A character study done wrong, it is stuck in its own inability to break a narrative loop. Every page doles out the same information as the last, albeit with very nice visuals, and it just goes on for far too long. King's prose is like an immovable object that is hellbent on recycling rather than progressing, and it's time for him to put his foot on the gas and get this properly moving before it is too late.

I said it before and I’m going to say again: do yourself a favor and read these comics. This is the best of Wonder Woman I’ve ever read, with the plus of the breathtaking artwork.

Caramba, parece a questão imigratória hodierna né?!

In part 2 of the ‘Sacrifice’ arc, Tom King delivers a gripping psychological analysis that showcases Wonder Woman’s unparalleled mental and emotional resilience.

After facing the Sovereign’s Lasso of Lies last issue, Diana is now forced to endure # the cruel fate of solitary confinement, which is still somehow legal in our real world. To survive, Diana creates an imaginary version of Steve to keep her grounded and sane. King’s dialogue between the two reinforce that Diana isn’t just physically strong, she’s one of the most mentally and emotionally capable heroes around.

Each page is a new convo, in a new location, visualized through Daniel Sampere’s beautiful artwork & Tomeu Morey’s rich colors. One of the standouts includes Sampere’s version of Barcelona, his hometown. The last page was a perfect visual encapsulation of Diana’s grit & determination.

What really stole the show was the backup story featuring Lizzie & corgified versions of Damian & Jon. This was such a fun, light-hearted tale & I have absolutely loved seeing this trio’s relationship grow each issue. Belén Ortega’s art is A+++ as usual & I’m begging DC to give Ortega the series artist job if/when Trinity gets her own solo series.

Overall, Wonder Woman #9 is a must-read that highlights the Amazonian warrior’s unwavering spirit and determination. King’s writing, combined with the talented artwork, makes this issue a standout in the series. Don’t miss it!

A issue they felt long, but on purpose. Dinah is basically being pushed to her limits, tortured by means of being left alone in a dark little room, a prisoner of her mind, and she relies on Steve in her memories to get her through. It's well done, sad, and you really wanna see this villain get his dues soon. Only thing I found unbelievable is she was in their for months and NO one broke her out, not supes, bats, or anyone. Little out there.

A very unique issue telling the power of the love between Diana and Steve, as throughout the issue Diana is talking to a figment of her imagination struggling with loneliness in Sovereign's prison. I really like how this issue tackles the importance of Steve Trevor, not only to Diana, but his role in the book in general. There is plenty of homages to different moments in Wonder Woman's history to appreciate as well. Yet again, Daniel Sampere's art is just stunning to look at. I look forward to future issues.

I have a lot of feelings about this series. I feel this issue lacks the redeeming qualities some of the others have had. They’re trying to break Diana; Diana is unbreakable. So now it’s growing tedious. There were a couple pages last issue featuring the Wonder Girls. I loved those and was hoping we’d see more of that this issue. Nope, no Wonder Girls to be found. The backup stories remain consistent in that the art is great, Lizzie is cute and funny and we learn a lot about her, and the wacky shenanigans are entertaining. However the mischaracterization of Damian and Jon and their friendship persists.

First 6 issues of this title are great. Last issue was good too. This issue is one giant “Wonder Woman in emotional exile” scenario. We spend most of our time in Diana’s head as she’s talking through her solitude with a mental construct of Steve Trevor.

And while this is going on we know peripherally she’s being kept in a dungeon by the Sovereign in an effort to “break” her. This is all fine, but it’s the whole issue and it’s a lot. I’m ready for Diana to bust out of this mental torture and bust some royal heads.

My favorite issue

This was my favorite issue honestly. Diana doing everything to cope with being alone and her accepting her flaws. While still being undefeated that is Diana of Themyscria.

3.5/5😵‍💫’s

It’s ambitious to think you can put your hero through excruciating mental anguish to the point of exhausted delusion without torturing your reader. Ambitious or stupid…

Oof. This is a sad issue in the main even though it showcases Diana's mental fortitude, capacity, and sheer will to *get through* and not get broken. I love the comparison to Superman and Batman, and that got me wondering -- I have only a passing understanding of the basics of Diana's actual history in comics, so I'm curious for anybody who is well versed in this as to whether or not these pages with Trevor harken back to older stories? Is this another area where King is consolidating a muddied history and cleaning up to help build a real legacy? Especially since "Steve" keeps asking who he is. Perhaps it's not just Diana defining herself? I mean obviously this is all taking place in her head so it is about defining herself, but if these pages tie in to historical Wonder Woman, then I wonder if it is trying to re-characterize Steve's position in her life as well.

Anyway that's a bit away from the actual story itself, which as I said was sad to read the escapism needed in solitary confinement to avoid going mad or giving in. The story with Lizzie was just so needed in contrast. It was the perfect pick me up and I loved it so much. Jon and Damian maybe haven't been perfectly characterized but these three together in this story are perfect and so adorable. Lizzie herself is a fun and relatable character, and her facial expressions in this issue are priceless.

The art, coloring, and lettering continue to be fantastic.

The story is *good,* but I think it is only going to become great in the long run. What I mean by that is that from the get-go, King and Sampere have been wanting to establish a story that is mythical and tells the legend of Wonder Woman. With that in mind, the issues continually showcase Diana's moments of incredible endurance, but because that endurance is drawn out, it makes for a slower read.

As a part of the whole, it's a little bit of a drag. However, as long as the overall story has a strong ending that honors what has been set up, in the end everything will read together as a complete and well-rounded odyssey.

An entire issue inside the mind of Diana as she struggles to maintain her mental fortitude and will while trapped within the sovereign’s prison. Sad but also empowering the things our mind will think of in order to get us through our lowest moments.

This is probably the most visually beautiful issue of WW that I’ve seen as well, Sampere knocked it out of the park with the various locales visted and attire Diana adorns amongst her dreams.

What a beautiful issue. There’s some shades of what King has been doing in Love Everlasting here - abruptly restarting the story and jumping wildly between locations - but with a very different outcome. WW and Steve’s love persists across the chasm, pulls Diana through. Plus, Sampere goes wild with some stunning, stunning art.

I did not enjoy this comic book issue. I think it weakened WW immeasurably and was lazy and almost a delay to figure out where this story will go. This had been an excellent series until this issue. Hopefully it will get back on track with the next issue. The only reason I did not rate it with one star is because of Diana herself.

for me,the only good thing to come out of this issue was the interaction between Lizzie and Zatanna(mixed feelings 'bout Dami and Jon as dogs)

And we CLEARLY DIDN'T NEED all the rat stuff in the main story
