Dear book,
It's not you, it's me. I'm pretty sure I'm in the throes of a book funk right now. This has been my second DNF after reading The Slayer, so I reckon, it's my mood.
You're not a bad book, I'm just not feeling you right now.

This was just an okay read for me. Not terrible, but not really wowing either. I never really warmed up to the MCs.
Julia was kind of bossy...
Eat this, do this, don't do this, no I won't have sex with you....again, no dating, blah blah blah.
And speaking of the whole "no I won't have sex with you again"....
No sex for you....means no sex for us. I think there were two scenes in the entire book. Which was very different from the Renegades series and what I come to expect from Skye Jordan. Just saying.
Noah was alright I guess. Definitely the better of the two MCs. But he didn't really wow me either.
I was a bit bored at times....not too much was happening really. I mean, I guess I should be thankful there wasn't a bunch of drama.
Really, at 90% you're going to throw in that crap???
Needless to say, that was followed by a rushed ending full of "I Love You's" and a less than wowing epilogue.
I'm feeling pretty meh about this one, but I don't think I'll write this series completely off....yet.

Gosh, it pains me to give up on a Skye Jordan book but this one just isn't doing it for me. When I saw she had a new series coming out, I jumped at the chance to read it. I absolutely LOVED her Renegade series. But this one, unfortunately, didn't hit the mark for me. There's things I really liked about it but they were fleeting. The gist of the story is about Noah, a professional snowboarder who's had a terrible injury and has attempted (and failed) both recovery on his own and with 2-3 other trainers. So his agent hires Julia to get him on the mend for the big snow boarding championships. If he doesn't participate and do well, he loses his sponsorships...and his career.
What worked for me mostly was the author's obvious knowledge in all things sports medicine and diet/nutrition. I seriously learned a few things I hadn't known about what foods help injuries heal...and in twenty years of nursing I've never heard an orthopedic doctor actually EXPLAIN why they don't want people taking anti-inflammatories like Motrin after a break. She explained it perfectly! Oh yah, this is a review of a romance novel and not a medical book review, right? Turning off my nurse brain now...(but a total high five for that stuff)!
What DIDN'T work for me were the characters. I just didn't jive with either of them. I got twitchy early on with Julia and how she kind of played games with Noah when he acted like he didn't need a trainer. She really needed the money and quit her previous job and even as he wanted her back, she played serious hard to get...aka games. I don't like games.
Noah just isn't my type of hero. I'm not sure what rubbed me the wrong way about him but he's not the alpha hot Renegade guys we got with Ms Jordan's other series.
What I can always count on with Skye Jordan is a nice dosage of steam. Well, at 30% we had one nice sexy episode then nothing till I gave up at 60%.
So- 1). heroine that bugs me, 2). hero that just reminds me of a typical jock and not mature hot, and 3). not near the dosage of steam I'm used to with her books...I just couldn't stay tuned in. This is likely a situation of "it's not you, it's me" and I'm sure this will hit the mark for most other fans of Skye Jordan.

I like to see an author branch out from a popular series and go in a new direction. I tend to think that that means they are writing what they want to write rather than what they think readers want...and those stories are always better, anyways. I enjoyed the hell out of Skye Jordan's (Joan Swan's)Renegades series. I haven't yet read her paranormal romantic suspense series but plan to. And I'm thrilled to be able to say how much I loved this new foray into extreme sports that she's given us. It's actually a breath of fresh air...how often is a hero a snowboarder? We get a lot of football, rugby, soccer players, etc., but Olympic sports never really found a niche. And I'm surprised there isn't more out there, because there is a lot of fodder for new storylines.
In this first in the Xtreme Heroes series, our heroine is a physical therapist fallen from grace. When the book opens, she is in a nursing-home type of facility. It's obvious that this is not what calls to her heart, and the reader immediately gets the sense that there is big story behind her. When an old acquaintance...a manager/agent for athletes comes for a visit and begs her to come back to the fold and work her magic on a famous snowboarder, the plot thickens. Julia obviously feels betrayed and outcast from her former colleagues. She is reluctant to walk back to her former life.
Noah is a world champion snowboarder with a broken ankle and stubborn streak. He thinks he can rehab himself just fine. Sure, he used to live the wild life of a famous athlete, but since cultivating that reputation, he's settled down and is now focused on making it to the upcoming X-games. Being the bullheaded man that he is, he doesn't want help from the new therapist...especially the kind of intense, rigorous help that she offers.
When Noah and Julia are snowed in for a couple of days and forced into close contact, one thing leads to another...and not only does Noah realize how much he needs Julia's help rehabbing his ankle, but he also realizes how into this woman he is mentally, sexually, and emotionally.
Now, I love a story when the guy chases the girl. I love that slow slide into realization that his new focus on life is keeping, protecting, and loving her. Especially when it comes as a surprise to him. And Noah is a freaking sweethearted fool over Julia. SO SWOONY! He's funny, he's gentle when he needs to be, but he also has a moment of cave-manliness that shows his intensity.
Julia is a very cautious woman, and I can see some readers having issues with her. It's hard to write lovable female characters in romance novels, but let's be real....I don't read them for the heroines, do you? :D:D:D:D Still, Julia wasn't unlikeable, just very reserved, and it slowed the story down a bit. However, I really did like the fact that she was kind of a badass...fit and healthy and self assured when it came to her trade. I liked how smart she was, and that not a lot of attention was given to her looks other than how in shape she was. There's some versatility from this author with regards to her heroines...they aren't all empty headed gorgeous types, ready and willing to fall all over themselves for a sexy guy. They're tough and strong willed and more beautiful for it.
I wanted some more closure with regards to both Julia and Noah's pasts. Obviously their upbringing was important to the people they are today, but after some elaboration on certain issues, it was sort of dropped. I wanted each of them to be able to sort of shut the door on the past, and I felt like that was glossed over. Julia's bad experience previously was a bigger part of the story, but I still wanted at least another paragraph or something telling about how that issue was finally dealt with.
One of my favorite quotes...it's so funny, and so sexy at the same time....
Overall, this was another big winner from this author for me. I loved the change of setting, the slower paced feel, and as ever with her books...the sex was smoking hot but didn't permeate the pages. I think the buildup is a foreplay all on it's own, and I get tired of erotic authors thinking that they need a sex scene every twenty pages. That wasn't the case here, and I'm so glad.

Julia was "everyone’s darling on the way up, and everyone’s dirty little secret on the way down." Her Olympic medal days are long over, leaving her past behind her to start a new one as a Physical Therapist for the elite...but even that hadn't lasted long as she sat back and watched her reputation get dragged through the mud. Working in a Convalescent Home, her fall from fame had been a hard one and now her she is looking at, Drake, who is offering her a second chance. Something that would help the cushion her bank account to support her dream of owning her own facility.
The only drawback, Noah Hunt, the daredevil snowboarder, who has injured himself pretty bad and is in denial of needing anyone's help. In six weeks he has to be fully rehabbed to compete in the Winter X Games. Six weeks isn't a whole lot of time but Julia isn't one to back down from a challenge, and if there is anyone who can put Hunt in his place it's Julia. He's cocky, restless, stubborn and everything she doesn't need in her personal life.
Their first meeting was disastrous, their second explosive and by using every trick Drake knows he gets her to agree to stay. Julia knows she should be leaving at the first possible chance, but she can see what an injury like his can do to a career and knows with her skill and knowledge she can get him back on his board in time for the games.
Only it's not so simple, Noah wants her there in his bed but she's sticking to her rules... she doesn't sleep with her clients. To make matters worse, she is a walking encyclopedia on nutrition and health and a drill sergeant. She is there to fill his every need with the exception of sex and she does it with care and affection; always careful to not cross the line. She wants him as much as he wants her, but she is too stubborn to give in to her needs no matter how tempting his is. It turns out Noah isn't the man she thought him to be, surprised by his generosity, his success and his dedication ... not to mention he's sex on legs and he just so happens to be the most considerate-sweet-caring man she's met.
But they can't go there, she does everything she can to make sure they don't, fully focusing on his recovery. He wants to get to know the real woman behind her drive, but she won't budge...keeping all her dirty secrets in the past where it belongs, or so she thinks.
The Risk was a very informative read, I went in with a lower set of expectations considering some previous reviews I've seen. After having finished it, I can see why the other reviewers had concern for the fitness information overload. I don't know if it is because I am "trying" to get fit, that I didn't mind it as much, but it was just reading and learning a few tips and not really falling for their story. It was pretty much an okay read for me, however I will say the last 15% of the book left me with a smile on my face giving me the new adult feel that I was looking for, just wished it was all over the book and not just the end.
I didn't get all the secrecy with Julia's past, her stubbornness and lecture-like ways didn't make her a favorite of mine. She was like a dog with a bone; relentless. Noah was a different story, I felt bad for him because he truly was a nice guy, just got punished for all the douche bag men in her past. Will I continue on with the series, of course, I think it was just their specific story that didn't capture me the way the author's work usually does.

Above is the cover that would fit the book I've read more adequately.
As a matter of fact, the only thing that was left on my mind after closing the book, is how bad my eating habits are. I mean really, the main focus of this book was to teach us how to eat healthy.
Mkay? (And I need to throw in here that going from Kristen Ashley obsession with soulfood, to THIS, it was quite the shock for my growing appetite.) Diet 101, I'm ready to start.
I thought this would be a fun and sexy romance about a cocky snowboarder and a focused and stubborn physical therapist.
It kind of was, but I really started to lose focus after 30%.
I mean with a cover like that, I really expected The Risk to be all kind of sexy and steamy. But none of that, the heroine, Julia, imposed and introduced a NO SEX RULE early on in the book...
...Only to break it off at the first (and almost only) occasion. (Sorry to disappoint, I counted the sex scenes, in my book, you'll get less than 2.)
Another thing that left me kind of a bad taste is Julia herself. I do like my heroines to be fierce, strong, empowering but Julia bulldozed everything on her passage, she truly was demanding and yes, bitchy... I couldn't connect with her at all.
Noah's character was alright. I liked him, though it annoyed me that he had to put up with Julia's problems with her past... Yes she had some bad experiences in her past, but I didn't understand why it had to be such a big deal althrough the book? I wish she had taken the time to explain and move on.
Overall this was barely an okay read for me, having really enjoyed Skye Jordan's previous series (Renegades) I must say I'm a little disappointed with this one.
It's no surprise that turning the last page of this book, I went in search for food. REAL FOOD.

The Risk is the first book in a new series bye Skye Jordan. I've discovered this author with Recklessin the Renegades series and I knew how she can write a funny and steamy story with alpha male to drop your panties for; so when I learned she was writing a new novel. I was excited to begin.
With The Risk, you will find yourself in the snowboard world... and when I think of sports I think of hot, alpha, dominant male and why not a full locker of man with lots of testosterone
Oops sorry I digress a little, I'm already thinking about the next books and I haven't started talking about the first ;P
Noah is a professional snowboarder, but a bad injury put him at rest for too long. One of his friend and agent, Drake, want to hire a professional therapist without him agreeing to it. Noah has a dateline he can miss and without help he might not be ready. Drake knows the perfect person -> Julia Bailey.
At the beginning, we don't know much about her. She is working with the elderly and doesn't really like it.
We only know she was working with athletes when something wrong happened and she had to abandon everything.
Julia surprised me right away; she is not the type to be messed around. From her first meeting with Noah, she sets the boundaries of her work and she was pretty aggressive with him. She seems to have prejudice against Noah or at the least the kind of guy he can represent.
Noah is a little taken off guard by this woman who enters his life like a tornado. He doesn't understand what she is doing, why she has to stay with him and why she seems to rearrange his life completely.
One thing that surprise me in a good way was the fact that we received info and advise on how certain injuries are healed,... and even if we are not in a medical book, I found that interesting.
Noah is not a easy guy at first. He doesn't want Julia in his life, yet he has nothing against her in his bed.
Throughout the book, they are a lot of double-entendre, but Noah is not my typical dirty talker kind of guy... he is more sweet than dirty
At some point, Noah comes to his senses and is ready to work with his new physical therapist but Julia has conditions and one of them is.... no sex
You should have seen my face! I mean, you've seen my nickname here? So I like my read to be naughty and by naughty I expect sex especially if I think of Skye Jordan's books. And what do I have here? At 41%, with only 1 tiny sex scene... no more sex between these two?
Fortunately for me, I had my mind to focus on other thing. First there's Finn who is one of Noah's friend and a snowboarder. ( Now I only hope his book is next because he seems really funny and a little cocky ^^)
Then we have Noah and Julia relationship to focus on. Even without the sex, I liked the friendship they share. It was a little refreshing to not have the insta-love thing, even if they is a strong attraction between them.
I also liked the fact we don't have all information on Julia and her past, that we get to know her and mostly understand her better gradually.
All in all, it was a nice read but I have to admit I expected a little more. This was maybe a little to nice for my dirty mind.

Noah is a little taken off guard by this woman who enters his life like a tornado. He doesn't understand what she is doing, why she has to stay with him and why she seems to rearrange his life completely.
One thing that surprise me in a good way was the fact that we received info and advise on how certain injuries are healed,... and even if we are not in a medical book, I found that interesting.
Noah is not a easy guy at first. He doesn't want Julia in his life, yet he has nothing against her in his bed.
Throughout the book, they are a lot of double-entendre, but Noah is not my typical dirty talker kind of guy... he is more sweet than dirty
At some point, Noah comes to his senses and is ready to work with his new physical therapist but Julia has conditions and one of them is.... no sex
You should have seen my face! I mean, you've seen my nickname here? So I like my read to be naughty and by naughty I expect sex especially if I think of Skye Jordan's books. And what do I have here? At 41%, with only 1 tiny sex scene... no more sex between these two?
Fortunately for me, I had my mind to focus on other thing. First there's Finn who is one of Noah's friend and a snowboarder. ( Now I only hope his book is next because he seems really funny and a little cocky ^^)
Then we have Noah and Julia relationship to focus on. Even without the sex, I liked the friendship they share. It was a little refreshing to not have the insta-love thing, even if they is a strong attraction between them.
I also liked the fact we don't have all information on Julia and her past, that we get to know her and mostly understand her better gradually.
All in all, it was a nice read but I have to admit I expected a little more. This was maybe a little to nice for my dirty mind.

4 - "Insane. Intense. Best ever." Stars!
Skye Jordan has definitely hit the jackpot with the start this new Xtreme Heroes series. I am always a little wary reading a romance book set in the world of a sport I am not massively knowledgeable about, and The Risk tells us the story of Noah Hunt, Snowboarding extraordinaire, and his battle to recover from a potentially career ending injury. But my worry was wasted, Skye gives the reader enough information to know what is going on but doesn’t go overboard with lengthy explanations into anything. The story grabbed me from the first chapter, it had me giggling on a train carriage, and garnering me some pretty strange looks because of it!
Julia Bailey is one of a long line of physical therapists that have been procured to assist Noah in getting back to strength, all previous attempts having failed, as Noah believes he can bring himself back too full strength just as well.
Underneath, he is a good guy, but he’s got some serious baggage, not to mention Rushmore on his shoulder.
Everyone else knows just how difficult Noah’s potential recover could be and the dangers of not doing it properly, Julia has been burnt in the past when it comes to dealing with high profile sportsmen with the egos too match and is initially reluctant to take on Noah’s rehabilitation.
”Professional and snowboarder do not belong in the same sentence.”
I loved these two together, both are extremely strong willed characters and although Noah is cocky you can’t help but have a little soft spot for the vulnerabilities that you know are there, that he tries to keep hidden. Julia doesn’t let him get away with a thing, and their battle of wills with his therapy, with their relationship, and their feelings for each other as the book progresses make for great reading.
”I’m not doing another one-off with you… I want more. I need more. I care about you goddammit.”
This is a couple that grows together as the book progresses. I like that although after an initial hook-up Julia pulls back and brings it back to about Noah’s recovery; it makes for some great sexual tension and heat between them.
The Risk as I have come to expect from Skye Jordan, is another really great read. It’s the beginning of a new series from this author, and that makes me excited. I haven’t read a bad book from her, and I expect that to continue with further additions to the Xtreme Heroes numbers, there were a few introductions in this books as well; Finn, stood out too me, and is screaming ’I have a story to tell,’ so I hope we get a book for him at some point in the future.

Another hot series from Skye Jordan, yes please!
Julia was at the top of her game as a physical therapist then it all crumbled when she was accused of sexual harassment, slinking away to lick her wounds as the rumors died down she gets a visit and an offer that might just be the one to give her a second chance at her dreams. The only problem, Noah.
Noah who suffered a bad ankle injury is a difficult patient, not willing to do what he’s told and ready to heal himself so he can participate in the upcoming games. But he’s met his match when Julia shows up and fails to back down.
The attraction is instant and Noah can’t seem to keep his hands to himself and it becomes quite clear that Julia isn’t putting up much of a fight. After one steamy night though, Julia lays down the rules – its hands off and focus for Noah.
It seems like forever ago when I picked up the Renegades Series and although I am very sad to say goodbye to those hot stuntmen, I am excited to see what we get with this new series. I absolutely loved these characters. Jordan has this knack for creating these brilliant alpha characters and giving them strong heroines that just fit them perfectly.
This had it all. Great story, amazing chemistry and enough steam that you’re left fanning yourself. I can’t recommend this author enough. I have never been let down by her series and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. We get a chance to meet a few of Noah’s friends and I am crossing my fingers that Finn’s story will be up next.

3 "Superstar" Stars
Skye Jordan captivated my reading heart with her entire Renegade series as I devoured each one. When I saw The Risk there was no question I'd be reading this story. Her storytelling power always hold my attention while her plots move fluidly and keep me wanting more. Noah Hunt and Julia Baliey were the focus of this doctor/patient contemporary story about overcoming the judgments of the past while beating the odds.
I didn't love this book liked I loved others of it's kind of of Jordan's. But I did enjoy it. Skye Jordan writes hot sex, I've read here and I've read it before. But for me the passion was missing along with the overwhelming sexual tension. For most this book the main characters are only friends. There seemed to be too long a stall period for me with them taking the next step. Again, it wasn't anything I didn't enjoy per se, I just didn't love it as I wanted more of a connection.
Noah and Julia find themselves enamored with each other against their own dissuasion when a mutual friend puts them together for Julia to rehab Noah's snowboaring injury. The setting is magical, their banter infectious, and friendship fun.
The Risk is worth the read for a fast, fun book. I look forward to reading more from this series as a few of the secondary characters caught my attention, especially Noah's friend Finn.

I really can't believe how much I like this one. I thought it to be a well developed and write novel. I enjoyed both MC and the supporting C. I really can't say anything bad about this book. I would definitely recommend it.

I’m just going to admit that I love the X-Games and the X-Game athletes so I was pretty stoked when Skye Jordan announced this series. There was so much that I loved about The Risk including a snowboarding hero who there is way more to than anyone expected, a no nonsense heroine whose life has been anything but normal, an amazing and intriguing cast of secondary characters, and a romance that blossoms out of respect, friendship, and caring and okay really hot sex but even these two come to realize that isn’t the most important aspect of their relationship. This book was flirty and fun but is was also sexy and serious and rolled all together made it a spectacular start to a new series.
I admire a strong heroine and Julia Bailey defines strong in many ways; an ex-Olympic gold medal winner, a must sought after and respected physical therapist, and a big mistake that cost her job but hasn’t broken her, just cracked her a little. When her ex-agent and friend asks her to help out one of his clients, a snowboarder, she’s pretty sure it’s not an assignment she wants and when she meets Noah Hunt she knows it’s not an assignment she can keep because in addition to his arrogance and cockiness she’s attracted to him like she hasn’t been attracted in a long time and she knows that spells nothing but trouble.
At the very beginning of this book I wasn’t sure I was going to like Noah Hunt but honestly he changed my mind pretty quickly. It was evident he was dedicated to his sport, that his rehab met more to him than anyone seemed to realize (with the exception of Julia), and that underneath all the “dudes” he was a pretty smart guy, a caring uncle, and capable of making changes he needed to make to succeed in his goals.
These two get off on the wrong foot immediately but all the verbal sparring and closeness turns into one hot encounter that further complicates matters as they move into a therapist/patient role. I loved that Julia didn’t cut Noah any slack; that she held him accountable for everything and that she knew what he needed to make his therapy work for him. She absolutely pushed him when he needed it and she always had his best interest at hand. I liked the way Noah began to understand Julia’s process and how he began to accept and even relish in the fact that her practices were working and he was benefitting from them. I love that he began to quickly admire her for what she helped him accomplish in a short time and respect the work that she does. The fact that Julia began to see that Noah was more than just a snowboarder; that he was a pretty savvy businessman and was making plans for life after his career ended made him even more attractive. While I appreciated Julia’s expertise in all aspects of helping Noah heal, I will admit there was a lot of technical information, dietary information, and medical information and at times I felt it bogged down the story. I appreciate the author’s research into this area but I did find myself at times zoning out during the heroine’s speeches. We got glimpses into the lives of the secondary characters but they didn’t overshadow this story but they were intriguing making me very interested in what comes next.
Well written and well plotted with fascinating characters The Risk is a strong start to the Xtreme Heroes and in my opinion Jordan Skye has another hit series in the making!

I see everything from a DNF to my 5 stars for this book on Goodreads??? Why the range? This book was awesome, IMHO. I loved Julia and her complexities and her insecurities. Real life isn’t clean, isn’t polished and most certainly isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! Julia has some deep secrets, but she isn’t the one in the lime light…so she keeps her secrets close to her chest while fixing the elite who are broken.
One bad fall has left Noah Hunt as damaged as Julia’s one bad decision left her heart. As an extreme athlete in snowboarding, Noah needs to get back on the snow to salvage his career, his investments and his ego. After rejecting 3 other physical therapists, Julia comes in hard and she an Noah battle. I loved their banter, because you know where there is tension and bickering…there is steam and passion. These two driven individuals literally smoke off the pages.
As for the story, I have to admit that my favorite parts were Julia teaching him how to shop, how to cook and how to take care of himself. I found myself “stripping” down my chicken, steaming some veg and topping my brown rice and quinoa with crushed pistachios! I do believe I need Julia at my house to clean up my kitchen and whip my butt into shape for my sister’s wedding…which will be a whole other type of extreme games event to be sure!
I can’t wait for the next installments of the Xtreme Heroes….I am excited about another food lover, who I certainly hope cooks up some good stuff, both in and out of the kitchen! Enjoy!

Sports-themed romances are among my very favorites. Jordan's new Xtreme Heroes grabbed hold of my attention because snowboarding is one sport that I've never really watched or been interested in until this past winter when my grandson got so involved in watching it. Watching him excited and cheering made me take notice. So, when I saw snowboarding + romance, Nannie one-clicked. A strong start to a new series filled with not only chemistry, sizzle and steam, but a great many details on diet and exercise and the hours of hard work and maintenance that goes into a career on the slopes -- especially after a debilitating injury. Two very strong-willed characters, lots of face-offs between them, along with pasts filled with troubles and woes lead this one to being an all-around enjoyable and unique time spent inside the pages.

I think Skye Jordan is becoming stronger as an author with each book. When I first read her, I felt she concentrated more on the sexy than the story but that has slowly changed. Her books are still sexy but also have really good characters and plot. I really loved the spunky physiotherapist heroine and even our stubborn as hell hero. You know when you can see the characters falling in love? Well in this you do. Really enjoyed this one.

Based on current reviews this is one of those reads that you will either love or loath. It's not the dark and sexed up kind work I usually read but I really did enjoyed it.
Will the next installment star someone we've met in "The Risk" or will it be a true standalone series with a complete new cast of characters? Curious minds would like it know!

I loved being back in the Renegades world! Risk by Skye Jordan is an entertaining and action packed romance between a stuntman/climbing expert and a woman fresh from Kentucky for a new job for a public relations firm in Hollywood.
Duke is back with his Renegades family after a two year break to help his sister and three nieces as she battles her high profile ex-husband (whose henchmen has made their life miserable) for custody. Unable to take off anymore time as he’s run through all of his savings helping his sister with her fight, Duke is back in California and attending the wedding of Jax and Lexi when he meets Lexi’s cousin Caitlyn. Knowing he is leaving the next day for a 4-6 week assignment, he doesn’t expect anything more than to get to know her but Caitlyn surprises him in all the best ways and as they part as friends Duke knows she is someone special.
There’s a lot I want to say about Duke; it’s obvious he is a kind, generous, and dedicated to his family and job type of guy so at times his actions towards Caitlyn seemed out of character. I get he was stressed, worried about his sister and nieces, and worried about making sure the safety on the movie set was above board because his livelihood depended on it. I loved that he supported Caitlyn when her family and her ex-boyfriend made her feel less than, yet he was guilty of the same thing a couple of times in this book which is why this wasn’t a 5 star read for me. It would have been less except that Caitlyn didn’t let him get away with his behavior which righted it a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Duke and I know he meant well and for the most part he was a great guy and treated Caitlyn well but he had a bad habit of taking out his frustrations with situations on her and saying things that made her feel bad about herself when it was more about his failures than hers.
Caitlyn…wow, if ever there was a character that people underestimated she’s the one and man did she show everyone. Finding out her new PR job was a “fixer/handler” for an A-list star who acted no better than a spoiled child threw Caitlyn for a loop, but she pulled up her boot straps and charged on. I have the biggest girl crush on Caitlyn and loved that she didn’t take crap from anyone including the A-list star, her horrible boss, or her parents and ex-boyfriend all who felt she was doomed to fail. I’d include Duke in that list but he was supportive most of the time, but she still called him out when he spoke out of turn.
I loved the chemistry between them from the start, the way Duke realized Caitlyn was a good person through and through, the way she knew Duke was a good man even when his mouth got away from him, and the deep feelings the reader could see between them in such a short time. Both these characters were dealing with problems in their own lives but in each other found a safe place to land.
A deep, rich plot including some incredible action scenes while rock climbing, Renegades bromances, sensuous intimate times, and the good gal(both of them) winning at life, made Risk impossible to put down and an absolute delight to read.

Skye Jordan is a name that I have heard thrown around both groups on Goodreads and on Amazon as a author I should try, but as seems to be the case, I have a book of hers sitting on the pile, but not yet gotten around to reading. So when the opportunity arose to review her newest book as part of the launch blog tour I was intrigued enough by the description and by the cover (I mean, seriously, have you SEEN the cover?!?!) that I knew I wanted to try it and for the most part I wasn’t disappointed.
From the get-go you could tell how much research the author had done not only into the world of snowboarding (which I know very little about), but also physical therapy (while never having busted my ankle, some of the techniques described have been used on me during various periods of recovery from other sports injuries). It added a sense of realism to the story – although I will admit that you could tell some of the process had been speed-up to fit with the storyline. However, from the description, I kind of expected more about the issues Julia had prior to working with Noah, but they were fairly hidden away/downplayed in the story – which was a bit of a let-down (I always figure if something is important enough to be featured prominently in the blurb, then why not include it more in the storyline…otherwise, it just feels as though it was added for angst and not really conducive to the story).
I liked the whole development between Noah and Julia as a relationship in general – but then I’m a sucker for doctor/patient and other healthcare themed romances. It very vaguely reminded me of an old school Sandra Brown (Adam’s Fall) but with the physical therapist being a former athlete. The romance between Noah and Julia felt hot and yet sweet at the same time – I actually like how she tortured him a bit before giving in and how she was willing to fight people who said “i’m the specialist that’s why” when it came to his health. My least favorite part of their romance was the random thoughts that Noah had towards the end that felt a bit 50shades-ish – it didn’t add to the story at all, and honestly felt like it was just added in as a shock factor. It was because of that, that I actually lowered my rating from 4 stars, down to 3.5 – it just felt unnecessary/didn’t work for me (don’t get me wrong, I read erotic romance regularly, but in this instance, it just wasn’t needed (IMHO).
Overall, I enjoyed the Risk – the romance was for the most part really well done and Ms Jordan did a good job developing the sexual tension between Noah and Julia. I will be curious to see where she takes the series with future books and I know that I will be moving other books that I have by her up my to-read pile.
Skye Jordan is a name that I have heard thrown around both groups on Goodreads and on Amazon as a author I should try, but as seems to be the case, I have a book of hers sitting on the pile, but not yet gotten around to reading. I was a bit disappointed in this book. I really enjoyed her previous series but I didn't really feel anything for this couple. The last 20-25% of the book grabbed me so my rating would be 3.5 stars. Most of this book was about rehabbing the MC.

LOVE this book. LOVED.
I am not a winter sports girl.
I watch it on the Olympics more than anything. I grew up in Atlanta and we went to the beach and I knew one or two families that skiied. Fast forward to college, I went to school in the mountains of North Carolina and I went skiing once. I spent 90% of the time fearing for my life and while being pulled up off my ass by my sweet and patient college boyfriend. A few years ago, I went to Big Sky, Montana and once again, attempted to ski. I LOVED Montana, in fact, I love Colorado and Montana and I'd love to go out there again and watch other people ski and snowboard. My butt was made for sitting on a beach, not sliding down a mountain on it.
Another fun fact about me, I came very close to going to PT school. I ended up getting a degree in sport management and coaching. I spent a fair amount of time in the athletic training room, wrapping ankles and treating injured athletes. So, the rehab and physical therapy aspects of this book were fascinating to me.
Ms. Jordan deftly combined the rehabbing of an elite athlete (physically and mentally) with some super hot passion and romance. That's one thing I really love about her, you always get a great plot and some seriously hot sexy times.
Julia has been burned professionally and personally and her trust, where men are concerned, is pretty much nil. Enter Noah, who is a well- known party hard snow- boarder. I wondered how in the world Ms. Jordan was going to bring these two together and in more ways than just in the biblical sense. There was plenty of that because Noah and Julia had chemistry in spades.
I think what I enjoyed was how the professional relationship was developed into a friendship and then blossomed into a form of trust between them. Developing that kind of trust was a big deal for both of them. Julia was in entrusted with every aspect of Noah's care, his diet and his body. They even began socializing with the same people and she became friends with his friends. Julia needed friends, she needed people she could trust and she also needed someone that believed in her and her abilities.
I enjoyed every bit of this book and I cannot wait for more from this series!!

My Review:
This book was just so, so good. I made a mistake the day I read it though. I get about 10 minutes at my daughter's school to read in the morning. The particular day I read this book, I was under a serious deadline with my own writing, but I knew I wouldn't get so far into my reading that I couldn't set it aside until I had my work done. I was so, so wrong. I spent the rest of the day reading and completely ignored my own deadline. Yes, this book is that good. I loved every single little bit about it.
This is a new series and I love the set-up of it...Xtreme Heroes. The first Xtreme hero is Noah, an Xgames snowboarder who broke his ankle 4 months before and isn't recovering the way that he should. That's where Julia comes in. She's a physical therapist with lots of skeletons in her closet that she's trying to keep from affecting her life now. But Noah is Xtreme...he doesn't know how to back down to a challenge and Julia is definitely that. I loved their chemistry and the way that their story developed.
Julia has learned the hard way that the only person she can count on with her career is herself. Both her career and her mental well-being have taken blows from past relationships and she's not willing to go there again. I loved how tough and driven this girl is. She's been knocked down time after time, but refuses to stay down.
And can I just say...as an author, Skye Jordan BLOWS ME AWAY. Julia is a physical therapist handling a very serious injury. I can't imagine the research that had to go into this because the factual information about all those minute details are in this book. And yeah, that sounds really boring, but Skye Jordan employs those little details in tiny little pieces so you can see how authentic all the information is without getting total information overload.
The book is smart and sexy and I promise you, it will engage you from the very beginning. This is the way good romance should be written. I highly recommend this one. And a huge bonus...the book takes place in Tahoe during winter so the mental visuals are breathtaking. I loved that aspect of this book.

Risk, takes us back into the Renegades world, it’s been a while and I was so excited to get an opportunity to read an ARC for it…the author certainly didn’t let us down!!
Although Risk is book 9, don’t be put off as each story is a stand-alone, it was nice however to catch up with previous couples who make an appearance, especially the banter on and off the film.
As I tend to review solely on my feelings/emotions when reading, this story made me feel great warmth which was created by very likeable characters. The storyline held my attention and pulled me in but it was the characters that enthralled me.
Caitlyn was fantastic, on the outside she’s a country girl with an accent who has moved to LA to find success in her work career (as a Brit I found her sayings hilarious, I must remember not to say “bless ya heart” to anyone😂) but as we see throughout the story her independence and will to succeed is strong, she doesn’t change herself for anyone, she’s is who she is and isn’t afraid to say so.
Now, Dukey boy, ahhhh my heart is yours forever ❤️ he was such a loveable character, caring for his sister and nieces, supporting Caitlyn with her independence (there was a couple of times when he needed reminding) whilst also doing his job as a Hollywood stuntman/climber, with all the issues that bought to the storyline! Now, if the author can tell me where I can find myself a Duke Reid I’ll be a very happy girl ❤️

Can I start off by saying, finally finally we get the wedding I have been waiting for!!!!! I was so happy that Jax and Lexi, we get to meet Caitlyn who is apparently Lexi's cousin, whom we have never heard of, I only ever heard of remembered her mention her brother and her drugged up mother, which always brings me to the question whatever happened to her brother? but back to story. Caitlyn is there and I ended up really liking her and happy that Lexi ended up having a family member, even though she does have a sister in Rubi. She is there checking out all the of the guest and notices one of the fine-looking Renegades, who seems to be alone and who apparently has just come back Duke. Duke is happy to be back with his other family after being gone for a while since he was helping his sister trying to get out of an abused relation. He and Caitlyn end up having an amazing night together, not expecting to have any more time together, but end up seeing each other again. but that will that not be that will not be the case. I like that Caitlyn had to stand up for herself and put her family and ex in their place multiple times and unfortunately Duke himself. but after some attitude adjustments he would wake up.

These Renegades books are so good. I disliked how everyone discounted Caitlyn since she was small and had her sweet, southern accent. But I loved how determined she was when she got to LA to make something of herself especially since her family back home in Kentucky said she was going to fail. She had met Duke, one of the Renegades, at her cousin’s wedding and they both had their eyes on each other. Duke was a strong, handsome and sweet man that loved his sister and her three children. Duke was so afraid Caitlyn would get eaten up in Hollywood, especially when her new and awful boss put her as the fixer for the second worst actor to listen to anyone in Hollywood. I thought it was awesome how she used some of her tricks to get her younger brothers to behave on the actor. It was good and bad that the movie her actor was working on was the same one that Duke had flown to Canada to work on. The ups and downs that went on in her and Dukes relationship was crazy. Plus Duke’s sister Kristy was going through a custody battle for her three children with her ex powerful movie producer. This is such an interesting book that kept me on my toes of what was happening. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great start to Skye Jordan's new series, Xtreme Heroes. I have to say that the characters that were introduced in this one are just as fantastic as the Renegade guys, and I look forward to reading each and everyone of their stories. Noah Hunt, the Snowboarding King, is not only gorgeous, outside, but inside as well. Simply put, he is absolutely fabulous. Julia Bailey, the Queen of Physical Therapists, is one tough cookie. I have to say that in beginning, Julia's attitude was not my favorite and I had a hard time wrapping my mind about the decisions she made, but in the end, whether she went about it the right way or not, she was always looking out for Noah's best interest. Epilogue to this book was superb!! As I alluded to before, I am seriously looking forward to the next book in this series. However, I would like to request, no beg, that the next book is Finn's, Noah's best friend!!
