Trapped in the body of the murderous Zara the Fury, our hero might not know her real name, but she knows how to play a game.
Or so she thought. The world of Knights of Eternity is no simple dungeon-crawler with damsels in distress. The tyrannical god Calamity treats the world as his chess board, a knight is faced with the chance to change his fate, and cryptic quests promise our hero overwhelming power.
But the real Zara the Fury wants her body back. And she’ll do whatever it takes to get it.
Welcome to the world of Knights of Eternity—a LitRPG adventure where power has a price.
Can't believe I have to wait until November to see more of my favorite lil guys :( usually I prefer standalones but I'm already kinda sad there's only going to be one more book.
Have been impatiently waiting for Desecrate to release since finishing Calamity and I was very happy with the reward for my patience! The main character is a good guy stuck in the body of a arcade game bad guy. I was gobsmacked by the ending of the first book and instantly pulled back in to a gripping and detailed world. The characters are complex and their personal growth is not always progressive. One of the best plot points for me was one of the nicest, most genuine characters becoming someone who has to leave the people they cared for behind and forge a new path they did not choose and does not align with their morals. Another character who travels with our lead, Zara, is fantastic. His emotions and motivations for helping Zara are so well written and believable. I think I love that most about Rachel Ni Chuirc's characters, is that even when they make dreadful choices, you fully understand why. It's not a genre I usually choose but the wonderfully detailed world, the compelling characters and the CLIFFHANGERS are such a treat. I'm very excited for the third installment!
When your the villian but also the hero it's not easy and having the role reversal in this books where the dividing line between hero and villan may be the opposite creates an intricate backdrop to the return of a great evil. You really get caught up in the Zara storyline as she redeems herself by her parasite, teaching her there is another way. I enjoyed how the story developed, and we finally get a lot more clarity into how things in the past developed and how it affects the main story. Can't wait to see how book 3 turns out as wow for the ending.
Coming in hot off book 1, I had high hopes for Desecrate. This book took those hopes, laughed in my face, and told me to aim higher next time. Phenomenal storytelling, deeply complex characters, and way more twists than I expected. Things I was sure would be saved til Book 3 came to light here, which just makes me that much more excited for the next one. If you're still on the fence, this is your sign. Buy the book. It isn't often you get the chance to experience the next big thing before it actually becomes big.
This series takes a standard of the genre and upends it on its head.
While I typed a whole bit about the story, I realized that it gave a lot away, so I deleted and will say this: If you are into a story that deals with real issues, is written organically and where decisions have consequences, this book is for you.
Curious path this story is taking. The main character has fallen into a video game, and she’s now the pawn of a powerful entity that is trying to escape. Or get home or … something. And she’s one of a very few that know this - others fight different battles.
Loved it! Pacing is much better in this book and we get a few answers to my millions of questions! Really enjoyed the parallels and differences of the two minds of Zara! Ps.Where can I find my own Lukas? 😉
While I have some complaints about the prose, overall this book has hooked me to keep reading. If book one set up the world, rules, and goal, this is about the mystery, and it is a good one. I will be back for book 3.
Great second book in the series. Rachel does great at continuing to build the story. If you like OP main character then maybe this isn't for you. But if you like great world building, twisting plot, and character development then this hits the spot.
I love this series so much. Amazing twists that just want you to keep reading, fabulous complex characters that continue to grow throughout the book. Really excited to read the next one but also sad it’s going to be over soon 🗡️
