Do It Yourself Probate Guide

Rate this book
This ‘Do-It-Yourself Probate Guide’ – takes all of the mystique out of probate. This guide shows how all the property of a deceased person can be transferred to the new rightful owners through basic clerical procedures without legal assistance.

The guide was first published in 1975 and is current and updated. Recent research has shown that greater than ninety percent of probated estates do not involve legal research or writing, or any other skills associated exclusively with lawyers. Probate is not complicated. All the terms and procedures are laid out in lay terms in the Guide. After becoming familiar with the terminology – the reader should be able to complete an informal probate following the ten simple steps outlined on a single page in the Guide.

Although the UPC , which provides for informal probate, was intended for adoption by all 50 states, the original 1969 version of the code was adopted in its entirety by only sixteen  Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Utah. The remaining states have adopted various portions of the code in a piecemeal fashion.

Therefore our Do-It-Yourself Guide may only be useful only for the above listed states at this time.
