Their Angels #1

The Guardian's Angel

Rate this book
James

I’ve only had guardianship of my three-month-old nephew, Grayson, for four days, and I’m already failing miserably. I don’t know how to help him since he refuses to eat and sleep until sheer exhaustion pulls him under for an hour or two at a time. I pace by the front door, waiting for my neighbor from across the street with children of her own to come over after she offered to help when she saw how panicked I was.

Except it’s not her who appears on my front porch at midnight—it’s her daughter, Shayla…the woman I’ve been obsessed with since I moved into the neighborhood a year ago. She smiles sleepily in her pajamas and fuzzy pink slippers, haloed by the porch lights like an angel—my angel.

Shayla

My mysterious, older neighbor—the one I can’t stop ogling—offers me an afternoon babysitting job on the spot after I get Grayson to settle. I agree so long as I can bring my daughter, Lainey. James has a momentary freakout when he finds out that I’m a senior in high school, though I’m not sure why, but the stricken look is wiped from his face when I tell him I’m eighteen.

The more time Lainey and I spend with James and Grayson, the harder it is to leave them at the end of each night, especially when James starts calling me his angel. The closer we get, the more we feel like a family—four pieces of a puzzle.

But I can’t let myself continue to get lost in James, no matter how right it feels to be with him, because what we’re doing is risky. We’re playing with fire, and if we’re not careful, our four-piece puzzle will soon become five.

The Guardian’s Angel is a standalone, full-length, spicy, age-gap, single-parent romance. All characters are 18+. Please read the Author’s Note at the beginning of the book. Happily ever after guaranteed.

There's something about this author's writing style and storytelling that's highly addictive, and I can't stop reading her books. So glad I stumbled into her. 😄

James' (28) sister died, and she left her four-month-old son, Grayson, to him. So now that he's his nephew's guardian, he doesn't know or have any clue what to do with him. Therein enters Shayla (18) his neighbor, and the teen mom of seven-month-old Lanie.

She offered to babysit Grayson, and James was more than happy to accept her help; after all, he's lusting (or in love) with her, and this babysitting would only make them closer as she has to stay at his house. But maaan, her babysitting didn't only stop with changing nappies, bathing, and putting Grayson to sleep. Even breastfeeding became part of her task, which soon extended to James as well. 🤭🫣

Ngl, this was hot, and while the lactating stuff isn't my jam, these two made it look fun. 😂 The story was basically smooth sailing, and the problems came from the irrelevant side characters. I'm glad these MCs stick with each other and didn't let the opinions of other people ruin what they had. I also love their blended family and how his friends and her family became supportive of them.

This was fun, sweet, sexy, cringey (at times), hot, but most of all adorable (because of the babies). I enjoyed the epilogue and how these two were still hot for each other even after all these years.

Book info
- Single mom x Single guardian
- Loss of loved one (off page)
- Age gap (10)
- Insta-love
- Lactation kink
- Breeding kink
- Bullying
- No cheating, opd, breakup
- Virgin MMC
- Blended family
- HEA (4 years later, with a total of 4 kids, and another otw)

Notes:
- No V FMC. She had sex one time (lost her V-card too), and got pregnant after the useless sperm donor pulled out the condom and intentionally came inside her.
- OWD. Not really, he has three friends whom he used to have game nights with once a month, one of them was a woman. When they came into James' house, she was acting like a real witch and taking digs at Shayla. This OW was touching James as well, but he thought she was only drunk; that's why she was close to him. Anyway, James kicked her out after she made snide remarks and made Shayla cry. She only appeared in the epilogue, as a changed person, pregnant and happily married.

Filthy but cute novella with lots of babiesy making!

🥛 age gap
🥛 breeding
🥛 lactation kink (she feeds everyone!)
🥛 virgin mmc

James is obsessed with Shayla next door. But he is trying really hard not to be a creep 👀 He needs a babysitter for his newborn nephew & she volunteers, brining her baby daughter along. James bonding with both babies was beyond adorable especially how he gave her daughter a special nickname 💕🎀

This was such a surprise!! Way smuttier than expected but also perfectly balanced with the virgin mmc! James was beyond obsessed and who would have thought he would be an absolute freak 🥛 when she comforted him by pulling out her boobies I SCREAMED AND RAN OUT OF THE ROOM *shocked bewildered*

Could be 50 pages shorter!

taboo age gap 18f/28m
virgin mmc
boy obsessed
protective mmc
fmc in high school *yikes*
he falls first
breeding kink
lactation
found family

Listen I love me a Virgin H.
But I hate a FMC who hurts him

I LOVE ME A VIRGIN VULNERABLE SIMP OF A H. BUT YOU BETTER GIVE ME A FMC WORTHY OF HIM and this little bitch is NOT!

🦄This man was my special Unicorn Hero that needs to be loved and cherished and protected. And that makes me even more mad at the h.

I just can’t with her being the one to pursue sex with him and continually running right after and treating him coldly. He waited 28 yrs to have sex and she bolts making him feel horrible. I’m so upset with her!
And this was like the 4/5 time she did this.
Then she breaks up w him and he cries!!! CRIES.

Fuck this bitch
Give be a better FMC.
I love a Virgin H but I need a woman who is worthy of him.

This is after she takes his V card…. He is 28!!!!

”Shayla’s expression quickly transformed from ecstasy to disappointment to horror, and I haven’t been able to get that last look out of my mind. What had nearly been the greatest moment of my life had turned sour when she shoved me off her and threw herself out of my bed and into the shower without a word. She avoided my eyes and my touch as she gathered her things and took off with Lainey.l”

She is the one who pushed each time for sex! Ugh I hate this girl and can’t move forward

Is it to much to ask for balance in books.
Give me a amazing H and a woman who deserves him and vise versa

THERE ARE LOTS OF WAYS TO AVOID GETTING PREGNANT!!! It’s 2024! MEAN THIS BITCH IS A DUMB ASS! Spend 5 min on the internet and all your problems will be solved.

I hate convoluted drama. Make it believable and don’t make me hate your main character with your stupid dramas.

SHE MADE MY PRECIOUS BOY CRY! 🤬. Hate her

Okay so I actually really liked this book. James is literally one of the best MMCs ever!! He’s everything.

He’s been obsessing over Shayla since the minute he sees her but he doesn’t realize she’s only 18 until she comes over to help him with his 3 month old nephew that is now in his custody. Shayla herself has a baby at home. She’s a single teenage mom who had sex one time and got knocked up at 16-17.

After meeting her James becomes even more obsessed. Shayla begins going over every day to help him with his nephew. And he’s completely taken with both Shayla and her daughter Lainey. It’s basically love at first sight for him. I just loved how badly he wanted her. How much he cared for her. James is also a 28 year old virgin and decides he wants to give Shayla all his firsts. He’s never done anything aside from kiss before. Shayla has had intercourse once so she’s not experienced either. I loved so much that he was a virgin!!! I also liked that he was nerdy. He wasn’t this suave, charming guy with massive arms and shoulders like in 98% of the books I read. He had abs but Shayla mentioned he was more on the skinny side. He also liked to game online with his other nerdy friends!!

I really liked Shayla..at first. She was so sweet and so helpful and the fact that she returned James’ feelings made me like her more. But then she started pissing me off. She would run away after every time they did something sexual together. Even though SHE WAS THE ONE THAT INITIATED IT!! Every single time, she was the one that came onto him and then after they were done she would run away like her ass was on fire. I hated that so much. And then when she broke up with him and this man CRIED?! He literally cried, shed so many tears and it made me even more angry with her. I was like girl you have this amazing man who loves your daughter like his own and you’re going to play with his heart like that? This was in the middle of the book so it’s not a third act break up, he takes her back after several weeks of being broken up but I wanted her to work for it more. She has no idea how much of a unicorn this man was. I also thought it was weird that she started breastfeeding a baby she literally just met. Like hello maybe a conversation first would have been better? But that’s just me.

Anyway after they get back together I start to like her again. She did annoy me with the whole “I don’t want to get pregnant” thing but then would tell him to just do a couple strokes and then put the condom on. You know like when a guy says “I’ll just put the tip in” yeah well she was that guy in this situation. Always like just a few more strokes and then would whine about not wanting to get pregnant.

There was a little OW drama. James has a friend group that consists of two other guys and one girl. They do game nights and it was his time to host so they all came over and Shayla was there to meet them and the girl friend, Mara, was a compete bitch to her! So awful. James doesn’t realize at first, I wanted to slap him for as long as it took him to realize what was happening but once he did he kicked her out of his house and out of his life. He thought back on other occasions with her and realized that she’s always been a bit of a mean girl. Which is why I don’t get why the author brought the OW back at the end of the book to apologize to Shayla and then they all end up being friends again. Like please keep the OW where they belong, far away from my MMC and FMC. I would have been more mad had James hooked up with her but he’s never had anything with her and she is married but still.

I loved Martin and Isaiah, James’ friends, I really want to read their books but idk if they have them.

Anyway overall it was a good read. I would read this author again for sure.

NO CHEATING
SOME OW DRAMA (see above)
MILD OM DRAMA (they run into Shayla’s baby daddy but he doesn’t want her back he’s just an ass)
NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP (but middle of the book breakup , they still see each other every day they are broken up)
LACTATION KINK
BREEDING KINK
HEA (years later married with more kids)

FLOVED it!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: age gap, taboo
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely loved the relationship dynamics in this one! Older, nerdy v-card holding hero with a much younger single mom ❤. If you're all about the alpha hero, this one may not be for you, but bot being super alpha doesn't keep him from being obsessive, possessive, and completely transfixed. Lots of lactation schmink for those who find it 🔥🔥🔥. I've really enjoyed everything I've read by this author and can't wait to see where she goes next!

I was absolutely not the audience for this. Every character was making poor choices, the parents were shockingly negligent in facilitating their recently-minor child's path through her new parenthood life and schooling, and I fear I just discovered an author who I've read and enjoyed in the past is actually very conservative in a "woman's place/trad-wife" way and I'm bummed.

I wonder if Alder tried to pull some punches on age-gap (this was her first book I think?) by making the MMC so immature he matched the energy of the 18yo FMC. He's a virgin who cries to keep her from leaving, fetishizes her role as babysitter and is taking advantage of the employer/employee dynamic. Every character who knows him wonders how this skinny gamer guy with three friends has a girlfriend, maybe see that red flag wave? I absolutely get breeding kink as a trope, but it was making me itchy to see a teen-age single mom articulate on page that to get pregnant again would derail her educational ambitions, and then simply refuse to use birth control (and to explicitly have the only possibly option if pregnant be have baby).

Maybe I'm ok with big age-gap if all parties are at least in early 20s? I like Alder in the past because she writes blue collar/middle class in a genre where its hard to swing a cat without hitting a billionaire but woof.

James is the nerdy neighbor who just became the guardian of his baby nephew and Shayla is the teen mom next door who becomes James' babysitter.

I adored this read. This is my first dual single parent and both inexperienced or no experience and I have come to the realization that I absolutely love both tropes!
James had me blushing and kicking my feet throughout this entire book! He was so innocent and inexperienced but he learned fast and aimed to please. The way he would defend her to anyone who dared to hurt her had my heart aching it was too sweet. He had her back no matter what.

Absolutely loved this. James was so sweet and shy and his love/want of Shayla was so beautiful.

And apparently, I love dual-Single parent romances because this had me kicking my feet in giddy delight.

“The Guardian’s Angel” is the story of Shayla and James.

A very wet but sweet book. Two single “parents”, ten year age gap, loads of lactation and breeding kink, love, some family drama and a detailed HEA.

It was low on angst but pretty well written and had copious amount of sex.

This was the perfect romance on paper... the MCs, the babies😭, the loving moments between them all, the spice, the kinks 😈(if lactating and breeding aren't your cup of tea, better look the other way). The writing above all was pleasant and so enjoyable, which is a must to me since I can't and won't ever get into bad written books, romance or not.
Since 2024 started, I've been in a huge book slump and coming across good written romance is becoming a rarity, all this to say: I really, REALLY appreciate this author. She's new to me and I'll be reading the rest of her books and following her from now on. Why the 4 stars then? I guess it's just a personal preference of mine when Heroes are a little more brooding, menacing and the forcing, toxic type. I just need that level of unhinged factor which is my kryptonite that really makes a Hero to die for in my eyes 💁🏻The Jessa Kane kind of toxic (oh, how much I miss her...)

This was such a cute book 😭.

MA just always delivers for me—the way in which her books are written never disappoints. The amount of comfort care scenes? the lack of conflict/third-act breakups? the immense support the characters have for each other? I'm obsessed.

It took me a while to finally commit to reading this one because I didn't think I would like it because of the tropes, but I'm so glad that I finally did. This wasn't my favourite book by MA but I still enjoyed it.

Also, can I say that I LOVED James sm. The way that he was nerdy and caring and liked RPG games? Bye, he's literally my dream man.

It was also really fun to see all the other characters from the second book make their debut, which I ended up reading first. Although I did prefer Isaiah and Bailey's book a lot more, I still really enjoyed this. I do have to say though that I will be mentally erasing any Isaiah scenes that I read in this book from my mind because I really didn't like how he was portrayed (the fact that he had a thing for Bailey's sister? Absolutely not).

I feel like I would've liked this book a lot more had I not read the second book first, but, this was still so sweet.

James, our H, has been obsessed with one of his neighbors for the past year but has only really seen her from afar. But, when he needs help caring for his nephew & Shayla, our h, needs a job that she can bring her daughter too…worlds collide 🩷

This was honestly really sweet & wholesome while also being spicy 😈💦

H (29) - Recently became the guardian of his infant nephew (sister passed suddnely) & is struggling.

h (18) - single mom, graduating hs soon, & looking for work

Tropes & Such:
- nanny x boss
- age gap
- inexperienced H & h
- single/teen mom
- parental drama
- mentions of grief (sibling, parent)
- No omd, no cheating
- 1 scene of 1 sided owd*
- Hea

*There was 1 scene where one of the H’s friends (who he’s only ever had a platonic relationship with) is a lil touchy. H just thought she was tipsy & losing balance. When he realized she was flirty & mean to h he shut this down. She only appeared in this one scene (and epilogue - but in a good way)

NOTES

“I brush the back of my fingers along my Angelainey’s cheek—because that’s what I call her, my mini angel Lainey—and can’t for the life of me figure out how someone could give her up.”

- he called the h his angel & the h’s daughter is named Lainey so he called her his Angelainey 🥹🥹🥹🥹, I melted

LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

🌟 5/5

ℙ𝕆𝕍: first person, single perspective

𝕄𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤:
When you're a part of a book FB group specifically for the breeding kink, and this one just kept getting tossed out for a recommendation, you know your girl is ON TOP OF IT! 😏

Shayla and James are now living rent-free in my brain. The chemistry between these two was EXPLOSIVE yet sweet. Their friendship was beautiful, and the way they cared for their babies made my ovaries start screaming.🥺😍

I can't get over how nontoxic the characters were. I feel like there's always a bit of kink shaming when it comes to this specific kink/trope. The author put all of that to bed with these precious characters. 😘

Do I absolutely want to do another reread after finishing the book in 13 hours? Ummmm, yeah. Everything about the book was good. Internally and externally, I'm screaming for the next book! That age gap will be GOLD!😍🤣

I did not expect to love this but I did!!

May Alder was a new author for me! as of now she only has 5(?) stories but so far this is my best read out of her current books.

I really love how the heroine loves her daughter and the Hero's nephew. Both children are treated by the leads like their own and it was so heart-warming to read.

The heroine has a big heart and she walks wearing her heart on her sleeves. I love how brave she is for being a single mom all the while being a student at the same time by facing the discrimation thrown at her everywhere. She is so strong! Also the Hero was a big cinnamon roll! he is a bit nerdy and he has so much love to give.

It is rare for me to read about leads being equal in terms of how good their character build-up were. The author did a great job!, the smut was nice too! she can write, really!

Virgin Hero ( been on a few dates before and seems like his experience was only kissing before the heroine. He even said, how he wished that the heroine was his first kiss.

Age-Gap (28 H & 18 h)

Single Mom h (it is a one time thing, and she got pregnant. The baby daddy was absent and an ass because afterwards he knocked up another woman again!! and the baby daddy said that the condom accidentally got broken or sumn

Single Father H(?) unsure if I would label it like that but basically the older sister of the H died and the custody of his nephew was named after him so basically, he became a dad overnight.

unwanted owd
little bit of omd
accidental exhibitionism (the H and his besties were playing an online game with all the webcams and headphones on. H overlooked and had forgotten to turn it off. Kinda made me uncomfortable so I skipped the chapter hehe.)

HEA, married with kids and epilogue 4 years after

Read if you like: 10 year age gap, single parent, found family, breeding kink, lactation kink, accidental voyerism/exhibitionism

If you like Alexa Riley’s instalust/breeding kink books then you’ll love this one because it’s more fleshed out than their stories!
This is spicy, forbidden and hot. I liked this single parent story, I was hooked and read it quite fast.

Shayla was hot and cold with James I felt bad for him. But I also know their 10 year age gap was problematic (especially with her being in high school) so I get it but girl come on 😭
James was an actual ick at games night, not noticing Mara’s actions and insults at all and not realising Shayla was getting hurt. Like bro wtf stand up for your girl!! He just stood there and did nothing and his apology was so meh afterwards

Her parents were realistic to be cautious of this relationship and I liked that they weren’t immediately on board. You have to have some people with a brain in this book because the MC’s were super reckless. Also the name gentry is terrible 😭😭 the ending was OTT and super unrealistic but anyways

Don’t look too deep into this story - yes the age gap is problematic when she’s so young, yes she’s throwing away her future, yes having a billion kids is whack, yes the mean girl comes back and all is forgiven 😂 if you’re looking for a breeding kink story this one is it but if you’re looking for plot I suggest looking elsewhere
