Sometimes all it takes to find love is a little courage.
After being fired from her job and faced with a dwindling bank account, Jennifer Harris finds herself at a crossroads, uncertain of her next move. When her best friend suggests that she stay at a cabin on the edge of her family’s property for a few weeks, Jennifer reluctantly agrees. While escaping the chaos is enticing, Jennifer grapples with her fear of change and the unknown. Before she can change her mind, she leaves her dreary apartment behind and drives toward the coast, bracing herself for the unfamiliar challenges ahead.
Riley Keaton is an award-winning photographer with an eye for capturing the beauty of nature around her. Living alone with Ansel, her faithful canine, in a house overlooking the ocean, she has everything she needs to be happy. Yet, despite her success, sometimes late at night, Riley finds herself lonely and wondering if she should do more than capture beautiful moments but should live them. Her challenge lies in finding a way to meet someone she connects with.
When a fierce storm strikes the coastline, leaving Jennifer isolated and discouraged in the cabin, Riley is called upon to come to her rescue. Their meeting, during the wind and torrential rain, alters the course of both their lives in ways they could never have imagined.

I did enjoy the first half. Also a lot of back and forth with Jennifer wanting to leave and then ending up not leaving. The second half was just boring for the most part. Didn't see the chemistry. Appreciated the anxiety and depression rep.
Jennifer is fired from her job (for not revealing her sources). Her job prospects don't look good and her savings are dwindling. But she needs time to think. So her bestfriend Gabby tells her to go to her cousin Riley's extra cabin. Jennifer agrees and Gabby messages Riley. Then Jennifer and Riley meet and hearts flutter. What a great love story this is! Worthy of more than 5 stars!
KC writes with such passion and conviction in her novels and this one is no exception. Apart from a couple of typos the book was perfect. The coming together of two scared souls, one filled with anxiety and the other filled with compassion. The couple of references to other novels by KC added to the warm feelings. I recommend this book.
Photography, a cabin, a storm and two out of sorts women. Living with severe anxiety makes the isolation of a cabin an ideal place hide, especially after losing your job. KC Luck writes the tension, confusion, and conversation between the characters so well. A great read
I use live in Portland, OR and Vancuver, WA and the descriptoin of that weather is spot on. The women fell in love fast and one batling. mental health showes the depth of both characters seeing through the end.
Well written. The only problem I had was that I’m a sucker for an easy going romance. This isn’t that. It’s a romance with 2 flawed women with issues. How they make a life with those issues is the story. The on again off again is hard to read but I could understand the problems between them. Both very unsure of what they have between them. Love KC Lucks books.
A Sweet & Instant Connection With A Glimpse Into Mental Illness!
KC Luck has written a story that has great main characters add loving and supportive best friends, one a canine. The story takes you through an attraction that starts accidentally and grows. But fear, anxiety’s and mental pressure causes something that was going so good to turn. Riley, a photographer owns the cabin on her property that her cousin Gabby offers to Jennifer so she can relax and regroup after being fired. But once Jennifer gets there, everything goes downhill and Riley has to rescue her and bring her to her home. Jennifer is cold, wet and now sick. Riley who loves her solitary life pushes her thoughts aside to try and take care of Jennifer. It is such a lovely and beautiful story that makes you feel good. Loved It!
If you’re someone that struggles with social anxiety, then this is the book for you. Faced with years of mental health management, the main character struggles with the idea of being lovable. This was a nice insight into the mind of someone who doesn’t know how to wrangle being around people.
4/5 stars because… 1. I didn’t feel like there was character growth. Anxiety was such a focal point; yet, the characters never developed management techniques. 2. Most of the book is an internal dialogue of ‘I’m not good enough’. Which read like a sad journal. 3. Because of #1 and #2, I finished the book feeling down and a little depressed.
I’ve noticed a lot of books lately are handling mental health issues. In my opinion that’s a good thing and can only help the stigma behind it. We are not broken, we just need that bit of understanding and support. The main characters in this book are really cute, they have that instalove connection, when you meet someone and just know. Although it’s not as simple as most stories, we go on quite the journey with this book. And let’s not forget the dog! Such a cutie, and more well behaved than books I’ve read involving children. Can’t wait to read more KC Luck releases.
Riley is a wild life photographer living on the coast of Washington with her dog, Ansel. When her cousin Gabby invites her friend, Jennifer, to use her small cabin as a retreat without her knowledge she’s surprised. Jennifer is anxious and a little sick from the rain and a night in the cold cabin. As they spend time together they find solace in each other’s presence. A wonderful story of love and recovery. Love the author’s writing.
KC did a good job of how a person with depression and anxiety think and how they feel. Jennifer is like all over the place and you can feel how the anxiety start to take over then then depression starts. Riley has her problems of being bullied and doesn't really want people around her. When they meet the chemistry is so strong and feeling is mutual, Jennifer's anxiety is so high that she doesn't want Riley to have to deal with her difficult issues. A wonderful story
I have to say that this book really did a number on me. It was a bit nerve-racking at times with all the anxiety and such. Certainly something I can understand, though not on the level of the main character. But it was good to see the two main characters work everything out in the end. Definitely worth the read.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish this book, despite trying a few times. I absolutely couldn’t take to Jennifer and found her to be too annoying as a character to want to see where the story went. That’s not to say other people won’t enjoy this read though, and the overall reviews reflect that. Sadly, it just wasn’t for me.
She has a way of drawing you into the world that all of her characters live in. Her storylines always flow really well and that makes her books easy to read in a sitting. I always feel like I could hang out with the characters she creates and some of them remind me of my own friends. The romance and heat that she writes are the perfect blend, with a bit of angst thrown in to keep you reading. So, if you find yourself cozy on a couch, wondering what to do on a rainy day, maybe grab a copy of her latest book and disappear to Oregon. You’ll enjoy your time there with Jennifer, Riley and Ansel.
"Capture the Moment" was a wonderful love story, I totally enjoyed it. Riley & Jennifer both had their own baggage and fears, but their feelings for each other were stronger!!
Another sweet wlw romance. The romance itself was sweet and gentle which I enjoyed, I did struggle a little with the characters and the constant ‘I’m not good enough’ monologue though.
