Thirteen years by Author D.Raven comes out July 6 2024!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 🌶🌶🌶 💀 ⚠️ TW I'm definitely a tad biased but I love this book so much!! I'm so glad to be a part of its story. Lucas and Becks are everything. Monica tho 🫶🏻 Debut author D. Raven takes readers on a wild ride full of pain, perseverance, and love. Every word has you hanging on the edge waiting for the next. I cannot wait to read the next installment of the Finding Freedom series!!
4.25 Stars Rebecca was previously married to a monster. Thirteen years ago she escaped, and has been running ever since, moving from city to city trying to stay out of her ex husband, Clark’s, hands. Rebecca never got too close to anyone, or let her daughter, Nat, set down any roots. But that changes when they move to Reading, Pennsylvania. After living safely in the previous city, Rebecca believes that her and Nat might finally be safe. Rebecca becomes quick friends with the high school secretary, Monica, and her husband Paul. Having a daughter around Nat’s age, Monica and Rebecca spend a lot of time together.
One day, when dropping Nat off at school, Rebecca literally runs into Lucas, a cop (the good kind).
Lucas is a bachelor, never really finding interest in anyone. But he’s immediately attracted to Rebecca, and she’s attracted to his 6’6”, completely tattooed, fine ass.
Little by little, Rebecca learns to let her new friends, and dare she say boyfriend, into her life. She tells them of her abusive ex husband, and the fact that he still haunts her. Monica is the best friend ever, convinced Rebecca is “a badass”, and Lucas is completely smitten by Rebecca and vows to protect her and her daughter.
This was an easy read. You can tell that it was a first book, but the story kept my attention, I couldn’t put it down. I loved that we occasionally get multiple pov’s through the story, it rounds it out nicely. I’m looking forward to reading the next in this series, Monica deserves all the happiness too, and I love a second chance romance.

Thirteen Years follows the story of Becks, a single mom, who has been on the run from her abusive ex-husband for the last 13 years. Moving every couple of years/months when her ex finds her and her daughter, Becks finally feels they're safe and can put some roots down. Her daughter Natasha finally makes friends and even Becks does too.
It doesn't hurt that Office Lucas Marshall also happens to be friends with Beck's new friends Monica and Paul. Lucas and Becks hit it off immediately and just when Becks thinks everything is going to be fine- does her ex husband find her?
This story is definitely hard to read if you have Triggers. Don't take them lightly. I liked Becks. I can't imagine what she's gone thru in life and I found the strength and the growth of her character to be brave. I also like that Lucas seems to be understanding of her backstory and takes things slowly with Becks but also, don't mess with her lol.
I did find things a little rushed as far as the romance/Becks all a sudden letting people in. The ending was hard and sad for me and I really thought what happened would turn out to be okay and it didn't. Also, while I'm okay that it was multiple POVs, I think there was too many.
From a debut indie author, this is absolutely NOT what I expected. Thirteen Years took me by STORM.
As a plus sized woman, the plus sized representation was just what I needed. And as a mom, the rep of being a mom and the hard, awful thoughts you have about yourself were very on point and made me realize how I think of myself. It was like I was staring into a mirror.
Now onto Lucas. Lucas was EVERYTHING I didn’t know I needed in a character.
Clark. Clark was nearly a mirror image of my own past and as haunting and awful as it was to confront, it was also cathartic. Revenge is a dish best served cold and that’s exactly what I felt liked I’d served to my own Clark—revenge.
Ultimately, Thirteen Years is a heart wrenching testament of survival and is one that has nestled its way completely into my heart and will live there for a long while yet.
D. Raven, as a debut indie author, I salute you and thank you for the representation. Thank you for seeing me. You have gained a new, lifetime fan.

This one was a ride…one that I loved being a part of.
Becks and Lucas were so cute together. Becks has been on the run from her ex for thirteen years. Thirteen years of looking over her shoulder and keeping everyone out in order to keep them safe. Something about the PN town she’s moved to feels like home and somewhere she can put down roots.
Becks runs into Lucas on the first day of school when she’s late dropping her daughter off. Lucas is the officer in town checking on the school. There is an instant connection. An instant desire for Lucas to protect Becks and make her happy.
As Becks and Lucas get closer the strange happenings in town reveal that her ex is a lot closer than they imagined. Becks tries to push Lucas away but Lucas is having non of it. He has fallen hard for Becks and her daughter and refuses to let her just walk away. He wants to protect them both and keep them safe.
In the end it is Becks who handles her business with the help of Lucas and some amazing supporting characters. She made sure that she’d be able to keep her new family safe and did what she needed to do. I loved that she rescued herself with the help of Lucas the and other members of her found family.
Now this one did hurt a bit as well…I loved the story and the characters that were brought to life in this book. Highly recommend.

This book was so good. I love that the love interest was a bigger girl. We dont see tgat as often. I was hooked from start to finish. The emotions you feel for this are insane. The plot was beautifully written definitely recommend
OMG!! I don’t think I’ve ever had so many emotions in one book! Becks and Lucas they just fit. I loved the fact that they took time and built trust and knowing (Becks) can in fact have people in her life. Man, I’m still crying though. I absolutely love this book. Cannot wait for book 2! Thank you D. Raven for such an amazing book!
This book kept me on my toes! It’s so fast paced and constantly has something happening to keep you interested. I absolutely love our FMC Becks. She is such a strong woman and has grown from her past and strived to do better for her daughter. Our MMC is so perfect and dreamy. I mean who doesn’t love a tatted cop. Perfect for anyone who loves the found family trope.
Did I race through this book? Boy, did I! And I'm a very slow reader! I won't deny that after reading the first few pages I thought "I know where this is going!" But I did not expect it to play out the way it did. Becks has been relocating every few years for the passed 13 years, she and her daughter are in hiding from her abusive ex-husband. When she settles in a new town, I thought phew okay, nice quiet fresh start .. meet a handsome police officer and get that HEA girl.
NO, NO, NO ... What a whirlwind of emotions and events in this book. Having multiple POVs was a huge plus for me and really helped me get into everyone's heads. I giggled, I blushed, I awed, I'm not a crier but I did have something in my eyes on a few occasions 🤣.
It is a heavy storyline, so please pay attention to the author advisement. There was a realism in the book that was so beautifully written it had me captivated.
Becks is such a strong character, but she's permanently in a state of question about peoples intentions. She really wants to open her heart but fear and low self esteem holds her back.
Lucas! If i could describe Lucas - it would be my husband, I'm certain its the reason why I enjoyed this book so much, because Lucas' attentiveness, understanding and love is exactly what my hubs is like 🥹
I crave a best friend like Monica - I truly wish she was real and was my friend 🤍 and Nan - gosh I love Nan 🥰

Thirteen years by D. Raven was a page turner that had me hanging off the edge of my seat the whole time!! I highly recommend this book!
Becks has been on the run from her ex husband for 13 years with her daughter Natalie. Constantly looking over her shoulder and moving frequently until they arrive in where she starts to feel safe and wants to put down roots. Then enters Lucus police officer hottie! There is an instant connection between the two. As the two become closer strangers things start to happen and it appears that Becks ex isn’t as far away as she had hoped.
I loved how patient Lucus was with Becks allowing her to be ready for more. Not only do you have their relationship building but also Monica and Paul’s relationship with Becks growing. I loved how finally Becks has people to love and support her.
I loved D. Ravens writing style, it was suspenseful and intriguing the whole way. Her character development was amazing. This was an emotional ride that I loved every second of and I cannot wait for book 2!!

Ummm let me start off by saying this book is in my top 5 favorite books I’ve read! The smut is perfectly written and I didn’t want the story to end!
Becks has spent 13 years running to protect her and her daughter from her haunting past. From town to town, never settling anywhere. As she’s dropping off her daughter for her first day at her new school, she bumps into officer Marshall. From the minute he sees her, he wants to know everything about her. He is so drawn to her and wants to do everything he can to keep her here and not run again.
Will Becks let her walls down and let him in? Can she trust another man after what she’s been through? Lucas Marshall is determined to change her mind and give her the love she deserves.
This story is truly beautiful and heartbreaking all in one. I love the chemistry between Becks and Lucas!
I was provided an ARC of this title for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thirteen Years is book one of the Finding Freedom series by debut author D. Raven.
Becks and Lucas.
She’s been running and hiding from her past for thirteen years with one singular focus— providing the best & safest life for herself and her daughter. No attachments, no losses. Five cities in 13 years.
But she didn’t figure officer Lucas Marshall into her plans.
And some secrets you can only run and hide from for so long.
Tenacious Rebecca Wareman proves that no matter how broken things may appear, a path toward fixing them is always open.
D. Raven spins a pulse-pounding tale of suffering & endurance, determination, introspection and, perhaps against the odds, a fierce and irrefutable love that conquers it all.
Thank you so much to author D. Raven for the opportunity to read this as an ARC!
Thirteen years was a surprise for me. This book, is a special piece of literature. I am a domestic abuse survivor. And I use some books to help me heal and teach myself I wasn't alone in what I went through. Thirteen Years By D. Raven had me feeling my ex was breathing down my neck. It made me feel fears I hadn't felt in years, but it also made me feel empowered. This story has me feeling like I was Becca. That I finally got the courage to run, and fight for myself and those whom I love. There has never been a book I have felt so connected too. My emotions were on ten. I was living this story with Becca and Nat. You want to Route for the characters. Your heart is so involved with the story that you can't help but be in it yourself. Thirteen years is a Five story with some heavy triggers. It is also written amazingly and needs to be in Everyone's TBRs. This book will help you heal and not feel so in the world if you know what I mean.
Arc review: Omg I would love to thank D.Raven for giving me this opportunity to read this amazing book. I'm looking forward to book 2. After reading "Thirteen years" this book got me soon as I start reading I was going through a lot of emotions through out the story in I love it I had my moments were I was kicking my feet and giggling then I started reading more I don't like becks ex he annoying but when Lucas pop up I knew I was going to feel attached to him and becks toward the end I did cry cause of Paul in when they talked about grief cause I can relate to it since I have lost some close people to me I'm really happy that they got there happy ending that they deserve.
This book was truly amazing for a first book. The story plot and characters were definitely thought up very well. It’s about a single mom Becks who has a very bad earlier relationship that totally tormented her life. During her moves as she did for keeping her and daughter safe she finally found somewhere she and her daughter can call home. That being said made new friends and a hot ass man who so happens to be a cop names Lucas . They hit it off really well with a lot of passion between the 2. Until her gut feeling came true. Then disaster strikes and things go down hill. Does Becks stay alive and will Lucas and her be one together idk…. You’re going to have to read the book to find out lol!!!! I really loved the book. Can’t wait for the next!!!
Wow this book really puts you on a roller coaster of emotions! I was felt giddy, excited and then I sobbed like a baby for a solid 30 minutes. The book hangover is real, these characters are stuck in my head.
Becks is a single mom to a preteen and they have been constantly moving for the last thirteen years. They settle in a new town and Becks literally bumps into a hunky tattooed police officer, Lucas Marshall.
Becks deserves the world after all she has endured and ran from. Nat deserves a home. Lucas deserves the love that he freely gives to everyone else.
The side characters have my heart and I can’t wait to read the next book!
🖤Dark Romance 🚨Found Family 🖤Touch her and 💀 🚨Multiple POV 🖤He Falls First
Lucas & Becks were everything!! This was my first read with the MMC being a cop and I think I found a new trope I like😂😂 I loved how Lucas was with Becks and just so supportive and nuturing after everything she has been through. I definitely stayed up past my bedtime to read this one!! Once I hit CH15 I just had to keep going and it was so worth it!! Without spoiling anything, I will say that the ending was *chef's kiss*!! Was not expecting it at all but it really tied everything together! This was such a great read & I am so ready for the other stories we get to see in this series.
I have never had such an emotional response to a book or character before. This book follows Becks (FMC) who navigating life after fleeing DV to save herself and her unborn child. It’s thirteen years later and she finally feels safe enough to stop running from her past. She wants to giver her daughter a better life and let her just be a normal kid! In walks Lucas (MMC). This book was amazing! I connected with Becks unfortunately on a personal level and I think this book helped my hidden trauma come to the surface! This book made me cry actual tears! I loved it and would recommend!
Rebecca is a single mom, running from a monster of a man. To protect her daughter. Lucas is a cop, ok with his one night stands. Things moved pretty quick in the book. But not in a way you will get lost. You have your single mom, strong FMC, protective MMC, spicy romance. I will say I didn't see that end coming. It does touch on domestic violence and loss of a loved one. Check the trigger warnings if you have any.
This is definitely a fast pace, binge in one sitting type of book and EXACTLY what I needed to get out of my small book slump!
It’s also so emotional and not gonna lie I was tearing up a bit while reading this. The multi-pov was amazing I loved getting everyone’s perspective it just added so much to the story!
My heart broke but I am so happy that they got their HEA!!
This book is an interconnected standalone, it follows Rebecca and Lucas. Rebecca is a single mom to a beautiful 13 year old daughter she has spent the past 13 years running. LUCAS🥵 This man can do whatever he wants and I’d melt!🫠 He is a big tattooed cop (who doesn’t like those?) with gray eyes, and that 5 o’clock shadow that just looks so damn hot! Lucas met Becks and instantly felt something for her, he felt a need to protect her and her daughter. Someone from Becks’ past comes after she FINALLY decided to stop running and put down roots and she wants to run again. Lucas in his “you’re mine!” 🥵Glory will do whatever he needs to get her to stay. Through this story you get to see to bonds between Lucas and his best friend Paul and I love the friendship they have! You get to see Becks build an amazing sister bond with her best friend Monica. I love getting to see Becks’ and Monica’s daughters because best friends.
I can’t wait to read book 2 when it comes out! @draven_writesromance keep writing! 🥰😘
This exceeded my expectation, even though this story was short, it did not lack detail. Lucas is probably my new favorite MMC, he is very dominant and protective over his girls. I did not find myself getting bored during this story at all! I am most likely going to be reading the rest of the series. Definitely recommend reading for a short and spicy read
I loved that Lucas knew what he wanted and made it known to Rebecca especially considering all that she had been through. I like how he was patient and gave it time with Rebecca but I was surprised as to how fast paced the book went but it didn’t deter me , honestly it made me finish the book waaaay too quick!
I like the different povs (adore Lucas grandma ) even from the characters that gave me the absolute ICK. And I Love the friendships that played out throughout the book they had one another’s back. Especially Monica that girl was playing some match making it had me cracking up. The spice ate in the book hehe 🤭
But also I love that the daughter had her friendship which was needed I truly believe to help with the journey with how the book went.
The ending had me feeling my emotions but intrigued for book 2 im nervous to see how it’ll go.
⚠️Please, please, please, check your trigger warnings. ⚠️
For Thirteen Years Becks has been running from her past. A run-in with Officer Lucas Marshall changes her life.
Lucas Marshall is the endgame for me. He’s protective, tatted, does tattoo therapy, and has a dirty mouth. 🥵🥵🥵
I'm glad Becks has him in her life and her corner. He refuses to let her run anymore, continually reminding her that she is safe with him.
But, can he keep that promise?
I enjoyed the multiple POVs from all characters involved. It gave me a glimpse into their mindset as the story progressed.
Thank you D. Raven for letting me have the opportunity to have an ARC of your debut novel. It was a fantastic read and I'm looking forward to book #2 in this series.
I didn't expect to cry coming out of this book! I thought there would be a happy ending. I'm so sad. This story was so well written (With some exaggerated and grammatical parts), but I really fell in love with this world. Plus, it takes place about 30 minutes from where I live. It's about taking control of your life, and being who you are. I know the author is setting up for the next book, but still. I'm really sad and was not expecting it. Turned into massive tears. I did also like the ending, though.
This is the book of the summer!! I read this in 3 hours. I could not put it down! I felt all of the emotions while reading. I loved the multiple point of views. Perfect amount of spice! At some points, my heart was racing because I didn't know what was going to happen next!
Becks and Lucas have to be my new favorite book couple. But damn Lucas 🥵. The quick friendship between Becks and Monica makes me super jealous. I need friends like them!
D. Raven took me on a wild ride with this one. I'm super excited to see what's next!
