When 13 year old Cordell Beckett saw his family slaughtered and farm burned by a ruthless gang he swore to get justice or maybe revenge. He was taken in by a friend who taught him about firearms and hand to hand combat. His mentor said he was faster with a sidearm than anybody he had ever seen. After several years he started on the trail to find those responsible. It would be a long trail. He joined a teamster's outfit as a hunter going in his direction. He was always way out in front getting meat for the teamsters. On the way he met an indian maiden that was escaping from the Kiowa that had her as a slave. She had been captured by another tribe and traded to the Kiowa. Yellow Sinong Bird was going west to get back to her Ute tribe in the west. Along the way Cord and Bird became fast friends and traveled together. There is a lot of action and situations that make it hard to put the book down. I found it to be a very enjoyable book to read. It kind of leaves things open for the start of another book which I am looking forward to if it comes out.

Looks like the beginning of a new series. Cord and Bird make a great traveling couple and it’s good to see both complement the other while still keeping their respective individuality. It’s apparent that their is a budding romance occurring but since both come from different cultures and yet have similar backgrounds, they are building the trust, spirituality and love any new relationship must have for longevity.
Another book that draws you in from the beginning and holds you fast until the very end. You are an exceptional writer. I have loved all your books. Packed with action, suspense, happiness, sadness, bravery, etc. I am waiting for your next book in the series. I also love the wholesomeness and Christian values.
Always look for B.N Russell books. Love his stories and this book is one that I really enjoyed. Cord was left an orphan when his home was attacked by renegades. At 19 years old he left the home of the family that taken him in to find the men who had killed his family.
While it is nicely written it seemed to meander too much so the action fell off I felt there was no resolution to the basic challenge that aced the protagonist as a boy. I liked the woman who appears confident and strong the descriptions of the west were good. I guess there lacked peak moments. A large bear emerges in a threatening way, but it walks off.
Great Western -- A Journey from Missouri to Colorado
The book brings together a hardy young man and a Ute woman. They seek her family and justice for the slain family of the youngster. Lots of quiet friendship, slow growing love, and realistic adventure. More quotes from the bible than I care for, but great description s of the land and wildlife. Well worth reading!
Another great series from B. N. Rundell. As always a great read. I enjoy all the books he writes. I look forward to the next book in The Quest Chronicles. Thank you B. N. Rundell for these wonderful books.
A GREAT wESTERN SAGA OF A BOY WHO LOSES HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND HOME TO RUTHLESS OUTLAWS, AND HOW HE GOES ABOUT FINDING AND ELIMINATING THEM ONE AT A TIME. The story line and characters are unforgettable .. a book that deserves your attention.
Really a darn good story. Something like a saga, the travels of Cord Beckett. Dont understand why he did not check the other stagecoach outlaws out like he did the leader Poole. And let 1 get away.
Great book, started out pretty slow but grew with each chapter. Really turned out to be a good read. Looks like the second book of the series will really start the journey in a new way. Looking forward to see just what happens next.
The lace of any foul language or sex was a blessing, I will tell all of my friends to follow this author, he like John Danish blew in writing books that the whole family can enjoy. Thanks God for good Christian writers.
The author is extremely good in describing the characters and the countryside. The story pulls you in, and you feel like you are there with them. It's a very good read.
The detail of the sites, sounds and smells of the old west come alive. Not the shoot'em up bang bang story's, but more of the true west. Looking forward to book 2..
The preachers boy has to find his way back to God after some pretty tragic circumstances. He meets many people, helps most, kills some, and looks for justice but needs peace. Highly recommended for all readers.
it is a Good reading book. Worth one’s time and to enjoy.
This book is well written and has a lot to offer. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading. Written with some values of the Bible as well. The descriptions of the territory, mountains and valleys are very interesting.
One thing that Mr. Rundell’s books remind me of is how tough life was, especially in the West back in the mid to late 1800’s. This is another exciting book about a person of God who lost it all and is searching for answers from God. Great read. Big D
This is about the Lewis and Clark expedition, with a western theme and a hundred years later. This first book of the series did not hold up to western type adventure.
As a young teenager, renegade Red Legs murdered Cordell Beckett's family and burned down their farm. Three years later, Cord is fully grown and ready for vengeance. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord. Maybe Cord is just the conduit.
I found the story engaging and informative. The characters are well developed. The historical aspect well researched. I highly recommend author B.N. Rundell.
Have enjoyed book one and I'm looking forward to starting on book two. As the other two series I've read by Pastor Rundell this series will keep you excited.
