You won’t find a step-by-step recipe here, but you will find a bunch of real situations that make you stop and think - about what you’re doing wrong, what you might need to change and what’s actually working for you (or what you should finally start doing).
I learned as much from this as I did from my graduate psych books & ones on mindfulness. I wish I would have read it years ago. Easy to read & apply the techniques. It really helps reframe your thoughts & w/practice change the neg to the pos.
I just finished reading Unstressable by Mo Gawdat and Alice Law. This book is a holistic guide to understanding and mitigating stress - something that we ALL struggle with in different ways throughout our lives.
I found the beginning portion of the book particularly engaging, where Mo drew on his engineering background to describe the science behind stress. I had many 'ah ha' moments when the authors guided us thorugh the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual side of stress where the content related directly to how I have felt in my life. The book also offered several practical approaches, actionable steps, and tools to manage and reduce stress. Of course, not all are going to work for everyone, but I have already taken a few of them and felt a difference in the way I respond and cope with stress. I enjoyed the combination of scientific research with personal anecdotes.
I will say that the book lost a little momentum for me towards the end - it didn't quite finish on the punch that I felt it should have given the powerful beginning. Nonetheless, it is a book I would highly recommend (and have already done so to many of my friends and colleagues). Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Having recently realized I need to work on stress mgmt I came across this guy's podcast and picked up this book. There are def some good techniques to apply to one's life. Mainly to be more aware of all the stressors that come at us in the course of a day and then how to destress. There is some confusion about the difference between soul and spirit, but the authors are not spiritual gurus. Overall, I would recommend it and applying the principles to your life.
This one was really good! I sometimes get annoyed by the "just do it" mentally of a lot of self-help books while they ignore emotions, traumas, our spirit, or health. Then on the other hand, always only being kind and understanding will limit you and keep you stuck as well. This book finds the perfect balance between both, with acknowledging that life is not always easy, and providing practical tips how to deal with it anyways.
Great info regarding the sources of our stressors and how we choose to react to them. Tips on how to regard modern life's noise and nuisances. Caused me to check how much time I was actually spending on screens esp phones. Audio book read by Mo was a great help too. Thanks to Mo and his co- writer Alice Law.
I picked this book off the shelf at the library through curiosity and decided to read it. What I liked was its written by two authors with different styles which I enjoyed. Some very relevant and practical ideas too. I’ve shared a few tips and tricks with others - enjoyed their podcast too.
