When Antoinette asked us months ago which book characters from “The Art of Hood Love”series we wanted more from, I instantly said Pierre and Treasure or Took and Tek and even mentioned the same in my series finale review and even tho many others probably told her the same, y’all really got me to thank for this book 🤣😆😅 Lessons were being taught and class was in session in this amazingly penned follow up to one of my favorite series to date!
Pierre was a character you either loved or hated but I saw his potential when folks were counting him out and he really had my heart during this entire read. Pierre was the misguided, misunderstood wild card of the Blaise bunch and after the drama that is his life landed him back in prison he really felt defeated. Now that he’s fresh out, for what he’s certain is the last time, he’s coming to the harsh reality that nothing and everything has changed. While his family has kept him and his mini’s covered during his time away, life has not slowed down. Businesses both old and new are booming, new legal ventures are in the works, engagements and new babies are a clear indication that life has been lifing and P is simply trying to find his place in it all. He feels like a failure when it comes to everything in life except for when it comes to caring for his most prized possessions! He may be a fk up where his parents are concerned but those babies look at him like the Superman he is and that really gave him the motivation needed to fight another day!
Treasure is hurting! After enduring such a devastating blow, she can’t even bask in the joy of finding her long lost sissy. When you lose your everything how do you even move forward with life. Tres was dealing with some heavy grief and no one saw her, like TRULY saw her until she crossed paths with Pierre Blaise! Their meeting was definitely one for the books and her holding him down with absolutely nothing to gain, won over Pierre’s respect and he would forever ride for her based off that alone.
The bond these two created in a world where only them and the mini’s existed was everything. The growth and maturity that Antoinette captured was delivered in a way that only she could! Her writing is unmatched and I will defend her name until my last breath! I laughed, I cried and I was rooting for everybody black! I wanted Pierre to win and I wanted Treasure to win! Their journey was soooo worth the prize and this book absolutely brought joy to my weekend!

When it comes to Urban Fiction/Romance, Antoinette Sherell is in a league of her own. I haven’t picked up a book written by her yet that I haven’t loved. Lessons From A Hidden Treasure was no different.
Big stepper Pierre and his Bird gave me ALL the feels. Treasure was so special- soft spoken but still nothing to play with. The loss of her parents left her having to navigate the world alone but she gained such a beautiful family. When those close to her weren’t able to see her sadness, Pierre saw her. He saved her..in the twenty third hour 🖤 He didn’t just save her- she saved him too. The way she spoke life into him and encouraged him to be better was just 🤌🏾 I really thought this book would be about Lexi wreaking havoc on Pierre and Treasure’s relationship but it was so much more.
If you decide to give this book a read, just remember that it is a part of the Art of Hood Love series.

Forbidden Love
I don't know what I was expecting from this story, but Antoinette said I'm going to give them MORE. She took the mcs small interaction and turned it into the most beautifully complex love story and I loved it!!
Treasure aka Bird was the saddest 19 year old. Life had thrown her for a loop and she was trying to navigate loneliness, new adult responsibilities, while trying not to burden her new found family. She was beautiful and extremely smart but it seemed like she almost wanted to remain invisible. I was extremely worried about her attraction to Pierre, he was a good guy with good intentions, but he had soooo much baggage and I didn't feel like a 19 year old needed to sign up for all that.
Pierre was fresh out and he was trying..... He was trying to take care of his children and baby mothers. He was trying to figure out who was loyal to him, who really was in his corner. He was trying to find his way forward. He was trying to get in the good graces of his parents. The weight of who he was to everyone else was so Heavy on him, to where it felt like he couldn't breathe sometimes. Treasure was a breath of fresh air to him. He knew he shouldn't go there with her, because his life was a mess....but with her he could escape. She looked at him with stars in her eyes and she saw a man no one else saw and it inspired him to be a better father, a better man.
Together Pierre and Treasure had a Forbidden Love. They were fast friends, but the attraction and connection could not be denied. I will say I was like Pierre's parents I didnt feel like he was the right man for Treasure, because she was so young. However, I was wrong. She was definitely his twin flame. He brought out out a confidence, a swagger in her. He also was the only person that took the time to really SEE her and help her address her sadness. Them with the minis just touched my heart. Treasure was so attentive with his babies ❤️. Their movie time was just 😩😩 too sweet. That time allowed them to be safe and vulnerable with one another. Treasure pushed Pierre to be more than his circumstances. To tap into his talent and let go of that fear of failure. He knew that she deserved a different man, and even though he was scared and felt he wasn't worthy he eventually realized he could be what she needed.
I can't close without saying Pierre did Lexi wrong. She was calm in my opinion, because I would've blew all that ish up 🤷🏾♀️ God's working on me. He was absolutely playing in her face and the level of disrespect was wild. He should not have waited for that moment to have that conversation with her.
I'm always on the fence with young adult books, because they are always doing dumb shi*, as expected because they are young. However, some authors do such a good job with the arc of a characters growth and Ms. Antoinette is one of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was nice to get to know Pierre on a more personal level. I loved how Pierre and Treasure meshed well together. But the BIGGEST thing I liked most about this story is how Treasure never gave up on Pierre even when he did flawed things.

The Interlude of a Hidden Treasure
Ayeeee Author Antionette did her thing. She made me fall in love with Treasure aka Ms. Bird and Mr. Pierre “P”. When we first got introduced to them from Savvy and Shabu’s story treasure was this timid hurt human who had gone through trials and Pierre was this wild reckless card both of them lost in the world with their backs at the wall fighting to even float at this point. But they were a match made to meet because their lost souls definitely met crashing full force in each other no stops. I loved getting an insighted update on the crew and family especially savvy, michi, shabu, and titan. Seeing Pierre with his kids is so heartwarming he’s the black men in this world tryna survive from the trenches and statistics feeling like he has no way out stuck and stagnant; but Treasure was the fresh air that showed him he had options to still be on this earth and be a father to his kids with his family by his side. With treasure she’s still grieving and finding who she is while having a second chance at family and is adjusting/ learning this is where Pierre takes her out of her comforting hidden blocks to stop hiding from the world while being unapologetically herself. I just loved how they rooted for each other to win and stop the unhealthy harmful habits they both were doing.
Savvy and Treasure didn’t know they needed each other until they bother were in each other’s lives now treasure is the third musketeer to muchi and savvy’s duo. I very much love that we got more on Shabbu and Pierre’s family and to see the growth of them as a family come together emotionally and financially especially legally 🤣.
Now Pierre’s baby’s moms was Jesus take the wheel PUHLEASE especially Chalise like tell me you not a dead beat mom without telling me you not a deadbeat mom because wtf 😬🥴. I’m so glad Pierre finally got a girl who got her head on her shoulders and the right mindset. All the interactions on the kids with Pierre and Treasure were funny and loving but also so bittersweet.
I very much enjoyed this book a highlight for my 2024 read that I can’t wait for Relic’s story to come out because I can imagine the tea on that now ‼️‼️‼️
P.s. I will forever love Antoinette’s mixing of the Haitian Creole and the culture in this series.

Pierre and Treasure felt as if they had a forbidden love. With Treasure being 19, I felt that Pierre had a lot of baggage, but because of her maturity, she handled it beautifully. Pierre, having recently been released from prison, is attempting to make up for lost time and work things out not only for himself but also for his children. Dealing with the death of her parents and adjusting to life "alone" with this newfound family proved challenging for Treasure. Pierre and Treasure shared an undeniable bond. They truly noticed each other and naturally became each other's safe place, being vulnerable with one another. Treasure had a way of bringing Pierre comfort and making him feel more than his environment. Pierre supported Treasure in processing her grief.
I will admit that I didn't like the conclusion with Lexi; I believe the scenario could have been handled pages ago.... but this book has been my saving grace from the mediocre books I've come across this year.

When I say this book had me in my MF chest , When Antoinette Sherell said we was going to love Pierre NOT ONE LIE WAS TOLD, I always liked him the art of hood love , but seeing him like THIS, THIS!!! The rawness , the realness, being vulnerable, loving just all wrapped in one!! P so complex the internal battle he is fighting with himself , I loved getting to know him on a deeper level !! How he was with his KIDS! Man Top Tier ! & just how P is Period!!! Ugh I just enjoyed this so much!! 🤩 Superstar is in his own lane! Standing 10 Toes down! “Are you rolling or folding”???
I never wanted two people to be Together so bad . Pierre & Treasure the fact they went from strangers to friends to ….. just keep building and the love you can see and can feel HELL from them but they both scared to take the Leap because in their mind it’s going to be end terribly. BUT HOW they rock with one another how the masks came off… when it’s them , how they push one another to the limit I can go on and on!!!! I was a fan of the Art of Hood Love series so I was excited to read about Treasure and Pierre. I love that thus far the males in this series have been forced to take self inventory and realize they need to change things in their lives. Like Savvy, Treasure had things she needed to overcome and strength to discover, all while showing Pierre he was worthy of much more in his life.
I admired her ability to look beyond the fact he had 3 children & 3 baby mamas. Cause babyyyy NOT ME! While I enjoyed the previous books more I love the overall tale of surrendering to LOVE, no matter how hard it seems. I look forward to the next addition to the story to see more of where this Fanmi will go. One things for certain they ride for one another 😏🤣

Antoinette, Antoinette, Antoinette…… She did it again. Fanmi! I thoroughly enjoyed being back in the fold, but this time it was with Pierre & Treasure. Who knew Pierre’s unserious behind could be so multifaceted; that boy had layers underneath that balaclava. Young, wild, and so close to the edge he wasn’t sure he could ever regulate himself enough to pull back when needed. Riddled with anxiety at the mere thought that he would disappoint the ones he loved so deeply. Weighed down by the intense criticisms of those same people kept Pierre in a constant cycle of drug abuse and sex to numb the emotions he fought to conceal. Until he rain across a pretty, broken bird who needed saving just as much as he did.

after reading savvy/shabu’s books, i was super excited to see treasure had her own too!
now treasure, she’s such a pure soul and she only sees the good in people. i love her so much because in some ways, i see myself in her. what some may call young and naive, she sees as her having a big heart for others... and this big heart of hers leads her to falling for the baddest bad boy in the fold (not one word of a lie, the girls know 🤣)
now pierre. all imma say is, this man is MESSY (with a capital M.) this man has baby mama’s all around the shop, and doesn’t believe in falling in love… until he finds himself falling for the long lost sister who becomes his hidden treasure. 🥹🫶🏽🥰
these two have my whole heart!
the way they were able to break down each others’ walls and really see through the masks just shows how they are really meant to be. true twin flames, i am so in love with them! they have me out here singing mint condition like no tomorrow AHAHAHA iykyk 😉😅 but bro, when we first got the easter eggs that pierre and treasure were gonna become something, idk what i expected - but i know it wasn't this. this book exceeded my expectations, i just loved all of it sm!! 🥰

I teared up more than once and was so worried that things were not going to come together how I was imagining.

Pierre & Treasure’s story gave me all the feels 🥰🥰🥰 At first I’m like Pierre got too much going on with his 3 kids and 3 baby mommas 😵💫 Treasure run girlll. You are too young to be dealing with all of that. But as the story went on I was getting butterflies in my stomach when they were lol loved this book downnnn!

Pierre and Treasure always confused me because I never saw how she would fit into his reality. All along he needed her the most to change his reality! I loved how the chapters were labeled lessons and each lesson built off the other to the next chapter! Treasure's pure spirit to see the best in everyone and build them up was so good and Pierre hated it when it wasn't him on the receiving end lol. Treasure not stopping her life for Pierre made me root for her harder because Pierre had to choose to grow up and be better for not only her but for the minis too! Which I loved the minis! This growth of Treasure and Pierre was so good and I'm honestly excited to see where they are in the next book! Pierre isn't feeling left behind and weighed down anymore. Treasure is no longer alone. Nothing to lose and everything to gain….they gained it all! I'm looking forward to the next book because Relic has some truths that will shake everything up and one of his newest business ventures is risk by that very truth. I can't wait!!!

Antoinette did it again! This was great! The excitement of growth from Pierre and Treasure was absolutely rewarding. There was not one dull moment in this book. It was so good to see Pierre become more than the women & food. His love, patience, and attentiveness for his "Bird" were everything. Witnessing Treasure healing & and learning to love, while being the very thing someone else needed, was a beautiful journey that came full circle. This is a highly recommended read! 💐💚💛💜🎉

I don’t even know where to start because I have so many emotions from reading this. I honestly have to say that I loved it more than I did Shabu and Savvy 🫣 (ion wanna tussle)
Treasure was heartbroken and sad feeling as if she didn’t have anyone until Pierre came into her life. They were made for each other and it took Pierre taking off his “mask “ to show Treasure who he really was. I did kind of wish that he didn’t have to break Lexi’s heart but they were done and been done. I felt so bad for Paris because his mammy wasn’t 💩. She had so many options and she went with the latter because she thought it was gonna be different 😒 child motherhood is HARD. She thought it was gonna be a breeze and it proved her wrong but that skipping appointments was bs.
📌Anywho Two fingers. We tap ‘em twice to the front, once on the back, and then we lock it in.” My favorite thing from this book. Something for them that nobody else understood but them and I loved that for them (2.03)

I absolutely loved this book! The way the two met was unconventional but they are definitely “Twin Flames”!
After how my boy was acting up in The Art of Hood Love I ain’t know if he was gonna get it right. But Pierre Blaise got it right. I thought I knew him but I didn’t.
The fact he “listened”
everything about Treasure his “lil Bird “he did not forget. !
They both struggled for different reasons but they were each others peace.
Watching Prince in daddy mode I ate it up. He definitely was a 🔫 but when he’s with his babies or helping Treasure with her hair he just had me in my 🥹.
I loved everything from th nicknames, the “movies” 23, and the two finger handshake. The way the relationship blossomed from the beginning to end was everything.
This was so worth the wait I can’t wait to see what Relic has in store for us.

This is chaotic family that I actually love.
Treasure and P were definitely twin flames. I appreciated that they didn’t connect physically right away. They truly vibed and got to know each other first. Their escape to the movies was precious. I wish there had been more mention of that throughout the story. Especially since the party was themed around that.
For me, it felt like a lot was happening but nothing at the same time.
My biggest gripe was the timeline. It was February for way too long. While I’m all for inclusion, it felt unnecessary for baby Paris to be deaf. I anticipated more around Pierre being a father and transitioning to being the sole parent for Paris. It was a such a huge deal initially but then it just went away. I also didn’t understand why they got him a hearing aid if the doctor said it wouldn’t actually help. That didn’t make sense, nor did waiting until he was 1 to figure out what they would do. Thank God for Tima.
Treasure being tech savvy caught me by surprise. I couldn’t recall mention of that before the website design and the the visual for P’s song.
I love love love that the family is finding ways to make legit money through legit businesses. More restaurants, salon, tattoo, record labels etc. using their gifts to get out the game, love it .
I’m shocked and annoyed that Lexi didn’t pay more attention. Pierre rattled off what he puts on a sausage and acknowledged her eating habits. Ma’am how do you think he knows that. Why on earth would he give her a nickname just off the strength of her being savvy ‘s sister. Open those eyes little lady, you can’t even bring yourself to hold his other children. You were never going to be the one. 🤣😂🤣

What a great story!!! I want to dub this author as my go-to for feel good yet realistic urban fiction. Her storytelling skills are bar none, far exceeds the expectations. I love the pairing of Pierre and Treasure and watching them evolve under the blossoming of their love were beautiful to behold. Those two deserved to be loved! I am looking forward to reading more from this author!!! Well done!

When I picked up Lessons From a Hidden Treasure: An Interlude, I didn’t know what to expect since when I read the Art of Hood Love: The Finale, so much of Babygirl aka Treasure’s story was related to how her and Savvy being their relationship as sisters. The small glimpse of how she and Pierre become intertwined with one another was such a small glimpse of their story in this book was SO MUCH MORE!
Treasure - If there was one thing that I truly admired about Treasure was her ability to see the best in everyone, but also challenge them when they needed to be challenged when it came to their ways of thinking. Though she was young and quiet, Treasure possessed a lot of knowledge and edge that I think we can all credit to her parents doing.
Pierre - Oh, my sweet boy! If you read the Art of Hood Love series then you are familiar with Pierre and his shenanigans. Although Pierre was still on bs at times, I will say that it was nice to watch Pierre grow and become the man he needed to be for his children. To go from being in the streets, mad, anxious, wanting to be loved by those closest to you, to rewriting your own story simply because someone loved you and believed in you and your talent was so good.
Though Bird and Pierre were for sure twin flames it bothered the hell outta me all the time when they fought or just couldn’t get together. The passion these two had for each other was something else.
My favorite parts:
- The first time they went to the movies.
- Pierre’s love for his children.
- Treasure getting her lick back against Chalise.
- Pierre braiding Treasure’s hair.
- The first studio session.
- ASL representation.
- Treasures birthday party.
- Akon and Pierre finally mending their relationship.
It was so nice to see how Treasure’s relationship developed with Savvy, and especially Shabu. You couldn’t tell me he didn’t love his sister in law.
The cameos from Toot, Tima, Los, Nu, Tek, Kennedy, and everyone else were an added bonus. I will say that I’m interested in Toot/Tek and Tima’s stories now.
I know the blue eyed monster we’ll be getting his own story soon *crosses fingers,* but I really wanted more of Relic. I know he was focusing on him and getting to the bag, but damn. Also, what’s going on now with him and KenDog?

This is my first book by the author, and I can genuinely say that I didn’t want to stop reading once besides laughing so hard. I really liked the way that Treasure and Pierre confided in each other and opened up about their struggles with their mental health. Pierre might be a ladies’ man, but he was a damn good father, and that’s one of the reasons that I liked him so much because even with struggling with things personally, he never let it overshadow taking care of his kids and his children’s mothers. I liked that Treasure found a family in her sister’s husband/best friend/twin flames family. I would love a continuation of their story because I felt like 80% of the book was them trying to find themselves.

When comes to Pierre, SHEESH
I sat on this one trying to find the right words to sum it up. Pierre and Treasure have my heart. I was apprehensive at first because of how little I knew about his character. The only thing I knew from the previous books was that he had a bunch of kids and he needed to grow up. In this book I was able to see who he really was. I absolutely loved him. I love to see a man step about his girl. It didn’t matter if it was Jay or Shabu. Pierre ain’t play no games when it came to her. I liked that at first he didn’t want to hurt Treasure because he knew he wasn’t ready to be with her. When it got to the point where he couldn’t hold back his feelings anymore they were locked in. The way Treasure could see the weight of the world on Pierre’s shoulders yet she was able to provide him a place to be himself and talk out his fears. CHEF’s KISS. They were absolutely perfect for each other.
TOP NOTCH storytelling from Antoinette Sherell but at this point I know what to expect.
I sat on this one trying to find the right words to sum it up. Pierre and Treasure have my heart. I was apprehensive at first because of how little I knew about his character. Not this being the best book in the seriesssss🙂↕️ I loved this one so much. Pierre and Treasure for sure stole my heart—to the point where I didn’t even care about all the kids and baby mamas this man has 😭✌🏾👌🏾
