I have been looking forward to this book for quite a while and must say it was worth the wait. Good quality paper, really interesting photos and the accompanying text gives a good explanation of what you see, what is known about the scene and, where available, the situation as it is now. The book gives a really nice overview of what took place in those September days. It makes it more than clear how hard 1st Airborne and accompanying units fought there.
Why only four stars I hear you ask? Well, the editing isn't spot on. Missing characters, references to photos are missing, showing only '(see p.XXX)' instead. This mainly applies to the text next to the pictures. This could have been avoided, especially since the publication has been postponed for a number of years. Someone should have noticed all this!
What I did like is the final chapter that allows the reader, with book in hand, to walk the perimeter. This is a really great idea and a nice addition to an already good book, despite the editing issue.
