Dukes Most Wanted #6

Forever Her Scot

Rate this book
A marriage of convenience between a Scottish duke and an American heiress turns sizzling in this final entry of USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott's delightfully wicked Dukes Most Wanted series.

American heiress Madeline Chartrand has a problem. Her matchmaking mother is determined to secure an aristocratic husband for her, despite her wishes to the contrary. Lachlan Macfie, the newly minted Duke of Kenross, has an even bigger problem. He’s just inherited a moldering Scottish estate, crumbling castle and all, without the massive funds necessary to repair and run it.

Fortunately, Lachlan has the perfect solution—a marriage of convenience. It’s a simple enough arrangement. Madeline gets the duke her mother hopes for, and Lachlan can restore the estate with the help of her vast dowry. All he has to do is convince the stubborn and delectable Miss Chartrand that marriage is the answer to both their quandaries.

Madeline doesn’t want to wed anyone, least of all the burly Scot who trampled her train and spilled champagne on her gown at their first introduction. He’s too tall, too brash, and too overwhelming. She doesn’t even like him.

Until they’re stranded alone together and Lachlan proves he’s not just capable of protecting her from danger, but kissing her witless. Suddenly, Madeline finds herself facing an entirely new problem. She’s falling in love with a man who wants a marriage in name only. But can she settle for a forever if she can’t have his heart?

Heat level: Scorching hot! Don't say you weren't warned.

Forever Her Scot is a marriage of convenience, historical romance between a Scottish Duke and an American heiress! This is a quick, 200-ish page read and it was a lot of fun.

Madeline is an American heiress whose mother is determined to see her married to an aristocratic husband, even though Madeline doesn’t want that. At a house party she ends up meeting Lachlan Macfie, a newly minted, reluctant Duke who just inherited a molding Scottish estate, with a crumbling castle and none of the massive funds needed to repair and run it. He takes Madeline on a picnic and has the perfect solution to fix both of their problems…a marriage of convenience!

Now he just has to convince Madeline to marry him. At first she wants nothing to do with marriage, and especially not to the burly Scot who trampled her gown and spilled champagne on her the first time they met. But when they get trapped together inside a crumbling castle and he comes to her rescue to protect her, things take a turn and lead to a kiss…

This was a short, fun read! She never wanted to marry, he didn’t want to marry for love (and even took a vow of celibacy) after being ditched by someone he cared for in the past. Madeline is the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in New York City and in London with her mother and sister. The house party and friend group was fun and the steam between Madeline and Lachlan, while quick, felt believable too. Fun epilogue in the future with all the couples in the series featured and their children too, since this is to be the last in this series!

Awesome as usual

I love this author when she writes good faithful heroes which is most of the times. The duke was such a good man. He had loved a woman but she turned him down, when he was just a mister for someone with a title. He had been celibate since then. He meets the heroine and likes her especially because she's tall. And he wants a,marriage in name only. But this little h has decided she wants more. I just loved the story. And the epilogue was so so cute. Good book for sure.

This is my 75th book by Scarlett Scott. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. She is actually one of my top favorites. I have been reading her since 2016. I love her stories and her writing and she writes such damn good, yummy, hot sex scenes. I know I will always get a good read from her. I loved all the books in this series.

This was a great story. I loved Madeline and Lachlan. Such a cute couple and really good read. She got good depth in the story and their really wasn't more she could have done even though I felt it did read a bit fast. I did love their personalities and sex was so good. It's funny, I'm not big on "Scottish" stories or American characters fan but this was such a great couple. I want Lachlan for my book boyfriend, he was so fucking hot.

DNF @ 60%.

Underwhelming.

Thin and predictable plot.

Formulaic.

Flat and uninteresting main characters.

Idealized and formulaic main character.
(The hero is very tall and very big/hulking/muscular and handsome.)🙄

Very OTT and repetitive description of the hero.
(He is described as more or less a giant in how big his body is.)

Romance/chemistry very unconvincing.

Weird pacing.

Another brilliant romance from the author, I just love her books & highly recommend all of them. I loved both Lachlan & Madeline, he’s built like a highlander & is a gentle giant, Madeline is a feisty, outspoken American. The banter between them was delicious as was their chemistry. Madeline’s opinion of Lachlan changed when he shielded her from a rock fall. I loved their journey to a HEA it was both tender & steamy. I devoured it in a sitting, reading well into the night to finish it
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

Lachlan Macfie aka newly minted Duke of Kinross is in trouble! He has inherited a broke Dukedom and a Scottish castle in ruins!
Madeline Chartrand is an American heiress who has sworn off men who only want her fortune!
She had not counted on one brawny Scott nor her determined parents who have given her and ultimatum to wed in 2 months!
These two have chemistry that scorched the pages! Lachlan has made a stupid vow but so has Madeline and neither are the same!
Love how Madeline melts his cold heart with her curiosity and her touch!
Can these two resist each other and still have a future! Lachlan has let his past control him and Madeline as well! If they can let go past disappointments they can have a future unimaginable! Bravo

A newly titled Duke that inherits an impoverished estate decides to propose a marriage of convenience to an American heiress. That description was enough to pull me in.
I knew as soon as I started reading this book I would not want to put it down. I found myself falling in love with the characters from the beginning. I enjoyed Lachlan Macfie and Madeline Chartrand from previous books. They were written with bold personalities and lots of humour. One of the things I love about Scarlett Scott's writing style is how thorough she is when writing her characters.
This book was entertaining throughout, the love for each other was pouring off the pages, and add in the hot, passionate scenes between Lachlan and Madeline and the book was perfect. Even the epilogue was great. I will miss the characters from this series.
This book can be stand alone, but I highly recommend the series. Definitely one I will read again.

What a truly beautiful and special last story to end this series with. When the series first began, I was hoping Madeline's story would be next and was fairly disappointed that is wasn't. Now I'm thrilled it was last as it closed out the entire series in a romantic, hot, spicy manner that only this author could pull off. Lachlan is a new Scottish Duke, a huge giant of a man with the gentlest of hearts. He's so gentle that he was deeply hurt and vowed never to allow it again. He needs a dowry so he marries Madeline. She turns his world upside down before they even wed. His self reflection as well as his banter with his employer/friend had me laughing constantly. A story not to miss, it's short, entertaining, hot and engaging.

I love this author and how her books pull you into the storyline. Madeline is an American heiress and is sassy and outgoing. Lachlan is a handsome Scott looking desperately for an heiress to help with his estate ever since he became a Duke.
They both have a painful past, but they help each other through it. And I enjoyed reading how their marriage of convenience helped them!
This story made me laugh, especially with Decker teasing Lachlan and feel goosebumps in a good way over their steamy love scenes.
This is a perfectly fast paced romance with the MC’s falling in love and lovable secondary characters from previous books in this delightful series.
And the epilogue was so perfect how it included all of the characters from the previous books in it!

I didn’t read the whole book, so my comment might seem biased.

Why do some authors feel the need to remind us over 5,000 times when a character has a particular physical trait? This is basically what happened with the MMC—there wasn’t a page where it wasn’t mentioned how tall and big he is. Like, girl, ok, we get it. 🙄

4.5⭐️ I love Lachlan. He is the sweetest and how he holds on to his vows but ended it because he can’t resist Madeline. I found the fml really good too because she’s not that shy and went straight for what she wants. Just a delight read for me.

An american heiress, whos parents are insisting she marries soon, a giant of a Scot who has recently and unexpectedly become a duke and needs a fortune to fix his estate. With a mild attraction, can they overcome their past histories of broken hearts and learn to love again. THis book draws you back into the this world the author has created, and you find lots of lovely banter and funny moments, throughout the story. There are plenty of steamy scenes, and I fell for Lachlan early on, even if he has a strange way of protecting his heart. Although you can read this as a stand alone story to get the full enjoyment it would be best to read the whole series in order. These are well worth reading and it is sad to know there are no more stories planned.

So, I picked up this book expecting a whirlwind romance between a plucky American heiress and a brooding Scottish Duke. I mean, the title promised drama, right? Wrong.

Our heroine, a walking dollar sign with a penchant for pearls, is as brave as a kitten in a cardboard box. The Duke, on the other hand, is a six-foot-tall, Adonis with a heart as deep as a puddle. I kept waiting for the angst, the forbidden love, the secret baby plot twist. Nada.

The plot was as predictable as a sunset. They meet, they bicker, they fall in love. It’s like the author pressed "auto-romance" and went on a vacation. I was hoping for a scandalous secret, a tragic misunderstanding, or at least a decent villain. Instead, we got a love story as exciting as watching paint dry.

If you're looking for a thrilling page-turner, this ain't it. But if you enjoy watching impossibly perfect people fall in love without any real conflict, then dive right in. Just don't expect your heart to race or your mind to be blown.

The last 30 minutes of this book made the slog of the first half much more bearable. I'm not against the smexy time, but this seemed to be a bit over the top....more akin to erotica than HR. I think it's better when the sexual tension is sprinkled in rather than pages and pages of strange almost-insertion teasing.

And Rose. Rose. Rose. Rose. Ugh. I was so tired of hearing about Rose. When she finally showed up, I was thankful for some semblance of plot. I've really enjoyed the Scarlett Scott books I've read, but this one seemed to drag.

unfinished

I kept waiting to see the reaction of the main characters when they got to the castle and the People of the area who were depending on Lachlan. Then what about Madeline and her sister who were so close? It almost seems like the author became tired of writing the story and just quickly ended the story with an epilogue.

There were just too many mentions of the ow for me to believe that the hero genuinely got over her. Also, when the only activity your characters partake in is the devil's tango it becomes very difficult for me to buy it when they start spouting love confessions

Raunchy

It’s all about the sex and very little storyline. Graphic and continual. If that’s what you like, then go for it.

Forever Her Scot is the final book in Scarlett Scott’s Dukes Most Wanted series and it is a great ending to the series.
I’ve been looking for Macfie’s happy ever after ever since he first made an appearance in Lady Wallflower and he didn’t disappoint.
Recently minted as the Duke of Kenross, Lachlan Macfie needs funds to restore his impoverished estate. Miss Madelaine Chartrand seems the perfect choice. Lachlan proposes a marriage in name only for their mutual benefit since he has no intention of developing feelings for his wife and risking his heart again.
An American heiress whose mother is determined to find the highest title for her daughters, Madeline just wants some independence. She has been duped once before and does not want marriage. When Lachlan proposes she immediately says no. But there is something about Lachlan that makes her curious to see where their relationship could lead to. His kisses certainly stir her desires!
Both embarking on a marriage in which they are determined to protect their hearts, Lachlan and Madeline find that they might just have found their soulmate.
This is a fairly uncomplicated and sweet story of two people who marry for practical reasons but find that they are falling hard for each other. Both have had heartbreak in their pasts but realise that they are perfect for each other.
I love Madeline and Macfie. Macfie is a gentle giant of a man who is not at all a rake and it’s sweet and funny to see Madeline put him to the blush with her forthright demands.
There is delicious banter and scorching passion between the two and they complement each other really well. I loved seeing the a glimpse of previous beloved characters. Decker and Macfie’s banter is hilarious as always. The epilogue was lovely and a fitting conclusion to the series.
I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I’m so happy Macfie got the story and lady he deserved. Loved the whole series and sad it had to end but looking forward to Scarlett’s next book!

SUCH A GREAT BOOK! Absolutely addictive!
OMG these two! The chemistry, the banters, the FIRE! It was so much fun to see them fall in love. The story is short, but absolutely addictive! I read it in less than a day. Madeline is a great character, but Lachlan? My new book boyfriend! He is funny, sweet and he really cares for her. It was great to see Derek and Jo, and some other characters from previous books.
The sexual tension is of the chart, and the sexy times ABSOLUTLY PERFECT! They are EXPLOSIVE together. Another great book from an outstanding author. I highly recommend it.

Forever Her Scot adds another jewel in Scarlett Scott’s crown of historical romances. American heiress Madeline Chartrand is lively, animated & outspoken and the charming Lachlan Macfie, the newly appointed Duke of Kenross, sweeps readers off their feet into a whirlwind adventure of love and discovery.

Madeline is lively, animated and outspoken, and Lachlan is noble with his Scottish roots, and his years of sworn celibacy that's probably gathering dust, are a match made in literary heaven. Their tale twirls through a ballet of cultural clashes, sprinkled with laughs and a hearty shake of spice. The author's deft quill animates their zesty rendezvous, guaranteeing that each chapter crackles with fervor and clever quips.

This novel is further evidence of the author's knack for spinning characters so lifelike, they practically leap off the page. The chuckles, the playful jabs, and the palpable spark between Madeline and Lachlan glue you to the book. It’s a tale that celebrates the richness of love, proving that even an ocean cannot dampen the flames of a well-matched duo. Scarlett Scott has whipped up a new romantic masterpiece that's sure to hug your heart and jump over every love obstacle in its path. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

“What do you think of me now?”

“I think…” He paused, considering his words with great care as she nearly unmanned him by tracing the perimeter of his bottom lip with her forefinger.

“I think ye’re dangerous, lassie.”

“Dangerous?” She settled her finger in the dip above his mouth. “In what way?”

“Dangerous to my determination.”

And just like that, an epic house party comes to a close with Forever `
Her Scot, but not before introducing me what has turned out to be one of my favorite Scottish heroes: Mr. Lachlan Mcfie, the freshly crowned Duke of Kinross. Dude is an absolute dream. Strong, protective, honorable and kind, Lachlan has to be the tastiest of cinnamon rolls. I absolutely loved his character. A skittish Scot in need of funds hesitant and unwilling to risk his wounded heart, meets a headstrong, independent, wealthy chit from America. What was supposed to be a marriage of convenience with no strings attached quickly develops into something much more.

Forever Her Scot was such a fun book. Low angst, very little drama, great story. Just a sweet and heartwarming end to a wonderful series. It was truly bittersweet to see this come to an end…but since it did, I’m glad it ended with the biggest cinnamon roll alive…he was positively delicious.
