The Sacrifice #1-2

The Sacrifice Duet

Rate this book
The Sacrifice Duet contains The Tithing and The Penitent and tells the complete story of Azrael Delacroix and Willow Wildblood.

An ancient curse. Two families bound. A forbidden love.

When the Wildbloods presented their daughters to me on the night of the Tithing, they knew what was to come for the chosen girl.

The crescent moon that marked Willow made her mine. I had no choice but to take her.

Destiny determined our fates long before we were born, laying our roles out for us.

A Sacrifice would be made. A Tithe paid. Only then would our families be free, at least until the next payment came due.

I would have done my duty as Penitent. I tried.

But no one counted on the lion falling in love with the lamb.

And loving Willow could cost me everything.

Way darker than I anticipated

But oh so good. It was so intense that I had to take a break from it just for a bit because it was so realistic in a time old tale of good and evil. Stellar book!

"As long as I love and breath, I will protect you."

These two books take place in the IVI society. I wasn't familiar with this world, now I know there are more stories that take place in this world.

It's a dark romance with mystery and magic. There is a lot of history between the two families, Wildblood and Delacroix. The history dates back centuries and so does the curse that is woven throughout this story. It's a history of pain and sacrifice and the curse inflicts this on both families. And so Azrael and Willow also have to suffer.

The level of spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️  and there is a connection between Azrael and Willow that can't be ignored, against better judgement. Will they find a way out of it or is this story supposed to end in tragedy?

I don't want to spoil, so I will only tell you this. This gave me all the feels. There are some scènes that are very violent, so watch out for those. The emotions of these people radiate from the page and is a real rollercoaster. These two books are fast paced, but don't feel rushed. Some things are very predictable, but don't disturb. There is real character development and so much love.

This is a dark and really twisted love story with some elements of good versus evil, witchcraft, sacrifices and an awful curse that spanned lifetimes. Throughout the duet we have a forbidden and twisted love story of two opposing forces of personalitys. Both the FMC and the MMC are strong willed with their own conviction of what is right and wrong and the "right path" forward. The chemistry between those two are off the carts, even though it is a dark and forbidden love between enemies - it's really steamy and hot between those two.
The world building is really interesting with flashbacks to another lifetime and we are introduced to a strange mix between a mafia type thing with an underground secret society thing and on the other side we have some real life witchcraft. and it sounds like it shouldn't work together, but it does brilliantly! The world building is an interesting mix between the supernatural elements and the darker secret society elements in this duet, and then we shall not forget the unhinged and evil grandmother! I really enjoyed this duet and I highly recommend reading them back to back to get the full experience of the story.

I've read worse but oh my lord. You lost me when most of the spicy scenes turned into "I don't want this but why do I like this."
