Just finished it after an all-nighter. Initial impressions are that it’s an immersively fun read with maybe a few nitpicks. Those con’s don’t diminish the sheer SHIMMERS of fun that the pro’s display. Gladys is in full force every time she’s on the pages. The main character could do with some more, well, character but her motives are solid and the story interesting enough to keep you hooked for the duration. Looking forward to more from Geezah 🫶🏾
I couldn't put it down. It is a wild ride, from beginning to end. Excellent read, and so heartwarming.
I hope that there is more than a sequel in the works because I want to sit with Gladys, have a wee cuppa and spill the tea.
To the author, Thank You for taking a pain day and making it a joyfilled place to be with your writing. I will be buying a paper copy as soon as I can.
I couldn’t put it down. I just needed to know what happened next. Really enjoyed the book. I follow DLS on tik tok and recognised quite a few of the characters in the book. I could hear Gladys chatting away ‘my lovelies’ Well Geezah I hope you’re writing the sequel because that was one helluva of an ending. Think we need a cuppy and a chat
This book was absolutely enthralling! I borrowed it on Kindle Unlimited but absolutely going to purchase a copy for my bookshelf now! The story line was great and easy to follow. It kept my attention, which is not easy to do. There’s adventure and some tugs on the hearts strings in it. I have always adored Gladys from TikTok.
This is a very niche book for me because during COVID, I stumbled upon this drag queen on TikTok who created this world and characters revolving around the Department for Lost Souls. Combining elements of mythology, the Afterlife/Underworld, and of course amazing LGBTQ+ characters, it became a safe space that I found comfort in when scrolling.
I honestly forgot they were writing a book, so when I found this, I was so excited!!! It was so cool to see all the characters come to life and all the Halls/Departments/Regions in depth. It was super cute, even tho that Grace was AN IDIOT AND NAIVE AND DROVE ME CRAZY. DONT YOU KNOW GLADYS KNOWS ALL!? :D 2.5/5
Gladys became my favorite eons ago on tiktok. It was wonderful to see what a day (or so) in her life was like. Such a Beautiful soul that everyone needs to have on speed dial. I fussed at Grace, with various levels of frustration, but fell in love with her innocence. The many characters were easily envisioned by their descriptions. I would love to hang out with all of them and chat about their life's adventures. I would certainly bring a mug for the mug thief, and nuts and flowers for the nut. I look forward to future DLS adventures.
I liked this story but please, when someone goes by something, they go PAST it, not passed it. Once or twice would be fine but it's every single time. The sentence: 'Everybody shouting at each other to get passed' is what did me in. 'Fighting for piece' was the final straw. Errors like this rip me completely out of the story and take away from it. The brightside I suppose is I am hooked enough to read more if/when they come. I really do love stories like this and it will be fun to watch the author grow.
I have been following @geezahgobble Department of Lost Souls on Tiktok for awhile and I was eagerly anticipating this story. It did not disappointt! Gladys your voice came through loud and clear!! Cannot wait for the next installment!
A spirited, humorous and often slyly poignant portrayal of friendship and human identity. For anyone who has seen Gladys brim with charm on TikTok, this book is a fuller illustration of how three dimensional and wonderfully human she is. A really great accoutrement to long travel days.
I enjoyed this book so much. It brings to “life” some of the characters that are oftentimes mentioned in skits. I was kept guessing on several occasions. I didn’t want to put the book down. There were a few twists and turns that weren’t expected. I will always make sure to keep a hand on my mug when I, hopefully, read the next book.
