Sweet But Gritty
Starting off this book hits the ground running. It hits you with a sucker punch and then allows you space to get sucked into Scorpio's madness. Now I am a Dark Romance fangirl supreme. I read Scorpio's intro chapter and went yesssss!!!! Full finger snaps and everythang but then we got to Amethyst and I knew ut ohhh. Miss calculation on my part. Scorpio is an intriguing character and the prologue will leave you gasping. I would consider this light Urban Dark Romance. I appreciated how the author interwove the major dark themes into the character arc.
I enjoyed this read. It was a little different from my norm but the story line was fast pace the abuse was realistic and I enjoyed the real MMC. The author Morgan Rose did a phenomenal job with a lot of angles. She kept the storylines pushing and there was no dreaded 3rd act breakup or miscommunication trope up in here. Nope! We just got two adults, one working through triggers and the other working through locking it all down.
The sex scenes were good, some "mamas" and "big daddy" tossed in but overall I liked seeing the story of an abused woman reclaim her life with a new love.

There were things I liked and didn't like about this book. I liked the twins. I also like MMC parents. I liked that he was a rock and protector for FMC.
I didnt like the fact that the MMC came on so strong when he knew she was being stalked by her ex. I didn't like this was an instalove story. That trope didn't seem to fit where the FMC was abused. I would think she would be more distrusting, apprehendive, skidish. Instead she jumped in so quick after meeting him. Also, didn't like that nothing was explained about why mmc was like this or what mmc meant when he said the ex was never married. What was the point of the ex making fmc believe he was married?
There were also a lot of things I didn't understand about the book. 1. Was her ex named Scorpio or was his sign Scorpio or both? He was clearly called Scorpio but the scene where she sees the scorpion tattoo on MMC back thru me off. Why did she react like that to seeing a scorpion if his name was just Scorpio. Her reaction made me think the tat represented some sort of affiliation. But then MMC says the kids are scorpios too, which references the sign. Very confusing. Also confused why ex came to fmc's door. What did he want? All he did was hit her and leave. What's confusing is the ex had been stalking her for months and threatening her. He'd say stuff like "see you soon" and beg her to come home but then he had perfect chance to grab her but doesn't. Why? Lastly, confused why ex didn't take out mmc's family sooner? He clearly had the Intel but instead teams up with a coke head (the twins mama) to get to mmc. And what was the plan with the coke head? She had an opportunity to take or hurt the kids but instead she does a line of coke? Confusion.

Listen it started about real rocky and I was beyond pissed and stressed BUT I must say Morgan redeemed herself cause if not we might have tussled lol. Gem, what you went through with Scorpio is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy because that verbal abuse was just as bad as if he had hit you. I mean he did a number on you and I’m so glad you met Adonis because ain’t no way God wanted you to be with Scorpio. Scorpio was deranged, psychotic, unhinged in the worst way, and delusional af. When Adonis decided y’all was gonna be together that meant you were protected and you needed that so much. Adonis loved you, protected you, nurtured you, and helped you heal. He was everything you didn’t know you needed or deserved. He meant it when he said y’all were gonna be together and he had you covered. Even the bonus babies loved you. I’m just glad Scorpio got exactly what he deserved because when that stuff came to light at the end of the book, I just could believe he was that sick in the head. Chyyyyyy ion want no man to love me the way he claimed he loved you Gem. You got your HEA Gem and you truly deserved it. Great story! Thank you Miss MaMas!!!

Let’s start from the beginning Scorpio was on my sh*t list. You ever read a story and your thinking why won’t this person get knocked off already. This man was a narcissist, sociopath, psychopath, stalker , controlling, delusional and every other negative word you can think off. Amethyst is our FMC who already experienced childhood trauma that follows her into adulthood. I commend her for being able to get out, but of course the psycho couldn’t let go.. That’s where Adonis comes in when I tell you that name was meant for him I’m not exaggerating. This is an urban romance but I will say there’s a sprinkle of suspense. The storyline captured me because honestly I didn’t know what was going to happen next . A page turner for sure I’m glad Gem got her HEA.

I really just pick stuff up based on vibes but going in blind hasn’t disappointed me yet. I had zero clue what this book was about and was pleasantly surprised by the romantic suspense! The story kept you on your toes, just enough twists and turns with just enough of a mushy factor.
Call me crazy but I tend to laugh when it’s not supposed to be funny. I could not get enough of Adonis! When that man said Amethyst could call him Pooh bear or big daddy I was no more good because sir! I loved sassy little Jade and I’m not mad at Jasper’s house rules at all! Adonis said he is a man raising a MAN honey and I was here for it!
You’ll definitely get more than you bargain for in a good way with this one!

4.5 🌟 Good Story
I enjoyed this story a lot. It was fast paced and to the point. Scorpio was a mess whew it’s just men that will try to break you just because they can 😒🤦🏾♀️. I loved how Adonis talked so much trash just to turn into putty 🤣. He showed her exactly how to be loved properly and fell safe with a man. I didn’t understand Jade attitude at times guess that’s the preteen 🤷🏾♀️ cause sis was hot and cold. I’m glad Gem stayed a gem even through the tough times. Idk Laya had me side eye her a little 😒 but I guess she was cool. This book got 4.5 stars from me cause the wife situation wasn’t explained and I felt that it should’ve been.

Great Read
Great read from start to finish! If you love the notion that love can help you get past the trauma in your life, then this is the book for you! Adonis was so caring, attentive, kind and reassuring to Gem/Amethyst especially with the tragedy she had suffered with the loss of her mom and then that fool stalking her at every turn. Adonis handled being a single father with pride and love! Family and friendships were key to the story! I loved the epilogue! I want to see more though, because Laya and Fem definitely have something going on

My first thought after wrapping this up “now this is who you address stalking in a romance.” I’m not a fan of writers romanticizing stalking or gaslighting. So having Scorpio as the villain, which he rightfully was refreshing. Poor Gem went through it with that idiot.
But the way she was loved, encouraged, and protected by Adonis was everything. Him and those positive affirmations had me swooning. This was really sweet, can’t wait to read more from this author. Especially Hef and Layla.

I like, Amethyst, was traumatized by a Scorpio. Not as intense but it was there. So I immediately wanted to see what this was about
This was something. I love me an unhinged man, but both of these men were definitely something else on the unhinged scale. Even though Adonis had the best intentions, he definitely was just as pushy and persistent as Scorpio, just not in the way Scorpio was. This audiobook needed trigger warnings, too. Not just that it contained strong subjects. Scorpio was a walking traumatic experience. SMH. However, the book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I thoroughly enjoyed the narrators since Lacy and Midnite are 2 of my personal favorites.

I am a November baby that makes me a Scorpio, and I, for one, is a lovable soul!! Scorpio Devon was on drugs.....he was terrible! Now, Adonis...ohhh the Greek God, he is an alpha Scorpio....a man that takes care of home!!!! Protector, provider, healer, and a lover, all wrapped up in one and gave Amethyst the best he had to offer. Traumatized to d1ckmatized.....oh so nice!

Loved loved Adonis,he definitely had that bde. Gem got on my nerves sometimes. I wanted her to reach out for help or at least try to help herself. At moments I didn’t like her because she was ready to give to Scorpio crazy ass. I , now know that was learned behavior from her mom. But I loved that Adonis stepped up and loved her through it all. Scorpio smh was just crazy for real. He really needed help.

So Good
The title of this well written book definitely describes the story within. With a storyline that has some drama, secrets, stalking and mental abuse that turned physical. Though the storyline can be triggering, it is written with style and grace. The characters are likeable, well developed, and a few are so empathetic. This is an awesome read and I didn't want it to end.

Oh Lordy…I loved this. Scorpio ass was a fucking psychopath. I was also very scared that he would go after her grandmother but blessed be the author for not allowing that to occur. I loved Gem and Adonis together. It was a beautiful love. I love how she loved his kids and didn’t take away anything from that. I wish I got more of Hef and Laya but I’ll settle

Let me just start by saying this was kind of triggering for me so I almost dnf but I'm glad I finished it. Scorpio had me pissed off and stressed out at the same time my goodness. Literally the definition of "can't take no for an answer". My poor girl Amethyst was going through it. This book sent me through a lot of emotions but I was happy with the last emotion.

Adonis & Amethyst! My first draw is their names. I love them. Secondly, I loved Adonis! He was so strong & present for Gem. Gem's situation was impossible but relatable. I like spicier detailed intimacy scenes. Although the scenes were small, the intimacy was there! And I felt the passion.

🥲🥲🥲 this one had me all the way in my feels. The story was insane, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved the love Adonis gave Amethyst and the love she gave to him and his kids right back. Scorpio was an absolute basket case. I love how Adonis stopped at nothingggg to make sure his woman felt safe & loved 🥲

This was such a good book, that included drama, trauma, and love. I wanted Scorpio to die a thousand deaths he was a SICK individual. I'm so glad Gem got her HEA.

Scorpio gave us good-hearted Scorpio's a bad name. He was beyond delusional he was a psychopath. My man, Adonis, gave Gem the true unconditional love she needed. I definitely recommend

This was ok. I was hoping for more because I am Scorpio; however, the dude was the villain. And when I thought it was going to get better, it didn't make sense why MMC - Adonis - was slick controlling, too.

I read this series so backwards lol I read Layas first and JUST figured out Gem's story already came out ctfu But listen. I LOVE THEM!! Like seriously. I am really glad they found eachother. There is nothing like finding happiness in the mist of chaos. 🙌🏾

Wow just wow
My first read from this author and now I'm interested in her catalog. I was appalled by some of the events in this story and happy about the ending. It's worth reading for yourself. There's a much appreciated trigger warning in the beginning. Great story telling.
