and her friends can't find the real killer then her husband is going to go on trial for murder.

Not a good way to start married life.

Another really good addition to the series.

Marriage or jail

Some would say that they are the same. NOT! What a way to start married life. Everly and Drew hadn't even gotten through their reception when Polck came and slapped those silver bracelets on Drew. Jerry was annoying in life he's much worse as a ghost. Find who killed Jerry and prove that Drew didn't do it. Every has her work cut out for her. On to the next adventure!💙💚😉

Well Written, And Worth The Read

However I KNEW who the killer was, and why, halfway into the book, when he.... oops.... read the book yourself, and see if you catch that clue. The first clue is, as always, in the first chapter, but it's not the dead give away.

Absolutely delightful story for everyone. Everly ‘s life seemed to be doing better since she remarried. Then disaster struck. Now she has to clear her husband’s name. We even have a ghost to deal with. Not to be missed story, well written as always.

Wow, what a ride!

As cozy mysteries are concerned, this series is fun, fast paced, and exciting to read. I am pleased with the endings and love the challenge of figuring out who the murderer is!

This one seemed to drag a bit for me. I really do enjoy the series and the characters. I guess this one just wasn't one of my favorites.

The authors tied up some loose ends and wrapped it up. Some chapters flow faster than others. I wish you all ~ Happy Reading!
