Father, I Don’t Want this Marriage is another transmigration/regressed manhwa that did it right! I remember seeing this manhwa last 2023 but it was still ongoing at that time so I decided to get back to it once it’s finished! And as expected, it took me quite a while lol. But oh well, better late than never right, *wink.
Father, I Don’t Want this Marriage is a story of a modern Korean woman who transmigrated into the body of the story’s pitiful villainess. After waking up in her body, she worked hard to change the ending wherein the villainess died. While doing so, she found herself confused because the father who was supposed to be cold to the villainess in the story suddenly shows concern and love for her. Did she successfully get rid of her death flag ending this time?
As you can see in my rating above, I ended up loving this manhwa so much! I was actually surprised because I read a few of its chapters before so that already gave me a hint on how this story will go. I guess it was thanks to the amazing story telling plus those informative and usually funny extras each chapter, hehehe.
There’s a lot of plot twists in this manhwa which left me baffled, so I really can’t wait for you to experience it too. This manhwa also didn’t focus on the FL’s villainess past which is understandable because of her circumstances, but you can’t hear any complaints from me because this manhwa gave me some funny banter between the characters, cute graphics and satisfying love not just romantically but also love between family and friends.
As for the characters, aside from the antagonists, I LOVE everyone! The main characters were very likeable while the side characters were chaotic, wahahaha. I love seeing the FL’s growth throughout the story. Her character design looks like a damsel in distress waiting for her prince, but you’ll be surprised by her courage. You can see her struggling one moment then a minute later you’ll be surprised how she stands her ground and fights. I love that she didn’t just sit around despite being told so by her father and lover, but she ended up rolling her sleeves to help. Also, I really love how cute and at the same time lovely she is. Her character design is chef kisses especially in her childhood.
The ML on the other hand surprised me. His character design looks like a tough guy, so I was really expecting a haughty character to pair it up with. But surprise surprise, this black cat of an ML is equally cute and charming, lol. He always says that about himself, especially at times when he is trying to charm the FL to score points, but he really does look cute and charming at times, lol. I love that he listens so well to FL and is not afraid to cry and kneel just to keep her. He is also very straightforward and has a strong mental health despite his tough childhood. I am really glad that he’s a very good ML considering that red flag MLs are quite a fad these days, lol.
Ofcourse I need to mention the father since he’s basically the second ML of this manhwa, lol. Legis (Juvelle’s father) is probably the most loved character in this manhwa and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s most loved even compared to the main characters lol. I believe it was mostly because of his good looks since he looks perfect. I know that there’s no such thing as perfect, but this dude was the exception (believe me, lol). As for me, I didn’t become a fan instantly. I didn’t like how he treated the FL in the past timeline. That's why I am probably one of the few that loves the main character more than Legis, lol. But as I read further, I started to understand his character. I didn’t like his method, but it’s so hard not to cheer for him because his life is somewhat tragic, huhuhu. I don’t want to say more because I might end up spoiling you guys, so I’ll just stop here, hihi.
The side characters were also very fun to read because they all have unique traits that make it easy to get familiarized and relate to. I believe the side characters equally made this manhwa enjoyable.
And lastly, the villains. They really played their roles so well because I keep on burying them alive in my head everytime they appear lol. I’m glad they all got what they deserve in the end.
Btw, this manhwa has many misunderstandings particularly in the first season, which I surprisingly enjoyed lol. I usually hate misunderstanding elements in my story, but this one was surprisingly amusing, lol. It may seem annoying at first, but it’s so hard to resist their funny POVs and facial expressions, lol, so in the end, I have no choice but to enjoy it, wahahaha.
Speaking of facial expressions, I absolutely love the art. The character design fits all the characters perfectly and the creator also makes sure that everything looks stunning however small of a detail we think it may be. Even those dark scenes look gorgeous! I particularly love the dresses. I believe this manhwa is top tier when it comes to dresses and suits. ALL LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. I also love the animal representation of the main characters which appears quite a lot in the story making it more fun and cute for me. I love it so much!
Just like most manhwas, this also has side stories and I love it so much. Uwaaaahhh, it was so good! There’s even some mature chapters which look really good. This manhwa is actually R16 but mind you, those mature chapters (yep, not just one hehehe) doesn’t look lewd at all. Believe me, it was perfection! Aside from the main character’s side story, we also got Legis and Amelia (Juvelle’s mother) chapters in the side story. Although I would also like to see Riche (ML’s sister) and Victor’s chapters in the side story assuming I’m not just the only one thinking that the two of them ended up together, but that final side story I believe was the perfect ending. Huhuhu, it was a happy ending but a bit bittersweet for Legis.
Pheew, that was quite long, wahahaha. I hope my review above convinced you to try this manhwa out because it’s really good. Have fun!

Jubelian pasa sus días extrañando a Max, conoce a la princesa y se acerca más a su padre, quien nota su tristeza y finalmente Max regresa, tienen un precioso reencuentro, donde Jubel llora y él la cuida mientras duerme, pasando la noche juntos, mientras Regis recuerda a su esposa y se contacta con su vigilante, nos regala un vistazo de su dolor ante la muerte de su hija en la vida pasada. Max sigue intentando mejorar su reputación, pero Jubel continua temiendole, se prepara un banquete para los principes Maximilian y Beatrice, donde el rey se interesa en Jubel, haciendo que Regis se ponga en guardia, aunque Max salva la situación al interrumpir, Jubel se encuentra de nuevo con Beatrice, descubriendo que es la princesa y su situación, haciéndose amigas, Regis le confia la seguridad de su hija a Max y este interactua con ella como príncipe, pero falla en decirle la verdad, al final Regis se lleva a Jubel a penas la ve aburrida y maldice a todo aquel que en su vida pasada trató mal a su niña y a quienes mato sin miramientos, incluido al rey, pues un mundo sin su hija no le importaba.
Max escribe cartas a Jubel y su pobre pájaro mensajero es interceptado por Regis, quien no deja que nadie asuste a su hija y pese a que ya reconoce a Max, aun no lo considera digno de mandarle cartas aksjaj.
La familia de Mikhail fuerza a Jubel a verlo, quien enfermo, decaído y desesperado ha perdido por completo el rumbo, la atacan y aunque Mary, su sirvienta la defiende, al final cede a reunirse con Mikhail, pero pone a su madre y hermana en su lugar, amenazandolas de muerte al usar su nombre, que bonita mi niña :3 destroza todo lo que alguna vez les compro y cuando Mikhail la ve, aleja a su madre para hablar solo con Jubel, quien descubre a Max, mandado por su padre aksk, haciéndola sentir segura, Jubel intenta marcharse, pero Mikhail la retiene, ella lo golpea y finalmente Max interfiere, pelean hasta que Geraldine los separa y se encarga, Jubelian agradecida y más enamorada por como él se refirió a ella y como la defendió cuida de él, quien le propone una relación real y le confiesa su amorrrr, pero ella aunque enamorada, también esta confundida por lo que le pide tiempo, llegan a casa, donde Geraldine ya le ha contado una parte al duque, Jubel confiesa lo que hizo y cuando su padre se muestra orgulloso, ella se permite contarle lo que Mikhail le hizo y dijo, llorando de la frustración y molestando a Regis al punto de querer matarlo, Jubel se encuentra tranquila de tener a su padre de su lado y Max se sorprende de ver a su maestro por primera vez alterado, pues en el campo de batalla siempre permaneció en calma jajsja, el padre de Mikhail enfrenta a su familia por meterse con Jubel, recordando como Regis enloquecia cuando decía algo sobre su hija, antes de que mi hombre llegue desmadrando todo a su paso, llamándolos escoria y culpandolos por hacer sufrir a su hija, amenazando de muerte a Mikhail si vuelve a acercarse a Jubel. Regresa a casa y POR FIN se permiten hablar, Jubel le cuestiona y agradace por su comportamiento, él le hace ver que siempre estará de su lado, le pide perdón por los malentendidos y descubrimos como su actitud siempre fue con intenciones de protegerla, finalizando con un beso de buenas noches. In Summary:
The Princess who got poisoned in the novel enters the story in earnest! However, she’s very different from the initial impression she gave in Volume 3. Meanwhile, Max is working hard to shake off the Crown Prince’s maniacal tyrant public image for the sake of his growing love for Juvelian. Both royal siblings brought Juvelian to her Bad End in the novel, but it’s looking like they’ll cause her trouble of a different sort in this world.
Volume 4 begins with the conclusion of the tea party Juvelian throws for Rose and the other young noblewomen. As expected, the event ends in success, and the formerly reviled villainess gains a bunch of high society friends. What is unexpected is that the Crown Prince becomes a topic of conversation at the gathering. It’s one thing for Juvelian to describe her fear of the Crown Prince, but having Rose and company relate their unfavorable impressions of him really drives the point home. And the fact that Max is present to hear their unfiltered opinions makes it all the more hilarious. On top of that, it sets the stage for a couple things.
First, Max is motivated to change his public image (so that Juvelian will be more accepting of his true identity). Duke Legis, for reasons of his own, also wants that reputation to change. So the Duke helps Max get all the glory in a clash against a bordering nation. This conflict is laughingly brief; war scenes aren’t even included. It’s just an excuse for the Crown Prince to get upgraded to hero status, for a Victory Ball to be thrown in his honor, and for Juvelian to get stressed out because her attendance is mandatory.
Second, because Juvelian now has friends, she starts having an actual social life, and thanks to one of those outings, she conveniently runs into Princess Beatrice.
We caught a glimpse of Beatrice in Volume 3. I had thought she was cut from the same cunning cloth as her mother. While the Empress is exactly as despicable as she seems, the Princess is more of a crybaby. On top of that, she’s apparently the heroine of the novel this world was based on. The enmity Juvelian is supposed to harbor against the Princess is definitely out the window with this story practically throwing the two women into a friendship at first glance. While their abrupt intimacy feels unnatural, it does lead to comic moments when Beatrice and Max realize Juvelian is friends with them both. By the way, Max’s cat imagery gets extended to his royal sibling so it sometimes looks like two cats are fighting over a mouse.
This volume wraps up with a reappearance of former trash lover Mikhail. Despite his impassioned declaration that he’d make Juvelian love him again, he winds up a whimpering, sniveling shut-in at his family’s estate. So it’s up to his mom and sister to try to lure Juvelian back for him. While Juvelian’s interaction with the Hessen family is fairly one-sided, it’s wildly entertaining, and Max is both funny and dashing as he plays the part of Juvelian’s protective lover.

this manga made me cry unexpectedly. i thought the duke would be a shitty dad, turns out his daughter has him wrapped around his fingers but due to some unfortunate event, he couldn’t express his love for her. what’s worst is that the duke’s wife is dead and he can’t forget the happy memories, so the grief that he has been experiencing this whole time has just been weighing on his mind. can we bring back the wife too??! jubelian and max are such endearing characters. like with her father, jubelian has max wrapped around her fingers. he’s an absolute blushing, shy cat in front of her while a devil when facing others. i loved the interactions between max and legis as well. with legis's protectiveness, he can never let his daughter be with someone unworthy, even if that person is his disciple.
overall, i totally had a great time. i wished legis and amelia had a better life together and that jubelian had a better childhood growing up. nonetheless, i wish them eternal happiness. they’ve been through too much.

Juvelian’s interaction with the Hessen family is fairly one-sided, it’s wildly entertaining, and Max is both funny and dashing as he plays the part of Juvelian’s (over)protective lover/savior.

Chapters 48-64
We get a lot of lore drop in this one, but it's all very enjoyable regardless. The jokes and misunderstandings are just tragically hilarious. Legis has been best dad from the start and we're staring to see Juvellian see it for herself slowly but surely. Max is straight up the most delusionally optimistic ML I've read. I can't help but adore his clumsy attempts at charming Juvellian.
The mini side stories and teasers for each upcoming chapter are either tear-jerkers or pure comfort comedies. I can tell just how much love was put into every single character. You love the lovely characters, cry for the tragic ones, and rage over the imbeciles. I remember this being one of the biggest reasons why I came back to read this officially in English. I needed a break from the choppy translations, but this is a work of art now that I'm rereading it after so many years.

Oh this part was so mega.
Not only does the crown princess aka Max's sister appear, but the father's backstory is also shown. So only one part but it's so interesting and I'm so excited to see how the story continues.
I love Max for trying to show Juvelian that he's not as bad as she thinks and everything just goes wrong. I'm so excited to see if Trice and Juvel will hopefully become friends. The manga seems to be getting an even better story which would make me even happier.

Reading this feels so satisfying - the mix of awkward jealously and protective instinct is somehow heartwarming; in addition to disguise and contract that make the plot utterly juicy. By rendering other POVs of an important night/flashback, the story reveals inner motives, family intrigue and backstory that add depth to the narrative and characters. This is about second chance and I enjoyed seeing the softer side as a result of trust and kindness of an innocent soul.

Chaotic princess energy from start to finish...exactly what I signed up for.
What I loved:
🌸 Juvelian’s growth and her softness
🔥 Max being jealous, devoted, and dramatic (in the BEST way)
👑 A surprise war victory because the crown prince refuses to be normal
🔍 Regis investigating Kirke’s Ring like the world’s most intense dad detective
This installment was sweet, funny, swoony, and left me dying to see what happens with the ring, the princess, and Max’s increasingly bold declarations. Onward to the next volume!

The dramatic irony is so fun but I really need Max to get his act together and TELL HER ALREADY.
Not gonna lie, not sure if it's because I read this as the volumes come out so I forget things, but the whole reincarnation storyline is muddy at best.
Max's sister is introduced, shenanigans, she's very Bella in New Moon in this one, dad is still daddy. She snaps at her ex's family. Fun times.

Max is trying, but keeps hitting the wall of obliviousness. The poor carrier pigeon 😂 even better is when the princess shows up and the two are so similar, fighting over her attention while she stays oblivious 😂
I am quite curious about what happened in her first life. Obviously she misunderstood and wasn’t supposed to kill herself, but what were the duke’s intentions? It seems that he possibly remembers it as well, but doesn’t know she does?

Great story! Enjoyed the twists and turns throughout the series; though a bit slow to start, there was good character development. The there are parts of the story that are so heartbreaking, and some of the revelations are both so heartbreaking and heart warming. This series definitely had me in the feels. The ending was just so cute.

I love this series so much
It is so much fun and I love the men who love her realizing that she needs to and can stand up for herself. They are just there to be backup and clean up.

Omg! So much Doki Doki! This particular volume had me beside myself with joy watching the relationships develop. There's so many feels that you can't set it down! The cliffhanger at the end makes me chomping at my fingernails for the next volume... Fortunately I have that ready to go now lol!

Yes, definitely got much better. It's still nothing special, but I'm excited to read on and see more of the intrigue and backstories.
