Crummymoon

Rate this book
This trip was supposed to be a romantic honeymoon at a five-star tropical resort in Mexico. Warm Caribbean breezes and endless cocktails. Perfect!

But my cheating ex-fiancé sucks.

Not about to let that sucker of souls ruin my life any more than he already has, I go alone — on my husbandless Crummymoon — to soak up some shade and dive into a steamy novel while I heal my broken heart.

My Crummymoon gets even crummier when I meet Daniel—my irritatingly entertaining and charismatic vacation nemesis—who’s easy on the eyes and grating on my ears.

Things go from bad to worse when my solo journey quickly becomes overcrowded with my serial texting mother and two random vacationers who I can’t seem to shake (one is sugary sweet. The other…rhymes with witch.)

Oh, then there’s Walter and his jiggly bits. (Don’t ask… and don’t look. Trust me on this.)

Despite our initial dislike, Daniel and I develop a connection that flirts on the edge of something more.

Something this muchacha plans to avoid.

They say that ‘Love is always in the air’ at the picturesque El Corazón del Sol Hotel, but I’m steering clear of it.

I think.

CRUMMYMOON is a laugh-out-loud, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, feel-good, banter-filled, steamy romcom. First person, Single POV. You’ll be smiling from the first page to the last.

This is the first in the El Corazón Del Sol Series. It can be read as a STANDALONE. Guaranteed HEA.

My face is hurting!!
From smiling at the wonderful banter, from laughing out loud and then from smiling again, but this time at the beautiful, heartwarming relationship between Daniel and Tess….oh how my little romantic heart melted with this story.

These two were made for each other and if anyone should deserve a Daniel it is Tess!

The writing style is so easy, perfectly paced and engaging, I instantly felt a connection with the characters. This author has brought something really wonderful in the book….it’s not ground breaking or action packed but instead it’s a beautifully romantic journey of healing, new friendships, second chances and wonderful people all wrapped up in an exotic location, sprinkled with fantastic sarcasm, wit and charm.
The characters become so real, their banter, intimacy and moments of pure joy were so wonderful to read and reminded me my I love reading romantic comedies. When they’re done well, like this, they are unputdownable!

I devoured this story, fell in love with all the characters and now I can’t wait to get back to this enchanting resort, where love is always in the air!

I have to admit I absolutely loved this book! Is funny and cute, with moments that had me literally smiling and giggling like a teenager at my screen. I loved the characters and am eager to find out what happened with Lily and Coco. Daniel and Tess’s relationship was captivating, and although it felt like it took forever for Tess to acknowledge her crush on Daniel, the slow build was perfectly justified and made total sense. This second chance story with a "he falls first" vibe was totally amazing!

The book's description as a funny romance novel was absolutely true, and I found myself laughing out loud at several of the main characters’ dialogues. The spicy parts had me giggling like crazy, and I adored how the male character’s actions made me fall in love with him as a reader. Overall, it’s a super easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely recommend it if you are a hopeless romantic like me!

This is my first Summer read of 2024 and what a fun book to start with! I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down until I reached the last page!
AC Netzel is a new author to me, her other books have quickly been added and moved to the top of my TBR list!

I loved the fun, witty banter as well as the engaging build up of romance and relationship between Tess and Daniel… I found myself smiling a lot throughout many of the scenes, the funny, flirtatious, and heartfelt!

Tess and Daniel’s relationship was witty, sarcastic, and heart-warming. The secondary characters were also so much fun, I can’t wait to read more about Coco and Lily!

Through the author’s beautiful, descriptive details of the setting, it’s not hard to imagine being right there in Mexico at El Corazón del Sol with the characters!.

Omg. I loved this funny, charming, heartwarming story so much!

No third act breakup, good strong characters, no cheating/manwhore/womanwhore bs, good emotional connection even though it’s a bit insta (it works), good side characters, true funny humor and great banter. Slow burn with a spicy payoff. Full satisfying epilogue 1 yr later. One POV, which is not usually my favorite, but it works. I want to read it again already.

It just has all the feels. Is it a little cheesy at times? Yes. Are some of the characters a bit over the top? Yes. But it’s a beautiful story filled with small moments and surprising depth. Gives me Pippa Grant vibes.

Tess is still recovering from breaking up w her fiance after finding out he cheated. She meets Daniel on the plane to Mexico where she is going to spend 9 days which were meant to be her wedding and honeymoon. She and Daniel bicker from the get-go but it is easy to see that he is a kind, playful person. She is angry and defensive in the beginning. Daniel is patient and seems to understand her prickly nature. I was annoyed w how mean she was to him at times, but it was also somewhat understandable.

Daniel is a photographer who is taking a vacation to celebrate that his terrible ex-wife got remarried. He slowly breaks down Tessa’s walls and they have good honest communication. I love that as the relationship developed the humor and banter remained.

Favorite small moments:
Walter and his ridiculous bathing suits; creating stories about the guests
The constant bickering over the chairs
The sunrise at the end
The first kiss
Too much tequila and the love of swear words/him taking care of her/texting her mom
Him reading her romance novel out loud
“Air Marshall”
Them getting each others humor

Love, love. If you’re looking for a lighthearted hug of a book this is for you. ❤️

Not the worst

I rarely give a two-star review. It’s either a very good book or a very bad book. This one wasn’t the worst. The grammar in the book was the worst though. It was just terrible. I mean I’m used to minor grammatical errors, but when you don’t know how to spell the word “you’re“ in the correct context more than once, and you don’t review the Spanish translation (including agua for water, not aqua, for heaven sakes), then it’s just sloppy.

Two particular things I didn’t care for in the book were the mother, who is so ridiculously overbearing, and the extreme anger the woman had months after a breakup. It’s offputting. I know the author was going for humor, but it was just weird how angry the female the FMC was for such a long time in the beginning of the book. I get annoyance, but repeated out of control anger at people just strikes me as extremely immature. The mom was so OTT that it was scary that the woman did not set better boundaries.

And just like I don’t enjoy people eating salads all the time, I absolutely don’t enjoy people eating everything in sight. Just keep the food to normal human consumption, please.

This was so, so good! I laughed out loud multiple times. I really enjoyed the banter. The “I think you mispronounced” and “I think you mean” banter was so funny! I loved Tessa and Daniel. This was such a good second chance story for both of them. I was waiting for some third act conflict, and I was so glad it never came. Daniel’s interaction with Matt at the airport was perfect! Matt is a scumbag. This was a solid 5-star read for me, and I can’t wait for Coco and Lily’s stories!

What a fabulous read!! This book was funny, witty, romantic, full of banter, one liners and lots of flirting and lots of sarcasm and it’s a fantastic slow burn romantic com. This book is so brilliantly written, it’s pace is perfect and it’s easy to read. The characters are all wonderful but Daniel and Tess’s characters are so beautifully matched and portrayed and their connection is palpable. It was a joy to take this journey with them from total deslíame of each other , to tolerance and then friendship and intimacy. A.C. Netzel this was simply a perfect wonderful read!!!! Can’t wait to see what else you have for us.

Bloody brilliant! This book was full of banter, flirtation, so many one liners and some good slow-burn attraction.

Tess was meant to be getting married...until it all went to shit! So instead of wallowing, she decides to go on her site wedding/ honeymoon alone.

She's seated next to a guy on the plane who is severely hungover....wearing grey sweatpants...you know the effect they have on women! Tess calls him a phallus flaunted, a pecker peeper! And he irritates her to no end.

Meet Daniel...the plane neighbour....

What starts as an annoyance for Tess, blossoms into a kind of friendship with Daniel. He is sexily infuriating!

This book had me hooked from the start...I laughed out loud and I shed more than a few tears.

Swoon worthy quote - The moon may light up the earth, but your smile lights it right back.

My best laugh out loud quote - The author must have written this book with a vibratory strapped between her legs, because it's bursting with hot, horny, endless, that-girl's-gonna-be-sore-for-weeks sex.

This was hands down one of the best light-hearted, cutesy, romantic, funny, finding yourself books I've read this year!!

If you love a good romcom, I have one for you. Crummymoon is the type of book that the term romcom was made for. It truly is a romantic comedy.

Spoilers ahead:

Tess flies to Mexico for the week that was supposed to be her wedding and honeymoon, but she is doing it solo as her ex fiancé is a lying bag of scum. While on the plane she meets Danial and things do not get off to a great start. Danial is a photographer and he just so happens to be staying at the same resort. The first full day there they end up arguing over a chair by the pool. Tess is annoyed, Danial is amused. Over time Danial breaks her hard shell and they get to know each other. Tess is still struggling over the end of her engagement and at times it puts a wedge between them, but with patience and witty banter, Danial wins her over.
I truly enjoyed this book. It had great banter, a slow burn and a lot of will they won’t they moments.

This was my first novel written by AC Netzel and I loved it! The characters were well developed and it was funny and steamy and swoon worthy. I could feel the emotion coming through the pages as I read! It was a quick read getting it done in 1 day. There were a few things that could have been a bit more developed. Coco and Lily kind of just disappeared after Daniel and Tessa became friends. I would have liked to seen more of them in this story to develop them for their own stories that are being written. Phillip (Walter) was also mentioned as being spotted! I would have liked to seen him included in thr ending. Over the book was funny and lighthearted. Louise and Tess's texts were laugh out loud funny!.

This is a reverse grumpy-sunshine story about Tess, whose fiance showed his true colors right before the wedding, and Daniel, a cheerful ball of sunshine who's always down for a good time!

The story started off a little rocky for me - Tess was TOO grumpy and was actively working on making me dislike her with her constant negativity; but I hung in there because Daniel just seemed so sweet and ready to have fun.

I'm glad I hung in - things got really interesting with both this soon-to-be couple and the crazy cast of characters (my favorite was Mr. Jiggly Bits, who turned out to be more than his swim shorts).

Now that I've read Book 1 of the series, I'm going to have to keep going - AC Netzel has me hooked!!.

Great book if you want a flirty, fun, easy to read, beach book. The story is engaging and fun. The setting really immerses you in the tropical location. It feels like you are there right along with the characters. The main characters are amazing and likable. They have great dialog and fun, witty, flirty banter. They have good chemistry, relatable sexual tension, and you really root for them to have a positive outcome. The secondary characters also add humor and contribute to the setting of the book. They really bring to life the location. Overall, a fantastic, fun flirty, romance with fun comedy mixed in. You need to put this book in your beach bag for your next trip!.

Daniel and Tess' first meeting is less than stellar, and it only goes downhill from there. She's taking the honeymoon that was planned before she found out that her fiance was the original lyin' cheatin' sack of crap. As annoying as Daniel is at times, he's also kind, thoughtful, a real gentleman, and a great listener. The book had me in stitches from the beginning, with their hilarious banter and teasing. I laughed and cried - happy tears only, I promise. First read from the author, and I'll look for her books again. ARC review. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read your work and trusting my opinion enough! I can’t wait for the next books in this series.

I can’t express enough how quickly I read this whole book. Even I am shocked. This is the cutest book ever.

They had such great communication once they got passed the initial banter(it was really funny banter).
I love how much their chemistry grew before the physical. The slowest burn ever but it was worth it.

My favorite scenes was probably the airport scene at the end though. Kind of a no brainer.
Tessa and Daniel for the win.

A captivating comedy romance! This is a genuinely beautiful second chance love story. You will laugh yourself silly at the lines in this book. It does need a little more editing, especially in proper phrasing of Spanish to English translation. However, the errors are minor and the story is too good to pass up. It's definitely a must read for all fans of Romantic Comedy, Drama, Second Chance Love, Love At First Sight and Happily Ever After!

I'm still crying

Tess and Daniel were such an unlikely couple. Tess was certainly in no frame of mind for a new relationship or even a friendship. But Daniel broke down her walls and they became friends. The snark and the banter we exceptional. The texts from the mom were the best. And the wedding at the end was the cherry on top. It was perfect. I'm so glad I found this author. I want more.

I loved that there wasn’t much of a third act breakup and the ending was sososo satisfying, especially the scene at the airport! Definitely going to be checking out more books written by this author:)

She’s the grumpy one and he’s sunshine. After a failed engagement, Tess takes the vacation to their planned destination wedding without her ex. She intends to spend the week alone, but she makes connections with a few people, one whose tenacity to connect with her softens Tess’ heart.

I loved this book! Lots of funny moments, recurring characters with their own quirks, and main characters with great personalities.

Crummymoon is written in first person, present tense with just the female main character’s perspective. The lead up to the spicy bits is slow, but tension filled. It will keep you turning pages!.

It was a nice and easy reading novel. You cannot stop reading as it's funny and engaging.

Daniel is an amazing character.
Lily is like innocent and Tess little bit arrogant.
There more descriptions needed for Matt.

However, overall the plot and ending is nice.

Definitely a five!

Wow! This story had it all. Drama, humor chemistry all wrapped into a book I couldn’t put down. Tess and Daniel were the unlikely couple who made disliking a person, humorous. Go on this couples journey to their HEA with sorrow, anger and laughter on her crummymoon adventure. You will love it! Enjoy!

I know it's a one perspective story, but I would have loved to get a little more insight to the opposite character's job. Perhaps to have it incorporated into the plot a little bit. Overall though a cute story and an easy and fast read.
