Logan Kemp buried the love of his life when he was nineteen and, unable to face the loss of his future mate, he left Shadow Pines. Six years later, he’s been summoned back to deal with his ailing father and take his rightful place as Pack Alpha. Only, the pack he left behind has changed and everything he thought he knew is turned upside down with one fateful encounter.
She’s done with the lies.
Wren Culvert was sixteen when her sister drowned. It was ruled an accident but she always believed Lark’s boyfriend was involved and that his Alpha father covered for him. She wants to rip him apart when she sees him again but instead, a bond sparks between them and all her righteous fury is suddenly wrapped up in the confusing need to be mated with this man she hates.
Only the truth can set them free.
Can Logan and Wren manage to put the past behind them or will the need for revenge ultimately destroy them… and their pack?
Jess Bryant is an avid indoorswoman. A city girl trapped in a country girl's life, her heart resides in Dallas but her soul and roots are in small town Oklahoma. She enjoys manicures, the color pink, and her completely impractical for country life stilettos. She believes that hair color is a legitimate form of therapy, as is reading and writing romance. She started writing as a little girl but her life changed forever when she stole a book from her aunt's Harlequin collection and she's been creating love stories with happily ever afters ever since.
Jess holds a degree in Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is a lifetime supporter of her school and athletic teams. And why not? They have a ton of National Championships! She may be a girlie girl but she knows her sports stats and isn't afraid to tell you that your school isn't as cool as hers... or that your sports romance got it all wrong.

A good start to a new series, it was a slow start but once it got moving the story really takes off. This is full of drama BUT given the plot if there wasn't it would be weird. With all that drama we also get chemistry that just radiates off the pages. I give Logan and Wren 4 stars.
I'm so glad to be back in Jess Bryant's world of shifters again, I'm absolutely in love with Wren and Logan!!
Logan and Vivian, his sister, get called back to Shadow Pines thinking their Dad is dead and it's now time for Logan to take the mantle as Pack Alpha, only to find things are very different when they arrive.
Wren is busy working trying to find out who really killed her older sister Lark when she runs into the guy she's hated since had the gall to run away the night her sister died, before he could answer any questions.
I loved the suspense in Shadow of Fury, and the automatic lust these two have for each other, even if they're going to fight it most of the way through! It's so hot, and at the same time I feel so bad for everything Wren is going through with her family, they're just not who she needs in the moment.
The side characters are absolutely so well done, we get to see Gia again from a former pack for just a little bit of time, and don't really get much in the way of why she's leaving again. I loved Dominic , the Enforcers family, and how much explaining they do all the way through the book. I felt such grief with both Darren and Dillon, what Darren had been forced into and what Dillon thought he lost.
I love Shadow of Fury, and I think we'll get to see the building out of the storyline and more of Shadow Pine with Dominic's book coming up next, and I'm so EXCITED for it!!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review *
It's been a while since I've read a paranormal book, and this one reminded me why I love shifter books so much.
I was immediately drawn into the story and didn't want to put it down. It was extremely well written, and I loved the characters. I absolutely loved it. I can not wait for book 2.
After running from his past and the heartbreak of losing his future mate, Logan returns home to find his mother and father deathly ill and that half the pack has moved away. Deciding its time to stop running and find some answers, Logan runs into Wren, his late girlfriends little sister, and shocked to the core when his wolf claims her as theirs.
Wren has spent over 6 years working her way up the pack ladder to get close to the alpha. Convinced his son, Logan, was responsible for her sisters death, she will stop at nothing to get answers and bring those responsible into the light. But fate has other plans. Finally, Wren is so close, but when she runs into the one and only person she wishes she would never lay eyes on again, she can't believe her wolf's reaction to him.
They must decide if the revenge they both seek is worth destroying everything for, or if maybe they can finally put the past behind them and move on.
I highly recommend this book!!! So good! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
2024 has been the year I discover I really like paranormal romances, they are a great way to get out of a book slump, they are always enjoyable, and I love every moment of them as I am reading them. With Shadow of Fury, I read it in one sitting because I could not stop. Logan and Wren have such an emotional storyline, especially with the circumstances surrounding Lark and Logan's father. Logan comes back to town after hearing that his father is dead, and when he comes back home he learns nothing about his town is like he remembered and that his father's rule was worse than he knew. Wren is trying to uncover the secrets surrounding her sister's death and trying to find something to prove Logan was behind the murder.
However, once Logan and Wren discover they are mates, all bets are off. Their chemistry is insane, they literally cannot keep their eyes or hands to themselves, and watching them fight their chemistry is truly so much fun. I loved how the story had funny moments surrounding the heavy emotional plot lines in the book. This story mixes romance, murder mystery, family drama, and fated werewolf mates so well, that I'm super excited to read the rest of the series!
I have to say, enemies to lovers for a fated mated story can be hard, but I enjoyed this one. Wren had a legitimate reason for her hatred. She didn’t have all the answers, but it wasn’t hard to see why she was furious.
But she realized quickly her mistakes, even if she didn’t get everything she was hoping for at first.
And I like that Logan stuck it out, stayed to help his pack, to fix everything that had gone on.
This story was largely about his father and the issues arising from that, but Wren and Logan’s story pair led well with it.
But inevitably, while enjoyable… it was almost a superficial story. Wren and Logan have barely fleshed out personalities, which makes the rest of the characters almost flat. There’s an entire off screen B-Story going on (which I suspect is a totally different book), but it’s thrown in as almost an after thought (and we never, at any point, actually meet Gwen.)
I know more will reveal itself as the series continues but I’m not sure the character depth will improve.
Lots of twist and turns as we uncover all the secrets of the pack and bring our favorite shifters together at last.
Future leader of the pack loses who he thinks is his forever love and leaves the pack with defects in tow. When he returns to the pack he finds things aren’t what they should be. He faces all those who think he did wrong only to find his true mate in the one who he is keeping the most secrets from.
Wren is the distraught sister trying to get to, what she believes is the truth of her sister’s death only to learn that her true mate is the one she hates most. Sparks fly as she learns the secrets of that awful day. And who better to protect her on her journey than her true mate.
Shadow Fury is a gripping story line that keeps you wanting to get to the bottom of all the pack secrets. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I think we need a lot more of Logan and Wren and hopefully more of the Shadow Pines Pack.
Shadow of Fury kicks off a new Wolfie series from Jess Bryant and boy does it bring the fun! One of the things I love about Bryant's wolf series is how they deliver not just a story about our main couple, but how the pack blooms in each book making you look forward to seeing everyone in future books.
This first book introduces us to the pack - and our future pack leader Logan, who's dealing with, shall we say some issues in the love/romance department along with the truth that his role as pack leader is not as looming as he thought. We also meet Wren who is struggling with things herself, questioning those in her pack. But one thing neither truly expected was a mate connection between themselves - but can that exist with the past and secrets between them?
Their path together is full of twists and turns, secrets and truths, and the story delivers these with a smooth precision that not only drew me in, but kept me hooked and rooting for them.
I love the shifter world that Jess has created. We get another pack with a troubled past. Logan knew what he was walking away from. He thought he would never have the chance to have a mate. But when he is called back to the one place he doesn’t want to be. There is something on that his father isn’t telling him. Wren is just trying to discover what happened to her sister all those years ago. And working for the Alpha is the best way to find the answers she desperately needs. The pair never expected to be fated mates. As Logan and Wren dance around each other they start to find out the truth and it's deeper than what Logan knew. The ending is much darker than we would have thought. But at this point, I am curious to see what Jess has in store of the Shadow Pines pack. With a new Alpha and Queen they can set things right.
4.2 stars. This is a good start to a new series. Logan and Wren are the couple featured in this story. Logan has come home to his pack thinking the Alpha, his father, has passed. Little does he know that he was tricked home. Wren has been in the pack since birth. Wren lost a relative and has been questioning everything since. Wren is determined to get the answers, her family deserves and believes Logan and his family had something to do with it. When their fated mate sparks it implodes. Both characters are strong, determined and loyal. The story started a little slow for me but a few more chapters in and I was hooked and needed to finish. I can't wait for the next book.
I truly enjoyed this story. It was entertaining, tragic, and full of secrets and hope. Wren had a hard time letting the past go, especially regarding Logan and her dead sister, Lark. I felt sorry for Wren's loss and journey to acceptance and love. Logan was determined to bond with Wren and give her the truth she deserved. The mating bond led to some very steamy scenes and a lot of emotions overflowing. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
I received a copy through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This book was a completely captivating breath stealer. Wren and Logan's story seized hold of my attention very quickly and the razor-sharp blend of thick tension, raw emotion, juicy drama, stunning twists, fierce feelings and sultry heat had me feverishly keeping those pages turning. These two wage an epic battle between what their heads know, what their heart wants and what fate has decreed. I am so excited to continue this series.
This first book in Jess Bryant's new series was everything I was hoping for and more! The push pull between Logan, Wren and Fate was sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes so fun. The mystery of what has happened to the pack kept me turning pages long into the night. The mystery of what happened to Wren's sister broke my heart. The way that Logan takes care of Wren put it back together! Jess Bryant does shifter stories better than most. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I loved Wren and Logan!! She hated him for what she thought he did to her sister six years ago!! He was just newly back to town and fate decided to step in and make them fated mates. They both weren't happy about that and tried to fight it but that was easier said than done. Logan didn't have time for any of that he needed to figure out what was going on in there town and to there pack and how much of a part his father the pack alpha had to do with it.
This book is spell binding. Logan and Wren are explosive together. The past needs to remain where it is. This storyline is fantastic. I really appreciate the writing style. I love storylines that reel you in. Excellent writing.
Delightfully devoured! The mystery and intrigue pulled me right in and just did not let go! I adore paranormal/shifter romance and this one is top notch! Every single thing I could have possibly wanted it to be and still somehow more. Loved it!! I am hooked, a tinge obsessed and cannot WAIT for the next one in this series!
I absolutely devoured this book! I loved the complexity of this story and how it ties in nicely with Jess's Fated mate series. Logan and Wren's story is both heartwretching and proves that you can overcome almost anything. The angst level was spot on and the mulitude of layers in this book will keep you on your toes!

Wren and Logan are everything. There story has a moderate amount of emotion, suspense and these two, though fated mates, resist their bond until they can’t. The storyline is complicated with emotions because Wren believes Logan took her sister’s life, so I’ll stop there so I don’t ruin anything! I highly recommend this book!
Not bad, even if the heroine made me want to kick her a few times. Also, there should have been a little more groveling on the MMC's side. Overall, though, a pretty decent book, good enough that I am interested in trying more from this author.
Book 1 was a great introduction to Shadow Pines. A little predictable but with a twist you knew was coming but didn't know how. I love these characters and can't wait for book 2.
it started off very slow, I was almost tempted to skim, but I didn't want to miss any details. I'm glad I didn't because things unfolded the way they needed to. I really liked Wren and Logan. Can't wait for Viv's story
This bookcwas so good started a little slow but once everything got going the story hooked me. Wren and Logan are an amazing couple and I can't wait to see their story blossom in the next book.
What a brilliant start to this new series! This author is why I got hooked on shifter books but most especially wolf shifters. She writes them in such a way that I get totally immersed in the story and fall in love with the characters. Such as the case with Logan and Wren’s story. Logan left the Pack along with his Sister many years ago, but is called back, reluctantly so. He’s apprehensive to see everyone because of what happened, but little could he know that he was needed to come back to take over. When he meets Wren, never in a million years could he have ever thought that Fate would make them mates. The angst, the push and pull, the sparks and chemistry between them is unreal. I swear I thought I would need a fire extinguisher to put out the flames coming off my Kindle. These two are complete perfection. Quite a bit goes on in this story that will make your head spin! But I rooted for Logan and Wren throughout. I can’t wait to read more stories in this series! This author has completely blown me away with the details and the storyline. Brilliant!
This story has a lot of potential. I liked the fated Mates and enemies to lovers aspect.
There us a bit of mystery but I would have liked that more expound on instead of it seemed Logan leaving over what happened to his ex Lark ... Wren's sister was repeated a lot. If what the old Alpha was doing and why he got I'll was on page thered been more excited and this could been a five. Having said that I call it werewolf lite. It's not dark or gory and the stuff the old alpha did is off page so for some this will be perfect.
