Aaden Macgregor graduated from UCLA with the hopes and dreams of something greater. Destiny Walters is the control freak of a VP that is every man's dirty desire. Destiny's scent broke Aaden's interview fears and drove him to lay eyes upon a queen utterly out of his fantasies. Aaden decides to seize the day and overcome his social challenges by making a once in a lifetime confession that sparks an adventure unlike any other.

But why would a VP of a international company be interested in a guy full of self doubt? Will this adventure end with each of their wicked desires satisfied or will it turn into the most passionate relationship either has ever experienced?

Being offered the chance to receive an Advanced Review Copy of a book is a HUGE thing. You are one of the lucky ones that get to read a book before its published and “out there” for the rest of the world. That is something that a lot of blogger will BEG for copies of.
With this book, I was lucky enough because Rick contacted me and asked if I wanted to review his book, and of course I couldn’t say no. After reading the synopsis of the book, it seemed as though it was something different than what I have been reading.
This review, I am going to do the way I did another one in the past, what I liked and what I didn’t like. So here we go!!

**SMALL SPOILER ALERT!!!***

Things that I DID like about the book:
I really enjoyed how the book is told from the man’s perspective! Lately it seems with a lot of the books that are being released, it’s always told from the women’s views. Finding a book where the man is the one telling everything was great!
It was completely different to see a man take on the submissive side of a relationship!! Even though they were not in a total BDSM relationship, Aaden is submissive to Destiny in many aspects.
The amount of details that were given when speaking about the different projects. It shows that Rick knows what he is talking about when he describes them.

Things that I DIDN’T like about the book:
The amount of details that are in the book, even though that is a good thing to a degree. There were parts of the story that I skimmed over because I didn’t understand what was being talked about. There is a fine line between too much and too little and this book grabbed that line.
I absolutely didn’t like the part of the book where Aaden is thinking about on the relationship that he has started with Destiny and he makes the comment about how he was raped and he enjoyed it. It might just be the female part in me, but he making jokes about being willingly raped rubbed me the wrong way.

With the good and the bad in this book, it was still an interesting read for me. I would read more from the author in the future.

I was kindly given an ARC of No Second Chances, and all I have to say is Silly Boy won me over!

I didn't think it was possible, but R. J. Greer made it so easy to fall in love with this geeky tech savvy guy. I loved reading Aaden's inner monologue, and at times, I just couldn't stop laughing. I have to admit, all of the tech lingo towards the beginning of the book was a little confusing and initially turned me off, but I'm glad I stuck with it because this book was fantastic!

Destiny Walters, a.k.a. Dez, was by far my favorite character. She comes off as a business oriented bitch, with a side of kinky fetishes, but you can tell there is so much more to her and eventually she reveals a whole other side that I found so unexpected.

The ending...holy shit! Now I am dying for the next book in the Carpe Diem series!

Imagine this: A tawdry threesome results in the conception of a child. The parents: the book “Fifty Shades of Grey”, the movie “The Graduate” and the TV show “Chuck”. The resulting offspring: this book. It’s part romance, part coming of age story, part mystery…and I enjoyed it.

This was a different read for me primarily because it’s from the male perspective, which I both appreciate and find abhorrent. Our hero Aaden is just a dude’s dude being a dude, dutifully. As a result, this book is the fantasy of every 130 pound nerdy, frat boy in the world who dreams that after he graduates from college with a computer degree, he will then manage to land his dream job and kinky dream lady in the same day. As I was reading this, I kept wondering if this is how men really think (and how much they think of their wang). If they do, I seriously need to reassess my 20’s, because that is an entire decade that I have misconstrued the hell out of. In the first chapter alone we are treated to Aaden’s thoughts on “obvious double chins” (doesn’t like ‘em) and “cottage cheese ass” (shockingly—not a fan, as appetizing as he makes it sound), and he mentions his penis at least 63 times. Ok, maybe not 63, but there’s a lot of penis involved. As a woman, I had a difficult time connecting with Aaden as a character, though he was entertaining and engaging…I thought he was jerk.

I will say that this book took me someplace I did not expect when I began it. Aaden is smart, and it serves both him and the reader well as he unravels the mysteries and intrigue of his new place of employment, West Coast Companies, and his love interest, Destiny. Ahhh Destiny…to quote one of my favorite movies, she has “A head for business, and a bod for sin” (bonus if you can name that 80’s flick!).

I should also mention that the sex is HOT. Really hot. Destiny is a, ahem, strong and independent woman. That’s nice to see. So many stories these days follow the alpha male formula and it’s a breath of fresh air to read a book that deviates from that with strong female characters. Destiny takes both Aaden and the reader on a journey of sexual awakening and adventure. She’s naughty…so very, very naughty.

All in all, this was a 3.5 star read for me. The writing, character development, pacing and plot development were all good. The computer jargon was bit too much for me in parts…since my tech skills don’t really go beyond searching Google and pressing “control/alt/delete” if there’s a problem, I was a bit lost. I couldn’t help but feel that while I found this to be an exciting and enjoyable read that as a woman in her mid-thirties, perhaps I am not the target audience for this book. Though don’t let this dissuade you from reading it if it appeals to you…it’s a solid and diverting read!

First of all, I think I gained a new respect for the phrase “Carpe Diem”. I use it frequently, but I absolutely LOVE the fact that the man character, Aaden, made it his motto. Thank God there are still people who say Carpe Diem instead of YOLO. Just...thank you, R.J. Greer, for not being THAT guy.
This book took me out of my comfort zone. I’m a twenty eight year old writer/teacher/mom. Reading a book that is 100% from a male’s mind took me to a place I never expected. Our “Silly Boy” Aaden drew me into my own little bubble. I couldn’t put it down. My husband and son were NOT happy with the fact I made them fend for themselves for one night. After reading it, I realized I may now have a fantasy that may or may not involve a really smart, technologically brilliant, guy “teaching me the ropes”.
I'm not very computer literate, so the techie jargon threw me for a loop. You know what, though? I freaking LOVED every minute of it. There is nothing I enjoy more than reading a book that grabs me up, shakes me around and makes me feel smarter afterwards. Did I say smarter? Good. I mean it. Not only is Aaden smarter than almost everyone I know, but he surprisingly funny, as we find out rather quickly. Quotes like this “She’s cute, but that flabby ass isn’t what I’m looking for. Maybe if she rode me a couple times a day it would firm up”, made me laugh out loud.
No Second Chances is the perfect book for a man to read as well. Aaden finds himself thrown into the middle of every man’s fantasy. Money, sex, power, respect….all of it! If I liked it, I could only imagine how much a man would love getting to know Aaden’s love interest, Destiny. Who wouldn’t? She’s smart, sexy and loves to initiate really HOT sex. It was a nice change to read a book that contained such a strong female character with such a healthy…appetite. As much as I love a man to take charge, Aaden Macgregor opened up doors for an entirely different type of fantasy. Submissive, geeky, yet, sexy? YES, PLEASE!
The writing, character development, and plot were great. It is very obvious that the author is very intelligent when it comes to things I know nothing about. I’m probably not the target audience for this book, seeing as how I know NOTHING about modern technology. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. In my opinion, it was a wonderful, 4 star read!

2.5 stars

First, let me start of by saying that the writing style was good. The flow of the story could be improved upon. I felt that the way events occurred seemed too unrealistic. The main character was going to be hired in as a service tech, but within two days gets promoted to working with the VP of the company when he had no previous work history. Things like that made it hard for me to continue reading. But I wanted to read the book in its entirety so that I was able to write a fair review.

Aaden Macgregor is a tech nerd fresh from college searching for a job. He's going for an interview at WCC. This is where he had his first encounter with Destiny Walters in the elevator.

"Your eyes are captivating, your skin as fine as clouds from heaven, and your curves as breathtaking and extreme as the French Alps."

Aaden gets the job. Then things take a turn and start escalating very fast for him. Along the way he makes some friends and one interesting enemy. You can feel this guy's hatred for Aaden from the beginning. But Aaden discovers a secret that could help him out with this problem. All the while, he's excelling at a rapid speed not only with his career, but also in his personal life.

"Dez, you're my wildest dream come true. I'm not the same to you. I'm who I am because of you. Do you not see the difference?"
"Aaden, I dreamed about you...I can't believe the person you wanted to be was the guy I dreamed up."

We get some very steamy scenes between Aaden and Dez. They have this chemistry that cannot go unnoticed. I only wish that we would have gotten more background story for Dez. She still seems like such a mystery to me.
All in all, this author has great potential. I look forward to reading more stories from R.J. Greer.

**Read as part of Round Table Book Reviews**

I was provided with a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
This is the story of Aaden, a geeky UCLA graduate and Dez a highly sophisticated VP of an international company.
After meeting in an elevator Dez decides that she wants Aaden and he can’t for the life of him figure out why. But he’s not going to look a gift horse in the mouth when every young man’s fantasy is offering him it all.
I struggled a bit with the story to begin with. I love reading books from male POV’s so that wasn’t the issue with this book, I just found it really slow and without any kind of purpose to begin with. Dez gives Aaden a nick name that Aaden just accepts, just like that. I got frustrated for him whenever Dez called him it.
The book got seriously technical in some areas and it went completely over my head in places which kind of let me feeling a bit lost.
The sex scenes in the book were HOT and it is nice to see the female in the dominant role for a change.
Just after half way through the book started to grab my attention and the book took on a whole new outlook. I loved the way the relationship between Aaden and Dez developed.
Dez’s character development was well written. She is emotionally inept, I love the way that R.J Greer has shown this. Aaden’s character development again moved along well. He was a typical college boy that turned into a man and the way this was done didn’t feel rushed.
The book at less than half way through went from normal text to bold text. There was also a paragraph earlier on in the book that was bold for no apparent reason.
As I’ve already said this was a really slow start but once it got going I really got into it and it has left me wanting more.

I was so conflicted with rating this story. I REALLY enjoyed it. But am EXTREMELY pissed off at the ending. Cliff hanger? Try two!!!
Very uncool-lol- With that said. Here's my review:

A surprise of a story and (I believe it will be a series, not positive though) a great start to a new series. High tech, sexy, exciting and in some cases shocking! A highly erotic read that any fans of the genre will enjoy :)

Aaden is at the point in his life that it must go on. No more late night hang outs with the guys, nope. It’s time for him to get a job and make a life for himself. Little does he know what he’s REALLY in for when he gets hired…

Destiny is a mystery. She’s made it to the top by working hard and even a little bit of play. She’s a bit twisted and I’m not 100% sure of the reason why. But I feel she’s had a very hard life. Now she has something, well someone that is like a dream come true in her world. But can she deal with the switch?

These two go through a lot together. Many firsts and I believe many lasts. I really enjoyed how they “power exchanged” in their bedroom play. It’s very different and fun to read.

Overall I found the story pretty unbelievable and continued to read only to see how things would play out. I was left with a cliffhanger and no date for a sequel.

Aaden Macgregor lands this fantastic job after an interview with Destiny Walters. Considering the modern setting, I'm surprised Destiny still has a job because she is an HR nightmare. She has lots of issues and Aeden seems to be a good fit for her in most aspects of her life.

The title is a combination of Aaden's and Destiny's philosophies of life. Aaden pursues what he wants with a carpe diem (seize the day) attitude while Destiny offers no second chances. The story is told from Aaeden's POV. He's very young and will talk about banging this hot chick and then referring to Destiny as a goddess. The whole story left me scratching my head. It was just not for me.

This book had me laughing out loud in certain areas and blushing in others. Mainly because the main character is a guy and the way he describes erotic scenes made me think "oh wow!" It was written by a man so I guess all guys really do think this way. I love how the main character was geeky and I wish that he would have stayed that way throughout the book. There are some very hot scenes and I liked that the main female was a bossy bi-atch who knows what she wants, when she wants it, and how! There was a lot of boring computer/techy stuff that didn't interest me, probably because it’s just too technical for me. For the first half of the book, it was mainly boring work stuff and hot sex. I didn't really get an emotional attachment to the characters till the second half. The book did have some very creative innovations and I hope there will be a second book because this one didn't have an ending. Over all, it was a good story line with a hint of mystery and quite a few erotic scenes.

I gave this book a 3 star rating because , I really couldn’t get into the plot of the story . It did have some steamy parts ,but, I just felt like it was something that couldn’t happen in real life. I liked the fact that it was in a guy’s point of view though. I didn’t find many grammer issues with this book either. It was just not my type of plot , I couldn’t get into it at all. I am sorry , I don’t want to bash the author in any way , I will read more of this authors stuff. I think if I was a guy I would have liked it more. A lot of people would probably love this book.
