Light 'em Up by Kelly Jamieson is book 5 in the Bang Brothers Hockey series

Annie Bang

I’m thrilled to be working in professional hockey, since my five brothers are all hockey players. My new role as skating coach to the New York Bears is the perfect fit and I can’t wait to whip all these guys into shape so we can win more games. Except one of the guys is Logan Coates—the guy who sent my brother to the hospital in a memorable game three seasons ago. I want nothing to do with him.

Logan Coates

I don’t need some tiny figure skater telling me what to do. I know how to skate. I wouldn’t be in the NHL if I didn’t. Although, I am a fourth liner. I do want more ice time. I want to make a difference on the team. But learning how to figure skate isn’t it. Especially from Annie Bang, who hates my guts. Speaking of guts…she has ’em. She’s a pint-sized badass. And that’s sexy as hell. When I’m around her, my skate blade’s not the only thing made of steel.

Ohh I enjoyed this one. It is definitely good as a standalone, but I want to go back and read the other stories to catch up on the HEAs that happened in the previous one. This was SPICY! The sparks jumped off the page and it was completely understandable why they couldn’t stay apart. I don’t know if I would have donned a Sister’s habit to sneak around for a s3xcapade session, but it was hilarious. Overall a really good romance read.

Annie Bang has been dealing with hockey players her whole life. You know, with her five brothers playing professionally and all. After an injury forces her to retire from figure skating, she works her way up the ranks as a skating coach. Sure she’s little, and female, and a previous figure skater but handling these boys’ attitudes is child’s play. Except for one. Logan is the reason this team wasn’t her first choice, but they are the ones that offered her a chance to move up to the NHL. Logan is the player that hurt her brother so bad they weren’t sure if he would play again, and also the guy she had an explosive one night stand (24 hrs in bed?!) with at the Winter Olympics 6 years ago. She can do this. It will be fine.

Thank you to Literary Media Tours for the copy, all thoughts are my own.

I love that the book starts and end with a diary entry. Lets you know how much momma Bang loves her kids and wants the happiness she has.

Annie and Logan have a history. A very HOTT history and also a very not so nice history so coming face to face with the man isn’t easy but having to coach him is even worse especially because the attraction is still there!

I loved the friendship that Annie and Logan formed and the fact that they had a history. It really played beautifully into their story. I love the strength that Annie has and her need to be her own person. I also love the focus on mental health in this book and the need to speak what you feel. You don’t see alot of books touch on sensitive issues and Kelly did a beautiful job weaving in the need for help and that it’s a beautiful thing not something to be ashamed of.

So much love in the pages!

This was a great read. It's my second ever sports romance read. Also my second ice hockey romance read. Yes I've only read two ice hockey romances! I loved the story that developed between Annie and Logan and that she went to bat for him with her family! All the characters were so engaging and fun to read about. There were spicy scenes so of course this is not suitable for under 18s. Everything about this book checked all boxes. Good plot which did not lose out to spice. If you love a sports romance then I recommend this. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series!!

Universal

Annie Bang has lived her entire life in her famous hockey god brothers' shadows, but now's the time she's going to step out from behind and live her life for herself, her mother and brothers' wishes be damned. Unfortunately, the feelings she's developed are for one of her new charges, the man who put one of her brothers in the hospital after a dirty play. Can she deny her feelings to save upsetting her family? Is Logan really the bad guy they all think he is?

Logan's determined to move up the line on his hockey team, the Bears. But learning how to skate better?! He's not sure, OK, he knows, that's not the answer. Or isn't it? Even though his new coach is Annie Bang, sister of a guy he accidentally put in the hospital, and even though she hates him, he's finding her coaching successful. And now the two are developing a friendship turning more, and he's not about to do anything to jeopardize that, will even hide it if that's what she wants. But when their hearts are on the line, will he make that shot, or skate out of her life when he can't handle the heat of his father's endless nagging and her family's disapproval?

Oh these two! I just wanted to give them both big, big hugs. Logan was so not who Annie and her family had thought he was. And he was more than even he had thought he was, and finally stood up to his dad. Thank God Annie realized it too and became Logan's rock, even when it looked like the two of them weren't going to work out as a couple. And poor Annie, she had been in the shadows of her family for so long, and they didn't even realize it. She's so much stronger than they had ever thought, though, and was able to carve out her own niche in the world, and even found the love of her life while doing it. Mama Bang was at it again, but I have to say this time she had things all wrong for 99% of the time, and for the first time, I was upset with her. Thankfully, Annie set her and Annie's brother's straight, and things righted in their world. There's one final brother left to fall in love and I am dying of impatience for Tanner and Maeve's story (Hook 'em Hard) to finally arrive on my Kindle!

Oh, how I extremely disliked Annie’s mom for a while. She’s insistent that she knows best. She knows who Annie wants, how flighty she is, and how to settle her down for life. But she’s wrong. So very wrong. So is everyone else, honestly. But Annie finds her voice and proves many things. She proves that she’s capable and strong and a dynamo herself. She proves that Logan isn’t the guy they want to believe and brings evidence to present her case to the jury of her parents and siblings. Because of that, maybe Stella Bang isn’t so bad. But she really does meddle far too much for her kids to take it sitting down, so I love how Annie, Ivan, and even Logan push back on her.

As for Logan, he’s battling his own parental nonsense. A dad who won’t listen, won’t quit, and who only wants a clone of himself. But that man finally does listen and it’s all because Logan finds it in himself to be honest. To be a real man. And to talk about those dreaded feelings we all have brewing inside our heads and hearts. Sure, he’s a cocky something at first, but he’s far from the shallow guy you’d think. He’s actually a whole lot more and is perfect for Annie.

So get ready for parental angst and bickering. Kids proving that they’re not children anymore. And love beating all.

Logan and Annie🥰

Annie Bang is the sister of all the Bang brothers and has just joined the Bears Team as a skating coach. She’s met with resistance from many of the players but no one more so than Logan. However, she doesn’t necessarily like him either, especially after he tackled her brother, Jensen, and he ended up in the hospital and out for the rest of that particular season🙈

Logan is resistant to Annie’s skating lessons but he’s determined to play smarter than he has in previous seasons - so he’s just going to have to suck it up. Even though they don’t “like” each other, it appears their chemistry is off the charts 📈

A good standalone story, but I felt a slight disconnect from the story for some reason - otherwise the forbidden troupe of coach vs player was a good one and I enjoyed some of the other characters❣️ I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review😍

5 Star Review Light ’em Up (Bang Brothers Hockey #5) by Kelly Jamieson

The Bang Brothers is written by multiple authors about the Bang Brothers and their sister and I could not wait to read Light ’em Up by Kelly Jamieson.

This is Annie Bang and Logan Coates’s story and what a fabulous story it was. Ms. Jamieson did a wonderful job with this entertaining story.

I love this family, particularly the interfering Mama Stella Bang, such a wonderful character.

From the moment their eyes collided, the chemistry between them sizzles. However Logan’s previous history with the Bang family will make a relationship an uphill battle.

It was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic as their relationship progressed as these two were meant to be.

Book 5 of the Bang Brothers series, written by Kelly Jamieson and part of her Bears Hockey series.

Includes:
⛸️ Figure skater turned NHL skating coach
🏒 "Enforcer" trying to play smarter
⛸️ Woman in a male dominated field
🏒 Hockey player trying not to be distracted by his coach
⛸️ Hiding her chemistry with a player
🏒 Working through familial pressure

Annie Bang has grown up in the literal and figurative shadow of her 5 hockey star brothers. After her figure skating career comes to an end, she makes her NHL debut...as the Bears new skating coach. The Bears are not her first choice. Why? Well the Bears is the team her one time hookup who then put her brother in the hospital with a dirty hit plays for. And Logan Coates, who's trying to change his image as an enforcer to a player who uses actual skill and game knowledge, reluctantly needs Annie's help to clean up his skating.

Kelly incorporated serious conversations about some of the very real issues that plague the NHL which was a refreshing change that made the story feel more real plus lots of opportunities where Annie needed to stand up to condescending men. There was something so satisfying about seeing Annie put the fear of God into some of these giant NHLers as she put them in her place. I also really enjoyed her friendship with Ivan because he's hilarious and you know we love a good rodeo! 😉😉😂 And the grand gesture at the end was so darn cute, I loved it!!!!

The plot of this book was great but something made it hard for me to fully dive into the story. About 15% in we found our rhythm and it was much smoother from then on, though something still kept me from fully clicking with it. Highly recommend reading it because it is a really fun book and builds on such a great series!

Fun, steamy & entertaining

Kelly Jamieson's LIGHT 'em UP, the 5th book in the Bang Brothers series by multiple authors, is yet another fun, steamy, and entertaining addition to the series. A second chance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity hockey romance which held me captivated from the first page. A former figure skater, now a skating coach, and a hockey player who have history between them, both good and bad, are thrown together in a professional capacity.

Former Olympic figure skater Annie Bang has moved to New York for her position as the bears skating coach. Always feeling invisible around her NHL playing brothers, she's determined to shine in her new role. Her only hesitancy is the player who injured her brother plays for the Bears, the player with whom she shared a steamy night with a few years back, Logan Coates. Logan plays on the fourth line, he's been training hard and is determined to move up the lines and have more of a playing impact. Not only is he feeling pressure from his coaches, he's also being pressured by his father.

Annie struggles with both her loyalty to her family and her animosity toward Logan, especially after he apologises to her for the past. Logan is skeptical in regard to having to "learn" to skate, but as time passes, he realizes that what Annie is teaching is helping his playing. The chemistry between them is obvious, and increases with the more time they spend together. Their connection and friendship deepen as they share their frustrations and dreams. I love the support and encouragement they give each other; their banter was wonderful. and their heat was molten. Keeping their relationship was a priority, not only because of complications it may cause at work, but also because of Annie's family. When Mama Bang finally makes her appearance, she is not happy with the situation, she wants Annie with her roommate, her old skating partner Ivan (who really needs a book of his own). I must admit I didn't like Mama Bang's attitude in this book, she came across as being uncaring, which really isn't her, I understood where it stems from but it just seemed out of character for her.

I loved every page of this book. Annie and Logan were perfect together. I fell for them easily and quickly, they were relatable, especially with the doubts they had about themselves and the determination they had to succeed in their careers. I loved that Annie and Logan found a way to stand up for themselves to those who were meant to love and support them the most. I enjoyed the camaraderie between Logan and his teammates, their banter often hilarious. When Annie's family learns the truth of her relationship the initial reactions were not pretty, but when another truth is revealed, I loved the support and love they gave her.

From beginning to end LIGHT 'em UP was a terrific story, it was fun, emotional, confronting, spicy, and highly entertaining. Kelly's words drew me in, and I didn't want to put the book down until the story ended. It was another fabulous read in this series. Highly recommended.

This is my least favorite of the books (and only 1 more to go). First, the writing. Not only were there some editing issues (wrong words, not misspelled but clearly the wrong word that an editor should have noticed), but the author chose, deliberately, to use what can only be described as fandom language. First in chapter 3:

"When Ivan and I skated together, after we won a few competitions and got somewhat known, especially after our first (and only) appearance at the Olympics, figure skating fans started shipping us."

At first, I thought it was a mistake. A missed editing issue. But then in Chapter 4:

"Even though we denied we were in a relationship and insisted to the media we were just friends, the shipping continued."

And finally in chapter 18:

"She's been shipping us since we partnered up."

Okay, I admit I'm Gen X. So I thought this was a Millennial or even Gen Z term. So I asked my assistant who is a Millennial and has been teaching me the millennial lingo. She didn't know what the term was. She googled it and we learned that it's a term is rooted in fandom culture, particularly online, where fans create and share content (like fan fiction) centered around their favorite pairings. Um, okay, but maybe don't use it in a book. Yes, I understood what the author was trying to convey from the context, but even my assistant said it sounded dumb. The Millennial has spoken.

Second, the author overuses/misuses parentheses. It seemed every time Logan mentions one of his his teammates, there is a parentheses either giving their nickname if Logan says/thinks their full name or their full name if Logan things/says their nickname. Why? Did we need to understand that "Evan Russell (Russ)" or "Barbie . . . (real name Igor Barbashev)". Isn't there another way to do that rather than overuse paraentheses? And not just for the names, but for other trivial things that either don't need to be included or could have simply been written in without needing to use a parenthesis. For example: "It involved crazy glue (stolen from a teacher's supply closet)"; The other Heller brothers . . . Logan (a different Logan) [yeah, no shit since you started off the sentence with HELLER brothers vice Logan COATES]; "which comes with Mediterranean beans (protein and fiber)"; and on and on. Too overused. It was like this was someone's diary instead of a published book.

Finally, WTF. The first 4 books, couldn't really tell a difference between the authors and how they characterized Mama Bang. This book, it was like a completely different Mama Bang. She went from an understanding and accepting person to being a giant bey-otch and she just felt shrill and superficial vice the loving, caring person she was in the first 4 books.

So this one quickly became my least fave despite that it had potential. I thought she dealt really nicely addressing the whole pro sports/toxic masculinity issue. But the writing and the characterization just killed this story for me.

LIGHT ‘EM UP by Kelly Jamieson is the fifth instalment in the contemporary, adult, multi-authored hockey romance series focusing on the Bang siblings. This is former figure skater turned skating coach Annie Bang, and professional hockey player Logan Coates. LIGHT ‘EM UP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. For followers of Kelly Jamieson, the story line is set in the author’s Bears Hockey series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Annie and Logan) LIGHT ‘EM UP follows the forbidden relationship between Annie Bang and Logan Coates. Annie Bang is the new skating coach for the professional hockey team the New York Bears but Annie never expected to come face to face with Logan Coates, a one-night from six years earlier, and the man who almost destroyed her brother’s career.Working with each member of the team, Annie teaches strength and agility but most of the players become defensive when a figure skater threatens everything they thought they knew including our story line hero. Logan Coates’ knows his reputation precedes his introduction to Annie Bang but not everything is as it appears to be. What ensues is the building but secret relationship between Annie and Logan, and the potential fall-out when their affair is revealed.

The world building focuses on the proverbial ‘elephant in the room’. Logan’s take down of Annie’s brother was an accident but the ensuing penalty, suspension, and fan negativety added more heart break to our hero’s already floundering self-esteem. Too many injuries ended Annie Bang’s figure skating career, and in an effort to prove herself worthy of being a ‘Bang’ sibling, Annie focused on getting a job in the NHL.

The relationship between Annie and Logan is one of second chances, of a sorts. A one-night stand six years earlier, and their careers going in different directions culminates in a rekindling but potentially forbidden romance. Annie is the team’s skating coach, and Logan is off limits as far as Annie is concerned . Keeping their relationship on the down-low, Annie must come to terms with betraying her entire family, a family she believes had given up on our story line heroine. Logan doesn’t want to be Annie’s dirty little secret, and finds himself struggling with his own issues of low self esteem. The $ex scenes are passionate and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and charismatic secondary and supporting characters. We are reintroduced to several members of the Bears team and coaching staff, as well as Logan’s parents, and Annie’s brothers, mom and dad.

LIGHT ‘EM UP is a story of secrets, family, friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating and emotional; the romance is seductive ; the characters are charismatic and compelling.

🔥 Light 'em Up by Kelly Jamieson is the book you didn’t know you needed! Get ready for sizzling chemistry, fiery banter, and an unforgettable ride through the hockey rink.

📚 Read if you like: enemies-to-lovers, sports romance, hockey series, strong heroines, banter-filled romance.

Annie Bang is stepping onto the ice, not as a player, but as the New York Bears’ new skating coach—and she’s ready to prove that figure skating can change the game. However, her job becomes a lot more complicated when she has to coach Logan Coates, a man who injured her brother in a brutal game three years ago. She’s determined to keep things strictly professional, but Logan has other plans. Sparks fly, blades clash, and soon enough, Annie and Logan find themselves caught between resentment and undeniable attraction.

👨‍👧 Annie & Logan are total opposites—she’s disciplined, fierce, and talented; he’s a gritty fourth-liner, hungry for more ice time and redemption. They’ve got history, and it’s not the good kind. But watching them navigate their differences and their explosive chemistry is one wild ride. Annie’s strength and Logan’s vulnerability make them an intriguing pair, and their growth throughout the story is heartwarming.

💞 The romance between Annie and Logan is a slow-burn rollercoaster of emotions. The tension crackles every time they’re in the same room, and once they finally give in, it’s nothing short of electric. Their bond isn’t just physical; it’s built on trust, respect, and a growing understanding that sometimes, love means breaking down barriers and learning to forgive.

👧 The Bang brothers are back! While this book focuses on Annie, the rest of the family plays a crucial role, offering support, humor, and those classic sibling dynamics that add depth to the story. You’ll love how they rally around her while still giving her space to be her own person.

✍️ Kelly Jamieson nails it with her crisp, witty writing and deeply emotional storytelling. The pacing is spot-on, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The banter between Annie and Logan is especially entertaining, and Jamieson’s ability to create tension makes this a hard-to-put-down read.

🌟 This story was perfectly written and was just the right amount of everything you are looking for. Light 'em Up is more than just a sports romance; it’s a tale of redemption, forgiveness, and finding love where you least expect it. Highly recommended for fans of the Bang Brothers series, but also for anyone who loves a good, feel-good romance that will make you swoon.

Fighting for approval!

In this amazing book from The Bang Brother’s Hockey series we get book 5 written by Kelly Jamieson. Follow along with the Bang family and five other amazing authors. We see old friend from from Kelly’s Bears Hockey ll series and the Heller family. So fun. Annie and Logan have so much chemistry and I was cheering them on from the beginning. The authors writing is flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: Annie Bang

I’m thrilled to be working in professional hockey, since my five brothers are all hockey players. My new role as skating coach to the New York Bears is the perfect fit and I can’t wait to whip all these guys into shape so we can win more games. This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in single POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

The Bang Brothers Hockey series has been the highlight of my summer! Light 'em Up by Kelly Jamieson is the fifth book in the series, and so far, my absolute favorite! Of course, I'm biased because Kelly is one of my favorite authors. However, it's more than that. This book is different from the previous books in regards to Stella "Mama Bang" and her matchmaking mission. This is the story of Annie Bang.

Annie Bang is looking forward to her new job as the skating coach for the New York Bears. Annie has been surrounded by hockey her entire life, and this move to being a coach in the NHL is a perfect fit for her. However, there is one problem...and his name is Logan Coates.

Logan has a history with the new skating coach for his team... good and bad memories. He wants more time on the ice and is skeptical that a former figure skater can help him skate better. However, as time goes by, he realizes Annie is actually helping him to play better. Their relationship started out on bad terms, but like with his skating, it has also improved. Everything is going good between them... both on and off the ice... until Mama Bang shows up.

The story that unfolds is absolutely amazing. The characters are extremely well-written and realistic. I love the family dynamics that come into play with both Annie and Logan, even though it isn't always in a good way. Stella is different in this story compared to the previous books. As a parent myself, I understand where Stella is coming from. Right or wrong, a mother tends to be more protective over their daughters and their choices in regards to relationships than they do with their sons. However, Annie was determined to follow her own heart and not the wishes of Stella. Of course, this caused some issues, but Annie held her ground.

Overall, this was such a wonderful story and great addition to the Bang Brothers Hockey series. The characters are so well developed and Annie is such a strong female character. Growing up in a family of five brothers, she had to be strong. The chemistry between Annie and Logan is off the charts, and they truly are perfect for one another! They both had to overcome a lot to get where they are, and together, they can achieve even more great things in the future! I'm looking forward to the final book in this series.

I received an ARC from the author. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

The Bang brothers and their mother Stella have brought me endless joy this summer, but Kelly Jamieson has outdid herself, friends. Do yourself a favor and download this book IMMEDIATELY! Then set aside the day and binge this book with a full cup of coffee and a box of tissues. You will need it.
Annie Bang certainly feels like she has a lot to live up to in the hockey world given her dad is a former NHL’er and she has 5 brothers currently in the NHL. But this girl is making her own way. As a former figure skater Annie has a lot of talent on the ice and while she might not be making big hard hits like her brothers, that doesn’t mean her sport is any less ruthless. As a former figure skater I love how Kelly portrayed the sport, and Annie as an athlete because that is what she is.
Kelly does such an amazing job of encouraging her hero’s to open up and talk about their feelings and emotions. Logan that he lets the world see is not the person he wants to be. He has such a big heart. Talk about character growth, Logan evolved so much and really worked to be the person that he wanted to be, the one he knew inside but never really let on outside. He learned to be vulnerable and ask for help when he needed it.
I devoured this book and really never wanted it to end. There are so many amazing scenes and quotes, I had over 40 highlights in the book so I can’t imagine picking a favorite. Annie and Logan clearly have serious chemistry and are just naturally drawn to one another. Not only is their banter top notch but their sexual chemistry is on FIRE. Kelly can write the heck out of a steamy scene and she did not disappoint with Annie and Logan! This pair really balances each other out so well. Logan might look tough but he is such a golden retriever and wants what is best for Annie and is willing to forgo a broken heart for her. From previous books it is clear that the Bang family is close and are very protective of one another, but especially Annie ... .and maybe a little too far! But in true Annie fashion is not afraid to put her family in their place, and be vulnerable and honest with them!
The figure skating and coaching ties really tied so many aspects of my real life into this book and I think that is what made me love it more. If you love a family series with a lot of hockey this definitely is the series for you! I have loved every.single.moment I have spent with this family and I wish they had 10 kids!

Great sports romance! Quick read, great plot, excellent characters. I have read quite a few of Kelly Jamieson's books and she never disappoints. This book is part of the "Bang Brothers" series even though the main character is actually the Bang daughter Annie. I have not read any of the other books in this particular series but this can be read as a stand alone.

This book follows Annie Bang, a former figure skater turned skating coach for the NHL, and Logan Coates, an NHL hockey player. Annie and Logan met years ago at the Olympics and had an epic night together and an undeniable connection. Nothing ever went further than that one night however especially when Logan inadvertently puts Annie's brother in the hospital due to a "dirty" hit in hockey. She never forgave him for that and cannot stand him. However when she gets hired by the Bears hockey franchise and Logan is on the team, she has no choice but to at least tolerate him. Logan doesn't think he needs a skating coach but his management thinks otherwise. He is definitely not open to learning from Annie. But Logan wants to change his playing style. He no longer wants to be the enforcer on the team but wants to work his way up to a higher line. If working with Annie helps that, he'll do it. As the two work together, Annie also starts to learn a little bit about Logan's upbringing and why he plays the way he does. Both have a lot of emotional baggage from how they were raised even though both came from good homes. As the two form a relationship, Annie knows it will affect her job with the team and her relationship with her family that dislikes Logan. Logan doesn't feel like he deserves love unless there is something in it for the other person...always an ulterior motive. Will the two be able to find their footing and make a relationship work or will they not fight for what they want?

Great read - I love the emotion in the book. It makes the characters more real knowing they aren't perfect and have their own issues. I especially love how she delves into the emotions and baggage of the male lead (Logan). Definitely recommend.

Light ‘Em Up is part of Kelly Jamieson’s Bears Hockey series and also a part of the Bang Brothers, only the Bang in this book is Annie Bang, the youngest sibling, only girl, a former pairs ice skater turned professional skating coach for the New York Bears and she’s going to have to confront Logan Coates, a man she had a fantastic 48 hours with when they both competed in the Olympics and also the man that injured one of her brothers badly in a game. Can you say awkward? Only it really wasn’t, instead it was longing glances, sizzling chemistry, and a few barbs to make it interesting.

I was immediately drawn into the story and I’ll admit I didn’t put it down until I finished; read it cover to cover and I’m not sorry in the least. I loved that they had a past they both had good memories about and that Logan was genuinely sorry about the accident that hurt her brother and swore to her it truly was an accident not intentional. Most of all I appreciated that Logan wanted to change his playing style not only because he wanted to move up from the fourth line but he didn’t really want to be an enforcer he wanted to contribute in other ways. Enter the new team owners, new coach, and his teammates to give him the courage to make those changes and not only that confront his bullying father. Watching him navigate all the feelings he had towards his father who wanted him to be a “goon” and understanding he could play the game he wanted not the one his father thought he should play was satisfying and uplifting.

Meanwhile as Annie and Logan grow closer Annie’s mom comes to town to try and get her and her former skating partner and current roommate together as a couple which leads to her confession she’s involved with Logan, the man her entire family hates.

As they both navigate their relationships with their families, they both realize how much they want each other in their life.

Kelly Jamieson once again offers up and amazing and sizzling romance. As a long time reader the icing on the cake was seeing more of the Heller brothers (the new team owners) and a mention of a Wynn in this book.

This is book five in The Bang Brother’s Hockey series and it is Annie and Logan’s story. Annie and Logan have history because they spent one explosive night together but things happened and it didn’t work out. Annie has Five brothers who are all famous hockey players and she had always felt like she wasn’t good enough but now she hopes that it is her time to shine as a skating coach for The New York Bears but she knows that it will not be easy and she will have to work extra hard to prove herself so imagine her reaction when one of the men is Logan who put one of her brothers in hospital so now her job had just become even harder and more complicated. Logan is a fourth liner professional hockey player in the NHL for The New York Bears and he isn’t happy about having a female figure skater trying to tell them what to do and how to skate which he already knows and sees it as pointless and on top of that Annie hates him so much for something that happened in there past but unfortunately Logan can’t help but still be attracted to this pint size, sassy, strong and beautiful woman which is something that he definitely didn’t need at this time in his career. Logan and Annie still hadn’t forgotten the night that they spent together or the chemistry and connection between them that just seems to get even stronger as time goes on and even though they both try hard to ignore it unfortunately some things really can’t be forgotten which could put both of their careers in jeopardy. Wow this book will certainly take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and you will feel everything as if you are there living through it with them. This book will pull you into the storyline and keep your attention throughout the whole book and you will find yourself turning the pages because you just can’t put it down or stop reading it as it is so addictive. I absolutely loved Annie and Logan and even though they had many ups and downs and there relationship was definitely not plain sailing they made such a perfect couple and deserved a happy ending. I definitely recommend that you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

You would think that Annie Bang had an easy life with her 5 brothers playing hockey. But actually she didn’t at all. She always felt left out, forgotten by her parents, especially her mother. As a former Olympian in figuring skating she is now using her skills in a new area, as a skating coach for the New York Bears NHL team. She knows what she is doing, she knows that if they follow her drills, learn new skills it can take their game to the next level. She wasn’t expecting though that a blast from the past and now the family enemy would be on the team. There was no denying the connection between the two of them from the past was still there, but would they be able to work through everything or would it come back to haunt them both.

Logan Coates had a reputation because of one incident in the past, okay maybe two if you count the night at the Olympics years ago when he and a certain figure skater had an incredible night together. But that night became nothing when he injured her brother seriously in what was deemed a dirty hit during a game. Logan wasn’t looking forward to dealing with her and her hatred for him now, learning how to “skate” again and his father putting his opinion on everything. Now they just have to work everything out for better or worse because if they do, what can be done on and off the ice will take them both to an incredible place.

This is the 5th book in the Bang Brothers series even though this is actually about the sister Annie. It touches on multiple areas and holds your attention throughout the whole book. Kelly Jamieson has managed to tie it into her Bears Hockey series and really loved the book. While it is part of 2 different series you can actually read it on its on. On a side note, in all honesty I haven’t always liked Mama Bang in a lot of ways. She almost seems like one of those annoying mother in laws or helicopter parents. She always thinks she knows what is right, she is trying to interfere but she needs to keep her nose out of her kids business.

Light ‘Em Up by Kelly Jamieson is the fifth book in the Bang Brothers share universe - a series of contemporary hockey romances following a family of brothers, and a sister, working in the world of professional hockey written by multiple authors.

Light ‘em Up is Annie Bang’s story - a former competitive figure skater now working as a skating coach for an NHL team, Annie is reunited with a one-night stand from her past, Logan. Their relationship is strained due to an on-ice incident between Logan and one of Annie’s brothers, but forced to work together, the two have to finally confront all the complex feelings between them. They rebuild a friendship - then a relationship - while trying not navigate their working relationship as well.

Annie was a great female protagonist - she knows what she wants, goes after it and pursues the career she’s chosen after her figure skating ends due to injury. Logan is a cinnamon roll defenseman who’s trying to build his career and step outside the shadow of his father’s opinions on the way he plays. Once they overcome their differences, they find they have a lot in common and a lot of chemistry, which was really great to read.

One of the through-lines for the series is the mother of the Bang children visiting her kids and trying to see them find their happily ever afters. In previous books I’ve tolerated it, but I have to say I could have done without that side-plot in this one - Mama Bang’s insistence on Annie dating her former skating partner and her reaction to Annie’s relationship with Logan was probably my least favourite part of the series so far, which is frustrating because I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book.

There are also some great discussions about mental health, specifically depression, and also being able to confront parental expectations and finally become your own person.

I received an early copy of Light ‘em Up in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Thanks so much to Literary Media Tours for introducing me to Kelly Jamieson and the Bang Brothers series! I think we all know by now how much I love sports romance, and hockey romance is probably my fave, even though I know less than zero about the actual game 😂 I'm not sure how I'd never heard of this series before I saw the opportunity from Ruthie, so I'm glad I did, because I really liked this sweet and spicy story! I'm thrilled to know that there are already 4 other books, with a final one on the way, for me to enjoy 🎉 And even if hockey romance isn't your jam, Kelly has a *massive* backlist which has something for everyone!

While the title of the series is the Bang Brothers, this one actually deals with the lone Bang sister, Annie. You can imagine how it must've felt for Annie, growing up as the sole girl, with 5 older brothers who are all huge hockey-playing beast boys. But Annie is tiny and not cut out for the game of hockey, so she turns to ice skating, at which she is amazing. She's been to several Olympic Games as a pairs skater, and it's at one of those Games she has an incredible one night stand with a player for the USA hockey team, Logan Coates. Fast forward 8 years, though, and Annie has had to leave competitive skating behind thanks to injuries. Also during that time, Logan came up against one of Annie's brothers in a game and laid a hit on him that caused serious injury, so her entire family hates him. So when she finds herself with a new job as a skating coach for Logan's NHL team, they're immediately off to a rocky start.

This one's sweet, funny, heartwarming, and also spicy. Annie and Logan both need to figure out who they are as individuals as they discover whether or not they can be something as a pair. I loved them both so much and they're just adorable together 🤩

Read this one if you like: Sports Romance, Enemies to Lovers, Matchmaking, One Night Stand, Brother’s Rival, and Workplace Romance!

RATING: 4 stars!

I have been waiting for the only Bang daughter and I loved Annie so much. “Light ‘em Up” is a flirty, steamy and heartfelt workplace hockey romance that was a fantastic addition to the series.

Annie Bang is a former figure skater and now one of the new coaches for the New York Bears. Her years on the ice have trained her to help the players skate faster and better. One of the players on the team, Annie has a personal history with. Logan Coates is working his hardest to remain on the team and even more up in the lines. He’s hesitant at first working on his skating and spending time with Annie. But as the two spend time together, the chemistry they had all those years ago starts to resurface.

I loved the connection and chemistry that Annie and Logan had. It was instant from the start and only grew as the story went on. Annie, known as Mini Bang, has always lived in the shadows of her five successful brothers and had been trying to shine on her own. I loved that she became a skating coach in the NHL, being able to use all the natural skills she had from figure skating. She’s smart and a hard worker, which shines throughout the story. Logan is an incredible guy and I liked him from the first chapter. He too had lived under the shadow of his former player father’s schedule and wanted to be his own player. The two had that connection and I think that helped bring them back together as more than player/coach. The steamy scenes were delicious and showed how connected they were. Mama Bang makes her appearance and it surprised me how she wasn’t excited for Logan to be in Annie’s life. It showed how differently she treated Annie and it opened her eyes to things she had been missing in Annie’s life. The ending for them was perfect and I can’t wait to read the youngest Bang sibling’s book next.

𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 '𝐞𝐦 𝐔𝐩 by Kelly Jamieson is the 5th book in the multi-author 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 Hockey series, following each of the Bang siblings as they fall in love, with the help of their meddling mama.😅 However, in this story, it’s only daughter Annie’s turn. She’s former Olympic figure skater and now the new skating coach for a hockey team. The problem is that she has to work with Logan Coates—the same guy who put one of her brothers in the hospital with a hit during a game 3 years ago and also her ex. She’s fighting her own hostility and her attraction. Logan was trying to learn to be a new type of player, but can he learn new tricks from the woman who hates him and still turns him on?

I’ve really enjoyed these books so far, and this one was no exception! I loved that it was a second chance with some enemies to lovers vibes, and was surprised by the depth of the emotion in both Annie and Logan’s journey. Annie as a coach was strong, confident, and inspirational, totally masking the vulnerabilities she was feeling in other areas of her life. I enjoyed watching Logan evolve in his game and as a man. Their rekindled connection grew from friendship this time, making it stronger, and yet, that chemistry was still plenty spicy!😍🔥 Mama Stella surprised me in this one. Her radar needed recalibrated.😂 All the family drama did have me in my feels. I appreciated the way the authentic emotions and mental health were addressed throughout the book. Watching people find the strength and power to stand up for themselves is so inspiring! There were some great friendships as well that offered support and banter along the way, and I loved they way it turned out in the end! One more to go, and I can’t wait!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Annie Bang is a professional skating coach for the New York Bears hockey team. Coming from a family where her five brothers are all hockey players, she’s no stranger to the sport. She’s determined, skilled, and not afraid to stand her ground. Annie’s new role is complicated by her history with Logan Coates, who injured her brother in a game three seasons ago.

Logan Coates is a fourth-line player for the New York Bears, striving for more ice time and a bigger impact on the team. He’s skeptical about needing a skating coach, especially one as petite as Annie, whom he believes holds a grudge against him for the incident involving her brother. Despite his initial resistance, Logan finds himself drawn to Annie’s fierce spirit and undeniable talent.

“Light ‘Em Up” is a captivating addition to the Bang Brothers Hockey series, blending sports action with sizzling romance. Annie’s fierce determination and Logan’s evolving character create a dynamic and engaging storyline. The tension from their past adds depth to their interactions, making their eventual connection all the more satisfying. Kelly Jamieson a new to me author skillfully balances the elements of hockey, personal growth, and romance, resulting in a must-read for fans of the genre.

Their professional relationship is tested as they navigate the challenges of their past and present. The tension between them eventually gives way to mutual respect and undeniable chemistry. As they spend more time together, both on and off the ice, they confront their feelings and the obstacles that stand in their way.

Both Annie and Logan must confront their past grievances and find a way to forgive each other to move forward. Annie’s journey as a skating coach and Logan’s pursuit of more ice time highlight their dedication to The slow-building romance between Annie and Logan showcases the development of their relationship from adversaries to partners. As a new to me author Kelly did not disappoint and I plan go back and read the previous books in this series !

This is the 5th book in the Bang series by multiple authors that is set in Ms Jamieson's Bears Hockey Series. This book could easily be read as a standalone without any issues but for the full Bang experience you will want to start at the beginning. An angsty second chance, enemies to lover, forced proximity, office relationship story that will draw you in from the beginning.

Annie is super excited for this new opportunity but also scared that she won't be good enough at this new job. Having to retire from figure skating due to injuries, she is not a skating coach for an NHL hockey team. I mean she is a Bang after all hockey is in her blood. She just need to get a bunch of alpha hockey players to listen to her and give her techniques a try. Her biggest concern is Logan, who she had a history with both good and bad.

Logan has decided that he is going to do things a little differently this year. He wants to do more on the ice to help his team be better, and in his mind it doesn't included being the enforcer his dad is determined he should be. His goal is to move up from 4th line. Knowing he is a more senior guy on the team he tries to put his differences aside and see if Annie can help him move up the lines.

Annie and Logan never expected the connection that is fast to spark once they get past the bad history of thier past. But with both of them dealing with interferring parents and Annie's new position it makes it hard to see where things could go.

Grab your copy and see if they have enough spark to confront their family issues, overcome the workplace issue and see if this relationship has staying power.

I adored this story for including a badass woman doing better than all of the men around her. She's a FMC we can all look up to who knows her worth and doesn't take any flack from the boys, love to see it. While she is a petite woman, she doesn't let that become her whole personality. Overall she's a fun character who I would love to be friends with.

Speaking of iconic, Logan and Ivan are iconic for loving country music. I love seeing two strong men in sports unafraid to show their love for music which is often teased. I adore Ivan, another character I would adore being friends with. This book does a great job of demonstrating a platonic relationship full of trust with physicality purely from the nature of figure skating.

The only thing I wasn't fully in love with was how there were moments that highly promoted good communication amongst everyone but it felt like it wasn't as fleshed out as it could be. The moment everyone starts talking, it all gets resolved.

This book would be fantastic adapted into a movie. I'd especially love to see Annie and Ivan's skating routine to the song Beggin' as I just know it would be incredible. Or all of the cute moments such as Logan's jealousy that I will not spoil despite how much I want to gush about them.

Overall, this book has lovable characters with personalities, flaws, and complex character dynamics more indicative of real life than the average romance. It would be fantastic as a movie and was an engaging read from cover to cover.
