Lots of fun short stories, from lots of very fresh and creative writing voices! My favorites included ‘Lynxed in Love’ and ‘Novus & the Paper Sky.’
Some stories could have used a tad more copy editing, but none were difficult to follow.
Pretty clean story collection as well, with somewhat varying levels of romance and some violence depending on the story but I’d say it all stays PG or maybe very mildly PG-13 at worst. There is like one or two mild swears (depending on what you count as swearing, maybe 0) throughout the whole collection.
P.S. I have a short story in here too (A Quest of Questionable Importance) :)
This clean fantasy anthology is gorgeous and includes nineteen short stories interspersed with full-page artwork and photographs. Usually in an anthology there are one or two stories where I think, "This is not for me," but I enjoyed every single one. My favorite was "The Crimson Trials." This short story had an epic feel, sometimes reminding me of "The Lady and the Tiger" or "The Scorpion King" but it was still its own tale with a satisfying ending. There are tales of adventure, time travel, sweet romance, and much more. I enjoyed the strong female roles, with the girl sometimes doing the rescuing, or at least fighting at the man's side. "Kiss and Tell" is a little racier than the rest while still fitting the theme and parameters of the anthology. The only downside of this book is that some stories are too short or end abruptly, and I wish they were longer. They are original, gripping, heartwarming, and humorous. Recommended for all fantasy fans.
This anthology made for some fantastic, snack-sized reading! The quality of story telling was beautiful, and I was swept from one adventure to the next. There are a few things I really like about anthologies. First, I have the opportunity to read new authors (and then follow them for more if I like the story!). Second, if I'm short on time I can read an entire story in minutes (honestly, isn't this a better use of time than death scrolling socials?). And third, it supports a good cause (all proceeds to charity).
Lasty... I have to say... I was thrilled to see my own story, White Wolf, in print. I wrote the first draft of this when I was eleven, and there was something special about redrafting it and submitting it for publishing. It feels like I’ve come full circle.
This book was filled with wonderful short stories. I loved the variety of fabulous creatures, fantastical places, and royal romances that this book contained.
Outstanding Stories (for me): Dungeons and Dragons by Rachel Lawrence The Griffin's Treasure by Andrea Renae The Doppelgänger Dare by Heather Griffin The Wigmaker by Emily Shortall Lynxed in Love by Katie Fitzgerald Jewels and Soils by Vanessa E. Howard Fire and Stone by Cathryn Free Kiss and Tell by Lacey R. Scott Novus and the Paper Sky by Elizabeth Anne Myrick
A delightful anthology packed full of action, banter, unique worlds, and sweet romance. If you're searching for a fun read, look no further than Tails, Scales, & Tiaras. Adventure awaits!
I had so much fun crafting Amaryllis’s story for “Queen’s Game” and hope you have just as much fun reading it. This little story has had so many answered prayers surrounding it and I’m so thankful I get to share it with you!
I am amazed by the creativity and skill of both the writers and artists. A wonderful collection of stories constructed around various genres and including either tails, scales, tiaras, or all three. The artwork is gorgeous as well and was a nice accompaniment. Cannot wait to see what's next for these authors and artists!
