The Gansett Island series has become like going down a wonderful memory lane. McKenzie Martin or MK as she's called who we met during the hurricane(#24)is dealing with losing her home due to the hurricane and is adjusting to being put up in Duke's garage apartment along with her baby while she figure out some things. Duke has been alone for so long that he surprise himself when he offers his garage apartment to Mckenzie and her baby. So begins their story. As with past Gansett books we not only get a main story but we catch up with other couples as well.

Renewal After Dark is IMHO astoundingly, in an age when contemporary romance writers seem loathe to create a series that lasts more than a handful of books, the 27th book in author Marie Force’s Gansett Island series. And what I found really remarkable about this story was that along with her main story involving tattoo artist Duke Sullivan’s and single mom McKenzie’s love story, Ms. Force managed to involve most if not all of the main characters from the previous 26 books in some way, whether they made an actual appearance or were just referenced in passing, as the Island’s residents begin to work together to put their lives back in order after a powerful hurricane devastates the Island. Hence the Renewal in the book’s title. This book is basically a continuation of the story that began in Resilience After Dark, the 25th book in this series in which the Island prepares for and endures the onslaught of a powerful hurricane. I’m not certain why the author or her publishers chose to include After Dark in these titles? In the adult contemporary romance world doing so normally implies there’ll be more and possibly kinkier sex in a book. As is Force’s usual M.O., while there are definitely a few sex scenes in this book that while not extremely explicit are explicit enough to warrant the adult label. Still, this book is fairly tame compared to many adult contemporary romances. The McCarthy family that has served as the backbone of this series and the Lawrys who were later introduced, are of course most prominent as secondary characters, but so too many of the other characters we’ve come to know and love. Tiffany who is neither a McCarthy nor a Lawry (but whose older sister Maddie was the first female protagonist in this series is) and her now husband Blaine, Gansett Island’s sheriff, are the most prominent secondary characters in this book as struggles with her emotions during the search for Jim, her missing ex-husband and father of her oldest daughter. You don’t have to have read all of the previous 26 books in this series to enjoy this book but there’s a good chance the author has done her job of teasing the other stories well enough that you’ll want to read them too. And lucky for you they are now all available and I believe available on K.U.
Quite honestly this books expansive blurb reveals so much of this story I can’t really say much more without being redundant or loading this review with spoilers. I’ll just say I very much enjoyed this book. A big part of that was that returning to Gansett Island is for me like visiting and catching up with old friends. While this book can easily be read as a standalone, I can’t say for certain that if it’s your first visit to the island you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. But I’m fairly certain if you’re just a lover of contemporary romance you will enjoy it.

Once again, Marie Force has made me fall in love all over again with the Gansett Island crew. Duke and McKenzie are perfect for each other and I love how much Duke adores Jax. It was great to catch up with my favorite islanders and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Nice catch up

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️. It is always great to catch up with the residents of Gansett Island. While I enjoyed Duke and McKenzie‘s story, it seemed to be instant love on steroids. Getting updates on the other family members at times overshadowed Duke and McKenzie’s story. It feels like Adam and Abby‘s storyline has been going on forever. I hope at some point we get a book focused on them and what they are going through.

Gansett Island books are their own genre, more like a tv soap opera than a romance novel. Keeping that in mind, it's always a lot of fun to catch up with all the various characters and narratives, although the number of pregnancies does stagger the imagination. I like the idea of seeing the kids and parents interacting when the kids are teenagers, though. While the romance narrative is severely curtailed due to the sheer volume of other content, I did love Duke. He's sweet.

Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist total flüssig, liest sich super und ist sehr leicht verständlich.

Ich fande alle Charaktere von Anfang an total sympathisch und liebenswert. Des weiteren gibt es noch ein paar andere Charaktere. . Meiner Meinung nach sind alle Charakter sehr gelungen und haben einen sehr guten Platz im Buch bekommen.

Mir hat „Zuflucht auf Gansett Island“ von Marie Force unglaublich gut gefallen. Das ist schon der 27. Band der Reihe und ich liebe jedes einzelne davon. In diesem Teil lernen wir McKenzi und Duke kennen. Ich habe sie auch schon in mein Herz geschlossen, weil sie bei vorherigen Bänden schon ihren kleinen Auftritt hatten. McKenzi hat bei dem Sturm ihr Haus verloren und da bietet Duke ihr und ihrem Sohn an bei sich zu wohnen. Das die beiden Gefühle füreinander haben, müss ja nicht der andere unbedingt erfahren ;) Während sich die beiden Hauptprotagonisten immer näher kommen, hält die andere Inselgemeinschaft zusammen und sucht nach zwei Vermissten....
Mir persönlich hat das Buch richtig gut gefallen. Es war wie nach Hause kommen. Aber bei dem 27. Band fühlt es sich wirklich wie daheim an. Ich mag die Reihe total gerne, weil auch immer die andern Charaktere vorkommen und man so alles von der Insel erfährt. Der Schreibstil von der Autorin war wie immer total locker und leicht zu lesen, die Charaktere sind absolut authentisch und sympathisch. Das Setting ist eine reine Wohlfühloase. Ich mag es total gerne. Deshalb bekommt das Buch von mir auch verdiente 5 Sterne und eine klare Leseempfehlung.

Fazit:

Toller Liebesroman mit zwei besonderen Charakteren und ein Wiedersehen mit den anderen Inselbewohnern.

Das Cover ist im klassischen Stil der „Die McCarthys“-Reihe gestaltet. Zu sehen ist eine Szene am Strand: Ein Mann hebt eine Frau hoch, die ihre Arme um seinen Nacken gelegt hat, während von oben ein Zweig mit rosa Blüten ins Bild ragt. Die rötlichen Wolken und die Sonne, die langsam Richtung Horizont zieht, verleihen der Szene eine wunderschöne, fast greifbare Atmosphäre.

Zuflucht auf Gansett Island von Marie Force ist bei Montlake erschienen und bereits der 27. Band der Reihe. Ich habe alle Bücher dieser Serie in der einen oder anderen Form verschlungen: viele als Hörbuch, einige als E-Book und ein paar als Taschenbuch.

Dieser Band schließt direkt an den 26. Teil an, in dem Hurricane Ethel über die Insel fegte. Jetzt steht Bestandsaufnahme an: Vermisste suchen, Wiederaufbau organisieren und sich um die betroffenen Familien kümmern. Im Mittelpunkt stehen McKenzie und Duke. McKenzie ist kurz vor dem Hurricane auf die Insel gezogen, um sich mit ihrem neun Monate alten Sohn Jax im Ferienhaus ihrer verstorbenen Großmutter Rosemary niederzulassen. Duke lebt seit seiner Teenagerzeit auf der Insel, hatte in Rosemary, eine mütterliche Ersatzfigur gefunden und wohnt direkt neben ihrem Ferienhaus.

Wer die Verbindungen richtig zusammensetzt, kann sich vorstellen, was folgt. Den Weg dorthin möchte ich dir nicht verraten. Die Geschichte nimmt dich mit auf eine Reise zu vielen liebgewonnenen Figuren auf der Insel. Wie gewohnt bei Marie Force haben sich die Paare lieb und überall gibt es Kinder. Bei 27 Büchern ist das nicht verwunderlich. In diesem Band geht es um Kinder, Hochzeiten und natürlich die Nachwirkungen des Hurricanes. Dabei begleiten wir unter anderem Abby und Adam, bangen mit ihnen und erleben mit Tiffany und ihrer Tochter emotionale Momente.

Bei der Fülle an Figuren würde ich dir raten, nicht mit diesem Band in die Reihe einzusteigen. Auch wenn die Liebesgeschichte von McKenzie und Duke in sich abgeschlossen ist, ist es sonst schwer, die Hintergründe der anderen Figuren nachzuvollziehen, da nicht jeder Gedankengang ausführlich erklärt wird.

Als kleiner Die McCarthys-Junkie habe ich den Band wieder sehr genossen. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass mir diesmal die heile Welt und das überaus höfliche Miteinander ein bisschen auf die Nerven ging. Die Dialoge wirken manchmal eine Nuance zu liebevollen und herzlich. Vielleicht lag es aber auch daran, dass ich vorher ein emotional düsteres Hörbuch gehört hatte und der Kontrast einfach sehr groß war.

Warst du schon einmal gedanklich auf Gansett Island oder Zeuge der zerstörerischen Kraft eines Hurricanes? Dann ist „Zuflucht auf Gansett Island“ von Marie Force genau das Richtige für dich. Begleite die Insulaner beim Wiederaufbau, schau kurz in jede Familie hinein und erlebe, wie sich ihre Geschichten weiterentwickelt haben. Genieße die besondere Serienstimmung und die Liebe zwischen McKenzie und Duke, die den sonst so furchteinflößenden Tätowierer von einer ganz neuen Seite zeigt, als jemanden, der ein Herz für Jax und alles, was das Baby braucht hat. Für alle, die die Serie bereits kennen, gibt es von mir eine klare Leseempfehlung.

'Zuflucht auf Gansett Island' ist der 27. Band der Mc Carthys Reihe und stammt aus der Feder von Marie Force.

Jap. Ihr habt richtig gelesen - 27 Bände der Reihe gibt es tatsächlich mittlerweile. Und ich muss zugeben, den Erfolg der Reihe kann ich nachempfinden. Denn der angenehme Schreibstil der Autorin plus das wunderschöne Örtchen auf der Insel Gansett Island verzaubert die Leser*innen und hat auch meinen Lesegeschmack getroffen. 

Ich wollte schon lange die Reihe lesen und da hab ich dann spontan mit diesem Band gestartet.

Man kann die Reihe definitiv unabhängig lesen. Aber. Ich glaube, man würde vielleicht einfach schon tiefer mit den ganzen Charakteren, die das cozy Kleinstadtfeeling ausmachen, verbunden sein, wenn man die Vorgängerbände gelesen hat. Ich werde deshalb die Reihe nochmal wirklich von Band 1 an chronologisch verfolgen und dann auch diesen Band nochmal lesen.

Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich das Buch genossen und die Geschichte rund um die junge Mama Mc Kenzie und Duke gerne verfolgt.
Mc Kenzie ist eine tolle Protagonistin, die ich direkt ins Herz geschlossen habe und der Tätowierer Duke ist einfach eine gute Seele, die es im Leben bisher aber auch nicht immer leicht hatte und somit sein Päckchen zu tragen hat.
Und natürlich gab es so süße Momente mit dem kleinen Jax, die mein Herz haben höher schlagen lassen 🥹🙌.

Rundum eine schöne Story, auch wenn die Thematik in diesem Teil mit der Zerstörung des Sturms natürlich wirklich schlimm ist 😥. Aber es war so schön zu lesen, wie sich alles gegenseitig helfen, zum Wiederaufbau von Gansett Island mit anpacken und vor allem wie herzlich Mc Kenzie auf der Inselgemeinschaft aufgenommen wurde. Da könnte man sich im echten Leben tatsächlich ab und an mal eine Scheibe davon abschneiden. Es waren wirklich berührende Momente dabei.

Und ganz nebenbei haben wir auch noch einen spannungsgladenen Teil, der die Story auffrischt. Denn es gilt, neben dem Wiederaufbau des Dorfes, auch noch die beiden Männer zu finden, die seit dem Sturm vermisst werden....

Fazit:

Definitiv eine Reihe, die ich weiterverfolgen möchte und mich mit ihrem Charme in den Bann gezogen hat.

In " Zuflucht auf Gansett Island (Die McCarthys 27) " hat die junge Singlemom McKenzie mit ihrem neunmonatigen Sohn Jax beim Hurrican Ethel das geerbte Fereinenhäuschen von Großmutter Rosemary verloren, dabei wollte sie auf Gansett Island nach ihrer gescheiterten Beziehung einen Neuanfang wagen.
Nachbar Duke hat nicht nur einen Teil ihrer Habseligkeiten aus dem Trümmern ihrer Hauses gerettet, sondern beiden auch eine Wohnmöglichkeit angeboten.
Für Duke ist das ganze eine Herzensangelegenheit, denn nicht nur das McKenzie die Enkelin Rosemarys ist, sondern in Duke Gefühle weckt. Gefühle die der neun Jahre ältere Mann noch nie so gespürt hat.
Das McKenzie sich ebenfalls, und das trotz ihrer jüngsten Vergangenheit, zu Duke mit dessen scheinbar rauhen Schale hingezogen fühlt, macht das ganze nicht leichter.
Zeitgleich geht auf Gansett Island das Aufräumen nach dem Sturm los und zudem werden zwei Inselbewohner vermisst, was eine große Suche zu Land und Wasser aufruft.
Derweil hat auch die Familie McCarthy genug Sorgen und alle Hände voll mit und für ihre Liebsten zu tun.
Werden McKenzie und Duke unter diesen Voraussetzungen überhaupt eine Chance bekommen? Oder steht ihrem Glück zuviel im Weg? Und wie ergeht es den anderen Inselbewohnern mit all den teils schwierigen Bedingungen nach dem Hurrican?
Auch treffen wir wieder auf liebgewonnene Protas der Vorgängerbände, allen voran die Familie McCarthy.
Die Story hat mich gleich wieder mit nach Gansett Island genommen, dabei bleibt sie spannungsgeladen sowie abwechslungsreich. Man kann sich McKenzie, Jax und Duke mitfiebern und die verschiedensten Emotionen erleben. Es gibt einiges zum schmunzeln bis herzhaft zu lachen, so manche mitfühlende, tragische wie auch brisante Momente und das ein oder andere Tränchen zu vergießen.
Da ich erfahren wollte, ob und wie es für beide ein Happy End gab, konnte ich das Buch kaum noch aus der Hand legen.
Das Buch bekommt von mir eine Lese / Kaufempfehlung und 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Sterne.

Der Freigeist und sein neues Glück
Ich begleite die Autorin mit Gansett Island von Band 1 an und kann es fast nicht glauben, dass es hier schon der 27. Band ist. Wunderschön und wie nach Hause kommen, ist es für mich mittlerweile schon.
Eine kleine Welt auf der Insel ist entstanden, keine heile Welt um es hier mal deutlich zu sagen. Es wird gekämpft und geliebt, das Leben schlägt erbittert und hart zu. Jeder hat sein Päckchen zu tragen.
Die Familie McCarthy und alle anderen Bewohner sind eine besondere Gemeinschaft geworden. Der Freigeist Duke und die junge McKenzie mit ihrem neun Monate alten Sohn Jax, kann das was werden ? Ist es tatsächlich Liebe auf den ersten Blick und hat das alles eine Vorgeschichte mit der Großmutter von McKenzie? Schicksal kommt mir hier in den Sinn.
Ja, mit diesem Vornamen für eine junge Frau hab ich gehadert, ist mir irgendwie zu neutral. Geschmackssache, somit nicht relevant für die Bewertung.
Jeder Band ist hervorragend geschrieben und vermittelt Werte, hat Tiefgang.
Packt Themen an, die einem Nahe gehen. Flüssig geschrieben mit sehr viel Gefühl und Empathie, macht das Ganze rund. Besonders gut gefällt mir an dieser Reihe, dass es zwar um einzelne Paare geht, aber parallel zu den anderen Bewohnern. Das ist das mittendrin, statt nur dabei. Kann gut als Einzelband gelesen werden.
Denn vollen Lesegenuss hat man, wenn man schon ein paar Namen und Familienverhältnisse kennt.
Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Band… hoffentlich dauert es nicht zu lange.

"Zuflucht auf Gansett Island" ist der 27 😱 Teil der "Die McCarthys" Reihe. Normalerweise würde ich jetzt sagen, jeder Teil könnte vollkommen unabhängig voneinander gelesen werden. Doch bei dieser Reihe gibt es eine Besonderheit, es gibt immer eine Hauptgeschichte, ein Hauptpärchen, um das es geht, doch es gibt noch einige Nebengeschichten. Entweder geht eine Geschichte aus einem vergangenen Teil noch weiter, oder es entwickeln sich noch neue Verbindungen. Gerade wenn man diese vergangenen Teile noch nicht kennt, ist es doch schwierig, richtig in die Geschichte hineinzukommen.

Mir waren gerade diese Nebengeschichten einfach zu viel, ich musste öfter mal nach Namen suchen, da ich nicht wirklich wusste, wer es jetzt genau war. Ich bin zwar von Anfang an zwar sehr gut in das Buch gestartet, doch ganz im Ernst... mir war es hier doch viel zu viel Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen auf Gansett Island. Alle lieben sich, gefühlt jede Frau ist schwanger, meistens sogar nicht nur mit einem Kind und im Besonderen findet hier gefühlt jede alleinerziehende Mutter hier ihre große Liebe. Selbst mir, die unheimlich gerne Liebesgeschichten liest, war es einfach manchmal zu viel des Guten. Aber das ist nur meine Meinung. Dankeschön, dass ich es lesen durfte.

I always love going to Gansett Island, and this story did not disappoint. MK, Makenzie Martin and Duke Sullivan are the sweetest!!! Who wouldn't want a Duke in their life. He is so thoughtful, caring, kind, and so loving! And so Sexy! Makenzie is adorable, hardworking, intelligent, and so very sexy. Jax is one cute loveable baby boy that is so lucky to have his wonderful mom and Duke, and all the Island people around him. While one person wrote they felt they were getting a recap of Gansett Island, I don't agree with that at all. We get to see many of the central characters in this story that bring in new information. I love seeing all the people on the Island and catching up with their lives. The writing flows very well, and everyone involved contributes to this fabulous story. I am looking forward to Gansett Island #26! Thank you Marie Force for continuing to write books in this magnificent series. I have read and loved each and every book.

Another wonderful Gansett Island book
After the hurricane hit Gansett Island, everyone is trying to rebuild and helping their neighbors. Duke Sullivan finds his neighbor's granddaughter and her infant son to take care of them since their cabin was destroyed. He offers his apartment above his garage until they get the cabin rebuilt. Mckenzie "MK" Martin was willed her grandmother's cabin and thought it would be a chance for a new start. Duke and MK have an attraction to each other even though there's a nine year difference in their age. I thought it was wonderful the way Duke stepped up to take care of MK and her son. We also get to see everyone else on Gansett that we've met in the past. It was great getting caught up with them and seeing how everyone takes care of everyone else. I can't wait for the next book I liked Holly Warren's narration, too.

As with each book in the Gansett Island series, Renewal After Dark is like catching up with family, with the addition of new members in McKenzie and baby Jax. As the island continues clean-up from Hurricane Ethel, island tattoo artist Duke Sullivan brings his beloved late neighbor's granddaughter and her sweet baby to live in his garage apartment, as the cottage McKenzie inherited collapsed in the hurricane. Duke and McKenzie (and baby Jax) have such a sweet and beautiful story. Add in all of the island resident check-ins (I can't wait for more from Adam, Abby & the babies), and I'm always looking forward to more from Gansett as a whole. The audio edition of Renewal After Dark is very well done! Holly Warren does an excellent job giving a voice to each character, and it is well worth the listen!

This was a sweet, funny and wonderful book of love. It gave us a chance to catch up with all the couples we have come to love so much on Gansett Island. It is always great to read a new story about Gansett Island, it’s like coming home to your family as you get to catch up with what is going on in all their lives.  

This book as with others in the series was an extremely well written, sweet, sexy and romantic book. A fantastic addition to the series and the narration by Holly Warren added to my listening pleasure. Although, having said that I do think that a male narrator for the men would really have enhanced the story, but then that is just my opinion.

You start reading this book with excitement, anticipation,and enthusiasm. While reading you meet Duke (the sweetest man alive) and McKenzie, a single mother trying to find her way. As always Gansett folks welcome her but Duke is her knight. While catching up with the island families, you feel happy, sad, and anticipation for their lives and circumstances. The journey of Mackenzie and Duke is so full of love and friendship. Then you reach The END and your emotions go from happiness for the happy couple and total devastation that the book is over.😢 Thanks Marie❤️. However, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. You know the next book in on the horizon to bring you more love, romance and drama with our favorite island family. You did it again, Marie. Thanks❤️

Gansett Island is cleaning up in the aftermath of Hurricane Ethel, its residents coming together to support one another as they always do. Ths time it includes McKenzie Martin, a newbie living with her infant son Jax in the cottage her grandmother left her. They barely escaped before the cottage collapsed, and were rescued by police chief Blaine Taylor, who sheltered them in his own home until her neighbor Duke Sullivan invited them to stay in his empty garage apartment until her home can be rebuilt. Despite their age and other differences between them, they develop a friendship, which then deepens into romance.

This is the first Gansett Island book I've read, and all I can say is: I didn't knwo what I was missing.

Each new book in this series is a delightful treat. Immediately the characters make you remember why you love the series and the island. I love how each book is centered on one couple, but that we get to see and catch up with so many townspeople. Lots of babies and life changes in this book. Duke is a wonder and McKenzie is sweetly charming. Their connection from her grandmother and his kindness and secret skills with craft and art made for an adorable couple. Big Mac and Mac were present of course, but so were the other couples, cousins and of course new characters who open up the potential for more stories and fun in the Gansett world. This is a wholesome and colorful series that I love falling back into with each new couple.

Auch in diesem Teil wurde ich auf eine gefühlvolle Reise nach Gansett Island mitgenommen . Es ist ein Roman über Freundschaft, Romantik und den Zusammenhalt einer tollen Gemeinschaft , der mir Herzklopfen und tolle Lesestunden bereitet hat. Als McKenzie bei einem Hurrikan ihr Zuhause verliert findet sie und ihr Baby Unterschlupf bei Duke. Duke ist ein super sympathischer und vor allem liebenswerter Charakter, denn wie er sich um Jax kümmert hat mein Herz erwärmt. Aber auch McKenzie , die eine sehr gefühlvolle und vor allem starke Frau ist lässt ihn nicht kalt. Ich habe schnell gemerkt, das diese beiden eine ganz besondere Chemie verbindet. Lass dich also nach Gansett Island entführen und erlebe neue und alte Bekannte und ganz viel Gefühl.

Its always good to be back on Gansett!!! I look forward to these visits and they just get better it feels like visiting family. I loved this story where we get Duke & Mackenzie's story which was perfect. These two who from the outside wouldn't be together have a connection that was so heartwarming. We also get to catch up some of the other islanders and some have some big decisions to make. I love that we got a glimpse into some of the islanders who have been in the books a while but are still waiting for there HEA. I don't want to give anything away but this was a perfect story and i can't wait for more as i just can't get enough.

Gansett Island is recovering from the hurricane. Duke, tattoo artist, is obsessed with the woman and her son, McKenzie and Jax, who moved into her grandmother's house, which was destroyed by the hurricane. MK and Jax stayed with Blaine and Angie but now are moving into Duke's garage apartment until her house can be rebuilt. This is a coming together of two folks who are 'new' in the Gansett series, but quickly become lovable. Their story is a sweet, fun coming together. The book also features updates on the regulars of the series and their families. Always a good read when Marie Force is the author!

Another emotional roller coaster!

Thank you for writing the outcomes of real life events as they can really happen. Though a roller coaster of emotions for the reader, you manage to turn a deplorable character sympathetic; bring a heartfelt sorrow for Ashleigh; frightened worries for Abby and Adam and the quads; and thankfulness for the slow recovery of Kelsey and Jeff. Along with a quick check in with all our beloved McCarthy's and Gansett family. Then developing new characters in Duke, MK, and Jax as well as Kendall and her boys. We all love you @marie force and can't wait for what's coming next.

Renewal After Dark by Marie Force

This is a continuation of the Ganset Island series. It is Duke and McKenzie’s story. We first met McKenzie in Hurricane After Dark. When Blaine saved her and her baby Jax. Duke stepped up and offered her a place to live as the hurricane flattened her cottage. Their love grows and they do get their HEA. Also in the book we see many of our favorite people from Gansett with what is happening to them now. Wonderful story can’t wait for the next one.
