Bully Boys: Fresh

It all started with a dare…

Logan isn't a man used to losing. It's what makes him a star player both on and off the field.

Playing for his university football team, joining his dad's fraternity, hooking up with girls at every party? Yeah, he's living his best life.

But when one stupid prank goes wrong, suddenly it's all on the line. Coach's ultimatum is loud and clear: turn his reputation around, or say goodbye to everything Logan's worked so hard for.

The good news: Logan knows just the guy to help him fix it all.

The bad news? After bullying the nerd all through high school, now Oz hates Logan's guts.

Oz's terms are simple: If Logan wants Oz's help, he's not just going to have to beg for it.

He's going to have to kneel…

"You help me bring my grades up," Logan began, closing his eyes as if not being able to see meant he could dodge the tackle headed his way. "And I'll — I'll let you, uh, do stuff to me."
After being read the riot act by his coach, hapless himbo Logan turns to his gay roommate Oz for help to buckle down and focus on finding the right balance between the football team and his college classes. But after four years of high school bullying, Oz is only interested in helping Logan if he can be an extremely ‘hands on’ tutor. ”Anything you want, any way you want, any time you want…” Logan's only real rule is no penetration, which doesn't exclude much.
"Feels good," Logan mumbled despite himself as he relaxed into the sensations, his eyelids fluttering closed.
"Yeah? You like it when I touch you like this?" Oz asked, his voice husky and rough as his slick hand gave Logan's cock a few gentle pumps, before returning to slide a hard knuckle up and down the valley of his ass.
"No," Logan lied, shifting his feet wider. He flinched at the open-handed slap to his ass, wet and loud in the tiny tiled room.
"Tell me the truth, Logan," Oz warned.
I liked the way this book defied stereotypes… was it pretty porny and sex focused? Yes. Yes it was 😍😍 But it was also quite sweet and the author makes a point of dealing with any potential dub con moments very quickly. Oz isn’t interested in forcing Logan, and right from the beginning Logan is extremely into Oz, even if he doesn’t feel comfortable admitting it right away. Logan isn’t a stereotypical meathead jock top, and Oz isn’t the nerdy bottom you’d expect. The two find their own relationship, their way, and I enjoyed reading it. The book was really sweet and I don't think enemies to lovers is a great fit... while Oz has valid reason to dislike Logan, what he doesn't know is that Logan is so bumbling and clueless he had no idea he was a villain in Oz's story. Is inadvertent, circumstantial bullying a thing? (e.g, Logan spills his drink on Oz, but it was because someone bumped into him) The malicious intent wasn't there so it's all kind of a hilarious misunderstanding that ends up working out well in the end.

There were a few things left unexplored in the book that I was hoping would be delved into a little more (Logan taking away his ‘no penetration’ rule, for one!) so for me, the book felt a little rushed and unfinished at the end. While Logan’s character was very well developed, I wanted a bit more from Oz, who was more opaque throughout the book. The side character Walter reminded me of Arthur Abbott from The Holiday, an absolute scene stealer! Overall I felt like I was reading a serial that didn't quite flesh out each side plot, and didn't end in the way I'd hoped/expected (there is a HEA though!). I'll be on the lookout for the next book in the series for sure!

My favourite part of the book was when Oz sought out Logan to cuddle because he'd had a bad day.... it was just the sweetest thing. Oh and this book has sharing which actually contributes to some interesting character development and doesn't feel out of place at all. Please don't give a crappy review... skip the book if you aren't a fan of 2 people who aren't in a relationship per se bringing in a third.

"You help me bring my grades up," Logan began, closing his eyes as if not being able to see meant he could dodge the tackle headed his way. "And I'll — I'll let you, uh, do stuff to me."

Bully Boys is the first book in the Men of Minotuar House series by new-to-me author C.J. Pines and this is Oz and Logan's story (noting that the GR blurb is totally wrong and is promoting book 2 in the series).

There really wasn't any bully romance at play here, with the title reference relating to previous high school bullying between the MMCs, so I found this one much more of a light and fluffy, bi-awakening, nerd/jock romance, rather than the dark themed enemies-to-lovers type of read that I was expecting. I enjoyed it nonetheless and Logan and Oz were very cute (and steamy!) together.

What To Expect:

❣️MM college romance
❣️Bi-awakening
❣️Steamy first times
❣️MMM scenes
❣️No cheating
❣️Nerd/jock
❣️Room-mates
❣️HEA

I love picking a random read with little to no reviews and finding it to be a dang delight!! This started off in a way that had me alllllmost not giving it a fair shot - there is annoying frat boy homophobia straight out the gate - BUT then once the action starts between our guys I was in it! I really loved how the author took this rather kinky:straight up porn premise and added a bit of realism in hoe Oz was determined to get Logan’s consent all the way through and kept checking in with him as well. This was a very fun and sweet read - there was a threesome with an aro friend that I would normally not have enjoyed but the author once again managed to make it a really fun and spicy yet silly bit that had me really liking Eli and yet not feeling like he was intruding on Oz and Logan. I’m definitely looking forward to the 2nd book. This whole idea of reverse bully was a new one for me and this one was a refreshingly unexpected treat between books that I was told were 5⭐️ but were kinda meh 🫤 for me. This will be a good read for anyone that enjoyed Love in a Truck Stop Bathroom - basically taking a classic porny premise but adding like and sweetness to it to make it a good ass time

Dnf’d at 23%

Making a romantic lovestory out of a former bully and its victim isn’t an easy thing to do. With that said I was open and ready to turn a blind to their past but everything happened too quickly and too rushed and I was so annoyed that I had to dnf.

The book is about two college roommates, Logan and Oz, who hate each other. Oz for legitimate reasons as he was getting bullied in high school by Logan. After a "misunderstanding" at a party (which in my opinion was a ridiculous misunderstanding) Oz is ready to kick Logan’s ass when suddenly Logan proposes an idea: help him study to not fail his classes and Oz can do with him what he wants. Literally.

If only Oz wasn’t a pathetic victim of the dazzling charms of Logan (yes, sarcasm) then maybe he would’ve had enough integrity for himself to kick him in his butt and walk away. Unfortunately he immediately caved in and slobbered all over Logan like a starved man. I couldn’t take it. Have some self-respect, Oz…

Noooo this one def wasn’t for me and I won’t continue the series.

Honestly, I didn't know what to think about this book at the start. I struggled with the first couple of chapters and the way Logan acted was not great, but in a way I understand, he's a freshman in college, we can't really expect him to be mature. Logan felt really callous with the things he said and how he acted, but again, I feel like his age was really showing, so I have to commend the author for the authenticity.
Logan strikes a deal with Oz in exchange for Oz tutoring him to get his grades up and keep his place on the football team. Per their deal Oz can have him whenever, however he wants, with some stipulations. Honestly, I loved that Oz tried to do everything in his power to make it sure that Logan was okay with what he was proposing. I loved him always checking in with Logan, being sure he was always on board. I'm not gonna lie, these two together are really hot!
While I struggled at the start, as the story progressed I started enjoying it more and more. It was interesting to see their relationship progress, and I really enjoyed seeing their dynamic and how everything worked out.

I would have liked to see more of their future and what they do about the fraternity being as it was, but maybe we'll see more of that in the second book of this series.

Definitely worth a try if you like bully romances, second chances in a way, consent being asked at every turn and good communication.

This book honestly surprised me. I knew what the premise was but I did not expect to love it as much as I did. I absolutely adored Oz as a character. I don't think I would be as kind as he was to my high school bully. This did end up being a really fun read though I'm not sure I would want to read about any of the rest of the guys since they were just all awful to Oz.

This book was fun. I don't have strong feelings about it really, but i think if you are looking for a cute, spicy, and relatively quick read between a nerd and a jock with some surprisingly really wholesome and hopeful moments and solid humor at times, then i think you should give this one a read.

story of Logan and Oz

This is an enemies to more romance, featuring Logan and Oz, and is book one in the Bully Boys (Men of Minotaur House) Fresh series.

Logan is a college football star whose life falls apart after a prank goes wrong, and now he must fix his image or lose everything. His only chance is Oz—the guy he used to bully—who won’t make helping him easy.

This story was fantastic. The indecent proposal of trading tutoring for doing anything Oz wants to Logan quickly escalated into one of the funniest fight for dominance/gay chicken scenes I think I have ever read, at one point I was snort laughing. But then the story moved into these two guys exploring their dom/sub vibes and Logan having a bi awakening. The other guys in the frat weren’t that nice, but they didn’t overpower the story.

Highly recommend this one.

Ps. Love the cover!

To be honest, I wanted to put the book down several times. You have to get used to the narrative style first, because it is a bit diffrent and I had my problems with it until the end. The story itself is good and sometimes really hot, which is great. But there were also some parts where I just thought that even though this part is important for the story, it's a bit too much of a good thing.
Logan struggles with the label all the time and I can understand that. But at some point you have to put the brakes on and admit that there might be something there. I mean, the part with Oz and Eli would have been great with a "hello, are you awake, straight boy?", but I just feel like something is missing.
I also think it's a balancing act that Oz goes so far and so much with him. He's openly gay and living it, but then he gets involved in this? Not only does it sound risky in terms of heartbreak, but it is.
So what's my conclusion? Difficult. Logan isn't really the fast type, I thought Oz was really cute and others I would have liked to hit on the twelve, the story and its course are okay, but ... And that brings me to the sticking point. I always have the "but" in my head, no matter what positive aspects I highlight. The story definitely has potential, the narrative style is different but not bad, but it could be more polished and fluid. Some parts drag, and by drag I mean really drag. It's not that nothing happens, but there's not enough to carry the story and it's a bit boring.
If you read for entertainment and to pass the time, this might be great for you, hence 3.75 stars, which I'm happy to round up to four.

Oh. My. Word! Get ready for a very hot gay romance…
Loved the premise of this book. Definitely interesting way to initiate a first-time, gay-for-him scenario and then to add the fact that they had a hostile relationship in high school just put this book in a whole new category. I am now looking forward to the next standalone story in this series.
Logan St. James is a red shirt freshman on the football team at their university. Because Logan’s father had been in the Mu Tau Rho fraternity, Logan is considered a legacy and as such does not need to go through pledge week. That is when Logan notices that Wally Mercer, his high school nemesis was pledging. Logan tells a junior who is showing him around that Wally shouldn’t have to do it either because his father was a fraternity brother in his day. Logan finds out that the fraternity wants him out and Logan unconsciously gives the ammunition they use against him.
The fraternity brothers give Logan and Oz (formerly Wally) the room far away from the others. When Logan is given an ultimatum, he only sees one solution. Will Oz go along with it? Little does Logan know, his whole life will be turned on its head from that decision. Loved it! If you like your well-written gay romance with over-the-top intimate scenes, you will need to read this book. This story had more than enough provocative moments. My Kindle was burning hot! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

Filthy and Sweet

Jock bullies nerd. Jock needs nerd's help. Jock is now at nerd's mercy. Nerd isn't going to go easy on him...

This MM reverse bully rom-com was a lighthearted, fun heated, smut filled time with an unexpected sweetness that was surprisingly heartwarming. I had no idea how much I would enjoy this book. I wasn't sure at the beginning, but by chapter 6, man did it pull me in and keep me thouroughly entertained by these guys, and they're shenanigans.

Logan and Oz really grew on me as the story developed, and I really loved how their seemingly opposite personalities complemented one another. They really were so sweet and fun together.
Logan truly was the sweetest dum-dum there ever was. And Oz, this unassuming nerdy guy turned out to be this dominant consent king. I couldn't get enough of them.

It's pretty fast-paced and easy to read even though it's only from Logan's 3rd person POV. I was laughing, kicking my feet with glee, and overheating with the extra spice. It was such a good time.

Tropes:
MM Bully rom-com
Nerd/Jock
Opposites attract
Consent king
Enemies-to-lovers
Second chance
College
Roommates
Forced proximity
High spice
Soft dom/sub
MMM scene
Queer awakening
First times
3rd person POV

Review for (Men of Minotaur House-1) Bully Boys: Fresh by C.J. Pines

I'm going to put some of the tropes and triggers

Dom/sub
Bully/reverse bully romance
Hazing
Talk of their house having a ghost that has hurt people living there
M/M+M that has sharing
Marking
kink
Rimming
Nerd/Jock
Gender Non-Conforming

I am glad I took the chance on this story. I am not big on sharing unless it is in a committed relationship. This author wrote this trope well enough that I liked this story. I gave it a chance because there were some elements of BDSM, and that trope is my jam since I live the lifestyle. I have to say that this story pulled me in. I mean, with every story, some small things aren't to your liking, but overall, I enjoyed this story and can't wait for the next one in the series. The story between Logan & Oz. We all have had bullies in our lives, so to have a story where the tormentor asked the person he bullied was interesting by far. Logan has no choice since his coach says he needs to change his reputation or he loses everything. So really, he needs Oz's help. I loved how Oz tells him he will help him if he does a certain thing first. I never went to college, so reading stories that share what some have done is kind of fun. I look forward to the next book to see where this series is going to go.

Holy crap. This is my first book by this author but I just can't have it be the last. I've read a bully to lovers book before but never a reverse bully book like this where Logan, a jock on the football team, a legacy because of his dad and of course a bit of a bully is at the mercy of Oz, the "nerd" he wasn't very nice to. I'm not the biggest fan of books with bullying and usually hate the person doing it but this book was more than that. The premise of the jock who bullied the nerd and now is at the nerd's feet is something I loved. And Logan as a person was someone I really started to like as the book went on. He was in his situation because he caused it and Oz didn't have to agree or offer an ultimatum but he did and from there the story really gets spicy. In all the perfect ways. And after awhile it stopped being about ultimatums, old hurt, or getting back at someone who did you wrong. These two were so different but they worked and grew together and you couldn't help but root for them. This also wasn't just spicy but it was cute, sweet and even wholesome in some parts and I read it pretty quick as both these bully boys lured me in. I'm super happy and excited that there's a book two and I won't have to wait long to be back into this world I fell for.

Bully Boys ARC Review

Oz and Logan 💙

Logan starts his first year at college off on the wrong foot when his coach tells him that he is already behind in his classes and if he can’t bring those grades up, misbehave less, and focus in practice then he will be cut from the team. His roommate, and the one person who has just reason to despise Logan, Oz is the only one who can help with his studies. He offers himself up in exchange for the tutoring, with guidelines, and his only hope is that Oz accepts.

What starts as a bully romance with a switch in the power dynamics, as Logan and Oz are now in college with Oz having the upper hand this time around, turns into a fairly sweet romance between the pair! Don’t get me wrong, this story sure has its share of steam, but the way Oz is with Logan had surprised me. Oz cares even when he tries not to and Logan has to verbally spar with him from time to time, as Oz is way less brutal than I thought he would be about getting revenge on Logan for their younger years.

Overall, I think this was a good start to a series with Oz and Logan being as likeable as they are in my opinion. I’m curious about what’s next!

4/5 🌟

"You want me to stop?" he asked, peering up at Logan. "All you have to do is say the word, hot stuff-gumdrop-sugarlips-cupcake-doll. But then I guess I'm not tutoring you anymore, am I? And there goes your future on the football team, up in smoke."
"Dick," Logan huffed.
"Takes one to know one," Oz quipped, reaching out to take Logan's in hand. "And I think I'd like to know yours better."

I loved the premise of this book. I don't read bully romance very often, so I was looking forward to seeing how things would play out here. I liked the dynamic between Oz and Logan and the power exchange. The chemistry between them was scorching hot and I really loved how the intimate scenes were handled. I never care for the bully characters at the beginning, but Logan really grew on me. The banter combined with grumpty sunshine personalities was really fun. Did I mention their chemistry was hot?

"Don't call me sweetheart," Logan snapped, even as Oz's words ignited a twist of something dark and primal inside him. Made him want, made him need.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I would definitely read more. 5 stars

WHEN IS BOOK 2 COMING OUT??' WHEN??

This book made me seriously happy. I had no faith whatsover in the porny premise (btw: the blurb on GR is intended for another book), but... OMG IT DELIVERED. I've got everything I like, in order:
- a subby jock
- constant discussion of consent and boundaries in a good healthy way
- a VERY GOOD representation of bisexuality which is incredibly rare especially in a bi-awakening story. They TALK about it ffs
- a good redemption arc for the previous bully (not the best, but good enough)
- a 3some scene that actually moved the plot forward and was also hot
- two great characters who are clearly perfect for each other
- the jock being the one who's all lovey dovey first

I mean... what else can a girl ask.

10 stars, even if punctuation is a little awkward and it could have been proofed better. I don't care tbh, I got what I wanted and more.

Only thing: THAT BLOODY CLIFFHANGER. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

*I received an free copy of this book from GRR and the author. This review is my honest onion of the book*

I haven't read anything from this author before but I don't think this series is for meeven though I did enjoy this book. The spice was incredibly well written and I did like Logan and Oz as a couple. The author did expand on what was basically a very porny premises into something more. However, the threesone wasn't really for me, though I'm very picky with my MMM+ and this didn't really feel needed for the story. But I think that I would be in the minority here

I did really enjoy the relationship between Oz and Logan though I don't think I'd have been as forgiving towards my highdchool bully. The spice, and the importance of consent, was incredibly well written and I didn't think that I'd end up enjoying the book as much as I did.

However, as the other guys were so awful to Oz, I don't think it will be a book series that I want to continue in the future.

This story reminds me so much that you really need to be careful about who you treat poorly - actually no one deserves crappy treatment, just saying - because you never know who you will need. This is true for Logan and Oz. The popular jock in high school, messes up in college where he should have leveled up and taken care of business, so now he is in danger of losing it all. Who can help him get the grades up and work on his reputation issues? His roommate Oz, the nerd who has every reason to let him crash and burn. The tables are turned and Oz has the upper hand and he uses it to exact his own revenge. But like often happens, revenge is not as sweet as what comes to develop between them over time. Oz cares and he is a good guy. And more importantly, it was good to see them grow beyond the negative and come to find something special and safe in one another.
I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Bully Boys surprised me in the best way. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel at first—Logan’s behaviour early on was immature and off-putting, but honestly, it felt authentic for a college freshman still figuring things out. Once the story settled, I really started enjoying it, especially watching the dynamic between Logan and Oz develop. Their deal (Oz tutors Logan in exchange for certain "favours") could have gone wrong fast, but Oz’s constant check-ins and emphasis on consent made their connection feel grounded and safe. And wow, they’re hot together!

While the title and blurb suggest a darker bully romance, this really reads more like a bi-awakening, nerd/jock romance with lots of heat and a surprisingly sweet core. I do wish we’d seen more of their future and how they handle the fraternity issues—maybe that’s coming in book two. If you enjoy college romance with great communication, steamy scenes, and a light enemies-to-lovers feel, this one is worth a try!

The blurb on GR is not correct, this is the 1st book that is about Logan & Oz. It's really worth the read but you may want to find the actual blurb for the 1st book.

I love nerd/jock stories as it so fun to watch to different people come together. Logan needs a tutor and he will do anything to get Oz as that tutor. He doesn't realize all the bad he did to Oz back in the day but when he gets Oz to agree, he couldn't believe Oz took his offer. Logan is a newbie and has one rule that he sticks by while Oz is okay with doing everything else to Logan. These two learn so much about each other and when they both think the other can do better with someone else. Sometimes, you have to go with what your heart wants.

These two were made for each other. I love the steamy scenes, there is one mmm scene and boy is it hot. The more time these two are with each other, the more things come into play.

#I received an ARC through GRR and this is my honest review.

This one did it for me. It was steamy, surprising, and full of feels. This enemies-to-lovers bully romance kicks off the Bully Boys (Men of Minotaur House) series with a bang. College football star Logan’s life unravels after a prank gone wrong, forcing him to rely on Oz—the guy he once bullied in high school—for tutoring. In exchange, Logan offers himself up with some guidelines to Oz’s desires, leading to a sizzling dom/sub dynamic and Logan’s bi awakening.

Despite the spicy setup (including a steamy m/m+m scene), what unfolds is a heartfelt connection as power shifts and old wounds begin to heal. Logan and Oz’s chemistry, emotional depth, and sharp banter make this an addictively dirty and emotionally satisfying start to the series. Perfect for fans of steamy bully romances with heart.

Stories that center on bullying ofter are not my type of book, so I took a risk with this one as I love the author. I am so glad I did as I loved the twist with Logan and Oz. Seems Logan was Oz's high school bully but suddenly in college he is in need of tutoring from Oz. I love that Oz agreed and loved the twist that he would tutor Logan as long as Logan agreed to anything, and I mean anything, that Oz wanted. With that agreement the fun began. I loved how Logan tried to not like what Oz was doing for and to him, but suddenly he discovered feelings he did not know he had. A great twist on an old plot that seemed fresh to me. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the first book in the Men of Minotaur House series. Each book in this MM series can be read as a standalone.
Logan and Wally went to high school together. Wally was the nerdy slim boy everyone picked on, including the quarter back Logan. Now they are headed to college and joining a fraternity.
Logan is struggling keeping up with football, fraternity, and school work. He goes to his nerdy roommate for help.
Wally will help on with a few condition. First Logan calls him Oz, and helps gets the fraternity off his back.
This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read more from this series.

I received a free copy of this ebook from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion. Woo! That book had so much sexual tension! Chemistry was 10/10. The characters were well-written and likeable. This could have easily been a 5 star read for me. However, I felt like the ending was rushed and was left with so many questions. We were given some information that never went anywhere and issues that weren't resolved. I hope this means that there could be a book two eventually.
Still an overall good read!

the sex in this is written incredibly well, very authentic, which is surprisingly hard to come by in this genre! i also liked logan's character development, and the unique dynamic between logan and oz

the structure of this book is its weakest point, the writer definitely has potential and i appreciate the third person pov a lot!! but the beginning and end were the standout issues, it felt too slow paced to start and then ran itself off a cliff very abruptly at the finish line

overall enjoyable, but it could have benefited from better editing and a more defined storyline

This was a sweet story about redemption, unlikely pairings, and being brave enough to be your true self.
Logan's character was unexpected, but in the end everything made sense and just fit together.
Oz's character was a revelation and really endearing. And despite his unpleasant past, he was a total sweetheart.
Both of these young men were hiding sides of themselves that only came out with the right person.
It was really satisfying to read about the character growth Logan went through and the journey he completed in this book.
The chemistry between these two was electric.
