I was just an ordinary girl waiting tables in a small-town bar. I had no idea magic was real. That was, until I backed my car over a werewolf a couple of times.
In my defense, the wolf was trying to murder me, and I was all out of mace.
Now I’ve got a cult of rogue shifters on my heels, and the only one who can protect me is a mysterious stranger, Jaxson Laurent—the leader of the Chicago pack. He’s powerful and possessive and can’t take his eyes off me, but he’s the sworn enemy of my family. I want to push him away, but the heat between us is irresistible. I don’t know who to the dangerous alpha or the family I never knew I had.
The Fates may not give me time to choose. With demons lurking in the shadows and wolves howling in the night, I’ll need to master my magic and track down the rogue pack, or I’ll be dead before the next moon rises.
Savannah & Jaxson, Books 1-4 (Complete Series) The Wolf Bound series is an action-packed, enemies-to-lovers urban fantasy with building steam and an HEA in book 4. It pits a kick-ass heroine and dangerous hero against a deepening conspiracy of rogue wolves, sorcerers, and the forces of a dark god.
Veronica Douglas is a duo of professional archaeologists that love writing and digging together. After spending an inordinate amount of time doing painstaking research for academia, they suddenly discovered a passion for letting their imaginations go wild! A cocktail of magic, romance, and ancient mystery (shaken, not stirred), their books are inspired, in part, by their time in Chicago and their archaeological adventures from around the globe.
Hunted and she didn’t know why, but with her life threatened by scary werewolves Savannah had no other choice, she had to look for answers. But she didn’t count on Jaxson Laurent, Chicago’s alpha, one who had a mystery to solve and her heart to steal. Savy has a strong personality and was not easily swayed. I love how the author kept me on edge with the suspense, the exciting, intense, and sometimes emotional descriptions trying to look for a hint and guess what was going to happen because things were not obvious. Good characters, strong emotions, with love/hate intensity, interesting and mysterious twists, intrigue, secrets, suspense, rage, betrayal, violence, intense battles, romance, and passion. Enjoyed this story that kept me on the lookout with every surprise the author has for us.
The bundle is heavy, coming in at over 1500 pages, so you'll need a good place to sit and plenty of snacks around you, but the story is so worth it. I love both Savannah and Jaxson and their enemies-to-lovers / fated mates -story is just so good. We get plenty of action in all books and pretty damn powerful villain to boot as well. The story moves fast but you do have time to take a breather and enjoy the connection these two main characters have. While they have steamy moments in all books, the emotional side takes a little while to get there but it makes total sense (the families are enemies after all) and the changes Savy goes through in this book really makes her world turn upside down and she really needs time to figure things out. And I love she got that, somewhat at least. And Jax, boy he fell hard and first and that's so good to see.
Absolutely wonderful paranormal set of books. There is mystery, drama, lots of action, suspense, and romance. Savannah is an human turned by a werewolf. Jaxson is the alpha of the pack of wolves. They end up on a journey fighting for survival and trials. There is an attraction but they are sworn enemies. All the characters and storyline are well worth reading. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Douglas.
I binge read the series and it was awesome how the main characters developed, and the banter and wit of the side characters—most especially Sam and Casey. I actually thought they’d be the next couple given a series. I guessed pretty early on that Savy’s mom was a wolf and that was buried in her somewhere but the twist of the twin souls and the binding was so cool. Also how she fulfilled the prophecy was so unexpected. Great reads!
Some real dark challenges in here - pushing the good guys to their limits. Nice touches with relationships that provided the positive counterbalance. Well written and good discovery.
