Just Right

Meeting just the right guy would have been easy … if she hadn’t dated his older brother first.

Georgia Quinn has two jobs, a decaying house, and a timid roommate. Everything changes when she discovers her roommate’s two brothers secretly staying in her house while she’s at work. If that isn’t bad enough, one brother is her ex-boyfriend and the other is her newest crush. And now they all want to stay with her.

Matthew Bruin finally meets the perfect girl for him … until he learns that she’s his brother’s ex. Stepping aside would be easier if Rex wasn’t asking for his help in winning Georgia back.

With the four of them living under one crumbling roof, there’s plenty that can go wrong, but is there anything that can go just right?

Are you ready for a Goldilocks re-imagined where the bears are crashing her house? Just Right is perfect for those who enjoy faith-filled, light-hearted romances, and it’s short enough to enjoy in one sitting.

Just Right by A.M. Heath is a novella that offers a delightful blend of romance, humor, and faith. It's a reminder that while life's circumstances may be messy and unpredictable, trusting in God's plan will lead us to what is truly just right. This novella is perfect for readers who enjoy a quick, uplifting read that reinforces the beauty of God's timing and the joy of discovering the perfect fit in both love and life.

From the moment Georgia Quinn discovers her timid roommate's two brothers secretly staying in her decaying house, the story unfolds with the charming chaos reminiscent of Goldilocks encountering the three bears. Each character in Just Right brings a unique flavor to the tale, much like Goldilocks tasting the different bowls of porridge. Georgia's journey in finding what—or rather, who—is just right for her is both entertaining and heartwarming.

Heath's writing style is engaging, and the pacing is perfect for a novella meant to be devoured in one sitting. The interactions between Georgia, her ex-boyfriend Rex, and her new crush Matthew are infused with tension, humor, and sincerity. It's a delicate balance that Heath manages to maintain throughout the story, ensuring that nothing feels too rushed or too slow—everything is just right.

One of the standout aspects of Just Right is the seamless integration of Christian messages. They are woven into the narrative naturally, never feeling forced or out of place. This novella is a cute romance while also being a cherished story that reflects the Christian journey of finding trust in God and understanding His timing. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This verse beautifully encapsulates Georgia's realization that finding the right person, like finding the right porridge, requires patience and faith in God's perfect plan.

Here are three quotes from the book that resonated with me: (1) “The Bible has a lot to say about what the Lord wants from us. To be holy as He is holy. To live righteously. To love Him with all our hearts, soul, mind, and strength”; (2) “Why live under the burden of someone else’s dreams for us when the Lord keeps us more than busy with His ideals for us?; and (3) “If you let Him, He’ll use every bit of you, even as He’s cleaning you up.”

Reading Just Right by A.M. Heath was like stepping into a contemporary fairytale where Goldilocks isn't just searching for the perfect porridge but for the perfect relationship dynamic. In this delightful novella, Heath skillfully blends a light-hearted romance with faith-filled themes, creating a story that is, quite simply, just right.

I was blessed to receive an eARC of Just Right from the author. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing style, the pacing, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

This is such a cute novella. Georgia and Matthew have a meet cute at the hardware store where she works. However, when she arrives home she finds her ex-boyfriend,Rex, has been living in her house the last few days, along with his brother who happens to be Matthew. Now this may sound strange but both of these men are Georgia’s roommate’s brothers. Matthew is attracted to Georgia but after he finds out she is his brother’s ex, she is off limits. But when Rex decides to try and get back with Georgia, Georgia and Matthew find they both don’t like that idea and long to be with each other but don’t want to hurt Rex.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked Georgia and Matthew. I liked all the Christian content. Overall, a great novella and I definitely recommend.

This was an adorable story between Georgia and Matthew where Georgia ends up with the brother that is just right for her. A comical and creative retelling of Goldilocks, this was a fun read that showed the dilemma between picking from good enough and the best. The antics that Georgia got herself into were quite funny, and Matthew’s responses were just as charming and thoughtful.

A.M. Heath has a knack for writing love triangles that don’t make readers cringe, which I truly appreciate. Rather than drawing out the suspense for long periods, the author instead uses it to help characters better understand who they are and who they want to be with. If you’re looking for a short novella that offers an adorable meet cute and a quirky family to boot, Just Right is the right book to pick up.

A delightful novella with a touch of Goldilock's story. Georgia arrives home and just wants to relax after a hard day. What a surprise, however, when she walked into the bathroom and discovered a "bear" already in her bathtub! Turns out her unexpected guest is an old boyfriend.
The story is quite humorous as well as inspirational in that how do you tell an old beau that you have no feelings for him and yet he is trying to demonstrate his faith; and yet his brother...... well, I will let you read that for yourself.
It is very well written. I received a copy of the story from the author. This review is my honest opinion.

Modern fairy tales

It was a cute, yet tender story of a young woman caught between brothers, little brother who loved her back and big brother who wanted to prove himself to himself. There was humor and fun moments, but I began to ache for Matthew as he tried to let go and let big brother, Rex, take his girl away. I was glad that Georgia finally set the record right with Rex and let her feelings for Matthew out. I liked how the presenting of the new life in Christ is based on Christ and His work, not on someone else’s influence, was expressed. We only change because Christ makes the change, not to please others.

I received a complimentary copy and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

As the author states in the book bio, this was definitely a light-hearted romance. I am a picky romance reader but Just Right was super sweet, inspirational, and humorous.

Matthew and Georgia were “just right” for each other, and I was cheering them on from the beginning. Rex was, in a word, annoying.

The faith elements were spot on. I appreciated the messages of striving to please God rather than man and putting your desires aside for someone else.

4 stars! I recommend this if you’re looking for a short and sweet romance with a little bit of family drama and dilemma and a whole lot of heart. Excellent spring and summer reading material.

Thanks to the author for the ecopy and letting me be a part of the team! :)

I am not a fan of fairytale retellings, so when I saw that this one was a retelling of Goldilocks and the 3 bears, I was first of all baffled at how you could do that with people as a romance and then a bit leery that it would be lame or cheesy. It was not lame.. there may have been a bit of cheese, but it was the sweet kind not the annoying kind. I enjoyed the romance that plays outs but even more I enjoyed the faith story. Well done!

Loved the intro that included Matt & Georgia’s first meeting. Then learn of all the ways it could go wrong. Siblings, the good and the bad. The sweet reminders we are to practice living God’s love when it is easy AND when it is hard. A short story perfect for a rainy afternoon.

Have read the Christmas in Garland series by A.M. Heath. Saw this book, Just Right, and the Goldilocks reference got my attention. I recommend both sets of books for a joyful, clean and uplifting read.
Enjoyed the humour in this story. A good re-telling of the Goldilocks fairy tale. Instead of the bears coming home to find someone had eaten their porridge and was sleeping in a bed, Georgia came home to find a hairy beast having a bubble bath.
Her house mate has two brothers who are suddenly homeless and have been living secretly in George’s house. Read the book to find out how they were able to get away with this without Georgia’s permission or awareness. Then continue to read about the transformation of one of the brothers as he faces the need to change. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Not my usual read as I'm not a big believer but... the author delivers a gentle, faith‑centred romance that is warm. Just Right blends emotional honesty with a distinctly Christian tone, creating a story where spiritual growth is as important as romantic connection.

What stood out most to me is how naturally the faith elements are woven into the characters’ lives. Prayer, reflection, and seeking God’s guidance aren’t tacked on—they’re part of the characters’ decision‑making and part of the story’s moral heartbeat. Heath writes believers the way they actually live: imperfectly, earnestly, and with a desire to do what’s right even when it’s uncomfortable.

The romance itself is sweet and steady, grounded in themes of humility, and grace. Rather than leaning on drama, the author focuses on character development and the quiet courage required to build trust. It’s the kind of story that reinforces the idea that love grows best when rooted in faith. If you enjoy clean Christian romance , then this is right up your street...

A quirky kind of love triangke based on Goldilocks.
What would you do if you came home early and found a Bruin in your bathtub and his brother in your pink bathrobe? Georgia, who is renovating her inherited house, has a roommate Janine. When her brothers need a place to stay, they try to keep it from Georgia, only staying when she is at work at two jobs. When the bear is out of the bathtub- or the cat is out of the bag- Georgia realizes that Rex is her Ex! Boyfriend that is. The trouble is she met brother Matthew at work and is attracted to him.
This was a fun novella full of Georgia and Matthew doing what they though was best for Rex because he wants another chance with Georgia. The three of them truly do want God’s will but don’t want to hurt feelings.
The writing style makes me want to read more by this author.

This was such a fun story! I’ve loved fairy tales and retellings for ages, and combining that with romantic comedy made for a delightful read. I loved the characters, especially Matthew; he was such a sweetheart! The Goldilocks element came through well, without feeling overly forced, and there were some truly hilarious moments in the story (as well as a few more serious ones; you need those too, right?). If you’re looking for a fast, easy, lighthearted read, I’d recommend you pick this story up.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

Georgia Quinn has two jobs, a timid roommate and a decaying house. As if that isn't enough, she comes home one day to find her roommates two brothers are living there without her consent-and one is her ex-boyfriend! She starts falling for the other brother and her feelings are reciprocated, but the ex throws a monkey wrench into the situation as he is determined to win Georgia back. This is hard on both Matthew and Georgia as he wants to date her and she feels the same and has no desire to get back with Rex. This is a fun, Christian story with interesting characters and a happy ending.

Georgia, trying to earn enough money to renovate her grandparents’ crumbing house gratefully accepts tenant, Jeanine into her home to help with rent and expenses, although she has initial doubts as Jeanine’s brother is her ex, loud, bumbling and ‘bullying’ Rex. A shock awaits her after a particularly hard day when she discovers not only Rex, but another brother, Matthew, ‘squatting’ in her home.
The author has created a largely light-hearted, HEA novella featuring four young people finding their way in life. It includes Rex’s clumsy attempts at romance, feelings developing between Georgia and Matthew, an attraction which both have blocked in consideration of Rex, and Jeanine’s vague participation, all overlaid with Christian beliefs and faith in the Lord to resolve matters to everyone’s satisfaction. The highlight is the author’s ability to keep the reader unable to anticipate a happy outcome to this love impasse.
i received a review copy from the author, and this is my honest opinion.

I read this story in a just a couple days as I couldn't put the book down too long- I had to know how the story ended! A.M. Heath is a wonderful story teller who has an incredible way of weaving words, characters, and action to her story! The characters in the story; the main 4, grabbed my attention and I wondered (as they did) just how is this story going to end up with anything good? Yet, A.M. Heath does just that- make the story move and come to an ending that surprises us yet, at the same time, is an ending we know is right for the characters.
Take a chance on this book, Just Right, and be blessed by your time with this story. Highly recommend this as something you must read, even if you don't enjoy romance stories, this one is worth reading! Don't miss it!

Just Right was such a sweet story! I enjoyed this loose retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Matthew and Georgia's story is beautiful (from their meet-cute to that perfect ending). I loved the family dynamics, how each character has a purpose (yes, even Rex, who is actually more multifaceted than he seemed at first), and how they all needed to grow in their relationship with the Lord and with each other (I loved that reminder). This was my first read by this author but it won't be my last, since now I want to read Jeanine's and Rex's. ~ 5 stars!

This story has an insane plot and the story line is just above crazy. Three family members move into Georgia's house and one of them is her ex-boyfriend who is trying to get her back. The brother of the boyfriend is falling crazy in love with Georgia while the sister just sits back and smiles. The sister is without personality or character sustainability. It's a shame because the other three main characters have sturdy personalities and are vivacious, while the sister acts like she doesn't exist. The chemistry between Matthew and Georgia is intense.

Imagine Georgia's surprise when she discovers her quirky roommate secretly invited her two brothers to stay with them--surprise because she previously dated one of them and has a crush on the other! How's a girl to choose whether to go back to the relationship she knows or to choose to move forward to the relationship that could be?

Come along for this exciting adventure of who to choose!

Georgia and Matthew´s situation surely is complicated but I think there is a reason things didn´t work out with Rex, so when you meet your perfect match, you have the right to put your own happiness first.
