Jess finally enjoys his time resting in his lake house in Stratton with Wildcat, Bodine and Reedy. After parting ways with the beautiful and deadly female bounty hunter, he was back on the hunt for Van Isidor, a man who had still eluded him.
He eventually gets Isidor, but not before he hears about a beloved preacher from the town of Sawyer who was murdered and the church money taken.
He then starts his hunt for the culprit, Cristian Lyon, and finds help in an old friend. The huge timber wolf named Shadow.
Along the way, there is a brutal murder of a town marshal in Crawford. What got Jess’s attention was the brutal way in which the marshal and his family were murdered, including his wife and two young children.
It brings back old memories of his family’s murders and he begins his hunt for the two killers.
He will deliver his personal form of justice to them…and they will pay.

Either you're a Jess Williams groupie or your not. Count me in. Five might be a tad generous but I'm going with it. You can take a star off if you don't like dogs ......or wolves by default. But who wouldn't like Shadow a wolf who hangs on your every word an anticipated your every wish. Wish Shadow was in more stories.

Wonderful to read another story with Shadow. A partner for Jess. A very intelligent and friendly timber wolf. Jess follows the tracks to two killers who butcher the family of Sheriff. Shadow helps capture them.
I have every Jess Williams book and have loved them all. But, as I have mentioned in a few other reviews, there were still quite a few errors (especially spelling) that would have been caught by a good proofreader or editor. When I see them it always makes me pause in disappointment.
I've read them all. I was very happy to see, no challenges in this book. That has gotten EXTREMELY old fast. I refused to read the one where that was all that happened. Blood Money. Love it when Shadow and Wildcat are involved. As always looking forward to the next one.
I love Shadow or Wildcat are part of the story. They work well with Jess. Two bad men kill a Marshall and his entire family. Jess goes on the hunt, helping people along the way.
I have read every volume of this series ! Enjoyed each and everyone of his work. Especially like that each story is clean and different. great to read stories where the good guy always wins. Keep up the good work. Waiting on next book.
I’m a big fan of the Jess Williams series. I’ve read every book. They are all great, but I especially enjoy any one of them that the timber wolf shadow is included in.
Jess is joined by the big timber wolf, Shadow, in this book. Good to meet Shadow again. He is missed when not helping Jess deal justice to the worst of the worst.
