When the world comes to a screeching halt, what would you do to survive?
After a rogue nation detonates a devastating EMP over the East Coast, Washington, D.C. is thrown into chaos…
Vivienne Harmon is supposed to be celebrating her ‘launch day’—the day she leaves her controlling, narcissistic husband, Cosmo, who, unbeknownst to Viv, runs a lucrative fencing operation with ties to the Russian mob. But when the power grid fails in one catastrophic moment, her escape plans change. In a city quickly devolving into dangerous civil unrest, she must make life concessions for her friends, trapping her in the city.
On his friend Vale’s farm outside of D.C. Hotshot firefighter Tobin Grant struggles to patch himself back together, both physically and mentally. Suddenly, he’s wholly responsible for protecting Vale’s children and property from desperate raiders. Banding together with neighbors is their only hope for survival.
Meanwhile, Cosmo is hot on Viv’s trail, desperate to recover the priceless artifact she took when she left. To find her, he’ll be as ruthless as he needs to be. Before the Russian mob finds him. Before it’s too late.
Excellent and unique part if the Oct. Fall series.
The focus on D.C. adds a different perspective on the Oct Fall series. Interesting characters and plots. Looking forward to further development of their stories.
I really enjoyed this "episode" of the October Fall series. The multitude of characters are interesting. I can't wait for the number 2 of DC. A definite recommend!
Need the next chapter fast. This is one of the best fall books ever! Every character and every plot twist is great! I was so disappointed because it left me hanging on a cliff!
Another knock out in the Falls series of EMP attacks on the US, from perspectives across the area hit by the EMP’s. This is a faced paced thriller… leaving you begging for more! Bravo
This takes place in my neck of the woods, but there were so many characters, that is was difficult to connect with most of them. I kind of liked Tobin, but DUDE, when you see a women you don't know, in just a towel, in your friend's house, you make a lot of noise and don't just sneak up and startle her. I absolutely don't understand Vale not heading straight home to his young children instead of making sure that everyone in a 20 mile radius of the airport is OK. Same with Viv and Kenz who keep getting so distracted by everyone, especially the difficult teenage neighbor. Once there is a car, rather than Vale stay behind with the critically injured friend, why not put the friend in the car and take him back to the farm? There were some editing errors (like Hansen instead of Harman etc) that could be improved with better proofreading. I do like the cooperation with Tobin and the neighbors which will likely become more important if there is a book 2.
Overall, the story was pretty good, but there were several areas that needed work. To start with, there were way too many characters and sub-plots to make this a cohesive read. The timelines were off and several details just didn’t make sense. One thing that really bugged me was that one of the main characters didn’t leave immediately after the event to get home to his two children. There are a lot of other inconsistencies that didn’t make sense, but I won’t go into detail, as they would be spoilers. The writer clearly has talent, but this book suffered from lack of editing.
Another great storyline in the October Fall series
I have been into this series for a while and it just keeps spinning out new story lines! Truly the gift that keeps on giving. Well written and easy to follow with sufficient depth and detail for even my reading appetite!
One of the best written books I've read in this entire series, right up there with the original books. No wasted word count on inanities such as useless and oft repeated street and route directions.
Another good addition to the series of Fall. Characters are taking shape to be excellent. The storyline adds a different set of circumstances and a new area. Looking forward to the next book.
Enjoyed this episode in D.C.Fall very much. Each character is well written and easily identifiable. I look forward to seeing how this story develops. Good people and bad people and very bad people make great reading. Waiting for the next book.
Engaging characters ground this post-apocalyptic drama. Set in and around the nation's capital, it brings a different perspective to the EMP disaster genre, emphasizing building community. Full review: https://www.selfrescuingprincesses.co...
