Nothing to Declare exposes more than the title suggests. We set out from the harsh Glaswegian streets where a young Dempster learns to fight his way through a tough working class childhood. His father sees spiders and snakes when he puts down the Special Brew, and we know, early on, Dempster is fated to follow in his footsteps. The author travels to India and brings back product to the squats of London where he builds his way up the pecking order during the 1990s counterculture revolution. A diet of speed, acid, extasy, alcohol and eventually heroin, pepper this confessional brew. Personally, I love stories of addiction, recovery, prison, and crime, so this book gets my thumbs up.

Did not finish. Started twice. Got a fifth of the way through. Laborious character development.

Good book and written well. A very interesting story. Would recommend to a friend. Would had given 5* but could be a little repetitive at times!
