I would recommend these 2 books!

The first two books in this series have me hooked!
I was looking for something different to read and found that in these Alex Hawkins thrillers!

Sorry, this book is not worth your time. Completely implausible. A couple of stumbling, bumbling air marshals confront multiple "terrorists" that conveniently show up one at a time on a long haul flight with over 300 passengers. No real explanation for who or what the terrorists are. No real explanation for the purpose of the trip or the attack. Not much interesting going on throughout the book. Then, the most implausible, the female air marshal, who has never flown a plane in her life, somehow manages to wind up right over a runway, figure out the controls she has never seen or used, and land the plane. Beyond stupid. At least make the story a little believable. As I said, don't waste your time.

Lone Target is the second book in the Alex Hawkins action series by Vin Strong.

Alex Hawkins is a U.S. Air Marshal whose job is to protect both passengers and plane from terrorists. This flight is headed to the Vienna, where the G7 Summit is being held. Sarah, Alex's on the ground partner, normally finds answers for situations and relays them to Alex. This trip, however, she's on the plane working with Alex as they have a high up VIP on board who is incognito. Even Alex and Sarah, nor their boss, Pay aren't allowed to knows anything about him/her.

Shortly after the flight takes off, the action begins ... and doesn't stop. There is one incident involving Sarah and the plane which is too far fetched to really happen, but I'm not a pilot. This same situation also left a hole in the story in regards to the ground person talking Sarah through the situation.

Now, for "those errors".... The author needs to hire a better proofreader, plain and simple!! Beginning within the first two or three pages, many words ran together, for instance, like 'thesetwo'. There is also one three word run on phrase further in the book. Run on words are one of the easiest errors to catch when proofreading! Also, in one intense scene near the end of Lone Target, one character's name is spelled incorrectly with two Ts instead of two Ns. This should have been an easy catch for a competent proofreader as well. I can't speak for other readers, but when a name used throughout a book is suddenly misspelled, it throws me out of the book.

There are two other words which have very unnecessary punctuation in them. It felt almost as if Vin Strong was afraid the "'Facebook Police' were going to censor or stop him from having this book published.' (Why, unless FB/Zuckerberg ownr. Strong's publisher?) The two words - Christians and Muslims. I know FB hates these two words so people have to change their "spellings" to keep FB from censoring or removing the post. But in a book?

I found this Lone Target book engrossing and gripping. It reads as a 5 Star book, especially as I found it near impossible to put down. However, due to the numerous errors and unnecessary punctuation on two words, I can't justify more than 3 Stars. I do plan to read the rest of the books in this series. I only hope Mr. Strong had a better proofreader on the next several books.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and decided to purchase the next two. In book #2, Lone Target by Vin Strong, the storyline held my attention from the beginning to the end. It's a gripping action thriller with twists and turns along the way. This time, Alex is joined with his partner, Sarah, on this flight as Air Marshalls because an unknown passenger - a government official - had pertinent information that had to be delivered to a summit of world leaders and wanted the extra backup. However, armed religious terrorists on board want the plane to crash. Alex and Sarah have their hands full keeping three hundred plus passengers alive.

The reason for my three star rating is that as a second book in the series, I found the editing to be poor as character names changed and typos existed throughout. I also thought the ending was unbelievable. I'm looking forward to the next book and hope it's in better shape. If you want to look past these errors, the story is still exciting and worth reading.

The first book was so good I jumped right into the 2nd one. Alex, the Air Marshall keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think things are going to go one way something else comes along and throws a curve ball at you! Lots of action! The characters are excellent and down to earth and believable. The author is very well educated and has researched everything, and I have found no grammatical errors while reading! I love the way that Vin Strong puts his stories together! Easy to follow and very life like also. I am going to now jump into the 3rd one "Lone Wolf" ! Highly recommend this book if you like action and stuff that can really happen.

what would happen to them next?

When they thought the problem was taken care of, something else would pop up. The characters were good and added to the story by the way the author used them. The only problem with the story was when Sarah landed the plane, no flying experience, but she landed without any help and couldn’t see the runway. The book is well worth reading. Read and enjoy.

The book was awesome and just as good as the first one. I'm excited for the next one in October. The only thing I wish I could change would be the audiobook sometimes makes some unexpected sounds while the narrator is reading. Sometimes im so invested in the story that the unexpected sounds startle me. It happened on this one and the first book.

Not the hero I expected

Air marshals Alex and Sarah were assigned to the same flight which was weird. On this flight, the CIA had hidden a very important person among the passengers. Sarah and Alex were told to make sure the plane got safely to Vienna.
Sit back and enjoy the adventure. You won’t want to put yourself the book down.

Tense

It had a slow start, but once it got started you couldn't put it down. It reminded me a bit on the TV show 24. The only negative would be the editing it really could use some help; words running together, "Jennifer" that was not the stewardess, etc

Lone Target

Book 1 was really good and worth more stars but this one not so much. It was also quite short.
Im hoping book 3 will raise the standard again.
It is still an okay read with action and excitement.

This started out exciting and then took you through some unbelievable missteps.
There is too much that can't be explained reasonably and the end leaves more questions that I will not find out with #3, I'll pass on this series.

Really enjoyed the book. Room a lot of twists but there were so many typos in the online version it made me mad. Without those would’ve been a 5 star!

Used to a squabble or two on flights, their new

This book was FULL of terrorists. The marshals were almost overpowered. The story caught me from the very beginning.

This was an interesting action thriller with a different take. An air Marshall on a passenger plane dealing with terrorists.

Like the first book straight into the action, little bit like the first but that’s sort of the idea with Alex’s job that it’ll always be based around that point of a hijacking. Does make me want to read the next in the series.
