Twenty-two years before the fall of Dakiti, a great conflict rages on the edge of populated space. Known throughout local systems as the Fringe War, the fight pits the superhuman natives of Haphez against the sly, semi-amphibious Sardons and their allies. The Sardons' goal? Gain control of a powerful Haphezian healing agent called caura...by force, if necessary.

As Sardon tactics grow bolder and more desperate, cooperation between Haphezian military forces and domestic law enforcement becomes crucial. When two scientists affiliated with the Haphezian Special Police are captured by enemy forces, the agency knows it must take initiative. The scientists are heavily involved in the development of caura treatment, and the knowledge they possess must not be allowed to fall into Sardon hands.

Determined to get its people back safely, HSP sends a lone agent to join a special marine task force on a harrowing mission to retrieve the scientists and neutralize the Sardon threat.

That agent's name is Emeri Arion.

Prime is a prequel to Dakiti: Ziva Payvan Book 1 and can be enjoyed independently.

EJ Fisch is a long-time action junkie and fan of the science fiction genre. She’ll readily admit that she has a vivid imagination, which can be both a blessing and a curse. She has been writing as a hobby since junior high and began publishing in the spring of 2014. They say write what you like to read, so her Ziva Payvan series combines her two favorite genres—space opera and spy thriller—and has been lauded for its grit, compelling character development, and many twists and turns.

When she’s not busy writing or working her day job as a data analyst in the medical field, she enjoys listening to music, working on concept art, reading, gaming, and spending time with her animals. She currently resides in southern Oregon.

Action packed adventure story-a quick and fun read. I would have liked a bit more on the character development side of things but this was engaging and enjoyable.
We follow a squadron on a mission and the action is top notch. I was intrigued throughout and on the edge of my seat. When I got to the end, the only real issue I had was that I felt we learned very little about the characters. That’s a personal preference of mine. This was an engaging read, but I like more character development and to really get to know the characters.

Recommended for fans of sci-fi action!

Emeri Arion was a surprise favorite character for me in the Ziva Payvan series, so I was very excited to read this story from his past. It perfectly encapsulates so much of what I love about EJ Fisch's writing, with some solid character development and lots of high-stakes action that will have you on the edge of your seat. It's a great way to test out the writing style and storytelling if you're a new reader, and fans of the Ziva Payvan series will especially enjoy some of the little hints and Easter eggs dropped here.

Had the pleasure of beta reading this prequel novella. Any fans of the main series will find this a treat to read! Lots of great action, and even though it's a short novella, it has a fully fleshed out story that stands on its own.

Fisch delivers a truly solid SAS-style Sci Fi mission in this novella. There was great balance between action and worldbuilding as the simple hostage rescue mission soon proves to be anything but simple ...

An insightful peek at a young(er) Emeri

In the Ziva Payvan novels, Emeri is the often exasperated, long-suffering, occasionally fatherly supervisor of Ziva, Aroska and the team. But he had a life and a career before they came along, and this is a fun and insightful glimpse at that life - and a mission that changed everything for him.

Short, action-packed and enough to get me interested in the rest of the story.
