Wayne Dundee's "Ruthless Valley" - A Gritty Tale of Justice in the Old West
The Western genre has been declared dead time and again, but authors like Wayne Dundee keep proving the naysayers wrong. With the release of "Ruthless Valley," the tenth book in the Lone McGantry series, Dundee once again showcases his ability to weave a tale that's as rugged and expansive as the American West itself. "Ruthless Valley" finds our steadfast hero, Lone McGantry, in the throes of treachery and betrayal. A favor for a friend quickly spirals into a quest for justice, pitting McGantry against a backdrop of unscrupulous characters. The narrative is rich with the elements that fans of Dundee have come to expect: a raw portrayal of the frontier, complex characters, and a storyline that gallops along at a breakneck pace. In "Ruthless Valley," McGantry's resolve is tested as never before, challenging his notions of loyalty and duty. The book's antagonist, attorney Niles Lavin, and his ruthless investigator are formidable foes, embodying the greed and corruption that often lurked beneath the surface of the frontier's promise. Their plan to seize control of a valley teeming with resources sets the stage for a confrontation that is as much about the spirit of the West as it is about the individuals who inhabit it.
Dundee's prose is as sharp as a Bowie knife, cutting to the heart of the human condition. His depiction of the landscape is vivid, painting a picture of a world that is beautiful yet unforgiving. The action scenes are meticulously crafted, ensuring that readers can almost hear the thunder of hooves and the crack of gunfire. "Ruthless Valley" is more than just a Western; it's a study in the endurance of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming odds. It's a reminder that, even in the most lawless of times, there are those who stand as beacons of justice. Wayne Dundee has not only penned a thrilling addition to the Lone McGantry saga but has also contributed a significant work to the canon of Western literature. At first, I was getting pissed. How much longer is this man going to be alone!! Then, I remembered the title and the name of the title character. 😎 How many different ways can one come up with to keep Lone alone? A lot! So, I finished the book. I enjoyed the story and your writing style, but I don't know if I'll read another Lone adventure.
Very well written book and \ or story. It really kept you guessing what was going to happen next. It was a crime story western all in one. Loved the ending, but as usual. Lone !most out in the woman side of things,,,lol
Yes I would recommend reading this book to one and all.
I enjoy these Lone McGantry books. The settings are from my home country and do track closely with the actual locales. An interesting taste of the Old West written from the heart of it, Ogallala, Nebraska.
Even though I like this series. This one seemed to be sort of not as thrilling as the others…. I still give it a 5/5 star rating and I am looking forward to the next book.
