These Pucking Boys: Part One

Rate this book
Once upon a time, there was a small-town girl with big dreams. She planned to move to LA with her high school sweetheart; they’d get married, and she’d become the hottest screenwriter in Hollywood.

She did accomplish the moving to LA part, and she’s about to tick marrying her boyfriend off the list. But all her plans go up in flames when she proposes on the Jumbotron during a Titans’ hockey game, and he says no. He’s been screwing one of her friends!

In case you’re wondering, that stupid-ass small-town girl is me.

After the most humiliating moment of my existence, I never want to go out in public again. But here comes the plot twist.

Three of the Titans hockey players saw my fiasco on TV, and to cheer me up, they invite me to a Titans team party. I couldn’t care less about meeting them in person, but the prospect of free booze wins me over.

I don’t expect to end up in a hotel room with the trio and have the hottest, most mind-blowing one-night stand of my life.

Not in my wildest fantasies did I imagine sleeping with three men, but it’s okay—I’ll never see them again, right?

I was wrong about that too.

I am very picky with my RH reads because I don’t just want erotic moments I want a gripping story with it and Michelle always delivers just that. This book though….WOW!

I love that our 3 gorgeous, hockey hunks are more than pretty boys who want to get it on! Jake, Lachlan and Ryan each have something to offer even if it’s just for now. Their personalities complement one another as well as Junes. No competition just…fun! June’s discovering who she is? What she wants and her 3 gorgeous neighbors are helping her do just that.

This book gives you some major twists and it does leave off in a cliffy but I get that because there’s a lot of story to tell and uncover. I will not complain about more time with these men that’s for sure.

If you want a book that has hilarious wtf moments, some super spicy scenes from the start and shocking twists then you NEED this book!

Another Apollycon author checked off the list! When I saw that Michelle Hercules wrote sports romance - especially hockey - I knew I had to check it out.

So this was definitely fun. Reverse harems are hit or miss for me and I don't think I've really ever read one in a contemporary setting before. I'm not 100% sold on if they work or not, but I'm still here for it.

After getting rejected on the jumbotron at the hockey game, June finds herself at the hockey teams after party and the prize on 3 of the players minds. This book went from 0 to BAM like whoa. The instalust was off the charts and honestly, I'm not really sure why. There was hardly any buildup or character development which are the parts the I am attracted to. The spicy scenes were pretty good - I mean, we jumped right into triple penetration really fast for someone who had never experienced anything outside of vanilla sex, but again, I just went with it because I was just here for the fun.

I think what kept me hanging on and why I downloaded the second one was that there are these little crumbs that were given to us from each of the boys that just made me want to know more. I just wish that they were a little more fleshed out and we had more time to sink into the relationships because, despite it being contemporary, it didn't feel very realistic at all.

THESE PUCKING BOYS was a good read but it didn't really ever hit hard enough for me. The writing was easy and engaging but the characters felt surface level and only a few days have passed but 3 playboy hockey players are ready to give it all up for June. Don't get me wrong, it's sweet but didn't feel realistic enough (in terms of a romance novel) for me to fully believe it. Additionally, why would the VP of Media Relations (Melissa) tell a complete stranger (June) that 3 of the team's hockey players like to have threesomes and then encourage that stranger to spend the night with them?! Like what if June was actually a journalist or sold that information to the paparazzi? The media team is supposed to make sure that kind of stuff doesn't get out, not be the ones to share it!

We get a bit of drama in this one, secrets about Jake's past and his toxic father, trauma around Ryan's parent's divorce, bitchy WAGs, and an awful ex for June and from the reviews I saw on book 2 it's only going to get worse. So while the spice was good and June was a really likable heroine, I don't plan to read book 2 even with the mega cliffhanger on this one.

Content Warning: toxic parent; blackmail

Well what I can I say…. Michelle has knocked it out of the park again!

If life didn’t get in the way I would have read this in one sitting I loved June and her hockey boys sooo much. Their chemistry from the start was u deniable and they fall fast even if no one wants to admit it.

June is at a Titans hockey game with the intention of proposing to her boyfriend on the Jumbotron but he says no. He’s being screwing one of her friends!!

But when three of the team’s players witness her humiliation they take it upon themselves to invite her to the team’s afterparty to cheer her up.

June snaps up the chance of free booze to drown her humiliation and maybe get some photos with her ex’s favourite team to rub it in. But she’s not expecting to end up having a one night with the three players who invited her out.

Get ready for Lachlan, Jake and Ryan they will leave you swooning with how sweet they are and work you up with their dirty mouths and creative ways of eating dessert!!

I loved everything about this book but that cliff hanger??!! i was shook! i cannot wait for book 2 but i have a feeling 💩💩 gonna hit the fan for June and the boys.

What an absolute smash hit! Michelle Hercules has truly knocked it outta the park with this book. I instantly felt comradery with our leading lady June, as she is humiliated by her cheating boyfriend.. in the jumbo-tron at a hockey game, no less. Her quirky, middle school teacher vibe was something I could relate to, and she was instantly my favorite. Cue the meet cute of not one, but THREE hot as sin hockey boys, and let the games begin. I laughed, I swooned, and I almost threw my Kindle with a cliffy that still has my heart racing. It is positively brilliant and an attention-grabbing storyline that will have readers in page turning bliss. Cannot wait for book two, and three, and four....

My initial thoughts on Goodreads: DNF - sooooo bad!

I didn't get very far into this one before knowing with absolute certainty that it wouldn't work for me. I honestly have no idea how this book has such a high rating. The MC, the guys (one of them had a Scottish "accent" that was so bad it was insulting), and everything else about this book was just awful. Save yourself some time and skip this one.

These Pucking Boys is the first book in a new why choose hockey romance duet, and I'm absolutely loving it.

June never expected her jumbotron proposal to her boyfriend would change her life the way it did. Suddenly dumped, and then thrusted into the limelight and receiving the attentions of three very hot hockey players!

Lachlan, Jake and Ryan are three best friends, and I really enjoyed their dynamic. Lachy so far is my absolute favourite. Tall, blonde and Scottish with a heart of gold.

The chemistry between June and the boys is super hot. Plenty of spicy group scenes as well as one on one. I won't be looking at cake in the same way! 🥵

I was not expecting that cliffhanger, and I can't wait for what the second part has in store for June and the boys.

Enjoyed this story and fell in love with the characters. The story moves quickly and there isn’t a lot of background information or detail leading up to certain situations but it’s still fun and an interesting read. Leaves us with a crazy cliffhanger. Can’t wait to get the next book to see how it comes back and how relationships progress from here.

And then we have Jake, Lachy, and Ryan and well, hello boys!!! These three had me sweating, reading so fast to figure out what would happen next and had me falling head over heels for them! I loved them individually and together. I am so on the edge of my seat what will happen to these three! They have a lot going on, a lot unresolved and I’m here for it all.

Michelle’s writing is amazing. She keeps you entertained from the first page. And in this book you get lots of spicy fun right from the beginning, which was awesome! One major thing I lovedddd about this book is that she gave us moments with June and each guy alone so they could really get to know each other. Look out reformed bad boys, June is coming for you! I love this why choose hockey story. June thought she was doing a romantic moment only to have it blown up in her face at the hockey game. Ryan, Jake and Lachlan saw what happened and invited her to hang out at the party after the game. The men did not hold back and June decided to live a little. The chemistry and the banner were hot and funny. It was enjoyable to see how they interacted with each other and as a group. Before I knew it I was on the last page and was screaming no. 😱

RH can be hit and miss but this one was quite fun, starting with the premise that the FMC was cheated on by a terrible ex. She meets the three MMC’s when her (then) ex rejects her proposal of marriage on the jumbotron.

This would have rated more highly if there was more about the MMC’s and their relationship with one another.

I think I picked this up in Stuff Your Kindle Day.

It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting and the smut writing was actually very good. Good take on polyamory and I enjoyed it, even though I’m usually a fan of monogamous relationships in books.

Michelle Hercules is an amazing writer who builds worlds so well you want to pack your bags and live there! These Pucking Boys is a why choose with three very attentive and attractive hockey players with a desire to know a 6th grade teacher who proposed to her boyfriend at their game on the Jumbotron. She was not only turned down but found out he was cheating with her friend. She spends the night with those hockey players to move on. Now, she is staying in the same building as them, getting to know them and falling for them all.

I love how these guys are friends but have majorly different personalities. Jake is broody and serious. Lachlan is sweet and gentlemanly. Ryan is the playboy who cooks. All three SHOW UP for June and show her she is something to be treasured.

I read a chapter of this book to my friend and she was instantly hooked! I fell in love too. These guys are swoon worthy. June is sweet and gives as good as she gets. Sharing is caring. Good thing the boys know how best to do that! It’s delicious!!

Okay Michelle, I’m ready for book 2!

When I see RH book dropping, I’m running like Forrest Gump after it. And add hockey in it? Bingo!

What’s my problem then?

Well, cheesy pornhub scenes. In h’s kitchen water faucet breaks and she gets all wet. One of the H’s is coming in and says she’s all wet. And what does our middle school teacher who only had super vanilla sex with her only boyfriend? That’s not the only thing what is wet. Seriously?

And, don’t forget this vanilla middle school teacher, who is shy and she just been dumped by her bf publicly, goes to have a ons with three guys and then decides to lose her anal virginity. Oh, no! Not only that, but also double tagging at the same time. I mean talk about pornhub material.

That besides, it was pretty decent book with likeable characters and I mean obviously after this insane cliffhanger I have to continue. Talk about drama and angst.

🔶 h is 25
🔶 All three H’s are most likely same age ?
🔶 h had only one partner
🔶 Two of the H’s are manwhores and one is not (had a fiancee who cheated on him)
🔶 no ow/om drama
🔶 no cheating
🔶 RH
🔶 hockey
🔶 Very descriptive sex scenes
🔶 condoms always used
🔶 Ends with a cliffhanger

June's entire personality switches up within the first few chapters and she moves on way too fast. She just got dumped after a 9 year relationship and no time was spent processing all that happened. The way she was introduced doesn't make it believable that her character would pull a 180 and be down with all that occurred in the span of like 2 weeks, mind you. By the end of the book, the relationship between June and the guys felt very underdeveloped because there's still so much they hadn't shared with her and they still barely knew each other. The guys claimed to be OK with the "why choose" aspect but yet their inner dialogue and actions said otherwise. I think this might be an issue with having a RH/WC book in a contemporary non paranormal setting. The nicknames were annoying, the FMC said "Lachlan" is a mouthful to say, so they call him "Lachy" instead 😐. Also, I found it weird how he addressed her as "lass" in every single interaction. It felt like the author was trying to remind us that Lachlan was Scottish.
