Our curiosity tore reality apart.
Our tenacity pulled it back together again.
Science-gone-wrong has reshaped everyday life in the Overlap. Everybody has a twin, a doppelganger. Identical in every way, down to the smallest atom.

Detectives Ven and Doug Viridem have made no progress in tracking down the Devourer - Greater York City's elusive new serial killer. That is, until Ven discovers a witness who unexpectedly turns his life upside down in ways he could never have imagined.

What starts as a hunt for a murderer snowballs into the greatest - and most dangerous - case of Ven and Doug's careers. Cannibals, otherworldly beasts, and rifts in reality are the least of their concerns. As secrets are uncovered, the mysteries of the Overlap begin to unfold all around them.

The brothers must find the killer before it's too late. The fate of the world - all of the worlds - may be at stake.

In his debut novel, A.T. Benson invites readers to the uncanny, reality-bending world of the Overlap. Fans of sci-fi storytelling across mediums will find something to love here - from the parallel worlds of Dark Matter and The Other Emily; to the intricacies of a world changed by discovery as in The Paradox Hotel; to the character dynamics of The Last of Us; to the multiversal mayhem of Loki. Set your devices, cover your ears, and watch your step as you make your way into the Overlap!* *Don't feed the landwhales

Overlap started off slow with what I assumed was a typical murder mystery and quickly picked up with the introduction of a multiverse, doppelgängers and horrifying monsters.

I was very intrigued by “the incident” and wish we got more chapters on it! I definitely felt the most interesting chapters took place in the Ruinlands and would have liked more chapters on Ven’s time there with the Warriors of Cline.

Overall, it was a fun and unique read from start to finish with plenty of action, mystery and a wide range of characters! I will certainly be reading the additional installments to the series.

I have to admit I felt a little intimidated when I started the book with all the characters, twins, non-twins, doppelgängers, who’s related to who, monsters and schizophrenic’s.

The story began to come together for an exciting ride through strange realms and realities.

The concept of the “Overlap” was very creative. The analogy using the three disc’s to describe the overlap was brilliant.

I soon became very attached to the main characters and felt their pain in their brutal journey to secure peace and tranquility in Greater York.

Not your typical read. Very intricate and complex storyline. In hindsight it had to be in order to fully immerse in the reality bending experience.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys alternate reality and dystopian genres!

Looking forward to reading Tangents.

An easy, exciting read that keeps your attention. I love how Benson makes you feel like you really know the characters through the twists. This is not the typical book I read, but I loved that I had to keep turning the page to find answers to the unique plot. It’s a sci-fi murder mystery you must read! What’s not to love about a book with doppelgängers?

As a non-reader, it is rare that I see a book all the way through. After the first few chapters, this book grabbed me and didn’t let go. Benson’s writing feels personal- there is something familiar and comfortable about the characters (even the ones from different worlds) that captivates. It’s hard to nail down the specific genre of the book because it has something for everyone, so if you are a lover of sci-fi, thriller, or mystery, give this one a try.
