When a serial killer plans to take you on a vacation, you probably shouldn't go.
Faith and Jonathan are so in love! It's almost their first anniversary. Jonathan has managed to keep his secret from Faith this long, but how much longer can that possibly last?

This is Book 2 of The Dark in the Light series and continues the story of Faith and Jonathan.
What would you do if the man you love turns out to be a serial unaliver of women? This series sets out to answer this question.
Book 2 focuses on Faith and Jonathan’s relationship before they married, and you also get see more of Jonathan’s double life. You finally see how his “urges” play out.
This story is told in the 3rd person and is done in a flashback. The opening and closing chapters are in the present after Jonathan is arrested. The remaining chapters focus on their relationship and how it builds.
While I am enjoying this series’ unique take on living with serial unaliver, I was frustrated with so much time being spent in the past. I did like seeing how their relationship grew and how Jonathan built a life with Faith based on genuine love and respect. This shows how the betrayal and pain she suffered that much harder when she finds out his secret.
I hope the next book in the series focuses on the present time with Faith’s confrontation of Jonathan, how he was discovered, and Faith dealing with the fallout of his arrest.

First, let me say J.S has INCREDIBLE speed when it comes to releasing this series so fast!
Aptitude is book 2 of "The Dark in the Light" series and another amazing, thrilling, and suspenseful read! It was interesting to see that the majority of the story was told in the past tense (to really share the history between Jonathan and Faith and what was going on before he did what he has done to ruin their lives. JS did an incredible job with the flashbacks so that us as readers are able to get a more well-rounded picture of Jonathan from a past perspective. While most authors barely do flashbacks, J's work really allowed me to truly understand him on a different level and it really changed my perspective a bit of him from "Habitude". Like Habitude, I was another immediate fan of J.S Wik's writing style, being able to portray raw emotions, hurts, and memories in a raw and heartwrenching way. You really feel the hurt and pain that Faith has been through because of Jonathan and J did an incredible job showing those emotions justice. I'm very curious to see how everything plays out with these two in Beatitude, the suspense of this storyline is killing me LOL.

My review for this book and book 3 are going to be the same as I had a very similar experience with both.
After reading the first book and being disappointed by the lack of content specifically about him being a serial killer I had reservations going in and hopes for more. They did deliver more which I enjoyed but it felt restricted due the majority of the rest sounding like a kind of dull retelling of basic ordinary couple life. Despite there being honest dialogue between them and from both of them individually it felt a little lackluster on an emotional/personal level, we are told that Jonathon kills people because of his childhood but don't get given enough information on why to be able to understand his character as more than one dimensional, making it hard to connect to him or feel any intensity from his kills.
This an ongoing series but it's feeling a little drawn out so far, cut out the entire chapters describing what they did at events like holidays and use that space to weave in how his side hobby effects their lives.
