Charlotte Templeton has lived a comfortable and safe life for the past twenty-five years as the manager of a women's pro shop on a prestigious golf course outside of Boston. She loves her job and her home, a small cottage on the grounds of the course. Although no stranger to tragedy and loss, Charlotte is devastated to learn that her near-perfect world is coming to an end as the golf course comes under new management. Duncan Kirk, reeling from the wreckage of a personal disaster, finds himself in a place he thought he would never return--his hometown of Lobster Claw, Maine. Charlotte’s and Duncan’s worlds converge during a violent nor’easter, and from that point, their lives are never the same; Charlotte questions if this little coastal town was the right move for her, and Duncan feels that his life is coming apart, and wonders if Lobster Claw will be able to put it back together? The collision of their worlds sets the stage for Charlotte and Duncan to fulfill promises and dreams and create an unexpected future.

Oh, there's so much to love in Beach Rose Path! I adored it!

I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romances, but this novel won me over immediately. The sensational summery descriptions of Maine and vibrant beach vibes give Barbara Matteson's book such a strong sense of place. Since the days have been cool and rainy here in New Hampshire, I was instantly transported to my favorite summer atmosphere.

Beach Rose Path also included a small mystery, which I thought enhanced the entire reading experience in the best way. I loved the learning more about each character and, of course, I was totally smitten with Hamish, the Scottish father-like figure to Charlotte.

If you're looking for a light and absolutely lovely summer read (or a way to bring back the best of summer during the bleak winter months), I highly recommend this utterly charming book! You may actually start to feel sand in between your toes, hear seagulls squawking and the briny scent of the ocean as you read along.

A definite re-read for me. I miss Char, Little Lovey, Tatiana, Duncan and Hamish already! I'm planning to purchase Barbara's first book, The Perfect Mrs. Claus, ASAP to read in December. Yay!

I'm so glad that Barbara Matteson lives in the New England area and I'm crossing my fingers that I can meet her in person one day. Really hoping she writes another book!

What a charming book! I had such a lovely time reading Barbara Matteson’s book, Beach Rose Path.

Charlotte Templeton has spent the last 25 years as the manager of a woman’s pro shop at a prestigious golf course near Boston. She lives in an adorable cottage on the grounds, but when her boss, Hamish, tells her the golf course is coming under new management she decides to pick up and move to Lobster Claw, Maine. When one door closes, another one opens…

This book made me gasp, tear up, and smile, a lot. I think fellow fans of Marcia Willett’s writing will love Beach Rose Path. There are similar themes of grief, found family, starting again later in life, the healing power of nature, and like Marcia Willett’s books, this one has lots of puppy content. As a person who believes a house isn’t a home without a dog in it, I do love a book with dogs.

This is the quintessential gentle read. While bad things do happen to these characters, overall this is such a positive book. The characters are good people that you can’t help but root for. I really appreciated that there were no unnecessary arguments or misunderstanding created by characters being pigheaded, narrow-minded, or just refusing to listen to each other, as you so often see in books in this genre as a way of adding drama.

The other thing that I loved about this book is that the relationships, both romantic and platonic, feel real and grow naturally. Even the love at first sight element feels more believable because the attraction happens between two genuinely good people, making it feel like it isn’t just the external that the two are falling in love with but also the personality that each person is putting out into the world.

But don’t you worry, there is also a character that you will love to hate. She is so well described that she is only needed in small doses, and thank goodness that is all we get of her!

The other thing I really liked is the relationship between Charlotte and her boss Hamish. They are about twenty years apart and Charlotte looks on Hamish as a father figure and Hamish truly treats Charlotte like a daughter. It’s lovely.

The book starts seven weeks before Memorial Day and ends on Labour Day weekend, making this book the perfect summer read. There are lovely descriptions of the sea from Charlotte’s seaside cottage, so it would be the ideal book to take to the beach!

Charlotte Templeton created the Loch Ladies' Pro Shop at the Castle Loch Country and Golf Club, working for General Manager Hamish Falconer. When Hamish hired Charlotte, the club became not merely a workplace but a benefit, a cottage on the green, and during the 25 years, Hamish was a blend of the employer, father figure, treasured friend, mentor, and confidant. New club management has Hamish retiring to his beloved Scotland, but he has made a connection for Charlotte to his friend Rory Ruskin. Rory has a place that needs someone to live and run the shop that he and his wife had run until she passed. The offer is open to Charlotte to create a new beginning. How does she start over without Hamish? How does she leave the cottage where the most precious memories of her life were made and kept her grounded after their loss? What would her new life become?

The allure of this book extends beyond its potential as a delightful summer romance. The author's beautiful writing creates a world that is both enchanting and familiar to all who choose beach vacations and may invite possibilities for all who have never been. Her debut Christmas novel was evidence of her storytelling finesse in creating a magical reading experience, leaving me eagerly anticipating her next literary delight. This tale of new beginnings in a beach town setting and a promise of romance delivers summertime magic.

The author's descriptive writing paints vivid and inviting scenes with each turn of the page, inviting the reader to step into the narrative. Whether it is Charlotte's first impressions as she drives into the saltwater town of Lobster Claw, Maine, her new home and workplace on Beach Rose Path, the names of the roads and businesses, the vibrant colors of the sunsets or the sea, the evocative smells and sounds, or her mix of emotions leaving Massachusetts or a combination of excitement and nervousness for the grand opening of The Shop at Beach Rose Path, the picturesque images come to life, engaging all the reader's senses and immersing them in the story.

I highly recommend adding this novel to your summer reading list.

I can't wait to experience the author's forthcoming novels for introduction to her next charming settings and characters you wish you could meet.

OVERALL STAR RATING: 4/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5

Another great book from author Barbara Matteson. I love that Barbara is committed to writing stories that represent those of us who are of a more mature age…middle-aged+ if you will. Life and love are still very much prevalent in your fifties and that’s what these characters in Beach Rose Path bring to the table. Sure, they sometimes come with a complicated past, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a path forward to happiness and starting fresh with something new. It’s quite inspiring to read.

Charlotte Templeton’s life has been turned upside down when her fiancé is killed in a tragic car accident. A couple of years later, the job she’s known and loved at a golf club is being sold because the general manager is moving back to his hometown of Scotland. Charlotte is being forced out, but when an opportunity arises for her to jumpstart a new life in the little seaside town of Lobster Claw, Maine – she decides to throw caution to the wind and see where the tides take her.

A new career, new friends, and new love await Charlotte. Barbara does a gorgeous job with her writing – you are truly going to feel as though you’re a part of this beach town. You’ll feel and smell the sea spray as you read her descriptive paragraphs. Although this book comes with stories of past tragedy and heartache, there is something incredibly peaceful about her writing style.

Two uses of the word d*mn. Please note that there are also topics of death, infidelity and deception.

I have met this author personally, and Barbara is an amazing, compassionate, and loyal person. I read her first book, Santa Claus, and it was wonderful. Then I read her second book, Beach Roses Path, which reminded me of Martha's Vineyard, where I go on vacation. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

Sweet Love Story

Good storyline. Very Hallmark style. There were a few errors. At one point, Violet and Hannah's names were switched, which was super confusing. But the overall storyline was a hopeful, second chance, mature-age, clean romance. Infidelity is mentioned, and there are a couple of swear words by Duncan and Hamich.
