From their serendipitous first meeting to their unorthodox engagement, Genesis and Zuri’s romance has been nothing short of electrifying. With Genesis' accounting firm soaring to new heights and Zuri's career as a movie executive shining brighter than ever, they find themselves swept up in the excitement of planning their dream wedding. But as deadlines loom and schedules clash, they must navigate the challenges of balancing their professional ambitions with their desire for a lifetime of love.
For Genesis, everything seems to have fallen into place. Business is good and thanks to Zuri, she’s been able to return to her first love, dance. Not to mention, her ex has a new relationship, and her sister has finally settled into adulthood. But she’s started questioning the true meaning of happiness. Is marriage the key to fulfillment, or is she risking her freedom for a fantasy?
The moment Genesis asked for her hand in marriage, Zuri knew she had found the woman of her dreams. Now, with their commitment in place, she’s been able to focus on work again. But amidst the hustle and bustle, saying “I do” keeps getting pushed to the side, and she discovers that balancing her career and romance isn’t as easy as she thought.
Traveling between the bright lights of Los Angeles, to the beaches of Barbados, join Genesis and Zuri as they embark on a journey of laughter, love, and the occasional mix-up. Can they find the perfect balance between their professional dreams and their happily ever after? Or will the pressure of their fast-paced lives disrupt the harmony they've found in each other?
Ava Freeman writes contemporary romance that centers the Black queer woman’s experience. Through her stories, she strives to give readers rich, complex characters that always find their happily ever after.
So glad Ms. Freeman decided to give us what we’ve all been waiting for. Gen and Zuri were such a breath of fresh air in book 1 and in round 2 of this whirlwind love story, Freeman brought the heat! 🔥
Did I side eye the both of them a couple of times? Sure. Gen had me worried and Zuri had me wondering at times where things were going. I’m a girl who loves a lil mess in her romance and there was lots of potential for it. But these two would never let things go there. This is what mature, healthy and vetted love looks like and it is nice to have love stories between black women that keeps it demure and very mindful. 😌💅
Their love is the super sweet, give you cavities kind of love so many dream of. For you hopeless romantics that love, love, you’re in for a ride and you’ll get all the feels.
Let us all hope she graces us with a part 3 scorcher and make this a thrilogy. 👀😋
This was such a beautiful story. I loved all of the real and raw emotions. The ups and downs. Love is worth fighting for when you're fighting with the right person.
For the Love of You: Zuri & Genesis Keep It Real, Raw, and Red-Hot 🔥❤️🔥
Ava Freeman came through hard with For the Love of You, the second book in the Love’s Divine series, and baby, Zuri and Genesis are back like they never left! 🙌🏾 If you thought their love story was fire in Book 1, this one turns up the heat to a whole new level. Trust me, you’ll be fanning yourself by the end. 🥵
This book is giving real-life love vibes—you know, that grown folks’ love where life throws curveballs, but you still hold each other down. Zuri and Genesis are out here navigating their own struggles while trying to keep their bond tight. And let me just say, no matter what’s going on in their world, the bedroom stays 🔥🔥🔥. On the hot chili pepper scale? This one’s a certified 5 outta 5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
Freeman ain’t holding back, and I’m here for it!
What I love most is how authentic this feels. Zuri and Genesis ain’t perfect—they’re messy, they’re complicated, but they’re real. Freeman lets us pull up a chair and watch their love grow through all the seasons, and it’s beautiful to see two Black folks loving each other so hard and so deeply. 💕 It’s like being a fly on the wall at your favorite couple’s house—you get to see all the raw moments, the laughs, the tears, and of course, the passion that keeps it all together.
If you’re looking for a romance that’s equal parts heart and heat, For the Love of You is it. Ava Freeman did her thing with this one. Go ahead and grab it—you won’t regret it! ✊🏾✨
I eagerly anticipated delving into the second book after devouring the first one, but honestly, this one was a challenging read. The noticeable errors and the excessively drawn-out pacing made certain sections feel like they were written on autopilot. To be frank, I’m not entirely convinced that this sequel was even necessary.
On the positive side, I’m glad the characters finally tied the knot—though there were moments when I doubted it would ever happen. Despite their flaws, it was the unspoken words between them that came closest to undoing everything.
I love Zuri and Genesis love story. I loved that They gave each other and chance and no matter what they went through they made it point to fight for what they wanted. I would love a part 3, maybe seeing them navigate parenthood, work life and being married. Please Ava give us a part 3!!!
