Devil of Dublin #2

The Devil Himself

Rate this book
Growing up, I spent every night tucked under my mother’s arm, dreamily listening to tales from her favorite book series—Legend Has It by Darby Donovan, a collection of spooky folklore about a town called Glenshire and the lonely, gray-eyed fairy prince who haunted the woods there. I knew they were just stories, but when my mother died and left me in the care of my cold, abusive father, that fictional fairy prince suddenly became very, very real to me. It was as if he was always there, hiding in the shadows, offering me his silent comfort. I turned him into an imaginary friend when I needed one most.

And thirteen years later, I’m doing it again.

When my coastal Irish town is bombed by the new Russian president, a Bratva leader seeking revenge on the United Irish Brotherhood, those missiles destroy everything I’ve ever known—my home, my family, and evidently my sanity—because when I pull an injured Russian Navy officer out of the sea, a man who led the charge against my town, I can’t bring myself to let him die.

Secluded together in my secret hiding spot, we’re safe from the Mafia war raging outside, but the overwhelming connection I feel to this stranger is a battle I fight every single day. I hate him with everything that I am, but when he looks at me with those smoky gray eyes, all I see is my friend. When he touches me, all I feel is desire. And when he wraps his lips around the sustenance I offer him, all I want is to feel them pressed against mine, loving me, putting me back together.

But no one can live in a fantasy world forever, and when reality finally finds us, the truth about him is worse than anything I could have imagined.

The man I rescued is no fairy prince.

He’s the goddamn Devil himself.

BB Easton is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, the hilarious, steamy, tell-all memoir that inspired the Netflix Original Series, SEX/LIFE. Within the first month, SEX/LIFE was viewed by 67 million households worldwide, making it the 3rd Most-Watched Netflix Original Series of all time.

BB was a stressed-out school psychologist and mother of two when the inspiration to write 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN struck. Through that process, she rediscovered her passion for writing, became dangerously sleep-deprived, and finally mustered enough courage to quit her job and become a full-time author.

BB went on to publish four more wickedly funny, shockingly steamy, and heartwarmingly autobiographical books in the 44 CHAPTERS series: SKIN, SPEED, STAR, and SUIT. Since then, she's been hard at work writing fictional stories that appeal to her love for us-against-the-world romance, including a dystopian trilogy (PRAYING FOR RAIN), a psychologist-client romantic comedy (GROUP THERAPY), and a dark mafia romance (DEVIL OF DUBLIN).

'𝐓H𝐄 𝐃E𝐕I𝐋 𝐇I𝐌S𝐄L𝐅' Is the second full length romance book within the (Devil of Dublin) series by author B.B. Easton. Spoken in dual POV's. (Damien & Clover)

Tropes:
☘️ Touch her and die
☘️ Enemies to lovers
☘️ Forced proximity
☘️ Mafia war

The drama, the angst, the romance, where magical star crossed lovers collide, to survive in war torn Ireland they had to fix the past.

Clovers small Irish community and the rest of Dublin was under threat as it was being overtaken by Russian invaders as they bombed and overtook the land. She saves a Russian Navy Officer named Damien when she pulls him into the cave she was hiding out in as the relentless bombing and carnage was taking place outside of their safe haven. Despite her fear and hate for the enemy she's harbouring she can't help but feel herself drawn to him as they both fight to stay alive and out of the clutches of the Russians.

Many twists and turns and Irish folklore truly made for an unputdownable thrilling read.

This was one of my most highly anticipated books to be released this month, so I was beyond excited once it landed on my iPad, diving in straight away, to say I was hooked as soon as I started this was an understatement, the rush of terror as I feared for these two characters lives kept me glued to the pages inhaling every word as though my life depended on it.

Now I know why nobody touched this book since it's release besides the ARC readers who gave it glowing reviews. This is a sequel to Devil of Dublin which was a DNF for me. I remember the first book got so much hype on Bookstagram and Booktube and literal crickets on this sequel. The author said this sequel can't be read as a standalone and being the chaotic reader that I am, I ignored that. This wasn't bad but it's not for me. I generally don't like apocalyptic war themed stories and I knew going in this would be dark but didn't realize how dark and ridiculous. The story opens up with Ireland getting bombed and invaded by Russia as retaliation for a mafia war that happened 20 years prior between the United Irish Brotherhood and the Bratva. A whole war over an old mafia vendetta where bombs are dropped on unsuspecting civilians and Irish cities and drones shooting down people and girls and elderly taken hostage and raped and brutalized gleefully by Russian soldiers. It was just a little too much and triggering where the violence and gore seemed heavily focused on for no reason. Not the kind of escapism I was looking for.

And the author makes her heroine Clover Doyle do some very questionable stunts in this book where her naivete veers straight into TSTL. Clover honestly was dumb as a box of rocks in her insistence on some things that made no sense. Why would you go off on your own and knock on doors of your evacuated city? Does she get captured by soldiers? Yup. Does she nearly get gang raped and unalived again? YOU BET. Does she risk her life yet again by sneaking off later on and taking a train back to war torn Dublin by herself with armed soldiers and drones at every station swarming the city? Yea-huh. There's a distinct difference between brave and stupid. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe her. I hate when characters are dumbed down just to put them in dire situations of gruesome violence/assault with no help in sight. Awful shit happens all the time in real life. Do I want to read about it? No. Does it elevate this story? Also no. Neither did it make any sense for the heroine to dig her heels in refusing to leave their war-torn country just so she can . Listen Nancy Drew, y'all got unalived so many times running for your life with no clothes or shoes or money with literal soldiers after you and now you want to say in a deserted town being invaded? No common sense. The TSTL ran deep in this book with characters lacking agency at the most bizarre times no less. Facing 25 drones armed with rifles about to shoot you down on a rooftop and ya'll just run into a helicopter to have sex instead while bullets are literally flying? WUT? O_o This was the final climactic showdown/face off with the villain that readers were waiting for but instead it's bow chicka wow wow time? Really? Bizarre as fuck. And I still would like to know how the hero Damien who nearly bled out from 2 separate gunshot wounds just magically heals from those grave wounds with nothing but some whisky and bandages applied to him? The hero is also a virgin but no mention of that whatsoever whenever these two have sex. B.B. Easton creates this huge political atmosphere and war torn landscape but her attention to details and word building is near nonexistent in times that is drastically needed. So yeah, I tried but this author isn't for me.

I feel like there's almost nothing I can say that won't spoil the story of The Devil Himself, so I'm going to try and keep this one simple, but hopefully impactful. But I highly suggest that after you inevitably finish devouring Devil of Dublin, you rush into The Devil Himself completely blind with an open heart ...

As soon as I finished the last page of this book, I felt like I was staggering out of a dark and dank alcove off the coastal Irish cliffside into the light. If you think you know where BB is going to take these characters and their story when you start, let me tell you that you have no idea. I'm going to most lovingly accuse Ms. Easton of using her psychology background again to the fullest extent with the way that she adeptly kept my heart in my throat, and tears in my eyes page after page of this journey. And make no mistake, The Devil Himself IS a journey and the sorrow and worry and bittersweet hope that comes along the way make it a perfectly unforgettable one. The story is a bewitching fairytale full of monsters of the corrupt organized crime variety, with deeply broken protagonists that fight like hell to claw their way to a heartachingly extraordinary fate. The Devil Himself is high intensity, high action, and breathtaking emotion through and through, and it will leave an indelible mark on your heart.

Epic, unbounded stars for BB Easton's The Devil Himself.

Some books should stay without a sequel, especially one with a plot like this.... I went into it blindly without knowing anything about the book, and I was unpleasantly surprised ... added "bonus" is a story inspired by Romeo and Juliette... and I absolutely dispese those two brats. Nothing about that story is appealing to me ... sooooo, here we are ....

ARC REVIEW

😦😦😦
I was crying after reading chapter 1. Speechless - didn’t know where this was going and why my heart was getting ripped out right off the bat.

I trusted that my heart would be mended and it was 🥲 what a roller coaster! I loved the action, the spice, the emotions. Ugh just so so so good.

This cannot be read without reading the Devil of Dublin first! Devil of Dublin was one of my top reads last year!! And this book is definitely one of my top reads this year.

I’ll be thinking about this one for a while 🙌🏼

*ARC Review*

Everything I say is my own opinion and I’m so so so grateful to have been given the opportunity to ARC read The Devil Himself 💚

I knew this book was going to wreck me from the first chapter 😭😭 I had to take a sobbing break after, no spoilers but iykyk.

I loved every second of this gloriously heartbreaking but heartwarming book. Every single second. BB Easton takes you on such an emotional ride but somehow makes you feel like you are there. I don’t know if she’s been to the cliffs but her words and descriptions were so detailed I could see every scene in my mind.

Prepare yourself with some tissues (maybe a box or two) and to feel things you haven’t in a while. It’s intense action, high paced story, and deep emotions will leave you wanting more and more.

Thank you so much BB Easton for writing this story and making us fall in love with characters that I didn’t even think was possible 🍀

It’s a magnificent masterpiece!! Completely blown away!!

“I wanted to heal everything that hurt. Worship every place they’d wounded. It wasn’t sexual. It was … sacrificial—my heart in exchange for her happiness.”

I finished this book two days ago and I’m still trying to process what I just listened to. First, I have to praise the audible because of how incredible it was. I was lucky enough to get the Audible Arc and normally I prefer reading the e-book, but listening to this story come to life in such an incredible way, made this story even better. The voice actors are phenomenal and truly make you feel like you are there. Like You are the one experiencing everything. The voice actor who does Kellan and Damian’s voice, I think I passed out the first time I heard it 😂 I’ll never get that voice out of my head. And will forever be haunted by the drone’s voice haha! And the voice actor for Clover, was just extraordinaire. I felt like she was my best friend and I wanted to hug her through out the book.

These books are BB’s masterpiece. She is such a fantastic storyteller and what she created is truly magnificent. These are dark stories. Filled with trauma and pain. But beneath all of that, are characters who are trying to find love and end up finding it in someone that was rooted in fate. We are back in Ireland and in this book, it is a whole different world than what we left in the first book. Clover is a young girl who finds herself trapped with a Russian soldier. Not knowing how much of a connection they have. They are truly better together than apart because together they are unstoppable.

I really feel like you need to go into these books with as little information as possible to truly experience them because that’s what this is, this is an experience. Kellan and Darby, Clover and Damian will take you on the biggest journey of your life. You will cry, you will feel anger and pain, but this love story, their love story, will stand the test of time. I am in awe of you BB Easton. The Devil Himself is officially OUT NOW!! And! The Devil of Dublin is on sale for $.99! Go read them now! “Out where the bluebells grow high as your knee, and the clover and moss blanket every tree, lies a ring made of stone where no fairies dare tread. That’s where you’ll find him, the ghost of the glen.”

Welcome back to Ireland where old legends and mythical creatures await. This author opens the door to a new adventure, her unconventional and unique style is always a pleasant surprise. Her ability to weave tales and present the reader with the unexpected is a guaranteed success. I never know what I’ll get myself into but I know I can trust Ms Easton to take me on a memorable journey.

The setting for this story sees Ireland under attack, the people, the history and the lives of its inhabitants are all at risk of being annihilated. As it always happens the innocent pay the price for the greed and corruption of the few who believe they have a right to rule and dominate. Amidst this threat, where one would never think love could grow, two young people Clover and Damien meet. Their chemistry and instant connection hides more than a simple meeting of soul mates.

As they fight for survival the enemy tries hard to destroy them, the lies buried beneath the walls protecting their hearts put them in danger. They will need to navigate rough waters, trust what they cannot see but only feel. Accept that sometimes the truth doesn’t bring freedom but a harrowing reality. And even what is real sometimes can seem an illusion.

I would recommend to dive into this beautiful tale blind, just make sure you read 𝕯𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖑 𝖔𝖋 𝕯𝖚𝖇𝖑𝖎𝖓 before this. Although book one doesn’t end on a cliffhanger it has to be read before. If you have already read book one, then don’t miss out on this tale.

The story is told in dual POV and the author takes us on a journey through the lands of Ireland, where castles, beautiful landscapes, mysterious lakes frame this story flavoured with a post apocalyptic vibe. I loved how the background seeped into the plot and became part of it, the vivid descriptions were beautifully matched to the feelings of the characters. Their pain and turmoil so vivid and raw I could feel it in my bones. A love so real and so powerful it could persuade the most staunch non believers.

Thank you Ms Easton for giving us another chance to visit this amazing world, to experience such powerful moments and ease the pain with a breathtaking backdrop.

Grab your tissues because you’ll need them starting on chapter one. I know I did.

“The Devil of Dublin was back.”

This is a story filled with angst, heartache, a war zone, loss, soulmates, Irish folklore, star-crossed lovers, reincarnated lovers.

This is the story of Damien and Clover.
Damien, born Irish, was kidnapped as a boy and taken to Russia by his own dad and forced to fight for the Russian army. His father has a vendetta against Ireland and will use his son as a pawn.
Clover has always felt alone. With a deadbeat family, and living on the coast of Ireland, she’s the first to witness when Russia hits Ireland with heavy artillery.
It’s a war zone. And a fight to survive.
When these two find eachother, it’s an immediate feeling of knowing one another. It’s heartbreaking and a live wire for a delicate romance. Memories that aren’t theirs erupt in their minds. It’s pain and longing for eachother when they just met. They don’t understand this connection to one another. But they know they just stick together during this war zone.

While fighting for eachother, they realize they must end the cycle of death and destruction from their previous life. Right a wrong. End the war.

The Devil of Dublin is back and he’s here to stay.
Yes to an HEA. It’s a hard earned loved story and I’m completely obsessed with the magic of this story. Truly well written and will be on my mind for a long time.

An unnecessary sequel. Should’ve just ended with the first book which I five starred and loved. This one was a lot darker. Basically a war story with a lot of violence.

About 100 pages longer too with so much over description and purple prose. The author says at the end she struggled to write this story over 15 months and it shows. Nothing really makes sense as they hop from city to city. Why were the trains still running when the Russian mafia had invaded?

The main couple is a reincarnated version of Darby and Kellen from the first book. The author doesn’t tell us that until about halfway through although it explains the instalove. But the weird thing was they felt like different characters. There’s also a lot more smut that felt really hollow.

The last 100 pages made no sense at all.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Pack your bags because we are heading back to Dublin!!!
With how the Devil of Dublin ended, things should be all sunshine and roses, right?
Or with the darker nature of the first book, could it be far from that?
Given that a good portion of this book features the casualties of war, I think you figure out the answers to the questions above.

While Darby Donovan and her husband are featured, the bulk of this story centers on a young girl named Clover Doyle and a Russian soldier named Damien. Their relationship is complicated.
Are they enemies?
Star crossed lovers?
Saviors?
All of the above?
I felt like I had whiplash with how much their relationship changes throughout the book, particularly from Clover's perspective.
Summary of her POV:
I need to save him.
I hate him.
I lust for him.
I love him.
I hate him.

You get the idea.

This book does tie up some loose threads from book one and explains how Clover's story connects to Darby's (keep an open mind on this one).

The path to a HEA in this book isn't a traditional one, but I ultimately liked how things played out for all.

B.B. Frickin Easton! WTF did you do to me?! 5 stars. Enough said.

This man wasn't my salvation. My glimmer of sunshine in the midst of a storm. He was the goddamn lightning.

The Devil Himself swept me up right from the start. That first chapter?! How could you?!! My heart and soul were shattered and I felt like I couldn't breathe. Did that really happen? But then the story that follows will capture you. The pain. The beauty. The love. The hate. The fierce connections. The history. The darkness. Everything played out so vividly and had me pulled in. I was literally on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and felt my heart beating out of my chest. Check your triggers, because there are some brutal moments that transpire and they are anything but easy. But the story within it all is a frickin masterpiece!

I won't say much about the story because I don't want to spoil one thing. Just know that you MUST read the Devil of Dublin before this one. Trust me. If you loved Darby and Kellen, I have a feeling you will be feral for Clover and Damien. Go in blind and experience the epic journey it takes you on. If I have to say one thing about this book, expect the unexpected. Open your mind to fate, magic and folklore. This one will mess with you right from the start and believe me, you won't want it any other way.

“Clover was my first taste of heaven after five long years of hell, and no amount of guilt could have pulled me away”.

I read The Devil Himself a week ago and I’m still reeling over it! 😩

Damien and Clover's story is an epic one of love and loss. It's a heartbreaking tale, but it's also full of love, bravery, and drive.

The Devil Himself is a continuation of The Devil of Dublin and should not be read on their own. The way the two storylines come together is intriguing and well-done! Easton writes these unexpected twists and turns so well that I found it difficult to put the book down. It was unlike anything I'd read before.

As the reader, you will have experienced so much after the first chapter, and that’s only the beginning! Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster ride and a truly unforgettable journey!

What to expect:
👥Soulmates
☠️Touch her and die
☘️Irish folklore
🔫Mafia war
💞Forced proximity
🗣️Dual POV
👫Romeo & Juliet vibes
👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨Star-crossed lovers

What did you do to meeeeee? The first chapter had me gasping and as the tale started to unwind I found myself completely entranced. I fell in love with Damien and Clover the second I met them and their story had me laughing and crying and feeling pain right along with them.
This was a WILD ride and there are a lot of triggers so make sure you check them before reading, but I urge you to go in blind. I only knew that this was a follow up to the Devil of Dublin and I had no idea what to expect, but I got so much more than I was expecting. I don't want to say too much in this review, but even with all its jagged edges, this story was beautiful. It was incredible. I won't ever be the same.

***4 "Remember me!!!" stars***

"You jump, I jump."

The Devil of Dublin is back, but nothing you will think about him will be accurate!
The second book in the series is starting with pain and so much loss...
The atmosphere is completely different than before, but at the same time, so familiar!
Clover and Damien are two people that became a part of something bigger than them! And together they have to fight and survive for a chance to a better future!

"I was home, but I was homeless.
I was alive, but I had nothing to live for.
I was healing, but I was so fucking broken."

Clover wasn't living an ideal life but this life was all she knew, until they started to bombard her town and kill her people...
Now, Clover is fighting for her life and she is hiding inside a cave to survive.
Alongside her a stranger whom she saved from a certain death.... the enemy.... a man who is on the oppossite side, but who makes her feel so much!

"He was the enemy. He’d destroyed my town. He’d killed my family. And I was officially out of my goddamn mind."

Damien's life changed 5 years ago.
Now, he is being forced to lead the attack that will ruin his country and his people.
He is standing between two sides unable to choose.
Treason will lead him to death, but also will lead him to his destiny...
The girl of his dream is becoming a reality and how will he survive this madness that his life has become?

"I didn’t know if I would survive the jump, and honestly, I didn’t care. Dead or alive, I was finally coming home."

Clover and Damien are about to live a crazy, intense and devastating adventure!
Their love is one of the kind and the magical level will make it eternal!
This story was full of war, until the devil himself showed up and turned everything upside down.

"Touching her might have felt like a war, but some wars were worth fighting."

In a magical place like Ireland full of legends and myths, it is impossible to not see the magic in the lakes, the tall trees and the ruins of old cottages!
The spirits of the forest will lead you where you were always meant to be, even though its path is very dangerous and full of bumps!
Damien and Clover were destined to be together, but they had a long road ahead of them!

"Without him, I would have died a thousand deaths already. Without him, I would have welcomed them all."

I loved Clover and Damien, as much as I had loved Darby and Kellen in the first book!
These kids had faced too many demons to find love and they deserved the world!
So if you will decide to read "The Devil himself" it is a must to read the "Devil of Dublin" before!
You will understand why then! Trust me!

"You can’t lose me... We’re forever, remember?"

When I tell you that this book far exceeded my expectations, believe me. This book is the perfect sequel, the perfect continuation of Darby and Kellen's story, and the perfect beginning to Clover and Damien's story. I fell in love with this book and the characters within it almost immediately. Every character felt real with real flaws and real imperfections and the love flowing through this book felt so real. BB's writing is so descriptive of where everything is, where everything takes place and it's not hard to feel yourself pulled into Ireland like you're there with the characters. This book will tear at your heartstrings, in a good way.

A bit about it(spoiler-free, details from blurb): Growing up, Clover listened to her mom tell her stories from Darby Donovan's book Legend Has It, a collection of tales about a gray-eyed fairy boy. This fairy boy becomes her lifeline when her mom dies and she's left with her father, the fairy boy becoming a lifeline she never gave up on. Thirteen years later, she's doing it again when her small Irish town is struck by bombs from Russian mafia turned soldier invaders and she pulls a Russian Navy Officer out of certain death. A man with those same familiar gray eyes. They're forced to remain together, hiding from Russian invaders, and tending to their wounds. Despite her need to hate him for what he is, and what he's done, she can't find herself doing that. Not when he looks too much like the fairy she grew up hearing about. There's an unknown pull to him, one that gets complicated when the truth of who he is comes out. Because he's not her fairy friend, far from it. He's the devil himself.

Tropes:
🍀 enemies to lovers
🍀 touch her and die
🍀 forced proximity
🍀 mafia war
🍀 Romeo and Juliet vibes
🍀 he's the enemy

Are you ready to return to Ireland? Clover lives on the Howth peninsula When a war erupts near her home. She saves one of the injured soldiers named Damien and takes shelter. Was she trapped with the enemy or was he something else? A war between two countries is the background of this dark tale set in Ireland. After chapter one your jaw will drop!! I won’t say anymore though as you will have to read to see why. I will say that this is different from book one as it is based more in a war setting but with one huge twist. This is a dark tale mixed with Irish lore. Please make sure to check the TW. Told in first person and dual POV.

This book is unlike anything I've read before. It was a mix of fantasy and realism in a way that I did not expect or anticipate.

This story of star-crossed lovers was combined with Irish folklore brought to this alternate reality. And then throw in a dash of reincarnation/second lives.

What to expect:
- Action filled plot
- He falls fast
- Irish folklore
- Alternative reality

I will admit that at times, I had a lot of questions about how it would all be explained. BB Easton is truly a creative because I never could have dreamed this up.

And the way that this is written - the prose is so beautiful. The audiobook narrators did a breathtaking job on this one. Eric Nolan is quickly becoming one of my favorite male narrators.

“Touching her might have felt like a war, but some wars are worth fighting for.”

This was MAGIC. But it was also heartbreaking, hard to read at times but also completely captivating all at once. BB Easton is the queen of setting a scene so vivid and magical your mind has no trouble conjuring it up and wandering around in it.

The Devil Himself is the sequel to The Devil Of Dublin (not a standalone). This is a dark twisted folktale about a town called Glenshire and the lonely, gray-eyed fairy prince who haunted the woods there. The story follows Clover and Damien – star crossed enemies and lovers - who start as strangers but need each other to survive the threat of evil in Ireland. Theres love, hate, darkness and light with the backdrop of Ireland (which is a special place to me) making the perfect atmosphere for this magical dark fairytale with a twist.

This was one of my most highly anticipated books of the year and I am far from disappointed. It was perfect and everything I didn’t know I needed after the Devil of Dublin. The grey-eyed fairy prince of Glenshire lives rent free in my dreams.

Please check triggers warnings – this is a dark romance so if morally grey is not your favourite colour – proceed with caution.

Thank you Valentine PR and BB Easton for my ARC copy. Easily one of my best reads of 2024!

DNF 53%

I want to premise this review with the fact that I absolutely 100% *LOVED* Devil of Dublin. The folklore. The magical realism. The writing. The emotionally rich story. It's all sooo good. This, unfortunately is the complete opposite of that.

This story takes place during a modern day war. Not a mafia war like you might think, but a war-war. There's bombing. There's death. There are hostage situations. All the while, our main characters are frolicking along the country as if it's safe to be out and moving around. The FMC is knocking on doors she has no business knocking on and our MMC has been shot, without food or medication and is able to take down a room full of men...then attempt to have sex with the FMC in a bakery within 24 hours of their escape.

If it all sounds a bit far from being anywhere near realistic, it well and truly is. There are plot holes galore and some parts of the story felt thrown in for shock value or to make it a 'dark' romance. I usually don't rate books a 1-Star unless the writing is just really bad, but I feel this was a total Bait & Switch and I'm severely disappointed....so, it's getting a 1-Star rating {plus, the writing IS pretty bad}. I appreciate what BB tried to do and I love those star-crossed/soulmate types of stories, but this one just didn't work. Too much Insta-Love without enough character depth to back that up. I'm going to pretend that this series ended at Book 1 and leave it at that.

WTH happened

Started off a little wobbly first few chapters. I was confused on where it was going. Then I got it and was all in. This was a 5 star read up until about 60-70% of the book when the FMC became too insufferable to even want to finish reading the book. I very very nearly DNFd it at that point. I had Alexa read the last part of the book out to me super sped up while I worked from home just to get the ending. And didn’t sound like the waste of breath female main character did anything worth noting besides being the idiot sperm dumpster she was the whole book.

There were so many things that happened that didn’t need to happen if the fmc would’ve had even 1 tiny brain cell or ounce of self preservation. The fact that she just kept getting them into shit just made me crazy. There was even a part with the MMC was almost as dumb as her and I really should’ve DNFd it at that point. I think his moms gf goes to rescue him from the mental hospital/his dad and he’s like NO I’m not going and gives the guy rescuing him a concussion. And for what- to literally walk out with them a few seconds later and now have to carry the concussed soldier out. 🤦🏻‍♀️. Why?? What was the point of that. Then the part where the villain finally dies and they just start banging in a helicopter didn’t make any sense to me. I’m so glad it’s over with.

I loved the first book and the idea of this book was awesome but yeah it’s a NO from me.

This is a gripping continuation of "Devil of Dublin," where romance meets dark folklore in war-torn Ireland. Clover Doyle, a young woman haunted by her past, rescues a Russian Navy officer, Damien, during a brutal Mafia war. The tension between them is palpable, blending hatred and undeniable attraction. Easton masterfully intertwines Irish legends with high-stakes drama, making this a page-turner from start to finish. The emotional intensity, unexpected twists, and rich atmosphere make it impossible to put down. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave a lasting impact, especially for fans of dark, complicated love stories. It was an unforgettable sequel that surpassed my expectations.

The gasp I gasped out loud in the first chapter of this book 🫣😲 my husband thought I was having some kind of attack and, honestly, I was!
The beginning of this book is really good but at about the half way mark it goes off the rails. It becomes nonsensical and choppy. Many new plot lines are started and abruptly ended over and over. Every chapter there is something new, but it's solved before the reader can get invested in the story.
I gave book one 4 stars and this is getting 1.
There is hardly any spice so 🌶1/5 chilis on the spicy scale and I didn’t even want to give it that.

All the stars and the moon for this read!

I didn’t think this story could be better than the Devil of Dublin but the author made it even better!

My heart was in pieces by the end of the first chapter and continued to break until the end of the book!

Clover and Damien were perfect! The way they handled the life they were given and they way they overcame makes my heart so happy.

Thank you BB Easton and Valentine PR for the ARC! This is most likely my top read for the month!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 2.5
Tropes: dark, military, found family, heroine in danger, hero in danger, virgin h, not a standalone.

This utterly addictive sequel to 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙳𝙴𝚅𝙸𝙻 𝙾𝙵 𝙳𝚄𝙱𝙻𝙸𝙽 (which you 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 read before this book!) is a unique journey of the soul and the heart.
The contrasting emotions and imagery is epic. The Irish folklore and mysticism is charming, soul stirring and captivating.
The writing is spellbinding and the imagery is amazing. It goes between beautiful and gritty so seamlessly. It’s such an interesting and intriguing juxtaposition.
It’s a tale of fate, h@tred, war, injustice and love.
I don’t want to spoil your experience, it’s such an incredible reading journey. I wanted to savor each scene and I also wanted to flip the pages so quickly to know what would be happening next. I was very invested, I am in love with the characters and the storytelling.
I love this author’s writing, this is yet another completely different experience from her. I feel this is her best writing yet.
I highly recommend both books.
I’m still a bit stunned by the path this book took.
I’m in love with, I’m still processing it and I adore it!

I’m convinced that BB Easton is made of folklore fae magic because this book had me hooked and would not let go!

I started out reading on KU, but alternated to listening to the audiobook because it is incredible. (I also pre-ordered a signed copy because I need all the formats)

I definitely absolutely recommend reading The Devil of Dublin first to get the full impact. I won’t give any spoilers because I want you to experience all the things. Just know it is a must read! 🖤
