A wonderful book on Ashoka, his edicts/pillars, Buddhist legends surrounding him, chronology of his deeds and anecdotes. The author does a remarkable job of painfully analyzing the language of inscriptions and other commentaries on the same.

It deserves a longer review but will keep it aside for the time being.
