The stories of Amber and Jet were decent enough, but there were too many issues with the writing to recommend this book. Something that is not addressed, though should be, is that a cat and a baby should not be left alone together. The adults involved in the story of Jet fail to accept the responsibility of what happened here, and it comes off as something I wouldn't want my children to emulate. The other stories were cute, but the author displays consistent continuity problems that just make the whole thing a chore to read.

These books are how I was indoctrinated into being a cat person by my mother when I was a child. Iconic.

I thought it was a cute read, and although the timeline and the use of the word "kitten" were confusing, it was still fun to read. The individual plots for the three cats were unique and adorably entertaining. My only problem with the book are the strange human/cat interactions where it plays out like Lassie, because the communication between animal and human is not that clear in the real world. I would have liked to see more baby talk with the cats, because that is more realistic. The cats are all portrayed as even-tempered angels, that are only slightly mischievous, and this is unrealistic. In the real world, cats are often temperamental, quickly switching between moods for no apparent reason, and this is important to teach if this is supposed to be children's reading material. I would still recommend this book for an easy fluff read.

my favorite kitten was amber because she was like a dog. there was no worst kitten or story. my favorite story was about emerald being a curious kitten because in the end she got a job at the movie theatre. auryn 11 years old, 2014

The stories all melted together, but I did like the kittens. Part of a Christmas present. Later given away because they were in smashing good condition despite multiple reads.
