Actually finished this book nearly 2 weeks ago. I learned quite a bit about the Amish sects that I'd never heard of, and Lizzie is amazing. Her first language being Pennsylvania Dutch, Lizzie is articulate, funny, direct and humble. This book chronicles the journey of her life story, including tragically losing her father at a young age. The book itself only took me about a day to finish, but it's impact will be long-lasting. Recommended.

Meh. Save yourself the money and just go watch her pinned stories on her TikTok exactly the same stories but free. But now all her lives are about her soap company.

The parts about the Amish community were interesting, but I didn’t like the writing style or the motivational part.

Book Review : Amish Renegade: The Anthropology of an Amish Girl Turned Global CEO by "Lizzie Ens"

In "Amish Renegade," readers are taken on an incredible journey through the life of a woman who bravely escaped the limitations of her conventional Amish background. The writer, who spent her formative years navigating the obstacles of being part of a large family with 19 siblings and experiencing the deep sorrow of losing her father at the age of thirteen, presents a narrative that is both intimately personal and broadly uplifting.

Starting from her modest origins in a secluded community, the author evolved into a serial entrepreneur. Her story is not just a tale of achievement; it stands as a tribute to perseverance and the unyielding chase of one's aspirations amid challenges. The difficulties she faced, along with her limited exposure to the outside world, illustrate the bravery required to create one’s own journey.

What distinguishes "Amish Renegade" is its genuine nature. The writer explores the intricacies of personal development, revealing how variations in goals and achievements can occasionally lead to separations in relationships. Through each challenge, she shines as a symbol of hope, reminding readers that in the bleakest times, there's always a way to forge your own path.

The book is filled with thought-provoking stories and impactful lessons that linger long after the final page is read. The writer's sincerity and enthusiasm are evident, motivating readers to reject societal norms and welcome change wholeheartedly. Her path acts as a reminder that genuine satisfaction comes from following one’s true purpose, regardless of how intimidating the journey appears.

For individuals looking for motivation to tackle challenges or encouragement to start new journeys, "Amish Renegade" provides essential insights delivered through a captivating story. It serves as a call for action for those feeling confined by their situations, encouraging them to summon the bravery to alter their path and accept their individual journey. This memoir both inspires and empowers readers to trust in their ability to shape a life that represents their authentic selves.

In conclusion, "Amish Renegade" is an inspiring book that will connect with those seeking personal development and change. It serves as a strong reminder that through perseverance and bravery, we can all shape our own futures

This is my second time reading this book by Lizzie. I, like many others, found Lizzie through Reels almost 2 years ago. I hired her in the spring of 2025 for nutrition coaching when I was at one of my sickest points and doctors had given up on me. Within 6 weeks, I went from vomiting up every meal to tolerating basic protein and carbs (I later found out I had hEDS and medication had flared up my entire gastro system and Lizzie helped calm it down). I bought her book and asked for a signed copy to celebrate our progress together (because it's not always about trying to lose weight). I had known about her background in the Amish community from social media, but reading the book opened my eyes to how much she had overcome. I learned a lot about the Amish and her tragic story.

It's a great book to read if you find the topic interesting, even if you don't know Lizzie personally. The book is self-published and does have some typical formatting/typos errors, but is recently updated. The book is 98% about her Amish upbringing, but the end does pitch her business and coaching career (which I've had good experiences with and didn't mind). Interesting all the way through!

The parts about being Amish was so interesting. The dating surprised me but the sister already having 10 or 12 kids did not. It turned from her story to more of an ad for her business, which I am impressed she made but not what I wanted to read about.

2.5 stars. I wanted more stories from her Amish life and post Amish life instead of a pitch for her business. Writing was meh but the story carries it through
