Enjoyed this book focused on the album Folklore and background information gathered by one swiftie. She also highlights lyrics from other Taylor Swift albums that relate to the songs of Folklore. In addition, the author discusses Taylor’s personal history, as well as movies, books, and other music that may have inspired these songs.
This book review is for my fellow Swifties. This is an essential read for any Taylor Swift fan looking to gain a deeper understanding of her eighth studio era. Through a blend of trivia, games, and fan theories, the book helps readers analyze the lyrics, narratives, and characters found in the folklore era (which was developed under the working title "Woodvale").
Author Alison Thirteen, a lifelong fan since the Taylor Swift debut era, acts as your guide through this exploration. The book invites readers to uncover hidden meanings and literary references within the songs, fostering moments of realization and deeper appreciation for the storytelling. Beyond simple analysis, it encourages fans to connect themes across different eras and enjoy the "clowning" we Swifties are known for. It is an invitation to immerse yourself in the world of folklore and discover everything it has to offer.
I have previously reviewed her book about Reputation album and am reading her book about Evermore. These are the only three she has out so far. I’m hoping she will do Midnights and TTPD soon. I learned a lot that I didn’t know. I really enjoyed it and just seeing a breakdown of Taylor’s amazing lyricism brought joy! She really is the best songwriter of all time.
