Raphaela Tucci, Ralph to those who know and love her, beloved former first-grade teacher, newly minted bookstore owner, and ever the optimist is dead…
Dead.
Not only is she dead, she’s a ghost. Like, bonafide see-through, floating, boo screeching ghost.
It’s hard to be optimistic when your life tragically ends the moment you begin to live your dream. But Ralph tries anyway, even as she finds herself stuck in Nina’s big castle—on Long Island, no less.
Ralph doesn’t know how she ended up where she landed, but after a week of floating silently unseen through room after room, watching these kooky but loveable women live their lives, she doesn’t understand why her destiny isn’t even close to what she’s read in books and seen in movies.
Maybe there really isn’t an upstairs after all?
Enter Shamus Ransom, the biggest (hottest) silver-fox elf (whaaat?) she’s ever seen with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. He’s been hired by Nina to eliminate the funny smell the vampire's positive is a ghost haunting her castle.
What he finds is a beautiful, completely stuck ghost with a heart of gold and an optimistic outlook he’s never seen in an entity.
Shamus’s job already isn’t an easy one, but as he tries to find out why Ralph is stuck and categorize what type of ghost she is, he also finds himself falling in deep like with her. Getting involved is absolutely out of the question. Theirs would be far more than a long distance romance. To even consider it was ludicrous, right?
But as Shamus and the women of OOPS try and figure out what happened to Ralph on the night she was killed and why she’s cemented on this plane, there are dangerous entities gunning for Ralph and they won’t stop until she’s locked away in Hell—forever...
Dakota Cassidy is a national bestselling author with over thirty books. She writes laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, grab-some-ice erotic romance, hot and sexy alpha males, paranormal shifters, contemporary kick-ass women, and more.
Invited by Bravo TV, Dakota was the Bravoholic for a week, wherein she snarked the hell out of all the Bravo shows. She received a starred review from Publisher Weekly for Talk Dirty to Me, won an RT Reviewers Choice Award for Kiss and Hell, along with many review site recommended reads and reviewer top pick awards.
Dakota lives in the gorgeous state of Oregon with her real life hero and her dogs, and she loves hearing from readers!
The story kicks off with a reserved bookshop owner finding herself in the afterlife, haunting a home that is both familiar and unfamiliar to her. I am truly captivated by the found family dynamic in Accidentals.
Nina never fails to make us laugh. All the women of OOPS are awesome. Raphaela and Shamus are standout characters in this paranormal plot.
Raphaela is portrayed as someone who faces challenges with optimism and humor, while Shamus, the sexy ghost hunter elf, adds a layer of romance and intrigue to the story. Raphaela must navigate intense emotions and challenging situations, making the story relatable and engaging for readers. The humor in the book, whether through Raphaela's internal monologues or Nina's unfiltered mouth, keeps the readers entertained throughout.
The mystery element, with elements of murder, special powers, and a threat from Hell, adds depth to the plot and keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Nina's character, with her vampire attitude and soft spot for animals, adds a unique and entertaining dimension to the story.
Overall, The Accidental Ghost is a delightful and engaging paranormal romance with a mix of mystery and romance. Ms. Cassidy's writing style is entertaining and charming, making this book a must-read for fans of paranormal romance, found family dynamics, mystery, and romance.
Note- While each book in the series can be read as a standalone, starting from the beginning gives you a better understanding of the characters and their relationships.
I absolutely love 🥰 Dakota Cassidy’s entertaining, funny & incredibly charming paranormal romance! Recommendations all around for this book!

The whole gang from OOPS is back in a new adventure! Someone has taken up residence in Nina’s castle. It is a ghost named Raphaela Tucci, or Ralph. She had been a schoolteacher, retired getting ready to open a bookstore. Someone changed that for her! When Nina suspects a ghost, she calls in an expert, Shamus, half elf and human. He discovers Ralph, throws fairy dust on her, and everyone can see and hear her. Only Shamus can actually touch her though.
They are setting out to discover who killed her and why. As always, there is a huge problem! Someone wants to drag her to Hell! She will discover so many things about the supernatural world, what kind of ghost she is, things about her murder, most of all, she wants to be with Shamus.
The ladies, Darnell, Shamus and a few others will combine efforts and knowledge to find out what happened to her and why she has not moved on. The tale will be a heartbreaking one! Nina, of course, and as always, will make you laugh with her antics and mouth. What will they discover? Will Shamus and Ralph ever have a chance at romance? Will she move on or stay somehow? Lots of laughter and heartache to come!
Reading this series is like sliding into your favorite snug jeans. Or snuggling on the couch with a blanket and a bottle of wine.
These characters are like friends you haven't caught up with in a while. Every time I read the series, it just reminds me why I love their banter.
I love how they help others and are always willing to drop everything. If I could change one thing, it would be for us to get an insight into Nina, Marty, and Wanda's life with each book. Like how are the kids doing in school, how old are they? How much time is passing, like achievements, etc. Their kids are only mentioned in passing.
It took longer than usual to finish reading The Accidental Ghost. I had to keep stopping because I was crying too hard to see. This story brings out all the emotions!
The characters are amazing. I loved Raphaela Tucci and Shamus Ransom. We get to see and hear about some different paranormal beings and their powers. The OOPs ladies are all in attendance on this mystery and much of the story takes place in Nina’s castle.
Loved the plot, action, plot twists, suspense, and the ending. The Accidental Ghost is a fun story and a fantastic addition to the series.
I really liked this! I love the Witchslapped series, and the Marshmallow Hollow series, and this sounded like fun. So I thought I'd give it a chance. I understand that other books from this series are a bit graphic, which is why I haven't tried any of them, but I figured that if I ran into any of those scenes, I'd just skip forward. There is quite a bit of swearing... well A LOT of swearing, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars overall. But other than that, it was a fun, sweet story with nary an uncomfortably graphic scene. I plan to try others in series!
I really liked this one a lot. A ghost no one can see until the elf ghost hunter shows up to make her visible. Turns out quite a few accidents may have happened to get her to end up at Nina's Castle....but how did she get there? Why don't other ghosts know about her? What kind of ghost is she? Another fun adventure in the accidental world, and I enjoy having a reunion of older characters to come visit and give the girls some help.
I can’t believe we are on book fifteen. I remember picking up The Accidemtal Vampire and being instantly hooked. "The Accidental Ghost" Dakota Cassidy has more humor and the supernatural. The main grapples with life after an unexpected death. Cassidy's witty writing and endearing characters, keep me reading. If you enjoy lighthearted paranormal fiction with a touch of romance, this book might be your ultimate escape. Read it, you’ll love it!
Fantastic! The author manages to keep it fresh even though there is definitely a formula to this series. Even the characters comment on it. I had no idea how the author was going to have the Oops squad interact with a ghost but she did it creatively and with a bit of cussin on Nina’s part. A fun and unique romp.
Loved This. Okay I'll admit the love story part isn't that strong. It's more soft attraction with kissing and very few emotional moments where they could have actually fallen in love. If they're developing emotions it's happening off page. That said the characters are well developed and the story was a lovely mix of humor and adventure that I adored.
Even if you haven't read the other books in the series, you can jump right in with this one and really enjoy it...fun, love, friendship, mystery....just a really great feel good story...love the characters..,e joy.
Wow!!! I absolutely loved this book. This series is incredible and every book is full of laughs, love, mystery, and sass and this one is no different. I truly enjoyed the ghost storyline and the mystery kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is an absolute must read.
Comparison to Golden Girls, epic beginning for me oh my goodness Sophie embodiement. Even after finally figuring out what was really going on and everything was happenstance, she still had a compassionate heart and managed to put that one foot in front of the other and have a better disposition than most. Let's not talk about that brewing love life. Although I am curious how the remainder of the books in this series plays out.
An enjoyable urban fantasy/paranormal romance featuring a ghost and an elf blessed with the ability to see ghosts, complete with sound lessons about parenting and coming to terms with one's childhood.
