Charm Programming on the Raspberry Pi

Rate this book
This book was written to help children and adults wishing to learn high level language programming on the Raspberry Pi. It covers the Charm programming language developed over a period of years by the author running under the RISC OS operating system.

The relatively recent availability of a cheap yet powerful bare bones computer in the guise of the Raspberry Pi is generating a resurgence of interest in learning computer programming among the populace, particularly the younger generation, thereby fulfilling the intent of its creator.

Charm is a high-level programming language and set of development tools which is at the same time suitable for beginners, yet powerful enough for use in the undertaking of substantial projects. It is particularly tailored towards the Raspberry Pi, RISC PC range of computers and emulators running the RISC OS operating system, and is geared towards rapid production of small and fast modules and applications.

Everything you need is provided to get you started even if you have no previous programming experience, and the simpler Charm demo programs are no more than a few lines long. If you have questions you can contact the author directly through the accompanying Charm web site which also acts as a download repository for all things Charm.
