Vampire Knitting Club #15

Cables and Conjurers

Rate this book
Mystery A Paranormal Puzzle

Lucy Swift, witch and knitting shop owner, thought her biggest challenge at a marketing course in Oxford would be untangling the enigma of consumer behavior, not a murder mystery. But amid the hallowed halls, someone is weaving a deceptive web that leaves Lucy second-guessing her senses. It's all fun and games until a corpse appears in her dormitory, silent and still—definitely not an illusion.

Now, with her best friend Jennifer and her black cat familiar Nyx at her side, Lucy must stitch together clues with the help of her nocturnal companions, the vampire knitting club, who are more adept at needles than neck-biting. Can Lucy and friends solve this crime, or will the killer strike again, leaving only silence and secrets in their wake?

Embark on a bewitching tale of twists, turns, and turmoil where the line between charming spells and chilling crimes is as fine as a strand of yarn. "Cables and Conjurers" is a self-contained paranormal cozy mystery, laced with humor and a knotty plot that promises to keep you guessing—and giggling—until the very end. No sex or gore, just good clean murderous fun.

Left a lot of questions

This continuation of the vampire knitting series seems rushed and unfinished. I spotted the killer almost immediately. The conjurer side story made no sense. What about the shop owner dishonest about her natural ingredients? We never got the story on that. By the way, " Call the Midwife" is set in the late 50's and 60's, not WWII. Sloppy research and appears to have been written in a hurry.

Cables and Conjurers is Book 15 in the Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren.

I was so excited for a new book in this series. This is such a great book.
It is so nice to see Lucy and Rafe as a married couple.

Lucy and her bestie Jen are going to take a class in Oxford to help with marketing both knitting shops.

I loved the description of the buildings and the dorm. It is clear the author did her research.
I felt transported to the college.

Unfortunately, while there one of the students is murdered and Lucy and the gang are investigating.

I loved catching up with the Vampire Knitting Club and all the secondary characters that are anything but secondary.

Love this series SO much!!!

It hurts my heart a bit to write this, as I absolutely ADORE the Vampire Knitting Club series. I was dying for this book to come out. I felt like this wasn't nearly as good as the rest of the series. It felt different. Lucy felt a bit different..since marrying Rafe and into money, she seems a bit more materialistic to me. I was just really bored with the whole marketing thing.. it felt like I was taking a class on it with the in depth explanation of terms and such. I don't know. I really struggled through this one, very much to my surprise. I still love all of the characters and this series, so I will still anxiously await the next book.

I liked this more than i liked in Want of a Knife. The body wasn't found until about halfway through the book, but it didn't really annoy me. Though im sure it would annoy others. I'm also 15 books and 2 short stories into this series. And because of this series. read 9 great witches baking show books plus a short story. 5 books into the vampire book club series. 4 books into the Village Flower Shop series. And 1 of the vampire knitting club: Cornwall books. I still need to read book 2. I'm in deep at this point you'll might not be able to trust my judgment on this series. I'm too forgiving with it. I'm less forgive with Warren's side series. Took me a while to get into the village flower shop. Hated the ending to great witches baking show. And The most recent vampire book club book annoyed me. But It was nice to get back to lucy. The conjurer side plot has little to do with anything. I think it was there just for the title pun. The murderer was obvious...so of course I missed it. I think this book is setting up the next book in the Cornwall series

Cables and Conjurers (Vampire Knitting Club #15) by Nancy Warren
Publisher: Ambleside Publishing
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers, Fantasy
Expected Publication Date: June 5, 2024

Cables and Conjurers is the 15th book in the Vampire Knitting Club series by Nancy Warren. It can be read as a standalone cozy mystery, but I recommend binge reading the whole series because it is so amazing!

Reading this book felt like coming home to an old friend. From page one, I knew that I would not stop reading until I reached the end of the book. So, I curled up with a giant cup of hot coffee and read about Lucy and those around her. I loved that Lucy got to spend some time with her best friend, Jen. They are so fun together!

This is a fast-paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat. As much as I wanted to know who the killer was, I didn't want it to end! Of course, I loved the characters, but the mystery is what kept me turning the pages. I had to know who did it…and it was a doozy!

If you enjoy cozy mysteries or anything paranormal, I totally recommend this book! The characters are great and the story is so interesting! This is one of those books you won't be able to put down!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Vampire Knitting Club fans, guess what time it is? It's time for a new Vampire Knitting Club Mystery and this one is a super one! Remember back in the day with the Baby-Sitters Club books and then the "Super" books that came out as well? Well this mystery feels like a "Super" one because it's both Lucy and Jennifer getting together to solve a crime!

Lucy and Jennifer are spending a few days together at Saint Benedict's College to learn marketing techniques to help their two knitting shops. However, when one of the students ends up dead [in Lucy's room no less], the girls put the marketing aside and start sleuthing!

I LOVE this series, like LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Last year I devoured all of Nancy Warren's mysteries and I've been [im]patiently waiting for a new mystery. If a mystery series could be a spirit animal, then it would mine. Lucy Swift inherited her grandmother's knitting shop, is learning to become a witch and lives in Oxford. What's not to love? Oh did I mention the knitting vampires? Because that's the best bit!

When we last left Lucy she was newly married to Rafe Crosier and settling into married life. Now she's taking a course and solving a crime, as she does. I loved that this one took her away from the shop and featured heavily on marketing her small shop. As a small business owner myself, I've enjoyed watching Lucy's journey in retail and this one was especially interesting as they delve into different marketing techniques, which get tied into the story.

The mystery was a clever whodunnit. I managed to pick up the carefully placed clues and solve it before Lucy and Jennifer, but only just.

All of my favourite vampires were back to help solve the crime, and I absolutely loved visiting with them! If there could be such a thing as "cozy vampires" then the Vampire Knitting Club is definitely cozy! I love how they have all taken Lucy in as one of their own and the close bond they have.

If you like supernatural cozy mysteries, then this series needs to be on your list! I listened to the first 14 of the series on audio, and the narration on all of Nancy Warren's books is just superb. Whether it's print or audio, this is one series that needs to be on your summer reading list.

Cables and Conjurers: book 15 in this very addictive and magical cosy mystery series - The Vampire Knitting club

It doesn’t matter if you’re a knitter or not, human or vampire, a witch or even a mage, this series is a delight for many lovers of this genre. You know a series is no just good but wonderful if after 15 books, you’re still praying more will come. And this is absolutely the case with The Vampire Knitting Club series! It’s a feel good read, that comes with the perfect combo of magic, friendship, love and mystery!

In this 15th book, Lucy and her best friend Jennifer are in for a treat as they venture into Oxford University to be students there for the first time, even if it’s just for a couple of days during a marketing workshop. What they don’t know is that they have signed up for more then marketing classes as one of the students is found dead. In this new mystery, Lucy will have to see beyond illusions and possible marketing strategies to find out and really see who had something to hide and to gain from this horrible senseless murder.

I was looking forward to read this book, and truly enjoyed this new mystery Lucy and the gang had to solve together. Reading this series is a true treat for me, as I in fact do with all of Nancy Warren’s series by the way! Can’t wait for Nancy’s next book!

This series is an absolute favorite of mine, especially via audiobook, and this book is no exception. I love that Lucy's best friend, Jennifer, is now living in Cornwall and running the second yarn shop. The author makes each mystery more creative and detailed than the last one which inevitably leads me to think that the current read is my favorite of the series. LOL, if you go back through my reviews of the series, I'm sure that you will find multiple times where I have said this book is my favorite of the series.....then I read the next book and say it again! This book definitely fits the series with multiple suspects and ample breadcrumbs to follow if you pay close enough attention to details. I also absolutely love how the characters personal stories are so integrated throughout the storyline to create more depth and interest. Great character development, entertaining and detailed storylines and superb narration on the audiobooks all make for an outstanding reading or listening experience. You do need to start with the first book and read your way through in order for the best understanding and maximum enjoyment. The Cornwall spinoff fits in between the books into this original series extremely well.

Cables and Conjurers by Nancy Warren
The Vampire Knitting Club Series Book Fifteen
Lucy Swift Crosyer, now a happily married woman, is heading to college. She went to Saint Benedict College for a marketing course with her best friend, Jennifer. It’s only a few days, but they will stay at one of the Oxford colleges and eat breakfast in the Great Hall. After living in Oxford, Lucy will finally experience what so many in the town do…Oxford as a college student.
Rafe has business away from home but warns her to be careful since trouble always seems to find her. And, of course, it did. Someone dies, and the body is in her dorm room. She can’t catch a break. Well, she’ll make the best of it, and along with Jennifer and the vampire knitting club, they’ll investigate and try to figure out who murdered this person.
It’s fun revisiting Oxford and the vampires that are still there. Not to mention Lucy, Rafe, William, Nyx, and Henri the peacock.

A charming mix of magic, mystery, and modem cables!

Nancy Warren has once again delivered a delightful cozy mystery, and Cables and Conjurers is a clever, whimsical addition to her world of witches and sleuths. The protagonist—savvy, magically inclined, and tech-fluent—finds herself caught in a web of spells and secrets that kept me turning pages (or, more accurately, tapping my Kindle) well into the night.

The fusion of modern tech and traditional witchcraft is fresh and engaging. I especially loved how Warren weaves the magical and mundane together—ethernet cables and enchanted amulets somehow make perfect sense in the same sentence. The mystery is well-paced, the red herrings are effective, and there’s just enough romance and humor to lighten the darker moments.

Fans of the Vampire Knitting Club series will appreciate the familiar tone, though this new book stands on its own with a unique flair. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a supernatural twist and strong, quirky heroines, Cables and Conjurers is absolutely worth the read.

Why is it over so soon? It was such a welcome relief when Libby shared with me that they are now carrying Nancy Warren's books, including this latest addition to the Vampire Knitting Club. These books are so much fun! With all that is going on in the world, one needs a good escape.

No, you don't need to know anything about knitting. After all, the yarn store owner, Lucy Swift, knows only enough to get in trouble. Nor do many vampire rules apply in these books. Hence, the fun of the club that meets after the store closes.

I think my only issue with any of these books is the murder that must be solved. But somehow, we've grown cozy with folks being killed. Besides, it does keep the story going.

Nancy Warren's writing, including her fantastic sense of humor make these stories perfect. Sarah Zimmerman (Narrator) knows how to relate the scenes flawlessly.

Sadly, I'm finished with the series. I must seek out more of Nancy Warren books! Please, if you need a lightweight read, look for this Vampire Knitting series.

What fun to return to Lucy’s world!
In her latest work, Ms. Warren’s achieves a delicate balance within the newly married couple’s relationship with Lucy pursuing her own interests while also cherishing her closeness with Rafe and trusting him to be protective of her safety but not overly smothering. Lucy still is the same somewhat self-deprecating (albeit realistic in appraising her limited knitting skills!) genuinely nice person who appreciates her good fortune in both love and work while continuing to seek ways to improve her business skills. Hence Lucy’s decision to take a course on how to enhance the marketing of her knitting shops. Unfortunately for her, marketing tips are rudely shoved aside by the murder of someone in Lucy’s class. With the help of her friends and acquaintances, the dirt on the murderer is dug up. Highly recommended!

Although it was my pleasure to receive this ARC from the author, it was completely my choice to share my honest review.

A new Vampire Knitting Club book is always eagerly anticipated. This addition to the series is no different. Lucy and her bestie, Jennifer, are enrolled in a weekend marketing course at Oxford University, fulfilling Lucy’s dream of attending Oxford. The group consists of several people who have experience and one guy who seems very out of place. But he isn’t the victim. Geoff, a seemingly charming participant, ends up dead and hidden in Lucy’s room stuffed in the small closet. Is someone trying to frame Lucy? Did someone hate the know it all Geoff enough to kill him? The vampires decide to get involved with a bit of their own investigations. It’s a race for Lucy and the others to solve the murder before the weekend ends and the participants scatter. Nancy Warren’s worlds of witches and vampires are. Continuing to enthrall and delight readers. If you like paranormal cozies, these are for you.

This is the 15th book of this series and Nancy Warren doesn’t disappoint.

Lucy is now a married woman, has now 2 shops one in Oxford and the other in Cornwall. Her BFF Jennifer (fellow witch) runs the second location. She an Jennifer opted to take a marketing course to see how they can streamline the two shops and also have some time to hang out as besties.

Several quirky small business owners are present to see what they too can do to improve their respective businesses. Some bad vibes and a dead guy in Lucy’s dorm room makes for an interesting spin to this marketing course.

Lucy and Jennifer call a meeting with the vampire knitting club to see if they can find out who killed their fellow marketing student. Throw in a conjurer that makes an odd request of Lucy and Rafe and things seem to get curiouser and curiouser.

I swear I had it figured out on the killer but man Nancy Warren threw me for a loop on this one. Definitely worth the read!

Cables and Conjurers is the latest book in the fabulous Vampire Knitting Club series. It can be read as a delightful stand alone but I definitely recommend the previous books for background history as there is a gentle, ongoing story throughout the series.

Lucy and best friend Jennifer are taking a short live-in course at Oxford University to help with their marketing skills. Strange things start happening before they even get to their first lecture and it is not long before they need the help of their friends in the Vampire Knitting Club. Nyx is of course on hand too.

This book has everything you want from this series. The characters are fabulous, whether new or recurring and each fit perfectly into the story. The storyline itself is good and flows nicely without being predictable. Overall this is a terrific cozy mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a long time fan of this series I definitely recommend this book.

This is my favorite series written by Nancy Warren and I must say she needs to write these a little faster! In this book, Lucy and her BFF, Jennifer, take a marketing class at one of Oxford's many colleges. The group is a mixed bag--a dancer, a married couple that owns a travel company, a wine seller, and a rude, grumpy tech shop owner. The class is taught by two professors--a female marketing guru and a stodgy old man. Lucy and Jen find his book and his ways boring. There is something else going on--Lucy is seeing monkeys romping in the air and finds she is the only one who sees them. Turns out a conjuror is trying to get her attention so that she can ask Rafe to help him find a book he co-wrote with a friend.
As always, I am happy to spend time with the Vampire Knitting Club. I also wish Jennifer would get another book, as she only has one.
I was totally wrong over who murdered one of the students, although I usually am. Fun, quick read.

Vampire knitting book 15

This is # 15 in the Vampire Knitting Club Series. It can be read as a stand alone but is more enjoyable if read starting from book #1 where you get a feel for Oxford and the lively characters who become your friends.
Lucy initially came to Oxford to find that her beloved grandmother has died and left her a knitting shop .
Now Lucy has 2 shops and her best friend Jennifer is running the Cornwall shop. They are going to have a great time catching up and attending a conference together in Oxford.
But nothing is ever that simple or uncomplicated where Lucy is concerned.
From the minute the conference starts unexplicable things happen to and around Lucy including a death.
And of course she gets involved in the thick of it all and needs her friends to help her out.
It was a nice easy to read .

This is a delightful addition to the wonderful Vampire Knitting Club series! It can be read as a standalone, but I think it is much more enjoyable if you already have a relationship with the great characters.

Lucy is excited to attend Oxford University, even if it's only for a short marketing course. As usual, anytime Lucy is away from her vampire husband, Rafe, she seems to be drawn into a murder mystery. Once again, she finds herself relying on her friend, Jennifer, and her Vampire Knitting Club friends to solve the mystery of whodunit!

I enjoyed the side stories that the author has put in the book and look forward to more in future books. If you enjoy a well-written cozy mystery, with great characters, a bit of magic, vampires, and/or knitting, you will love this book (as well as the rest of this author's books).

I was excited to read the next instalment in this series which has been one of my favourite cute, cozy series but this book was not very good. The premise was boring and the first half of the book is just over explanation (more for people who haven’t read the rest of the series?), boring marketing/conference talk and no vampires, no actual knitting or knitting club, nothing. The murder happens after the halfway point and it’s always someone kinda nasty so you don’t particularly care if you find out who did it or why, you really only get a few scenes with the vampires and then it’s done. The side story about the conjurer falls completely flat and only loosely ties in to the main story with a flimsy “connection” right at the end. This book felt like a rush writing job just to get another book out and was super disappointing.

I’m so excited to read another Vampire Knitting Club book after a long hiatus. I really missed these characters. Lucy and her friend Jen are taking a seminar at a local college. They get to stay in the rooms and have breakfast in the college. The seminar is on marketing and the two hope to gain a bit of knowledge from this workshop. Rafe is away on business. There’s just a small group taking the course with two teachers one specializing in social media and other a college professor. It an interesting group of small businesses, a wine shop, knitting shop, electronics, and more. Unfortunately before the seminar is over, there’s a murder. Lucy involves her usual group of vampires to help in the solving of this mystery.

I love, love, loved this book. Don’t miss it!

How wonderful to see Lucy again even if her special marketing course at Oxford does end up including a murder mystery to be solved. Cables and Conjurers: Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren is a fine story with Lucy, Jennifer and cat, Nyx working overtime to help catch a killer. Of course, the vampire knitting club is available when more help is needed. Then there is always Rafe ready to show up whenever his wife needs him.

A lovely story of the happily married couple who still love their work and are able to sometimes consult each other. Grand, really. Be sure to catch up with Lucy, Rafe, new and old friends in Cables and Conjurers.

Good as always

I waited to read this book and read pretty promptly. As always the characters take their own place in each book, join together to solve a murder.
One howler however. Call the Midwife the BBC tv series starts in the late 50s, into the 60s. Nowhere near WWII. So that is incorrect. I'm sure other people who watch the programme are aware of that.
I had no idea who done it, I'd love a TV series of this but if it wasn't as good as the books then it would be a shame.
I love these books, easy to read, no gore or bad scenes to get into your head.
As usual highly recommended. And a long wait til the next book.
