This book covers ideas beyond publishing to kdp including marketing, writing, editing, getting reviews. The most detailed sections are around uploading to kdp, translations, and audiobooks. This book would be best paired with other books which go in-depth and cover how-tos to the other mentioned concepts.

What I liked: lots of ideas you might not think about in a career of self publishing like audiobooks and translations, getting newsletter subscribers, having a launch plan, and marketing.

What I wish it had: most of the information was listed without the how. Example, the book says to get a lead magnet to gain newsletter subscribers but doesn’t go into what it is or any ideas on what to use or how to deliver it. For social media marketing the book says to identify where your specific reader congregates most but doesn’t tell you how. Some things it’s missing: information about how to obtain ISBNs and the pros and cons of each, how to manage Amazon A+ content, how to avoid predatory practices like vanity presses and bad actors selling cover design, how to submit LCCN and copyright, and it’s missing how to format your book and interior options like chapter headers and the software to do it.
