Field of Destiny

Rate this book
Every choice comes with a consequence. And every consequence leads us closer to — or farther away from — our desired destiny. On a sweltering July afternoon, a baby girl is born. She comes into this new life with a plan, her soul determined to make amends for past actions, to be a better person and, ultimately, experience love and acceptance.

And then the unthinkable happens. The unwed teenage mother names her baby — Natalie Marie — setting into motion a series of actions that derail the child’s destiny, thrusting her into an unplanned life of secrets, lies and betrayal.

Natalie doesn’t realize her destiny has been altered. But she knows something is wrong. Feeling out of place in her own life, she’s willing to do almost anything for a sense of belonging. Her decisions are often reckless, defying the “sacred contracts” her soul made before birth, and
mirroring destructive patterns from her past life in France. Fate steps in, offering Natalie a chance to reclaim her original destiny. But it means making hard choices. And living with the consequences. Can she do it?

Set in New England against a backdrop of social and racial tension, Field of Destiny explores the spiritual themes of karma and free will, taking us to those precise moments of choice where a single decision has the power to change everything.

Amazing book! So many plot twists I lost count. I couldn’t put it down and finished in 3 days

It's not the metaphysical/reincarnation aspect to this novel that bothered me. Actually, I have no problem suspending rational disbelief to entertain and embrace the concepts Ms. Sheehy presents in this book. The problem I DID have with it was how poorly it was written. Numerous typographical and grammatical errors, syntax problems, and other glaring mistakes made me wonder if anyone ever proofread this book before its publication? Sorry, no matter how interesting a story may be, those kind of mistakes detract greatly from the overall readability of a book.

There are other problems with this novel as well. The dialogue between characters doesn't "sound" authentic most noticably in the case of protagonist Natalie and her "hippie" friend Annie. Actually, I found most of the dialogue between all the characters stilted and inauthentic.

Nice concept for those who often find themselves questioning if there is more to life than that which we experience here on the earthly plain. It's a readable book if you can get past the jarring errors in proofing...it's just not, in my opinion, a particularly well written book.

This is one of the best books I've read, filled with suspense and characters that stay with you long after the book is done. I hated to see it end. Patricia Sheehy is a master storyteller and my new favorite author. With it's metaphysical themes, this novel helps you see how we all face issues of karma and destiny in our own lives and begin the realize the consequence of our choices. I cheered and cried for Natalie. This is definitely a page-turner.

This was an amazing read!!! Loved everything about it but wont go into detail because I might ruin it for someone wanting to read it. The only thing I'll say is this story really made me think of my own life choices.

I will definitely read more book from her. She's one of my favorite authors now.

I RECOMMEND READING FIELD OF DESTINY.
