Reid is hot & cold with a Texan dirty mouth all wrapped into one. He can’t decide whether to be nice to Charlotte or push her away because ’he is only the help’. Their relationship is marked by stolen touches & possessiveness all through the theme of opposites attract 🌶️
For all the girls looking for their protective bodyguard/special-ops/ex-Marine to strangle anyone that touches them!!
I write this with….reluctance. The book & I were a mismatch and that’s okay. I just found out bodyguard romance is not really my thing. I usually find the bodyguard stereotype hits the glass ceiling too fast for me.
In this one I could NOT really connect to the mmc and I think Papa Manearring said it best with “uncouth, gun-toting gorilla” Why was he so mean & immature in the beginning!! I felt like I didn’t know him well enough to justify the bad behavior 🚩 He was much much better in the second part of the book. Once he was all besotted he started acting…acceptably unhinged 🚩🚩

Reluctantly His is the fourth book in the Gilded Decadence series and features Reid and Charlotte. A bodyguard romance with Zoe and Alta’s signature erotic steam.
Charlotte has spent her whole life doing for others as well as doing as she’s told according to her father’s rules and expectations. He is a cold man and since his other children paved their own path, Charlotte was expected to do her duty to the family.
However, her new bodyguard sets all her plans on fire when their chemistry is something that can’t be ignored. Reid may be hesitant but Charlotte is everything he’s ever wanted. Will these two be able to be together despite everything stacked against them?
I loved Reid. He’s dominant and possessive and soft at the right moments for his girl. He’s a dirty talking marine and I kept imagining him as the Witcher and saying “mine” and well it was hot.
Charlotte may have been timid and more of a “Mary Bennet” than an “Elizabeth Bennet” but she came into herself in such a beautiful way. I loved her tenacious personality and the way she loved Reid.
This was action packed and had all the spice I love from these two authors. While the second and third books in this series weren’t my favorite this one came around with a bang and I wish I could go back and experience it all over again.
I will say…I’m interested in Lucian’s story (the father) because right now I think he’s not only an asshole but there’s the deceased lover trope and I usually despise that trope. We’ll see…
Overall, I really enjoyed this and hope these two keep writing together!

Reid hates the thought of being a babysitter to rich people and thinks Char is a rich spoiled girl which he learns isn't true he's drawn to her and the chemistry is very Push/pull between them. Since he's a gaurd and she's a rich girl. I wish he stayed more alpha when Char would push away he let her, and he let her go many times, not wanting to fight for her. Then, he changed his mind , and with Charlotte, she would give in and say my duty to the family.
When Reid made so many good points. Like girl was going to go back to her abuser finance... I'm glad they finally got their heads out there butts..
The spice was low but still yummy 🥰
When is that Mary woman going to die? Like, really, she needs to be gone.
The last book, and idk how I'll feel. It's the father, lucian. we saw glimps, and I'll be honest. I hate him. idk how he'll be redeemed. He hates his daughter Charlotte because they saved her and not his wife during child birth. So I don't have high hopes.

It has a slightly different vibe from the others while still incorporating all the favorite things we've come to expect from this series like age gap, taboo, and dominant MMCs, but in this one we also have the additional yummies of:
✅ bodyguard
✅ pierced parts
✅ ex-military MMC
This book jumped right in with the high tension and chemistry between the two of them and just never let up. I loved how supportive he was of her dreams and how he was all in right from the beginning, even when she wavered a bit. The story was fast paced and had tons of action. Once I picked it up, I didn't put it down until I was finished. I love the teaser for the next book and can't wait to see where this dynamic duo takes us!

FMC is the last of her siblings left unmarried, and therefore, the last pawn her father can maneuver for a strategically beneficial arranged marriage. Seeing no other choice for herself and unwilling as of now to fight for her own future, the FMC accepts her fate. But with a vague outstanding threat requiring enhanced security, the FMC’s new personal bodyguard is going to teach her a lesson on fighting for what you want… amongst other lessons😉
Started out STRONG with some hot spice (overall spice features discipline spanking and dom/sub overtones) and you can’t go wrong with a bodyguard trope for me. The back middle got a little lost in the sauce, I think its momentum tripped it up a bit, but ended strong and on a surprisingly sweet note.
VERY interested in the next book of the series. It’s gonna be age gap with a real villain-type MMC… the father of this FMC!

This is a well written book with strong characters in Charlotte and Reid. The authors take you into their lives with a forbidden love/bodyguard storyline and a steamy chemistry and kept me reading with the mystery and danger. They move the story fluidly and deliver a terrific read.

The series continues and just keeps getting better, more steamy, and absolutely more addictive!! Reid and Charlotte are perfect. The atmosphere in which this book unfolds is amazing and detailed, and the suspense of the events unfolding will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this series and I can not wait for more.

This is a bodyguard romance. Reid’s idea to seduce his in order for her to get him out of being her guard backfired when the chemistry and fireworks between them burn bright. Reid is an intense character who is possessive and ott. Zoe Blake excels at writing these characters and I love all of her men. This entire series has been really good and bit different from her usual reads.

I have been a fan of both these authors individually so I jumped at the opportunity when I saw that they co-wrote a series. Now I did start at book 4 but I will most certainly will be going back to read books 1-3👀
This book definitely has two of my favourite tropes which is bodyguard and age gap and let me tell you these authors did the tropes justice 😮💨
This book follows Charlotte and Reid. Reid is assigned as Charlottes bodyguard and the sparks are absolutely flying from the get go. I adored Charlotte, but my heart broke for her at times as she always thought that her role in life was to play the “dutiful daughter” to earn her father’s love.
Reid is another book boyfriend to add to the list, he encouraged Charlotte to go after her dreams. Yes Reid is protective of her but he would never clip her wings not keep her in a guilded cage🫶🏼
I am keeping this review spoiler free but I honestly couldn’t put this book down I was absolutely OBSESSED. It’s a short read but jam packed with action and spice💗

This was a wonderful addition to the Gilded Decadence series. The heroine of the story, Luc's sister Charlotte, is truly imprisoned by her duty to her family and desire to earn her father's love. From the very first page her bodyguard Reid's interactions with Charlotte are inappropriate and forbidden, however his plan to scare her away backfires as he finds himself unwilling to let her go. Charlotte's sense of duty leads to much angst and frustration throughout the story, but through it all a very powerful bond forms between the two. While the evil, Mary-Astrid, plays a small role in this story, there are plenty of other unlikeable characters to fill the villainous role. The authors bring us plenty of steam, unexpected sweetness, and a lot of page turning excitement. I found the POV of the epilogue most unexpected and am now intrigued for the next in the series.

“Relunctlantly His” is Book 4 of the Gilded Decadence Series, and I had a hard time putting this down. I was glued to every word and every page. It’s a bodyguard, age gap, mafia romance, and relatively fast-paced. There’s action, and, of course, with the duo of writers behind the story—Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley—the spice is through the roof.
Charlotte’s father is forcing her into an arranged marriage, and Reid is the bodyguard who, though paid to protect her, wants to do all sorts of things to her in and out of the bedroom. Much like the previous books, the MMCs are dominant, but Reid, who was in the military, takes things up several notches, especially with Charlotte.
I’d say that out of all the books in the series so far, this is probably the spiciest and has the most action. I enjoyed it.

Charlotte and Reid, their story is highly emotional, much more so than the previous ones in this series. He is her bodyguard and she doesn’t want to feel controlled in her activities however she is. Oh boy, what to say without giving spoilers? Her father insists on arranging a marriage between her and a total wimp. Not happening says Reid. Violence, creepy bad guys, even creepier is a woman readers have met in previous books. I found this book totally enthralling, I cried in a couple of chapters and I fell in love with both Charlotte and Reid.

This dynamic duo has written pure perfection ! The characters are amazing, vibrant and refreshing. Charlotte and Reid are so passionate and carnal in their love for one another, it just makes you sigh The plot explodes off the page in fierce intensity, you get swept away in the story and find it hard to put down. 5 ⭐️ isn’t enough. Loving every book in this series but WOW Reid and Charlotte they take it to the next level. Talk about a strong, protective alpha male he is it and then some. Charlotte is this sweet wonderful person who just wants to please her family. Did I mention he is her bodyguard. Yup and so many twists.

Not thrilled with this one. I just didn’t like Charlotte and I thought Reid was a jerk. Each one very unlikeable in their own way. Charlotte was weak and the darling princess Reid accused her of being. Reid just as controlling as everyone else in her life he just let her play her cello. And the I’ll give up everything for love, but I don’t have to because you are rich too. Really?! Then on top of that who listens to this woman who tired to kill people? Huge plot hole.

Best one yet!! Charlotte and Reids story and it was steamy and action packed from beginning to end. Reid is a man's man and he knows what he wants and goes after it. I love how he didn't back off once his mind was made up about Charlotte being his. This poor girl didn't know what hit her. Reid is an alpha male and makes no apologies about it. I loved everything about this book. I can't wait to read Lucians story and possibly read about Mary getting what's coming to her.

Every book in this series has been surpassing my expectations and makes me come back for more and more.
In the previous book, when we meet Reid and see how strong and silent but capable man he was, at that time he already had me intrigued about him and then when I realised that his book is going to be next with Charlotte, the youngest and most sheltered daughter of the Manwarring family, you bet I was oh so excited for their book.
And I have to say, this one is strongly competing with Harrison's book for the number one slot of my favourite book from this series and really I so didn't expect it to be filled with so many twists that had me hanging onto the ride, barely.
Reid was ex-marine and now head of security for the Manwarring family after a terrible incident that affected the other daughter of the family.
The lingering threats of long-time business ties broken, compel the family to set up strict security for the family meaning only Charlotte as she's the only female left single and in supposed danger.
Reid is given the responsibility of looking over the youngest daughter, Charlotte and he has no interest at all in babysitting a spoiled heiress, who has nothing else to do but shopping and gossip.
The twister that makes Reid heck confused is Charlotte is a sweet girl and plays the cello for the charity works even when she's hardly allowed to do anything else.
She's not the type to fuss over nonsensical things and when Reid discovers how Charlotte brings something primal out in him that he's never felt before, there starts the real struggle of acknowledging or denying those sparks of connection.
We get so many hot times and pull-your-hair kinda frustrating times too as these two give in to their desires one minute and then are bickering intensely the next about how they don't care about each other.
Also, the way Reid calls Charlotte "Princess" has made me see that nickname in another light and definitely endeared me to it.
Reid thinks she doesn't want to be with the help while Charlotte is aware she'll be married off soon and wants to do everything to please her dad especially when she feels responsible for taking away her dad's happiness.
We have Mary Astrid once again stirring up trouble for the people around her and this time her twisted wickedness comes to haunt and ruin Charlotte.
A desperate royal family, an unwanted nuptials, a wish to please your father and a man's realisation when these all conspire together to make him realise the treasure he has, you bet you'll have a blast reading this one as the upcoming twists will leave you turning the pages like crazy.
I really loved the later chapters packed with action as we see the 𝗌𝖾𝗑𝗒 Marine in all his action glory and also the emotional man who has the stark realisation of how his world would change if he didn't do what's necessary.
Oohhh... This one was another fun and exciting ride full of unpredictable twists and filled with 🌶️🔥 times that were melting for sure. Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ugghh sooo disappointed with basically everyone is this book. Charlotte for not even attempting to be her own person and admit that your father is a selfish prick who will never love you. Luc Jr. for not knowing his own sister enough to understand how miserable her entire existence was. Reid for throwing a hissy fits and almost getting her killed. Luc Sr. for making me hate him even more.
I did have higher hopes for this book because I am super hoe for the ex-military, bodyguard, age-gap dominating alphahole trope. But Reid just rubbed me the wrong way. First, he was childish in how he dealt with trying to get taken off of duty with Charlotte. We also know that he's watched/been infatuated with her for a couple years but had no plans to make any sort of move. He freely admitted to embellishing war stories to get laid out to the bar in the past. He threw a hissy fit and got a friend to watch over Charlotte which almost lead to her death (which that whole scene still baffles me...you have what sounds like a friend who does black op secret shit all the time but manages to bungle the whole operation and let a few would be hired assassins and an abusive jerk access to the one person you're supposed to be guarding). The only redeeming thing about Reid was how he handled Luc Sr.
Also, how the f*ck is Astrid still being left alone to her own devices??? The woman is pure evil and won't be stopped until someone does something about it, yet no one is doing anything. She's still allowed to be involved in everyone's lives and basically every horrible thing she does is glossed over. Like was no one smart enough to make the connection between her new friendship with the fiancé's mother?
I do have to give props for this line towards the beginning of the book:
'Don’t ever tell a man he’s your first in anything, princess. You’ll challenge him to become your last in everything.'

Seargent Reid.....
Reluctantly His is the fourth installment in the Gilded Decadence Series of interconnected standalones featuring Charlotte Manwarring and Reid Taylor.
Charlotte is the youngest Manwarring, sheltered, innocent and I would say she's spoilled just because the only life she knows is the upper echelon of society and nothing else, lives to please and be up to the expectations of her father .
Sargeant Reid Taylor is the head of security for the family, now tasked with being the bodyguard (babysitting) Charlotte in the aftermath of what went down in the previous book.
Neither is happy with the situation.
Observant, Reid has been intrigued with Charlotte since he started working for the Manwarrings and it wouldn't have mattered in the least if it weren't for the fact that he thinks his new position is way beneath his skills and, at the same time, he can't wait to have a taste of the forbidden. And so, he does.
What follows is two worlds about to collide, Charlotte testing rebellion, Reid happy to set her straight the old way and a marriage arrangement in between.
I loved our protagonists.
Charlotte is very reserved and carries the weight of being lesser at the eyes of Lucian Sr., for a reason she isn't even responsible for. She yearns for her father's approval and, even shaken with Reid's overpowering presence, proximity, inuendos and touch, mostly, the fact that he's the one that really 'sees' her, yet conflicted, goes along with the arranged marriage.
Reid does see her. Her potential, struggle, contrived life, passion, yearning for freedom and be loved, inconditional and completly. Something he feels he's willing to give her, dealing with her father is not of consequence, he knows the high society game and how to play it, he just needs Charlotte to choose for herself once in her life.
Intimacy is a lesson in corruption but things won't be easy, Charlotte's life is on the fence thanks to Mary Quinn Astrid another orchestration, Seargent Reid Taylor is the man for the task of protecting the only woman to ever mess with his head, his heart and soul and claim her of his own.
Energetic, action-packed and banter lust galore, a clear unbalance of forces in every direction with Charlotte as the weaker side, it was amazing when she finally decided to free fall despite the net being way higher and thicker than she thought.
She would be Reid's, safe, protected, free to do as she pleased, love, play her Celo how and where she wanted, taken care of and loved as she deserved.

This is the first book I have read from The Gilded Decadence Series, and I can’t wait to go back and read the others!
I can’t say enough good things about this book! Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop – stayed up way too late to finish this story. Every chapter I would start I told myself this was the last for the night and then something would happen at the end I just could not stop!
This story is about Reid, the filthy mouthed ex-Marine and Charlotte, the meek rich princess that feels that her duty lies with her father and his wishes.
Charlotte is so much more than what she shows to the world. She lived her life under her father’s thumb. She knew that one day her father would sell her off to marry a man that her father would perceive to strengthen his place in the world. Even though she didn’t want that life, she would acquiesce to her father’s wishes. That was until she met Reid. He pushed her out of her comfort zone. Through her inner struggles between what she wanted and what was expected of her, she was able to grow a bit of a backbone and stand up for herself.
And Reid? Oh my stars! If you are looking for new book boyfriend that gives off major Daddy vibes with a mouth made of sin, then this is the one for you! Reid is unapologetic in his desire for Charlotte. Reid runs security for Charlotte’s father and has watched her from afar for years. It wasn’t until he was tasked with being her bodyguard that he was able to see there was more to Charlotte than meets the eye. The chemistry between Reid and Charlotte was pure fire! The drama, action and danger was perfectly paced with the spice. And the spice was definitely spicey. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves a good dark romance with age-gap and bodyguard tropes.

I can’t say enough good things about this book! Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop – stayed up way too late to finish this story. Every chapter I would start I told myself this was the last for the night and then something would happen at the end I just could not stop!
This story is about Reid, the filthy mouthed ex-Marine and Charlotte, the meek rich princess that feels that her duty lies with her father and his wishes.
Charlotte is so much more than what she shows to the world. She lived her life under her father’s thumb. She knew that one day her father would sell her off to marry a man that her father would perceive to strengthen his place in the world. Even though she didn’t want that life, she would acquiesce to her father’s wishes. That was until she met Reid. He pushed her out of her comfort zone. Through her inner struggles between what she wanted and what was expected of her, she was able to grow a bit of a backbone and stand up for herself.
And Reid? Oh my stars! If you are looking for new book boyfriend that gives off major Daddy vibes with a mouth made of sin, then this is the one for you! Reid is unapologetic in his desire for Charlotte. Reid runs security for Charlotte’s father and has watched her from afar for years. It wasn’t until he was tasked with being her bodyguard that he was able to see there was more to Charlotte than meets the eye. He sees who she really is and it’s not the spoiled rich princess the world sees. He initially thought he could scare her enough that she would run to daddy to pull him from being her bodyguard. This is book four in The Gilded Decadence series and it is Charlotte and Reid’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Charlotte is the daughter of a wealthy family and her father is cold, rigid and blames Charlotte for his wife death because she died giving birth to her so he uses her as a pawn for business, wealth, power and status and she has always had to follow the rules and do as she was told which not only stifles her life but also stops her doing anything that she wants and because of the threat from the Irish mob who doesn’t want to give up their power and business after recent events she now has a bodyguard who will go with her every where even to the thing that keeps her sane and that is playing her cello because the music soothes her soul. Reid is a complicated person and also part of the security team for Charlotte’s family and now he had been assigned to be her bodyguard which is something that he didn’t want to do because if anything happened it would be his reputation on the line and he also knew that she often tried to get away from the people protecting her and he wouldn’t let that happen especially as he was also so attracted to her which is something that hadn’t happened to him before but couldn’t do anything about it which caused major complications. When Charlotte is told by her father that he had arranged a marriage for her she protested because she wanted a marriage of love but her father dismissed her and told her that she would do her duty to the family but when Reid heard this he was so angry because Charlotte was his and no one else would have her. Charlotte and Reid had many ups and downs and there relationship was definitely not plain sailing but there love for each other made everything possible and the chemistry between them was so hot and intense that every time they were near each other there connection just couldn’t be denied. There are twists and turns along the way that will have you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages because you are unable to put this book down and some of the scenes between Charlotte and Reid are so explosive that you need to make sure that you have a cold drink handy because you are definitely going to need it. I definitely recommend that you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed because it is so addictive and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
